My husband and I have given our membership up the main issues were the cleanliness of the place. Changing rooms not clean and rather tatty clients can walk in to the changing rooms in their outdoor shoes spreading germs who knows where people have walked before coming into the changing rooms swimmers walk barefoot through the changing rooms to the pool, the pool has broken tiles and some tiles are dirty, spin dryer hardly ever works on a night. Some clients tend to get noisy on a night with no respect for other people or members of staff as we have witnessed first hand. For the premium price its just not up to standard. Its a shame because it could be such a nice place

I’m a member of another Nuffield gym which I’m quite fond of. I decided to try the Shipley branch for its jacuzzi. I usually swim with my little girl, we’re quite regular and we have a good routine + understanding of each other’s skills and needs. Unfortunately got completely put off from visiting the Shipley pool by a neurotically frightened manager who makes up rules on the go and basically wants you to behave in a very certain way; otherwise he will interfere to “fix” situations in no need of his fixing, despite the fact that you’re having a good time, not disturbing anyone’s peace and not hurting anyone at all. When I asked the manager to show me the rules he’s referring to, no such rules were documented anywhere but in his own mind. Thanks but no thanks, when I go to a gym/pool, I don’t seek to be lectured on how to live life, and the guy is definitely overstepping this boundary here, with no appreciation for my actual background/skills/abilities and no interest to hear about them either. Annoying to say the least. Which is a shame for an otherwise lovely facility.

One thing before I write this, the staff seem pleasant enough and it's no slight on them. But I would seriously advise a complete extension and renovation of the Gym areas, or stop marketing yourself as such. This is more of a lesisure centre and not a gym, there's maybe 4 or 5 machines in the gym area, with one bench press and 1 squat rack. This wouldn't be a problem but usually these are hogged and an hour workout would turn into 2 hours, it's really not suitable to most people who would consider bodybuilding/powerlifting, please avoid if you're wanting to go for these purposes. Swimming or general cardio should be fine however, I have to mention that.

Why has the stair climber been removed ? Not a lot of basic equipment that should be at this gym especially with the price , The membership at this gym isn’t exactly cheap , you get more facilities at jd gyms and pure gym …

Just left and won't be coming back. All the good staff have been replaced with awkward people. The hygiene side is appalling for the money paid. The showers doors are faulty sometimes, some have a little shelf to put stuff on and some don't so u have to put shampoo and stuff on the floor. The reception guy needs to learn how to smile,( with all types of people). The previous reception staff were much better

absolutely terrible. Not clean, staff don't know what they're doing, poor management, dirty changing rooms. No one enforces rules in the gym, people spit all over the showers, leave weights all over the gym. The management is very bad. Very clicky and full of entitled pretentious kinds.

Outdated, had the staff doing the decorating, instead of employing professionals . Cleansing issues all around. The gym is ok to take the DD but not spend on the gym itself.

I’ve been a member at Nuffield Health centre for almost 5yrs, during this time I have never experienced poor customer service until today! I was waiting around the reception area to speak with a member of staff regarding my membership, there was 3 staff members stood behind the desk talking to each other all 3 observed me stood around the reception area however, neither one wanted to speak with me nor acknowledge my presence. After waiting around for 10-15mins I walked off because of the poor customer service, it’s a pity that a good decent gym like that employ people with poor interpersonal skills. You can be assured that I will be cancelling my membership after today’s incident.

The gym used to be to a reasonable standard of quality and service however, over the last few months it’s really gone downhill. The staff aren’t very helpful, considering the price of the membership it is really not worth joining. Most of the equipment is always out of order, they seem to love to put offers on to entice new members in yet the standard offered to existing members is below satisfactory. Not many spaces in classes such as yoga, if there is it’s the same people being able to book on.

Very disappointing that they have decided to close the jacuzzi's very hastily and without any consultation with the members, anybody who signed up in the last 12 months will have good reason to cancel the contract and leave, hopefully many do, horrendous decision.

Been a member on and off since the place opened as Greens gym. There has been a steady decline over the years despite recent rebranding. Environment can be VERY noisy with boombox classes in central atrium. Older members poorly catered for. Disabled members also not properly catered for. Abysmal computerised class booking system. Have sone months left on my membership and will seriously consider whether worth renewing if current situation continues. Update: decided not to renew annual membership.

This place has really gone downhill over the years. Half of the equipment is out of order, the spa pools have been closed, the facilities are in real need of renovation. You were previously able to get a towel when you visit but they’re still quoting covid as a reason for not providing them. Much better gyms out there. The main selling point was the spa allowing you to relax after workout but that’s now gone. Plenty of other areas to save cost - lights on all day, lots of staff dotted around or sat behind reception - but instead a core service has been cut.

Seems to have a constant list of issues at Shipley. Set off today on a ten mile trek for a sauna. Got to the gym and it was out of order. What happened to texting members if there were issues? Last week they had no hot water. Few weeks ago the steam room was out of action. Time to move to a different gym.

Massive Shout out to all the wonderful staff at Nuffield Baildon! It has been over two years since I first walked through those doors, shaking like a leaf 🍂 Scared to death at the very thought, reluctant, hesitant and probably a bit rude about the place tbh (apoligies) 😳 You Guys have quite literally changed my life Not only my fitness but you have given me my confidence back, my belief in myself, my ability to get out there and be amongst fellow humans You always make me feel welcome, allowing me to feel like I belong. So very grateful to you all You are all amazing ❤

I usually use a different gym but gave this a couple of visits, its a nice building, the changing rooms are large and the classrooms and pool is good, parking is free which is also good and the lounge area is large so the potential is there for a really good health club but let down by the gym, which compared to the rest of the building is very small, windowless and with dark and gloomy lighting compared to other parts of the building, the equipment also looks very tired and dated now, the other huge downer is that tacky commercial radio is blasted throughout the building even in the changing rooms, this really makes the place feel so downmarket, thankfully the coffee shop staff hate it so much they switch it off in their area - wish the rest of the building would follow suit, not everyone wants music everywhere and most of those who do are listening to their own choice on headphones, please turn it off or choose a far better type of less intrusive music and ditch the tacky commercials!! After using this more regularly I'd add that almost no lockers have hangers anymore, you can open more than 50 looking to find one, members have complained many times but with no action taken to remedy this by the club, also the GM removed almost all the yoga mats leaving only a handful and certainly not enough for a class, again no action taken to complaints about this. Seems to be the way with Nuffield as I've found elsewhere also justifiable complaints are just ignored.

Been visiting this Gym for the last 4 years and it is going downhill - Today's bad points: 1. Sauna not switched on, no heat whatsoever 2. Jacuzzi Jets not working, likely forgot to turn on? 3. Spin Dryer for swimwear has been out of order for over a week, they only realised today when a notice appeared on it. 4. There used to be plenty of staff cleaning etc, now its a skeleton staff of youngsters on the min wage who really are'nt that interested in working. For a premium Gym £41 PM you expect more, many people have commented on the way staff/costs have been slashed, in my opion they have gone too far with this and need to get the balance back, only then will they attract the new members they likely need.

Far too many free staff walking about doing nothing.. turned of jacuzzi and the reason was to save bills yet they have staff walking around talking to each other doing nothing.. it’s like a youth club was good at one time not anymore.. far too many machines not working doesn't justify the high end price you pay .. stay away if I was you.. I have now cancelled

So much potential but so many things wrong! There's a long list but I'm mainly annoyed because there's no way, to measure my body fat percentage. They have a pay machine but it gives out incorrect readings and in the health mot, they lack the piece of equipment that measures it..so how do I keep an eye on my progression? It seems they don't want to spend on anything...in many different areas.

I have been a member since it opened as Greens. Other comments are very negative and don't seem to appreciate the cost of living crisis hitting us all, including gyms. It is a shame the spa facilities have dropped recently but there is still a lovely pool, sauna and steam room. Changing rooms are big and bright, and lockers secure. The revived food and drink offer has been a welcome positive and I have never met any of these 'rude' staff others have mentioned?? Good value for the money my wife and I pay.... way less than other gyms that aren't that much better!!

I regularly go to this gym, and is worth every penny, you have a variety of machines available, swimming pool, sauna, jaccuzi, steam baths, good opening times too which is convenient, although it would be nice to open at 6am rather than 6:30am as for 8am work starters we can have that extra time at the gym, made a difference to me as i feel more energetic. Kind and helpful staff! Thanks Nuffield.

Soft Theft target, be careful, due to the lack of investment this place is a gold mine for thieves now, people jamming car signals and then taking what they like from the cars, various bike have been stolen from the front area, and now apparently thieves are taking locker keys away, getting them cut and returning for a luck dip, make sure you are well insured before joining this place as there is no security at all!, Not one camera in the car park, barrier has now gone from the car park, no chance they will invest a penny to stop this from happening, that's 100% certain. Likewise aircon does not work (for the last 2 years minimum) and many machines are broken/worn out, avoid like the plague.

It was a very good all rounder but after they closed the spa from October it’s not really worth the visit. As after a good work out you want to be able to relax but not happening. The reson given to save on bills. Well they keep lights on all through day when they can easily be left off till it gets dark. They have far too much staff that are not actively working. They took away the best thing the spa when it worked. Unfortunately it use to be out of order every other day. Gym area is good & cardio but it’s the spa that’s letting it down. I hope the negative reviews might get them to switch them Back on.

Friendly welcoming staff, decent car park and facilities. However, they have let too many chavy Asian clientele join and all you can hear is them talking way too loud when they are on the machines and you cant hear yourself think, shaving their beards and heads in the toilets - no etiquette. And there is only one lat pull down machine and at certain times it can be problematic to get on the machines especially when people are training in groups.

Been trying to book myself in for 1 to 1 swimming lessons for the past 2 weeks. 2 emails and 3 phone calls later still not getting anywhere. Keep getting told someone will be in touch but not heard anything back. Such poor service considering its £16 for a half hour session. Would understand if it was free and they had a big waiting list. Looks like i need to look elsewhere. What a shame!

A disappointment. Outdated & poorly maintained equipment. Constantly making cutbacks to facilities, despite cramming bodies through the door. Was a member there for 5years and it only got worse, whilst membership fees increased in line with inflation, yet cutbacks constantly, most notable the spar pools. Could go on, but leave some whinge room for others who need to share grievance.

Absolutely unsafe place .. the members use double lockers and take the keys home with them.. they could be hiding illegal stuff in there iv seen it myself and have messaged Nuffield about it but they don’t care .. the mens lockers are used overnight and I have seen this with my own eyes .. I have even seen never boasting about it.. stay well away if you wana stay safe as it only takes only crackpot to to crazy .. god knows what they are stashing in the lockers.. You have been warned!!!!

Felt i needed to let you know of my experience with yourselves today. I brought my 3 year old granddaughter for her first swimming (trial) today and I was far from impressed. There was no warmth shown from the instructor at all and after 15 mins my granddaughter started crying wanting her grandma and wanting to get out. Needless to say she doesn’t want to come back such a shame because she was so eager to start her journey learning to swim. Very disappointed !!! It was the Shipley centre that we visited

Absolute shocking treatment towards costumers, lack of professionalism, and beyond a joke when it comes to problem solving. Now after finally leaving this place can say that the price is just ridiculous seen as they barley got any equipment to begin with. Also unattended children running around I’m changing rooms is not a good look. Wouldn’t recommend even to an enemy. Somebody with a very big media following I cannot wait to share this everybody.

So the showers were Amazing so hot could have stayed in all day !! Gym decent but free weights old and naff. For a girl i have to say hair dryers worked very nicely, there was a few old style luxarys i loved!!! Pool was lovely with pool noodles for kiddies lessons looked great. Steam rooms full to the brim with hairy men could not sit down. Clean enough .. Jacuzzi stung eyes but needed!

The gym essentially is good however the price is ridiculous Ian on corporate rate and still pay over £50 a month which I believe is extortionate plus over the Christmas and new year periods the gym was closed for two months and the only option I got was go to guisley or else where, I don't want to go else where it doesn't suit so I would like subscriptions returned. Therefore due to price and lack of customer service I will be leaving to get the same equipment for a third of the price minus the swimming pool which I don't use any way bye

I can’t say I feel I get value for my money! Have only joined because I get a discount through my private health. The gym does not have a lot go equipment and when groups of 2 are using three pieces of equipment at “once” it becomes very frustrating. Also terrible that members don’t wipe down equipment after use, wear slops in the training section and “hog” equipment. No one seems to in-force any gym etiquette!

I've been with nuffield Shipley for over 2 years so put of contract on a month by month basis. I work away all the time and got to use Nuffield all over the UK for a few pounds extra per visit. Over the Las 2 years this small cost has risen until Northampton wanted £15 for 1 day visit. Also whenever using the Shipley gym half the machines were out of order so I decided to cancel my membership. A months notice it should be but they wanted 2 months and have started to peruse me via debt collectors. Avoid at all costs

I use this gym on a regular basis and love it, I have Tyrone for personal training who in my opinion is a huge asset to Nuffield, he keeps me motivated and working hard towards my goal!! There are a few inconsiderate members who leave rubbish around and fail to return things they have used them, they would probably be the first ones to complain about it too!! I find on the whole the staff to be friendly and helpful, the gym clean and well equipped. If I had a slight gripe it would be the air conditioning isn't particularly very effective.

Said on the website that it closes at 10. Go to the gym to find out it closes at 8, totally spoiled a good day because of the lack of information given from the website. Gym is okay but the lack of weighs means you have to wait a lot to be able to have them for £46 a month it is definitely not worth it. Plus all I ever hear is people complaining

I was eager to try out this gym but since I’ve read the reviews about the spa being closed I decided not to bother with a membership. Nuffield usually means premium but reading these reviews I don’t think they are worth the money

I would just like to say that the first impressions of this place is outstanding. I signed up today (9/12/20) over the phone with a chap called Chris at the Shipley branch and he was so helpful and warm to speak too. He quite literally explained things inside out and helped me to figure out if I qualified for corporate discount. I do, but I won’t use after work so there’s no point taking the anytime contract. So I opted for the off peak. Especially since you guys had an offer on at the moment for not charging us a start up fee etc Chris was a delight and not only did his job well but actually made me feel really comfortable. I have mental health issues ranging from anxiety, PTSD, depression and even before I mentioned my health concerns he was being polite. So it’s nice to know Chris gives every customer his brilliant service! Chris asked me to pop in to the branch at my nearest convenience to sign forms and to collect my membership card etc So the evening comes and my anxiety kicked in I didn’t know what to expect going there in person.. As usual I go in really bubbly and polite (because I know what it’s like dealing with people they can be so damn rude) and I approached a pretty, smiling lady called Ann Marie Told Ann Marie why I was here etc etc And she immediately made me feel welcome. I’ve spent years feeling like I’m invisible or just a number. Like I don’t matter. Ann Marie actually had a conversation with me about life. Something I’ve especially missed due to covid. She was so friendly and lovely. She had gorgeous hair too!! She asked for my advice on my eyebrows / make up (usually I’m the one asking for advice since I’m a tomboy) it was nice to feel like I actually exist for once... Ann Marie set up my card, booked me in for my induction session before my swimming slot and I’ve never felt so exited for a long time. Even just speaking to a bunch of people due to being locked away for months, apart from going to work (sad face) has already made my head feel better. When covid is over I’m bringing Chris and Ann Marie some chocolates for just being them. For just being lovely, honest and down to earth people... I love writing long reviews for good people. People are so fixated on writing bad reviews over stupid little things and it’s just not fair. So when I get excellent service I don’t mind spending the time writing this up. At the end of the day just like your staff, the world needs more kindness. So this is my kindness back. I hope people Chris and Ann Marie not only see this review but get some sort of recognition from their superiors please. Hard workers deserve praise. Without them people like me probably wouldn’t join.... Every business has their ups and downs. Things will always go wrong. It’s inevitable. However as long as your staff are happy and nice you can’t fail. As you can tell I work in retail. I’m a garage manager. And there’s nothing that cheers you up more than a nice review. Nothing comes close to the feeling you get when customers see you and appreciate you and your hard work. So to Chris and Ann Marie, thank you for making an anxious lady feel comfortable and peaceful. This review will be posted directly to Shipley branch via the website and google reviews and trust pilot Thank you. - Rebecca ♥️
