Earby Holiday Hostel

Hostel

👍👍 We stayed in the Cottage part of the hostel. The standard couldn't be bettered : delightful, clean, cosy, fully furbished - better than all hostels that I have used and better than most B&Bs, and such a friendly welcome. Lovely wildlife garden at the back and patio to sit out and eat. Thank you... People often mention hostel, Matt, clean, great, garden, equipped, lovely, room,

What a place! After a horrendous day of walking, arriving at the hostel was everything I needed. It's fantastically equipped, beautiful, cool and cosy, immaculately clean, the kitchen is huge and has absolutely everything you need, the garden is lovely and the drying room is a life saver. But more than how good the property itself is, is the atmosphere that Matt has given it. It's a true hostel for hikers, bikers and backpackers; a place where you come together and share experiences and stories rather than just a cheap bed for the night. Matt himself is incredibly friendly - funny, interesting, generous and good company if you find yourself down the Red Lion (just a couple of hundred metres down the road, great pub) of an evening. Earby itself is also a very cute village with everything you might want; co-op, Chinese, Indian, butchers, couple of pubs, a gym, etc, and is set in idyllic countryside. Definitely worth a visit.

Best value for money stay (off) the pennine way! An easy 5* review. This is hosteling as it should be. Matt and his family provide a spotless bunk house, with a range of styles of rooms to suit your budget. The facilities are great, self catered and are conducive to conviviality - you readily get to meet other walkers . Matt is generous with his time and knowledge, we didn’t meet him but he’s like a genial wizard of Oz communicating through text messages. Earby itself is a sensible place to pull into on the PW, it’s got a co-op for provisions, and although it’s an extra few miles on from the usual stop at ickornshaw - it saves a few miles on the leg to Malham. Thank you Matt and family for providing this space for travellers on a budget - we paid £25 a night in July 23. The next hostel in Malham wanted £135 for two of us…😳

Loved it here. The lush little room with the cuddle chair overlooking the amazing garden. If you're staying with kids ask for the whernside room. It's just lovely. Simply putyou won't be disappointed staying at this hostel.

Great hostel. We stayed here as 3 families, booking the whole place. Great rates and a well equipped place. Cost and warm, beds comfy, lots of living and eating space.

Absolutely lovely hostel. Comfortable, bright, clean and lovingly put together with a full kitchen, cosy lounge with plenty of books and games, hot showers, and spacious dorm rooms. Matt is so friendly and helpful and has done a wonderful job of putting together a welcoming and relaxed hostel in a historic building. Bonus points for being open off season and for towels being included in the very reasonable price! If on The Pennine Way, would definitely recommend staying in Earby. The town has a co-op, a laundry, and many places to eat.

A great place to stay, in a quiet corner but in walking distance of the centre of town and easy access to open countryside via the waterfalls. Clean and full of character, cosy lounge with log burner (which Matt left us logs for :-) ) and a fully equipped kitchen with some key supplies in case you've forgotten anything vital. The treehouse family bedroom was a big hit with my sister's family: all bedrooms have bunks, a washbasin and lockers for valuables. Lots of stairs. Good drinking establishments close by, and a variety of options for eating out. Highly recommended.

A group of us stayed at the hostel last weekend. It was delightful. Matt met us there and was really friendly, chatty and informative about what to do in the area. The hostel was well equipped, warm, clean and tidy. I’d highly recommend the hostel for group bookings as there is a lovely lounge and two eating areas for everyone to congregate or simply hang out. Nice pub within walking distance. Dogs are also welcome which was really great for me!!

I haven't stayed in a YH before so didn't know what to expect. This one was clean and seemed well equipped. Showers were hot.

We had such a great stay at the Earby Holiday Hostel. It was immaculately clean and we had our own dorm room given the C-19 situation. Matt couldn't have been a more welcoming and generous host. Nicely situated next to The Red Lion pub and a 10 minute walk to The Punch Bowl (fab food!). Thank you Matt for such a great stay.

A fabulously positioned hostel which is clean, comfortable and very welcoming. The rooms were spacious and the beds very comfortable. The hosts were very accommodating and produced a superb BBQ and excellent breakfast. A perfect stop off point for any form of hiking or cycling. Go there- you will not be disappointed! Thanks again.

Bright, super well maintained hostel. Great stopover on our NtoS Pennine Way hike. Nothing was a problem to the very helpful manager, Matt.

Lovely comfy hostel that has miles of beautiful walks on the doorstep. Half hour walk (less to nearest pub) from village centre where you can find a variety of shops etc. All in all its a great place to stay.

Brilliant independent hostel. Very clean and each room is full of character. Location is quiet, peaceful and ideal for exploring the local countryside. A large garden with a stream running through it, waterfalls and a children's play area make it a great place for families.

A really lovely hostel with a fantastic family vibe. Hugely comfortable everything feels loved and is beautifully put together and a stunning woodland garden at the back. For walkers in particular and any one in the area looking for a really good hostel this is it.
