In Melbourne and craving some hotpot and with 3.8k reviews and 4.8 stars, I thought we can't go wrong, but I'm honestly not sure why it's so highly rated. It's not bad, but I think it's far from a 5 star. The meat quality and selection is not that great. Also, at that price, I expect fresh house-made meat balls, not something out of a packet. Most importantly, the soup was not good. We got the chicken and fish maw and tomato and ox tail. Maybe some people will like this but I really did think it was way too salty and oily. They did have big chunks of the ingredients in the soup though, which was pretty quality (chunks of ox tail, fish maw, chicken etc) For sides, we got the pigs ear, brown sugar rice cake and braised ribs. All of them were so-so only, the ribs were particularly disappointing, dry and flavourless. Sauce options were limited, the house canned sesame oil was only 20% sesame oil. Seating and decor was unique and comfy though and presentation of the food was really nice.

Excellent food and service. We had vegetables and both meat and seafood options, and the relevant hot pots to complement the food. All high quality ingredients.

My first time for hotpot, a bit confusing what to order, apparently first thing you need to pick 2 soups cost you around 18$each soup/ you need to order 2, then pay for meat and veggie separately, I went with my friend 2 of us, it’s kinda big served and nice decoration, spicy soup it actually really yummy, for 2 of us it a bit too much, they should have small for 2, staffs are very nice and recommended for a group of family and friend could be more fun.

If you’re looking for a spot for hot pot, this is it. Fresh and high quality ingredients; they are a few broth selections, if you’re good with dealing with the heat - go for their signature character spicy beef tallow broth, for non-spicy, their dried fish maw w/chicken broth will not disappoint you! 😍💯🫶

I love this place for hotpot in the city ! I got the signature spicy beef broth with the character, and that was cute. There is so many sauces to pick from and a range of meats and vegetables too. I will definitely be back!

I was very wowed during my dining experience at David's Hot Pot. The quality of the food was amazing. We had the set menu which offered a huge range of food, I particularly loved the wagyu roll and seafood. The homemade noodles were beautiful in texture and the soup broth was also very good. Everything was fresh and delicious. I liked the decor, felt very authentic. Thanks for the invite, we loved it!

So much hype about this place so I had my expectation high. And my verdict is it is not worth the $$$. Yes they have fancy marinated fish and prawn in the small plates that RRP $60, but after it went into the hotpot, the sauce just washed with the soup.. Braised tendon for $17 and the serving is so small, I could get same quality and tasty tendon less than half price elsewhere.. Warning: there wasn't any notice that dipping sauce is charged $3 each bowl, it simply appeared on the bill, that's horrible practice. If you're leaving the sauce in self-service counter, customers expect it to be free to take.. It's simply overpriced. Also the receceptionist didn't understand English , she couldn't answer my question about the menu =.= I won't go back..

first time tried this one!✨ One of the the famous hotpot in town! 💛 ——— Got their Tomato Ox-Tail Soup and Mala obviously! 🌶🌶 Really love their sauces selection especially the XO Sauce!😚😚 also their Deep Fried Pork! YUM!💕💕 One thing that they might need to improve is the selection of foods are so limited, so not really much things that I could explore! But overall, it’s just good🤗

We are coming from Sydney and looking forward to eat David hotpot very much. But end up very disappointed. Not recommend. We ordered the David selection $49.9 which has 9 dishes. The chicken and pork are sour, which maybe already go bad. So we didn’t eat it at all. The golden soup is very normal, just using pork bone powder with hot water and the prawn in the soup are bitter(maybe they added pumpkin inside or sweet potato to make the colour golden). The spicy soup which is their signature has no taste… just spicy… But the fugues soup which is sweet is good though… at least it’s something we like. If you want to enjoy Chinese style hotpot, I recommend “Haidilao” more. Anyway, the staff are very friendly. 最後 那豬肉跟雞肉真的是酸的 那雞肉煮熟了也是很明顯就臭掉了 麻煩你們真的檢查一下。

It's a very proper Sichuan spicy hotpot. Love it!! And the chicken in the chicken soup base hot pot is so yummy. Chicken meat is very smooth. Veggies came with a good portion, not much, not small. Duck blood is also a must order 💯

Been wanting to try out David’s hotpot since I moved to Melbourne finally managed to go on the weekend. We ordered hotpot with 2 flavours. You got the option of 4 different spice levels when choosing the spicy hotpot and we went for level 2 but got served level 1 as per receipt. I love eating spicy food but I think their scales need adjustment as it would be pretty spicy for average eaters. The mushroom flavoured pork hotpot was super nice! Service was friendly and knowledgeable. I liked that this place is one of the few places with a good table size and enough room between tables and other customers. Portion size on the other hand could have been a little bigger for the amount of money you pay.

I like the decorations inside. We tried the normal beef tallow base and tonkatsu base. The base soup was really nice. We ate the nine dishes set as well. I didn't really like those. But I think if you like multiple options, then you could try. There are different sauce you can choose but charge $2per person. Totally, it's little expensive for us. But still recommended for someone who likes spicy hot pot.

Went here for dinner, they opened 5:30 on the dot, best to book as this is a very popular place in the city. Food selections are good, for vegetarian and meat eaters. Soup base also has good selection with spicy base with different level of spiciness. The place is clean and the service good. You can pay by card. Has seating limits as previous, very busy and heaps of people waiting.

This was an amazing experience! My first ever hot pot and the staff were friendly and kind. They explained all processes to us and showed us how to order and cook everything. Ingredients were fresh and delicious. You have a selection of sauces and condiments to choose from - your choices are endless. They were creative with napkins having them hanging from the roof.

Taste way better then the Pan#a , the pork soup was delicious, and the malla soup really kick in, but the table was so small , but overall the food are delicious, surely will tell our friends to try this restaurant and surely will come again in the future....

Soup and food was amazing! Really enjoyed food and overall atmosphere. There are 2 options for the soup, so you can chose non-spicy and spicy. I ordered “seafood flavor” and “mild spicy” for the spicy soup. Normally I like spicy but this one even tho less spicy, it was nice spice but too spicy for me. So next time I’ll order just one soup. If you wanna eat noodles I recommend trying potato noodle which is flat and clear. I loved it so much! And dipping sauce was good too!! I would love to come back during winter again!

Delicious hot pot. The spicy stock was super spicy. Good selection of meat, seafood, vegetables and condiments to add to your soup. Reasonable prices. Friendly and fast service. Simple decor but I think the seats could have cushions for comfort.

📍@davidshotpot, Melbourne CBD Last week we finally visited the famous David's Hot Pot in the CBD for dinner 😍 We tried their set menu which comes with soup base, 9 dishes and a plum juice jug - such a good deal and it was so much food for 2 people 🤯 Definitely one of our favourite places for hot pot and we would totally go back again to try more dishes, specially on a super cold winter night like tonight 🥶 What we ordered: 🥢 Set menu for 2 $150, including: 🌶 Soup Base 🍤 Seafood Combo 🥟 Prawn Dumpling 🍜 Handmade Ramen 🧀 Fresh Tofu 🥬 Chinese Cabbage 🥩 Premium Wagyu Roll 🍢 Tender Beef 🥘 Braised Beef 🎃 Sesame Balls + Fried Pumpkin Pies 🍑 Plum Juice Jug

Very good hot pot, super busy and nice soup bases. The mala soup base is great, very spicy and tingly, we had level 3 and was very hot, most non chilli eaters shouldn’t order this level but if you love chilli try this level or highest level 4. Would definitely return again.

Some of the most amazing, hard working and kind hearted workers I have ever met. They were able to help with our every request, were super generous and catering! I have never had a more pleasant experience dining here tonight, I strongly recommend this place and definitely will come back soon An added bonus was the food is consistently always really tasty here! Unsure about the staffs names unfortunately but the team on the 12th of September at 7pm onwards were the best!! Thank you for a great experience!

It’s been a while since we last visited here, but the service and hospitality is great as always. Staff’s super friendly. They have a lot of options to select from the menu. We were confident that we could go level two on spice this time (please be weary and take staff’s advice). Food was delicious and the staff member gave us a couple of bread slices just the bring down the heat level for us 😅. We always enjoy it here and staff is very attentive. Between the four of us, we ordered a lot, but were not disappointed at all. Great service, tasty food, always enjoyable experience.

All in all it was an interesting experience. Just because it's not exactly my style of eating would not be a reason for me to not give 5 start. But when you're only two people ordering dishes, who obviously have never been to this or a similar place before, a short hint would have been nice that the amount of food ordered is probably way to much. It's not about the money, but I don't really like it when food gets thrown away so I wanted to make point here. That's why it's only 4 stars this time.

This is an excellent place for a hot pot in the city. They have some nice soups to choose from and some sauces to make it to your liking. The selection of the food for hot pot is also very good as well as the dessert to choose from as well, including the sticky rice doughnuts and fried bananas. The staff are absolutely spectacular and they will be happy to guide you if you're unsure about what things you want.

I will definitely echo the sentiment that mild is not what you might think I know I can handle my spice but this was no mild I have ever had which, unfortunately, definitely tainted the experience Apart from that broth, we got another option which was plain but you could work between the two to spice it up to your level which worked well Service was excellent and quick. A lot of wonderful options and overall a really fun experience!

Awesome hotpot restaurant!! Amazing service, great decor and ambience. Very safe and convenient induction tops. The waiters were lovely and provided us with a lot of guidance around the way the process works and how we should order. Delicious options with a very wide variety. Unlimited access to a number of sides too! Waiters will also refill your pot as you dine. Would definitely go again.

This place just renovated recently and now appears a lot more spacious. The menu also got revamped and allows online ordering via your phone now. We ordered a David Special set with 9 different items to try out which wasn't on the menu previously. Would definitely recommend!

Its medium spicy soup base is hotter than ones in other hotpots. Food is all fresh and some are quite creative. e.g. the meatball made of mince pork with minded preserved egg is unique and special and yum. High standard service provided, the staff are attentive and proactive. A bit pricy based on the portion but it would be worthy for a hotpot lover.

Unique hot pot experience we've ever had. The staff are very lovely and helped us with choosing the food on the menu. This is the first time we've visited David's Hot pot and loved every single minute of the hotpot except for the mild spicy soup which both of us couldn't handle. My friend cried while eating the spicy hot pot. The food was excellent except for the fish which had a lot of fish bones and would have been good to have slices of fish instead. Highly recommend this place for hot pot!

The best hot pot I’ve been to in Melbourne! The food was fresh, soup vases were delicious (the spicy one is a must try) and the staff were super friendly. To order food you just use a QR code on the table, including drinks. The meats were delicious and the sauce table had a great selection of condiments. Note - they do not split bill so something to consider if you’re going with a large group of people 😀 I’ll be back!

When a restaurant surpasses 1K reviews, so do expectations. Customer service was quite good. Friendly and polite staff. Half spicy and standard soup base is always recommended. Straight forward process when selecting soup bases and other menu ingredients. Dishes were nicely presented, however quality of certain ingredients were hit and miss. Restaurant is currently promoting Snow Premium Lager beer. $5 cash for as many bottles your hand can grab and hold. If you can grab 4 or 5 bottles (and drink it all), SO WORTH IT. I REPEAT, SO WORTH IT. Not including beer promotion, quality vs. price, it's expensive. Overall, still worth a visit if you're a fan of hot pot.

(Translated by Google) The taste is quite good, and my friends like to eat it, and I will continue to order next time. Today, I’m lucky. I don’t have to wait in line. Maybe we went earlier. Although there was a little episode in the middle, it did not affect our eating, and the amount provided by the store was enough. I'm still worried about the taste, but it turned out to be more satisfying than I expected. I hope the store will engage in more activities.
