Nothing great about the place. It’s a dam built on a small lake which provides potable drinking water to Lonavala. The access road is pothole ridden and very narrow road to here. The way to top of Dam is not proper and during heavy rains may get slippery. The place is far away from the main market and is not worth to visit here. Kind of secluded place with not many visitors visiting this place.

Tungarli Dam, located in Lonavala, is a marvelous structure that deserves appreciation for its scenic beauty and engineering prowess. As an avid traveler, I recently had the pleasure of visiting this magnificent dam and was left awe-struck by its grandeur. The first thing that captivated me was the stunning panoramic view of the surrounding with hills. The dam is nestled amidst lush greenery, creating a tranquil atmosphere that is perfect for relaxation and rejuvenation. The calm waters of the reservoir add to the serenity of the place, making it an ideal spot for nature lovers and photographers. From an engineering perspective, the Tungarli Dam is a remarkable feat. The well-built wall stands tall, showcasing the expertise and precision of its constructors. The dam serves as a significant water source for the region, contributing to irrigation and hydroelectric power generation. Overall, my experience at Tungarli Dam was nothing short of extraordinary. Whether you're seeking solace in nature's embrace or marveling at human ingenuity, this place has it all. I recommend a visit to this awe-inspiring destination in Lonavala.

A must visit. Visited during Monsoon. One hell of an experience. Better keep your cameras ready and clear some space in your storage. Pack a blanket and spend some time there.

You get a great view of Lonavala city (on one side) and the Tungarli dam (on the other side) from this place. The wall is broad enough for walking, but make sure to be careful! Very accessible by road.

Must visit in monsoon. But few people make it worse having alcohol and cigarettes making it inconvenient for others.

I recently visited Tungarli dam, and I was impressed by its beauty. The dam is located in a scenic spot in the Western Ghats, and it is surrounded by lush greenery. The best time to visit is during the monsoon season, when the dam is full of water. The water reflects the surrounding hills and trees, creating a truly stunning sight. There is a small trail that leads to the top of the dam, but it can be steep and slippery, so it is important to be careful. Once you reach the top of the dam, you can get a panoramic view of the surrounding area. It is a truly peaceful and relaxing place, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who loves nature. Here are some additional tips for visiting Tungarli dam: Wear comfortable shoes that you can walk in. Bring a raincoat or umbrella, as it can rain during the monsoon season. Be careful of the slippery rocks. Do not climb on the dam wall. Be respectful of the wildlife in the area. Here are some of the pros and cons of visiting Tungarli dam: Pros: Beautiful scenery Peaceful and relaxing atmosphere Good place for a picnic or hike Free to visit Cons: Road to the dam is narrow and winding Dam wall is not safe for climbing Can be crowded during peak seasons Garbage is a problem around the dam Overall, Tungarli dam is a beautiful place that is worth visiting. However, it is important to be aware of the risks and take precautions to stay safe.

Visited Tungarli Dam for a great sunset view during a visit to Lonavala. A lot can be done to provide better facilities for the many people coming for a visit - improve the approach road which in very bad shape, provide many large dustbins - lack of this causes many people to litter the place up, etc.

A must visit in Lonavla, which I found thanks to Google Maps. Serene dam on one side and a beautiful view of Lonavala on the other. Frankly the most aesthetic point in my opinion.

Cool ! right in the middle of valley surrounded by hills. Water is clam and steady. Swimming not allowed and not recommend too. Just chill in morning or evening. Relaxing place. 3km from highway, bit steep road. Parking available.

It's a nice place to visit and the best part is it is easily accessible and it's free 😊 you can walk till the dam wall or take an auto from any place in lonavla. It has a wide sorrounding bank where anyone can have a safer short hike and will be a good time if you carry your food along with. Just be careful while you walk in the wall, however new fencing is deployed and the work is almost done.

It's a nice place to come to and watch the sunset as well as walk the dam walls. The water was low as we went in summer but it's a nice place to spend an evening with a wonderful view of Lonavala from a height

Very scenic place, best to visit during monsoons and enjoy the cool weather, waterfalls and some warm food available on the way! It’s a walkable distance from Lonavala station but private taxis are also available.

It is a very calm and serene place. Not many tourists come here so it is clean and peaceful. The last 200m road is bad, but keep going and you will reach the destination. There is a small parking space where there are 1-2 shops.

Best place to visit for sunset, Small trek required to do for reaching this place or cars go till that point

  • 4/5 Ashwani J. 10 months ago on Google
It was a wonderful experience in the rainy season. Try to visit in the morning as there will be less crowd. The road to the dam is very narrow. If you don't want to be stuck in traffic, park your car 1 km before the dam and walk. This will help avoid unnecessary traffic jam.
