Family-friendly park with lots of wide open spaces to spread out and not feel that everyone's on top of each other. There's a narrow gauge railway for kids to have a ride on, some interesting wood carvings, etc. There's also a big play area with swings and slides, etc. The cafe and restaurant are really well stocked with fast efficient service. There are loads of picnic tables outside and the toilets are really high quality for a park. There's even a dog wash station. The visitor centre is packed full of info to tell you all about the history of the original military hospital dating back to the Crimean War in 1856. You can visit the remaining buildings with various restoration projects to take you back through the years.

Lovely country park with walks and interesting information boards dotted about with several play areas for the kids. Large cafe (with toilets). Dog washing area!! Fairy garden. A TRAIN on a track for rides (pay for this). Also the small war cemetery, which is quite emotional to visit. All in all a great day out for all the family.

One of our favourite country parks. So much to do! The beach is so nice! The park, train, fairy garden, cafe, chapel are all beautifully maintained and looked after. It is easy to spend the entire day here. We usually take a picnic and then get an ice cream from the van - but the cafe is lovely too! Car parking can be quite expensive when you stay all day but it’s not too bad for the amount of time you are there. You can also jump on the train for a ride too!

A lovely place to breathe sea air and have a relaxing stroll pretty close to Southampton which allows to avoid typical weekend beach traffic. The parkland and seafront are nice, there’s enough parking (we paid 5Β£ for 2 hours, it’s 9Β£ for the whole day). The toilets are decent though located only near the visitor center. I was just a bit frustrated by the cafΓ© as there was basically nothing to eat. Although the ice-cream, especially chocolate one, was delicious.

Brought my 16 month old son to see the dinosaurs and also got a lovely walk around the park. It has everything from a very small beach and view across the sea, a massive park for the family to all run around in the good weather and a restaurant and cafe. There was a couple of children's play areas to keep them entertained as well. Something for all the family. And then Jurassic Encounters was great too with all the life like dinosaurs and then the few children's activities and food stalls at the end. Overall a great family day out.

Overall a lovely place. Good walks and a lot of history. Toilets were clean. Parking expensive which I noted before my visit but plenty of free parking a 4 min walk from the road nearby and just walk in. Lots for kids. Dog friendly. Also can walk the coastal path too. Would recommend.

Beautiful park, ideal for kids. Combines kids activities and a little beach front to play. Not many bins available at the beachfront. Parking is a bit expensive.

Great place for a day out, full or half. Great walks, lots of space to settle in for the day, train rides and parks. Lovely pizza from the restaurant although service was slow. Car parking is quite expensive.

Not big fan of Southampton, but this neighbouring beautiful park is definitely worth a visit. Lovely walk, plenty of things to do with kids and pets. With some interesting history behind it and even some architecture to enjoy.

Beautiful country park, with a great museum (with really helpful staff volunteers), great place to take the dog and for children to play. They had clean toilet facilities and a couple of nice cafΓ©s. Plenty of parking too. Dogs are allowed in most places, but not the museum. Parking not cheap, but it goes to the upkeep of the park.

Huge open parkland on the coast with good views over the water. Loads of space to play ball games and for kids to run around. Has a cafe and good toilets in the Chapel. The Chapel is lovely. Paid for the tower tour which was great. Climbed 166 steps for great views. Was allowed to ring the bell too. Nice hour walk to cemetery, woods, along rail trail and back. Really peaceful walk. Very busy place generally at weekends, but so large you can find a quieter spot somewhere.

This is a great place to relax and have a picnic. If you don’t want to sit down on the ground there are tables and chairs located in front of the Royal Victoria Chapel. The Chapel itself is a great place to visit. It has a variety of items on display and a detailed history of the building. Outside, not far from the chapel, there is a play area for the children. On the opposite side of the field is a garden which has a carved out picnic table and displays made from 140 year old cedar trees. Parking is plentiful with ticketless machines dotted around. Worth a visit.

Beautiful scenery, lots of walks to explore. Ramps to the Solent beaches. Lots of Geocaches. An icecream van parked in idyllic view. Has been raining lots, but most paths are pretty ok underfoot (walking boots my choice). Off lead fields for dogs (some fenced, but didn't see a secure one) , many to choose from.

Lovely place to visit, interesting history with the military hospital building to explore, with lots of nursing memorabilia. Entrance is free to the main part of the building ,but entry to the bell tower is Β£3.75 per adult. Definitely worth the climb up the steps, but not for the faint hearted . Parking seemed expensive . There was a cafe ,small gift shop area in the main lobby ,plenty of walks around ,and of course the beach. All the staff we came across were very helpful and friendly

Love it here really great day out for the family. Took our sons many times when they were young, and have now taking our grandson 3 times already. Reasonable parking prices, and the train is affordable for everyone. Dog friendly. Lovely open space with nice walks.

Full of history, went during winter so could go up the tower. Amazing place, play park looks good for the kids, little train during the summer. Can go down to the docks for a swim too.

  • 5/5 Laurence A. 9 months ago on Google
I've been coming here for 30+ years. Only now have I walked in a different direction from the chapel. There's so much more than the wonderful water side fields. Check the woods out instead.

Nice cafe, miniature railway and a nice walk too, plenty of history to explore, mainly WW2 and the old hospital

  • 5/5 Jesse D. 1 year ago on Google
Lawn to play games or just touch grass, dog friendly with even a dog wash machine, ice-cream (inc. for vegans), beach, little train to ride in. I had a great day there, and my mobility needs (pair of shoulder crutches, and I fatigue easily) were no problem. I went there for a steampunk meet

It's been quite a while since I'd been to Victoria Country Park and I was pleasantly surprised. Great place to explore. Good for children, and a great place for exercising dogs. It's nice to walk along the shore or fly a kite. Great place for a picnic - particularly if you have one on the banqueting table in the Fairy Garden. There's a lovely little tea room in the chapel. The parking is a little pricey at Β£6 for all day, or Β£2 for an hour, but there is free parking if you don't mind walking. All in all, a lovely spot to while away an hour or two.

Nice park, in a stunning location next to the sea. Lots to do and keep the whole fnaily entertained. Also includes the beautiful hospital chapel building.

Lovely waterfront country park, lots of wooded paths to get out of the sun on hot days, or large open fields for sunbathing or playing ball with the kids, designated BBQ areas with on site BBQs, fields can be hired, cafe with plenty of seating, the museum inside the Chapel is must see. If you want piece and quiet stay away from the seating area by the main cafe, it can become yap yap central with the amount of dogs. Overall a lovely well kept park.

This park is a lovely place to visit and is easily accessible from the village of Netley. Getting to Netley is fairly easy just head through woolsten via weston and weston shore which leads to the village. The park has a great history with it once being the site of a military hospital back in Queen Victoria's time with the Chapel being the only part still standing today. It has a great restaurant which serves food during the day as well as coffee/ tea and ice creams. Plenty of mens/womens/ children's and disabled toilet facilities as well near the restaurant and in the restaurant so you'll never be caught short. It has plenty of play areas for the kids and ride on railway which operates during the summer months which is always great fun to ride on. The Chapel is a museum and has many displays of the hospitals history and there's also a stair case that leads up to the top of the tower for a truly great view of Southampton water and all the surrounding area. Lots of outdoor seating as well which is always great in the summer months.

Great Park on the water up the top is BBQ areas you can rent for a small fee which is great for family or friends to get together and enjoy the park. There is even a dog was on site 😱 it will be nice once they get the toilet block all finished.

  • 4/5 Jarunda R. 2 years ago on Google
Visited the play area there and rode on the train. Both were good fun. There is also a small tent next to the cafe if you want to eat and drink outside but out of the elements.

One of the great open spaces in The New Forest. Big carpark, toilets and usually an icecream wagon. Great place to visit and close to Rhinefield House, and Brockenhurst.

  • 5/5 Andrew P. 2 years ago on Google
Parking cost is a bit pricey, but the country park great for a walk and take in the history of the site. Not much remains of the old military hospital other than the chapel but the information boards explain the background and operation of the site and mark the outline of the bounds of the buildings.

One of my favourite places.... Lovely places to walk, some woodland, along the sea and there is a swamp area.... Also along the cemetery.... You can get takeaway drinks, snacks and hot food..... Play area for children and picnic areas

Lovely old hospital remnants to be seen. A great history lesson for all who visit. Peaceful restful with a great historical story. Take you're dog πŸ• if you have one, sometimes they let the dogs drive the train especially when it's the dogs birthday. Woof woof πŸ•.

Well maintained Green open spaces, woodland, small shingle beach, play areas, nice views. Great for dogs, Lovely spot for walks, picnics etc Anybody interested in wartime and/or victorian history can find informative installations dotted around relating to the Royal Victoria hospital which once stood here. -Expensive parking.

Lovely park for walking and taking dogs out. Lots of open space to go with the family and have a picnic. I would rate it for 5 stars but because of car park that you have to pay and lack of bins around I give only 4 stars. There shouldn't be a charge for this (it was Β£2.5 for a 1 hour).

Best place to go with the kids from 1 to 101,you won't be disappointed. Museum is now open so very interesting day out with views across Southampton Water and the solent. Enjoy!

A great park, with extensive trails to walk or gravelled paths if it’s raining. A great play park for kids, as well as a delightful cafe by the old chapel. The cafe has loads of picnic tables in front of it, with views over Southampton water; a great place to end your dog walk. The cafe deserves a mention as it has a decent range of food options, including a nice steak pasty and very decent vegan pasty & sausage roll too. The drinks were pretty good as well - the hot chocolate actually a decent one too, which was a pleasant surprise; perfect for an autumnal lunch.
