This park is one of the most beautiful and natural place in Leeds. You can come with your friends or family or even alone and sit on side of lake for long time and can feel the natural beauty. If you want to spend relaxing time then definitely i will recommend this place for you. The most amazing thing is walking around the lake and feeling the fresh air with natural view just sitting and thinking deeply. 👍🏼❤️.

What a lovely place this is, so spacious and lovely walks. I took a walk around the lake, it's a steady walk not strenuous at all. The swans i found were quite friendly and can get quite close to them, be careful with kids tho.. A lovely morning walk which I shall do again in the future.

With the nature trails! There’s a beautiful pond with ducks, swans, sea gull and mystic mystery of the pond and not to mention our cheeky squirrels. You can walk along the path, picnic nearby. There’s a cafe nearby and toilets. Ice cream trolley too! Perfect for both summer and winter. You have free car park too!

I would say it is the most beautiful park that I visited in the UK. Very fresh and nice. Family time, couple time are very suitable here. A lot of people bring their pet, toddlers, babies and somewhat seniors are also here. A bit of history, this park's area cover more than 700 acres and I was told that it used to be private park, until the inherited sold it to Leeds' government. As the council was not permitted to spend more than £40,000 on such large tracts of land, it was purchased for £139,000 by a group. Leeds City Council subsequently reimbursed them. And it re-opened again at 1872 by Prince Arthur for public. And interestingly, you will found some benches with the memoriam in it Interestingly, most of the benches here got some memoriam notes from the people who used to sit at the park

Great park. Always clean and tidy. Lots of benches, bins and signs. Animal friendly and accessible for everyone regardless of their physical ability. Also good for bikes and running. Lots of parking spaces for cars and of course a safe playground for kids.

A well maintained big park with 5 different jogging trails including a trail in Jungle. A trail alongside lower lake is a treat to watch alongside all the birds in lake. - A playground for dogs!! - a cricket ground!! - Walking trails - Lakeside cafe Good parking as well. Try not to get into or swim in the lake as it is very dangerous. There are rescue tubes alongside lake track after every 100 meters. You can bring bread to feed the birds as they will gather around you and it will be a great scene to watch with Seagulls flying and catching the bread and Canada goose competing . … Roundhay Park in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England, is one of the biggest city parks in Europe. It covers more than 700 acres (2.8 km2) of parkland, lakes, woodland and gardens which are owned by Leeds City Council. The park is one of the most popular attractions in Leeds; nearly a million people visit each year. It is situated on the north-east edge of the city, bordered by the suburb of Roundhay to the west, Oakwood to the south and the A6120 outer ring road to the north. Tropical World has a butterfly house and aquariums. Exhibits include birds and some reptiles living free inside, and many other animals in enclosures including a group of meerkats. Its nocturnal house is home to creatures such as bats which are active at night. In 2015 following further refurbishment and alterations an Aztec zone opened in the area transformed into an Amazon themed zone occupied by piranhas and salamanders.

Lovely park! The council and local groups do a great job of maintaining the park. Parking can be an issue when busy, but there are a plethora of transport options other than by car. Just be thoughtful to local residents and park considerately. Along with my visit to the park, I attended the Monet Gardens which were a pleasant surprise. You don't often find such a great addition to a council park. LCC have done a wonderful job with the reconstruction of their Chelsea Flower Show contributions. I think the park offers everyone a great day out. You will never be bored when visiting here, there is an abundance of history located all over the park and events are regularly held across the year.

Lovely park with two cafes, ice cream van and coffee kiosk. Two lakes , Children s playground, and a lovely sense of space. Car parking can be at a premium at weekends. Pubs nearby for after walk meals and Tropical World over the road . Land train runs in summer / holidays

Kids, adults loved it. When u go inside suggest for kids to wear shorts and loose clothing as it gets hot in there.. Lovely animals to see. Cheap tickets. Carers got in free. Children under 5 free. Awesome for a visit in summer holidays or whenever u want to go out.

Park doesn’t do it justice - it’s both huge and varied. Lakes, hills, forests, playgrounds (yes, all plural) not to mention a mansion, folly and ‘train’. If you expect to get around all of it in your me go then you’ve made an error. Pick your side and destination and then enjoy. It’s not all perfect, one of the lakes is a bit worse for wear and stagnant, though it still has nesting swans. And yes, the carnival is right next to one of the play parks. It was also hard to find any ice cream on a bank holiday. But also the place was so big that despite loads of people being there it was easy to find your own space. Given it is the biggest city park in Europe that’s not surprising, how big it really is was surprising! Well worth a visit.

Gorgeous mix of modern and traditional. Park, woodlands and beautiful lakeside walks with plenty of nature to be spotted. Geese, ducks, herons and more. Dotted with the odd bit of history from it’s former hunting park days. One of the largest urban parks in Europe I hear…

I had a wonderful time visiting here today. The weather was perfect. The park is really good for nature lovers and families alike. I particularly enjoyed taking a leisurely stroll around the lakes, and the variety of wildlife I spotted was a pleasant surprise. Can’t wait to visit again. 🌳🦆🌞

Ticks all the boxes. Forests, water, hills and trails, castle remains, and lots of fantastic places to eat or drink within walking distance. Great for families! And be a responsible dog owner and keep dogs on leads because some dogs might not be as nice as our own so be mindful. And please clean up after them!

I recently visited Roundhay Park in Leeds, and I was captivated by its picturesque views. The well-maintained surroundings added to the charm, providing a serene escape. The presence of ducks and swans by the tranquil waters added a delightful touch, creating a perfect setting for a peaceful day outdoors.

Gorgeous, it really feels like you're in a European city. The best part is how close it is to the city. We had a meal at the Lakeside cafe and then went on a walk. It was peaceful, and so perfect for some fresh air during Covid times. You could also buy some swan food and feed them - a great activity for the kiddies. There's plenty of parking and lots of green space for exercise or just picnicking. The café has covid-safe toilets for the public.

Incredible green space! Large, vast well cared for parkland to roam and lose yourself within. Free admission and free parking to boot! Has two lakes, one with a fountain; lots of waterfowl and wildlife - saw a noisy, hammering woodpecker; lots of historical detailing; stumpery; outdoor gym; fairy garden; fabulous vistas; lots of variety of trees; waterfall; kids trail; play area; the Mansion restaurant; loos; assorted individual gardens.... have I missed anything.... probably! Has so much to offer everyone. Good and many pathways that are buggy and wheelchair friendly. There is also Tropical World, but there is an entry fee for that. This also has a café. First visit here but won't be my last as thoroughly enjoyed myself. Highly recommended.

What a great time we had! Loved the views and well-tended lawns. The Tropical House was pretty good as well. Being from South America, I was familiar with most of the animals there, but that only made it feel like home, especially the simulated humid environment. We sat on the grass and had a picnic and let the kids run around. It was a lovely family time. And best of all, the toilets were open.

Large, easy to access urban park opposite Tropical World - which is very well worth seeing in its own right - with plenty of scope for children, walkers, dogs and the disabled. It often houses large concerts. There is a cafe in Tropical World and a larger one in the park set on the edge of the big lake which itself has boats for hire during warmer months. Parking is free and available at two entrances but fills up quickly at weekends and bank holidays. Additional parking can be found in Street Lane, adjacent to the Park and Soldiers Fields, along Park Road or off many of the streets nearby on which there are limited restrictions, unlike many other similar parks. Very pleasant setting and an uplifting oasis of attractive space only a short distance from shops. Photos are from the lovely gardens set opposite the Mansion House which has a number of different themed gardens within it which are well worth seeing.

Roundhay park is a huge public space. With beautiful lakes and fountains. There are also wooded areas. One or two of the slopes are a bit steep for a manual wheelchair but there is always another way to get to where you want so we discovered. On the website I think there is a downloadable map. I really enjoyed the time I spent there. There is at least one cafe but I never went in so can't help with that. I never saw any public toilets either but again we didn't have much time to explore. The canal garden was lovely with fountains and a statue and a less formal layout. There were rose beds through a gate from the canal garden. Soany beautiful roses in bloom. We also found an area much more wild with fox gloves in bloom.

Very big Park in Leeds, you can spend most your time here... walking path is very smooth. There's a cricket ground, a little play gym for kids, water side, beautiful views, best place for picnic with friends and family, excellent car parking, Ice cream station and food cafe area 😋 10/10... Best place to get relax and spend the time for yourself... There's a tropical garden near by.. if you are fancy for a little zoo type...

The park is beautiful in general. We went last night for the Christmas lights and wow what a waste of money! 19.50 for some lights and music and they have even charged 15 pounds for children. Was a little a bit over the top? The whole experience was pretty good and a nice family evening out.

A lovely, vast place to walk, very little if any litter as there are plenty of bins which are obviously emptied regularly. There are lots of runners for the Park Run as the hills make a good route. Lots of polite, safe, non-paranoid, non-neurotic dog walkers which means its a great place to socialise a puppy. There are lots of birds, including swans, ducks, cormorants, herons, coots and robins, as well as other more timid wildlife. They're mostly quite used to the foot traffic and will ignore the public (or pose for pictures in a tree)! In the wet season it gets very muddy which obviously dogs and kids love, but those unsteady on their feet might be wiser to stick to the pavemented paths rather than venture to the far side of the lake. Great spaces for children's football, rugby, there are a few play parks, there's a nice cafe by the lake which is reasonably priced. I couldn't tell you if dogs are allowed in the cafe though as we ended our walk today elsewhere and it's the first time we've been with the dog.

The lakes in Roundhay Park are some of my favourite places to visit all year round. So much wildlife and natural beauty. Great place to jog too as both Waterloo and Fountain lakes are flat. There are often people walking their dogs even first thing on a morning so I usually feel really safe. They're are playgrounds for families to use or parents to meet up. The lakeside cafe is a gorgeous cafe. Positioned on the edge of the large lake, it offers good food and bathroom facilities, whilst holding the most delightful position to watch the sunsetting over the lake.

As an international student at Leeds University, I think this is a very suitable place to ride. From the university to Langdehai Park, it is basically a uphill road, which is a test. You can also play football in the physical park.

Always a lovely scenic walk with two playgrounds, Lake with ducks and cafe to occupy the kids. Nice starbucks 5 minute walk away, too. The gardens are lovely too with recreations of past Chelsea Flower show installed within. Tropical Word is currently shut but has a new cafe that looks fab when it reopens.

Lovely walk around the lake. But social distancing difficult in some places as path is narrow and some people don't respect others space. Good for walkers, dogs and children. If you are running go early or late as it can get busy mid day and is more difficult to avoid walkers.

Amazing park, great to bring the whole family or for your solo runs. Be careful running around the lake as it can be very muddy. Amazing views and and amazing scenery, what more can you ask for. Nice big park that's got a bit of everything. Plenty of grassy open space, with hard paths and trails leading around two lakes and through some wooded areas. Has the potential for some decent routes up to 10k with footpaths leading further into the countryside to add to this. There's a cafe and kids play area at the parking beside the larger lake too.

  • 4/5 Saffy R. 3 years ago on Google
My first time walking around the lake. It's beautiful and we were lucky with a fantastic sunny winters day with a frozen lake! Looking forward to visiting again. (It was very icy at parts - caused a few scary moments for kids and adults alike - so be careful).

  • 5/5 Magda L. 3 years ago on Google
Walking around the larger lake at Roundhay Park is always lovely but please wear sensible shoes as parts of the path can be muddy and slippery after heavy rainfall. As long as you are careful you can have a really enjoyable walk enjoying the surroundings. Well worth a bit of mud on the shoes and at the foot of your trousers.

Favourite spot with the grandchildren - they love it! Playground has lots to do with 2 climbing frames, swings, roundabouts, play train and fun circuit. Ice cream van even does non-dairy ice cream (with the usual). Beautiful lake with lots of swans, ducks etc, lovely walks, a little 'castle. So many different areas to explore, and a few delightful cafes to choose from.

Most favourite park of all-time! So big, so pleasant. Lots of different environments and hide away spaces for quiet time. Highly recommend, especially on a sunny day!

Massive park, loads to do. Fairy trail is really good, loads of ducks and swans. Little train you can get an any time return trip ride on too and good cafe restaurant and loads of free parking space.

A gorgeous open space with a cricket pavillion, road train, and plenty of shade for warmer days. I enjoyed a picnic on top of the hill in the middle of the park from where I took the attached photo. Truly serene.

Hi ,although quite a distance from us Roundhay Park in Leeds is just lovely, the walk round the main lake,1of2 is just the right length to feel refreshed and it's not muddy just a couple of parts that can need proper walking shoes. Kids love it , the mass of swans are a sight to behold and it brings back my childhood memories from the 50's and 60's of the schools converging here for children's sports day . Oh exciting times then.

Roundhay Park is massive. That's the simple explanation. I still haven't explored it all and I've lived in Leeds since I was 3. I'm now 36. This little excursion was in the teeming rain and we had a quick jaunt around the Specialist Gardens. Despite the dank, cold weather, the gardens we're a triumph. The bird song was trilling and I love the jarring randomness of a full lock. Not on a canal. Nice work! A lovely way to spend 30 minutes whatever the weather after we had visited Tropical World

Great park, especially loved the woodsy geology trails north of main lake in the park and the area around the canal gardens in the west. Nice restrooms available near the cafes, lots of shade along many of the paths. Kids will enjoy the Fairy Houses in the woods just north of the upper lake.

Always a great pleasure going to round bay park. The pride of leeds, round bay park is an amazing place to relax and enjoy the scenic nature scenes. Offering the vast acres of fields and a beautiful lake to walk around. I love coming here whenever I have time to destress and become one with nature and myself.
