Where to begin - I’ll summarise so you can choose to read on. FIVE STAR service, honest and transparent prices, friendly and approachable people. Gallows bridge will be the ONLY boat Yard Jessica 2 will visit. (Even she’s attached) If you want to read on - I’m new to boating and took a chance when buying Jessica and didn’t get a survey. I was always quite anxious to know the state of her hull but also anxious of where to take her after hearing horror stories from other people. I stumbled upon gallows bridge when I needed to get some gas and coal. Instantly felt at ease and welcome by the guys down here. My normal environment smells of shampoo and hairspray so this was pretty daunting coming into a “blokes” environment. I asked a few questions and the thing I appreciated the most was I didn’t feel pressured into anything. The guys were so relaxed and said I shouldn’t be too worried about how she looked - which already made me feel they weren’t out to rip me off. So I went away had a think and decided to give them a ring. Ended up having a survey and it wasn’t the best news ever. But Aaron and everyone made sure to look after me. Reassuring me not to worry and they’ll fix her. And they did that. She looks AMAZING and I can’t even shout out how happy I am with everything. I’m excited to be back in the water but also sad to be leaving as I’ve had a right laugh :) Nothing was any trouble and you could really tell these people are genuine, honest and trustworthy. Like I said - I’ll make sure that whenever I need anything maintaining I’ll be visiting gallows bridge. Not to get all mushy - but thank you everyone from the bottom of my heart - you’ve gone above and beyond what you had to do, and apologies but you’ll be seeing me every two years minimum. Thanks guys !!

This is a fantastic firm! I had a problem with my bow thruster while trying to Moor at Apperley Bridge towpath opposite the new flats. Steve at appley Bridge Marina recommended I got myself down to Gallows Bridge Boatyard to get craned out of the water, as they have a telly loader that can lift 40 tons, I arrived unannounced and withont an appointment but they managed to fit me in within a week so while I was out the water I got them to do 3 coats of blacking and manufacture an additional battery box for my bow thruster, modify the hinges to the bow locker. All done at the drop of a hat very helpful very friendly family-run firm I can't recommend them highly enough. So may I wish you and all of them all the very best with the future. PS very reasonable rates! Kind Regards Reg Skinner (Tin Slug)

Got a little welding job done on my narrowboat which was done quickly and efficiently. Refreshing to not be mucked around unlike recent past experience elsewhere! Will certainly be using Gallows Bridge again in the future. Thanks lads, appreciate your help!

Our narrowboat hit an underwater obstacle not far from this yard. They fitted us in very quickly to take the boat out of the water and fix the propeller and check the propeller shaft, which RCR had recommended. Lots of helpful advice and comments from them - and they spotted and fixed a separate potential problem which will save us time and money later. Friendly service, very reasonable prices. I hope all our future breakdowns are within easy reach of this place! Highly recommended. Thank you.

After a very traumatic event in Dobson Two Locks we were left with a very bent rudder. I rang round local boatyards and was told to contact Gallows Bridge Boatyard. A friendly voice at the other end of the line told me they could sort it the following day. We limped back to Shipley and reached the yard at 10.00am. We were prepared to move out to a hotel for several days. In the event, the boat was craned out of the water, the rudder was mended and we were back in the water by 2.00pm The two brothers and their father who run the boatyard and other staff were absolutely brilliant. Not only did they do a great job but they were very kind and helpful. They helped to restore our confidence and turned what could have been a serious problem into a blip in our journey. Other boaters we met also commented on their efficiency and kindness. I cannot recommend them highly enough

I booked a company boat cruise with these guys as a bit of a treat for my team. The day was exceptional and Aaran the boat captain shared lots of local and boating knowledge with us. Brendan, his second in command and his onboard lock keeper, showed us how to operate the locks and even get involved!.. the cruise even included a visit to a local canal side pub for lunch... highly recommend and will certainly do it again. Thanks guys much appreciated

Only for people who live there. No public facilities. But they can lift narrow boat out off the water and do repairs if required.
