🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Today Felipe and I visited Southampton’s most important historic building, this unique Tudor House opened up for us to allow us to walk through its wall and discover 800 years of fascinating history 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 The 15th century timber-framed house is located across St Michael’s Square, with King John’s Palace, an adjacent Norman house accessible from Tudor House Garden, dating back a further 300 years. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Tudor House gives a unique and atmospheric insight into the lives and times of Southampton inhabitants throughout the years. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 A great cultural day out suitable for history lovers of all ages

Interesting to get a perspective on the history. Heard it used to be better with more authentic furnishings throughout the facility. For the price is a good deal and entertaining.

If you’re visiting Southampton this place is good for some historical interest. It’s a mix of different centuries all in one. From medieval times to Georgian and Victorian. Well worth a visit for locals and visitors. It’s compact and can be walked around in about an hour. Lots of different articles throughout the centuries as is on two floors with a garden. It has a small café inside too. There are restrooms for all with disabled facilities. It’s got a guide in most rooms for additional information. It’s relatively inexpensive to get in and I thought it was very interesting.

If you have a chance to visit Southampton and you love history, this is the place for you. This place has been standing for over 800 years and I applaud the effort to keep the place standing. The garden area is beautiful and I learned a lot about the house as I walked around each section.

We loved our recent visit, and we visited the café and had coffee, which was lovely. A lovely, friendly member of staff served us, and we'll definitely be back. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, and we both loved our visit.

We enjoyed our walk around the Tudor House and Garden, especially the interactive parts. The children enjoyed it too (aged 3, 4 and 8). It was really interesting.

Haven't been here since 1975, as a kid, when my Dad took me round. The floorboards are as creaky as I remember, but a lot of the small items on display have gone. Was interesting to hear about the extensive work done to save this lovely old building from falling apart. It had undergone many alterations by dodgy builders in its distant past, so needed a lot of help. The gardens and cafe are also worth checking out, as is the cannon up on the battlements.

This is a really beautiful historic house and gardens that has been very well preserved. There is plenty to see and keep children entertained with hands on activities. The rooms contain plaster work showing the original markings and interesting witch marks and also full of museum items linked to the history of the house and the Southampton sea trade. There is a lovely cafe which overlooks an informative medieval knot garden. There is also a small gift shop.

An interesting Tudor house, full of displays throughout the time period. Nice garden and cafe area. There is a short theatrical introduction to the house, that was very well done. Would imagine it would go down well, for all ages. Surprisingly good disabled access. Was incorporated into a major refurbishment, completed around ten years. Quite an interesting video details this.

Interesting little museum (with some very creaky floorboards) showing the history of the house. It has a garden, shop, and cafe.

Lovely place to visit, bigger than it looks and friendly staff. They guy who served us going in is getting married soon so good luck and the lady in the cafe keep on making those lovely cheese scones.

Beautiful little stop. We stayed for just over an hour on a Sunday morning to kill some time before boarding a cruise. It was an interactive experience and a lovely place to spend some time. I highly recommend stopping if you're nearby.

I booked Santa trip and was very disappointed! £16 per child wasn’t worth it the craft activities were not for 6 year old and two year old , not much effort on decor and the cafe all food came out different times and they weren’t over busy ! More effort needed all round !

This place was absolutely terrific. What a time machine it truly is. All the displays are expertly and perfectly done and plenty of hands on items as well. Perfect job detailing the rich history of the Tudor house and is fascinating. A great mix of the old and new modern digital technology to detail the rich history. And the volunteers were so friendly and knowledgeable, a font of knowledge. And the British sense of humor isn't forgotten with the ghostly visitations. Been to countless museums but never been to one where you can try on Victorian costumes!

I am rating this place as ok. First of all, the name is misleading as I expected this house to be somehow connected to the Tudor monarchy, but it is not. The house itself dates back to the 15th century, and its history is shown throughout the house. If you love history, then the house will get your interest. If, like me, you know and appreciate history and have general knowledge and seeing it is like seeing any other historic house. It gives a knowledge of live throughout of centuries and its a present place to see if you have some time to kill.

The impressive 'Tudor House' was built in 1491. The house was owned by Sir John Dawtrey, the man who worked with Henry VIII to fit out the Royal Navy. The house backs on to the remains of King John's Palace and Southampton City walls.

Very nice experience at the house. Everything was perfect. There are audioguides available, the price is correct. We visited it in a week day so there wasn't a lot of people. The garden is beautiful. Very interactive museum, so I think children wouldn't get bored. Also, the staff was very kind and helpful.

Read so much about Tudor House and the Tudors, so it was quite an experience to actually be here. It's autumn so the Garden is not as pretty as I thought it would be. Great to see all the effort to keep this place standing even after 800 years.

Nothing extra to see. Garden is nice. Staff very nice and friendly but I wouldn't recommend to go there. Very old building with very bad used potential. So sad. So much plastic decoration. I'm so sorry.

The tudor house is a 15th century style house that rose to its prominence because of the great hall it has together with the walls. It has had quite a few restorations in the past with a lot still going on especially because of its 15 tonn roof made out of heavy logs of wood hence the tilt that can be seen from outside. Its a good tourist spot to visit at Southhampton.

It’s a lovely little museum. It literally brings you back in time. First I thought it’s a bit overpriced but as soon as I went in I changed my mind. It is wonderful.

Lovely staff, beautiful afternoon tea, although we hadn't booked they were kind enough to do the afternoon tea anyway, as it was Mother's day. Beautiful mix of original Tudor and restoration through the years since. You can look out from the cafe onto the Tudor garden and walk around to read the details about the herbs, plants and flowers. Then take a walk down to the floor of the remains of King John's Palace (King John did not visit) where they have rescued a medieval chimney from when it was bombed during world war II and integrated it into the Palace. Great for kids, schools and adults alike with dressing up clothes, artefacts and displays. Supposedly haunted. I look forward to taking my grandson when he's a bit older as he would love it.

A truly historic place. Lots of cool things have been discovered here. We are talking about 800 years of history in this building. Nice price, beautiful view and a lot to discover.

I visited the cafe today and sat outside in the Tudor garden to make the mist of the sunshine. Excellent service with freshly prepared food. I definitely recommend. If just visiting the cafe you do not need to pay the entrance fee, but the museum is worth a visit, if you have time.

Really knowledgeable and approachable staff, left to walk around at our own pace and photos encouraged.

The house is entered via an AV presentation that explains the history. This is very good but after it rest is disappointing. The collections within the rooms are not very inspiring in their presentation. Rather expensive for what was an hour visit.

Had a good time here. Lots to see and learn and the audio tour was very helpful. Even the kids were kept entertained by the child friendly version of the audio tour. Only downside was the member of staff on the admissions. Seemed a bit bored and unenthusiastic.

Through the ages my family has been involved with this building. It was wonderful to visit, learn more and stand where once my ancestors once stood. Beautifully restored x
