Down the lane that runs between Dwarkamai and the Chavadi is the Hanuman Mandir, one of the oldest temples in Shirdi. Marked by a pair of trees enclosed by a circular railing, it is also known as the Maruti Mandir. Unusually, the temple faces south and there are two Hanuman images here, side by side. You may also notice a few weights and dumbbells in the corner. Because Hanuman is considered strong and vigorous and is the patron deity of wrestlers, young men find this an auspicious place in which to exercise.

There was an old temple( which was smaller when compared to present temple,) in the place of present Hanuman Mandir. In the old temple there were two idols of Hanuman of height about two feet. A big and beautiful six feet moorthy of Lord Hanuman is consecrated. The present temple is much more convenient for devotees to sit for a while and do prayer to Lord Hanuman.

Hanuman Mandir : One of the oldest temples in Shirdi, Hanuman Mandir also known as Maruti Mandir is an unusual one. It faces the south and has two idols of Hanuman side by side with a few dumbbells played in a corner; as Hanuman is considered to be the strongest of them all. This mandir is where sadhus used to live and where Baba used to visit occasionally in the initial days of his arrival in Shirdi. Here, at this temple, two Hindu festivals of Ram Navami and Hanuman Jayanti are celebrated in grand grandeur. Location: Located near Chavadi and Dwarkamai mosque, Mauli Nagar. Timings: 7 am to 6 pm on all days.

Maruti Mandir which is called as Dakshinamukh Hunuman temple is located near Chavadi. The Palki of Sai Baba which is taken out on special occasions also stops at the Maruti Mandir and the devotees praise Lord Hanuman and Sai Baba. The Idol of Maruti has one hand raised above his head and the other hand below. This is symbolic of human life, the upraised hand represent ego, pride and power, while the other hand represents sexual urges. There are two Hanuman idols side by side in this temple. This temple welcomed saints like Devi Das and Gangagir of Punatamba to stay there. Devi Das lived at Shirdi many years before baba came here. Baba stayed with them in this Maruti Mandir. Baba often went to this temple to have Satsang with them.
