Rude doctors of A&E department!!! He is very rude, stand up and ask “why you are here, did not listen or even checking what problem of patients, and he asked “do you understand what A&E means? Just come back to GP and ask for appointment , don’t waist our time” and the nurse said “sorry because it’s 23:30pm so no doctors can cut tonsillitis this time , and all the A&E can do is give you the antibiotic” Sorry but we have to move here, that’s why we have to cancel appointment for cut tonsillitis from Pinderfield Hospital ( With high temperatures and vomiting after eating, what should we do, and make appointment with GP is always after 3 weeks) This is the worst A&E I’ve been, sorry but I can’t leave any star for it.

With the honourable exception of A&E, I cannot imagine in what universe this hospital got a CQC rating of 'good'. The scanning is a complete shambles in that they have little idea of why they are scanning someone, why the patient would want to know this, or how to report results other than in a chaotic manner; or lose them completely- so far for nearly 3 months. The blood-taking nurse left the patient looking like he had been severely bruised in a car accident - as commented on by the ct tech. The neurology department seems to be a little bit worse, and the story of his trip there brought his sister to tears.. Communication is poor and fragmented; many staff are unmotivated and those that try to help seem to lack access to the systems that would allow them to do so.

Absolutely amazing staff. Was in A&E recently then stayed on ward 8B overnight. The staff were all lovely, caring and helpful and I felt really looked after and safe. Also I have had past procedures here and the care has been great, and the biggest and best thing that happened to me there is i had my 3 babies there in 1998, 2008 and 2010 which were all amazing experiences and the midwives were fantastic and still are. My eldest boy needed special care and they were all amazing. Stay safe everyone. Thank you all xxx

today I was visiting my mother in the hospital who is seriously ill, after a phone call with the nurse I was told that I can try to visit her but that she is already in another department, when we arrived I rang and an unpleasant nurse came and immediately started from they won't let us in and she was very uncomfortable even though we spoke to her in a nice voice, the nurse was very arrogant, the nurse asked stupidly why I want to see my mother if it's not even 14 days when my mother is hospitalized with them ?? The nurse was rude and bad, so I left and talked to my mother on the phone and she told me that she fell is weak after the operation, I came back and talked to the nurse if she could explain to me why my mother fell? The complaints department is right next door that I can go there, so I thanked and the nurse started shouting at me that I could be at all happy that it saved her life. shame on such people and the hospital from employing such bad people

Things not quite right today. X- ray reception in confusion. The x-ray itself was not explained sufficiently and I did not feel entirely comfortable with metal objects being placed against my body without explanation. Altogether an uncomfortablel visit for me which is unusual I have to say. Staff often go out of their way to ease any worries.

I brought an elderly gentleman to the hospital for a x-ray today . Only patients were able to enter the department whilst l was told l couldn't stay, so l stood out on the corridor , which is understandable , but there was no where to sit . There were lots of chairs pushed up against the reception desk . Why weren't they put in the corridor.? I was stood out for 45 minutes which was totally unacceptable. Hopefully you will sort out this situation. Not many patients so plenty of chairs around.

Staff in the birthing ward need to be retrained in the simple art of communication !, over 4 hours wasted today because the birthing ward staff could not spend 10 second to pass a simple message on, which also resulted in extra parking charges! but yet when they are under paid they will sing and dance about it, well thank you for wasting my time and money and days work, i will make sure to vote against you ever getting a pay rise if it ever comes up!

I don't normally do reviews but really felt the need to. People moan about the waiting times in the a and e department I've heard people say not enough staff or doctors etc. If only they knew what went on behind them curtains . My mum suffered a massive heart attack. Not only did they resuscitate her and got her heart going they rushed her into hospital. Surgeons, nurses and doctors surrounded my mum and didn't leave her side they did there up most best! Even when they transferred her to Wakefield they accompanied her there. So in future just think there's more priority than someone with a bad cough, broken bone or in general pain. People fight for there life and they are priority!! Thank you so much calderdale hospital although mum sadly passed away you gave us the chance to say goodbye and I'll forever be grateful for that xxx

I think you should build bigger wards. For instance , the ward 8B is so small that the nurses are struggling to hide away from patients.

A&E were fantastic, we were dealt with and on our way home within 4 hours. In that time my dad was triaged, had bloods, blood pressure and ECG, was seen by a doctor, had a CT scan, has blood pressure taken again and then given his results by the same doctor and the doctor also made a referral to another department for my dad. The team were amazing and all very polite and really listened to me and my dad. Thank you very much for your outstanding care.

I was admitted to A&E twice in the same day and saw different staff as change of shift. Excellent care and professional and personal care given throughout my stay, can’t them enough for all they do and their dedication. Diane Collinge 4/5/22

Seriously upset about how long I've been left after a motorbike accident sat in a+e, staff are snotty and dont help much at all. Why do I pay my taxes to get a poor on its knees service, won't be returning, the place sounded like a mental health ward, 6 hours n not seen a doctor, so I went home with a high chance of infection. due to the wait been so long I couldn't bare it anymore. 1 failed patient I wonder how many more feel this way

I was admitted on the acute therapy ward at Calderdale royal hospital and the way they treated an occupational therapy student was appalling. It was disgusting to see as a patient and I don’t understand how these people could be allowed to take care of vulnerable people. I wish to never come here again and hope the student does well in the future.

Left waiting for 5 hours on A&E after a miscarriage, and bleeding! Not only that but they did not do any examinations to me, and the doctor was an a&e doctor who could not confirm I had a miscarriage, since she was not trained as she said. I was told to go home and if i had any shoulder pain to come back to the hospital since it could be an ektopic pregnancy which is threatening to life. They assumed it was better to be sent home with the risk of a life threatening condition rather than examining me on the 5 hours i spent there

I would like to thank everyone involved in my husbands care from the main receptionist, A & E staff especially the young man who took me to my husband and then walked with me to show me where the ward was which they were taking him to and to all the lovely nurses on the ward and surgical staff. Everyone was kind and helpful. The only complaint is the food which was terrible. Many many thanks to everyone.

Went to the ENT department to have my ear checked out after a really badly infected piercing the woman was beyond rude and basically told me it was all my fault it had gotten that bad even though it came on within a day and I couldn’t remove the piercing myself. She then went on to mock me when I said I was scared for having a scalpel to the ear and said a person of my age shouldn’t be scared and that I just needed to stop being dramatic like I understand it’s a Sunday but as a person with 0 pain tolerance and quite a nervous disposition I think abit of compassion and reassurance wouldn’t have gone a miss

Been a patient at Calderdale for a number of years pain management clinic. Sadly the service has been dreadful and I am aware of covid and drs having to work icu beds. I was informed that I had sky talk shield on my phone so a review was cancelled in may2020. This day informed that no further infusion will take place untill a review has been completed So as my treatment only last a number of weeks and 2 years down the road no breakthrough pain management were I almost took my life due to pain.

Maybe a good hospital once you’re inside but if you’re a visitor, patient or contractor travelling by car or van parking is almost impossible on site and on the surrounding streets. From what I have noticed the on site parking is largely taken up by staff making any visit for anyone else doubly stressful and problematic

My daughter was transferred from leeds after a stroke and surgery nurses are great, But the catering is well below what I would expect. My daughter keeps getting left out at meal times. The nurses are tell her she needs to eat, but it's impossible when food isn't being provided, I do hope someone takes this on board and dose something about it.

Absolutely wonderful care from highly professional staff. I attended a and e after a worrying looking ecg at my doctors surgery. I was sent immediately to the department for examinations. The care and attention that i received from all the wonderful staff over the next twelve hours was absolutely staggering. I was immediately wired up for ecg,s, blood tests, then xrays were taken, all of which were done with utmost proffesionalism, and it was just like muscle memory kicking in for the wonderful staff, to do all that they are trained to do. No stone was left unturned, and, to cut a long story short, i am still alive and kicking. My sincere thanks go to all these wonderful, caring staff who, in my opinion, deserve a well earned pay rise.Thank you all for looking after me. Even the wonderful lady who kept asking me if i needed some tea and toast.

A&E was terrible!! Being told that they didn’t even have the medication we came for AFTER 10 and a half hours of waiting (9pm to 7:30am) absolutely nackerd and tired. Doctor we saw was extremely racist and didn’t help that he couldn’t even speak English properly.

Took my 2 1/2 year old Grandson this morning (Saturday) with a continuing limp after twisting it Wednesday. From the moment we booked in with the very lovely receptionist, to triage, xray and then to see Martin the Advanced Nurse Practitioner, we recieved excellent care. Waiting time was about an hour and a half in total. It was clean, facilities were good. The main component you want was standard of care and they went to the extra mile with our toddler to make him feel happy and comfortable. Martin was so lovely with Arthur and involved myself and his mum completely. X ray staff were brilliant. A very positive experience from A and E. Thank you. Jo Jones ODP

I attended A&E yesterday with my son who has ASD. The staff went above and beyond for us . We were given a separate room (without asking) and he was given a sensory pack. The nurses took extra time and care in getting his obs( he doesn’t usually comply) by blowing bubbles and taking their time. The doctor who saw him also did the same and he allowed him to check him over with no issues ! This is the first time this has ever happened it’s usually a traumatic process for him but he was made to feel at ease . We were in and out with antibiotic within the hour ! Thank you

The A&E department's assessment of my daughter was prompt and got her the care she needed very quickly. The team on the children's ward provided impeccable care. They saved my daughters life and we will be forever grateful.

Paediatric assessment unit very rude when answering phone this morning yesterday early afternoon also phoned was told someone would get back to me had to chase up myself my son has stayed on ward 3 on a number of occasions. I had ran out of his metabolic medicine and was in urgent need of it the nurse in charge response was hes no longer an inpatient here we cant keep sorting out your medications sort it with your GP in a rude manner knowing full well as I explained it was urgent and my normal pharmacy gp dont have them and cant prescribe them as a hospital only can. so my son since yesterday missed his doses and I had to go all the way to St Luke's in Bradford from Huddersfield in the last hour before there pharmacy closed. Appalling attitude from PAU she just wanted to fob me off hope no one else ends up in my situation. The metabolic nurse was shocked when i told her this is what ward 3 in calderdale are saying!!!

Came yesterday for a head injury, needed a ct scan as I was finding it hard to stay conscious. Instead, they had me waiting over 6 hours originally, then when I asked how much longer I had to wait because I couldn’t stay awake in that pain any longer, she told me another 7 hours. Had to go home. Called 111 when I got home they said I need to go back and they should’ve seen me straight away. Why would i go back? You’d have to pack a sleeping bag to stay awake for the amount of hours they make you wait in pain.

The staff here are amazing, I do not know how they have the energy to run around after everyone all night; My beautiful daughter was born via c-section on Wednesday 26th of April. We could not be happier, they looked after my other half with utmost respect and were gentle during recovery. The staff in the maternity ward including the anaesthetists and surgeons are wonderful. Thank you for everything.

Pretty poor appointments given out by the radiology department and children's ward. Had to rearrange my son's CT after I was un able to get transport from Huddersfield to the hospital as HRI no longer deals with children. Almost as there was no communication between all 3 parties (myself, children's ward and radiology). Was given a 9:30 appointment by radiology and got told to go in for 9am. Letter I decided had scribbled put time ans was not clear as to what time I hD to be there for. Once there my LO was delayed medication prescribed by the limited amount of doctors which wasn't the right dosage and was getting on for nearly 6 hours at this point. The sedation had warn off and thought that I would call it quits. Don't want to be cruel to my 9 month old, myself or the person who drive me. Had to get another pointless appointment booked it. Pointless due to the fact that appointments don't really matter if they see anyone when they feel like it or have limited doctors. BRING BACK THE EQUIPMENT TO HRI FOR THOSE WHO CANNOT AFFORD TO TRAVEL UP TO CALDERDALEI!!!!

Was recently (20th Sep) in the minor injuries department for a broken toe. The nurses were lovely and had a smile for most people (I say most as some people that were waiting were just impatient and rude) The lovely nurse who strapped my toes together even gave me some dressing strip to take with me.

I had cause to go to A & E this morning in immense pain. I was seen extremely quickly and was given effective painkillers straight away. I saw a number of health professionals in the time I was there and all of them were friendly and professional. I have nothing but praise for the staff I saw. I'm glad this is my local hospital.

Had to visit A&E with my brother last week all staff were 100% very kind and looked after all my family but unfortunately the department was littered with rubbish and the toilets were disgusting not cleaned. I no it was late evening but they should of had a cleaner on due to what is going on with the pandemic at the moment. Also no hot drinks available as machine switched off. All staff looked after us at our time off need which ended in sad news.
