😠 I rang to make an appointment with a doctor at 8.30am the lines were busy until someone answered at 9.25am to tell me there were no appointments available, I felt really ill and had been hanging on for nearly an hour, the receptionist told me to either try again at 1pm or ring back at 8.30 the next... People often mention appointment, doctor, phone, told, doctors, time, surgery, staff, receptionist, Ashcroft,

I rang to make an appointment with a doctor at 8.30am the lines were busy until someone answered at 9.25am to tell me there were no appointments available, I felt really ill and had been hanging on for nearly an hour, the receptionist told me to either try again at 1pm or ring back at 8.30 the next day, I tried at 1pm and was hanging on until 1.30 and again told there’s no appointments, the receptionist was polite and empathetic but there was nothing she could do, and I was in tears because I felt so ill, she told me I could ring 111 so I did, 111 assessed me and said I needed to be seen within 12 hours, they sent a referral to Ashcroft surgery and told me to ring Ashcroft again and tell them, they’d sent a referral and I had to be seen, I told 111 that Ashcroft were adamant there were no appointments, they said that Ashcroft have to keep some appointments aside for such referrals and that to ring them and they must see me, so I rang Ashcroft only to be told the same thing, referral or not there’s no appointments, they told me to come down to surgery the next day for 8.10am and I’d be seen …so I did and waited from 8am until 10.30 to be seen …the surgery itself is run down and filthy, the toilet had no paper towels in, or any way to dry your hands and the bin in there is disgusting …the whole place is run down, the doctors printer didn’t work either. …it should NOT be so difficult to make an appointment or to even get through on the phone lines! (the answer machine says why not use the e consult service online? the e consult service is always switched off!) …but in my case I actually needed to see a doctor, and 111 said that I needed to be seen that day…the doctor advised me to write to the practice manager and also my MP with my concerns….the doctors are very good once you get to see one.

Tried calling the surgery multiple times. No answer after 15 minutes, it's impossible to get through in the morning and even at 4PM they still don't answer the phone. I understood the first time as they may be busy but to not answer the phone at all is horrendous, I've tried to call since Thursday and it's now Tuesday and still not got through. Absolute JOKE.

I understand it can be very difficult and demanding at times but the reception staff is always cheerful, friendly and accommodating. This applies to all staff in reception, from the senior more experienced staff down to new/more junior receptionist. Although it isn't a perfect system under current circumstances, the effort, hard work and professionalism comes across in every call and visit. Well done!!!

Absolutely disgusted with the receptionists, I’ve been hung up 40+ times now and I desperately need my bloods running. Last time I called them they weren’t accepting any patients and sent me to the emergency doctor who sent me to a&e despite me saying on countless occasions I had already been to a&e and they are the ones who need to run my bloods and do an ultrasound on my heart and chest. I do not in anyway shape or form blame the doctors and nurses who work there, the majority are genuinely sweet people it’s just appalling receptionists.

Wed 8/11/2022 Just spent 18 minutes on the phone trying to get an appointment for my 6 year old. The receptionist I spoke to was very pleasant but unfortunately couldn't offer an appointment and advised me to ring back at 08:30(I take my child to school at 08:30) in the morning and I might get an appointment for next Wednesday. This is a very poor service

Very kind and understanding doctors and nurses that have been great every time I have visited. Yes the wait times are long for an appointment on the phone but what gp isn't nowadays. A friendly staff member has always been on the other side taking my call, it just takes some patience for the call to get through.

Contact made regarding a mental health crisis! Doctors decided it's appropriate to wait a week for an appointment, contacted the next morning due to situation getting worse and was advised the doctor would call that morning........ After failing to get through the entire afternoon I finally got through and was advised at 5:20 that the doctors said it was appropriate to wait to for next phone appointment. As someone who is in a position of care, to hear the words mental health crisis, you would assume they wanted to make a welfare call to their patient to make sure they could help in anyway possible. Instead she sat behind her computer and typed a half arsed note about someone she hasn't even taken 5 minutes to talk to. And would you believe, a quick bit of research shows their special interests to include anxiety and depression. What a joke that is! DISGUSTING!

I'm so disappointed because everytime it takes an hour to see a doctor after getting an appointment. I don't understand how it works. And a lady at the reception is rude.

So poor I felt compelled to leave. Gone massively downhill since Dr Khan was my gp. I could go on and on about the numerous problems encountered over the last few years. One outstanding one was an early morning appointment. After I had arrived on time the female doctor my appointment was with arrived 40 minutes later. A further35 minutes later I was called. When I politely mentioned this I was told that she had other patients to see. I pointed out that I was the first patient that appeared on the screen. Did not go down well at all with her and accused me of turning up early. She was not interested in seeing my confirmation text with the time clearly stated. Rude and abusive. Decided to stay with them until the next major problem they caused me. Such a shame. Dr Khan was fantastic with me for many many years. .

My family and I do not go often to the surgery but everytime we ever attend it is really busy. The receptionists are so patient and helpful and respectful even though they are endlessly on the telephone. The nurses are brilliant never kept waiting for even routine blood tests and injections and health checks. The GPs I have dealt with are easy to talk to and listen and always act on any issues speedily. Thank you for your support

Why do you need to phone between 8.30 and 9 to book an appointment? I was in the surgery and told by the nurse I needed an appointment with a Doctor but told by reception when an appointment was available but I have to phone next Friday between 8,30 and 9 to book it????

The phone and booking system has got to be the worst ever however once you do eventually get through the reception staff are all very nice and helpful and doctor steele and doctor hamblin are absolutely first class.

I had nail surgery and came in for a bandage change i asked the receptionist nicely not realising she was on her phone that which room do i go in to be seen and she just loudly spoke "I'm on the phone"!!!!!!! She was so rude that some person in the waiting room advised me nicely where i should go. This is just disgusting behaviour!!!!!!!

So yesterday and today i have spent a total of 1 hours and 47 minutes trying to make an appointment for bloods doing. An appointment they they sent me a text message to make. Although once through the receptionist was courteous and helpful, the wait to be answered in unacceptable, I have been a patient at this doctors since it used to be a little cabin in undercliffe and can honestly say the service is getting worse. Come on practice managers, get your practice in order

Absolutely disgusting receptionists I was sat in the waiting room and my misses rang the line they ignore it for as long as they can if it goes on too long they just hang it up I've never been to such a horrible doctors Receptionists need to learn to be a bit less rude to people

Nobody wants to pick up the phone. Nobody is available! Been waiting for almost an hour. This is ridiculous. Nobody should wait this long, especially at 4.00pm. This is not the first time it's happened. Also, the receptionist is very rude. Anyone who rang and spoke to her would know. I'm definitely going to register myself and my family elsewhere.

I am really pleased to be a patient here at Ashcroft surgery. The doctors have that good old fashioned "bedside manner" and explain often complex issues in simple terms which not only provides the best treatment but puts your mind at rest too. 5 star rating, I would give it 6 stars if I could. Doctors and staff always helpful, cheerful and very professional...a good service all round. Thank you to Dr. Mehay and the other doctors on the staff...

Phoned up for appointment for my mum only to be told they are only doing emergency appointments because there's only 2 doctors. What a shambles!! It's not the first time either. Needs closing down !!

Why do impatient people always moan. Ashcroft is a good surgery. Polite Doctors, and staff. We have been there for forty years, and are very pleased.
