I've been craving ramen lately so I decided to give Sakura a try. The restaurant itself is situated in Bedford Place, directly facing another Japanese restaurant, Nara Sushi.  Inside had a nice ambience and staff were friendly and attentive. I ordered chicken katsu ramen and fried tofu. I didn't have long to wait as the service was rather quick and efficient.  My bowl of ramen was delicious and was served piping hot. It was exactly what I needed on a cold winter day. However I couldn't help but feel disappointed with the chicken katsu. The meat wasn't as tender as I preferred and just didn't taste very fresh. I've had plenty of ramen in the past and although still delicious, the one I had at Sakura left me feeling underwhelmed. On the other hand, the tofu was soft and silky and quite refreshing. Overall this place is worth a visit. Might go a second time for sushi.

Really nice food and good services. The hell tonkatsu ramen is the best , and the sushi was amazing especially the lava roll ,spider maki and also the Aburi cheese salmon . The food is serving in big portions. Also getting benefits if you pay by cash. The decoration of the restaurant is also very Japanese style . Overall love it so much. Would definitely come again next time

After long time I finally visit this restaurant. I ordered my favourite beef chilli Ramen with some side. The Ramen was not very good, soup was with out any flavours and taste and meat was little bit hard. But the side order was good and the best part that I really like it was Jujube Tea. I drink this tea for first time and it was really nice. Staff was very polite and restaurant was clean.

Absolutely loved it here. Felt very authentic (never been to Japan so I can only imagine). Ramen was really tasty, the set was really nice with the beef and the sushi is up there with the best I've had. Very quick service and all very friendly. Pretty good value but there was lots on the menu we wanted so ended up spending a lot. Easily done here if you are hungry.... one complaint was the Coke was flat. Small worry though in comparison to everything else. Really lovely and will return.

Lovely and lively spot for Japanese food. I keep on coming back for more. Lava roll and unagi don are a must-try! The curry with rice can sometimes be a hit-and-miss in my experience. The restaurant gets rather busy during peak times, so it is best to book in advance. Otherwise, it is usually fine to walk in.

I had the black garlic tonkotsu ramen with char siu. The broth was very nice and the char siu was good too, the only let down was the ramen noodles itself. Mine and my partners noodles were clumped and stuck together like a block and a bit of my noodles was also undercooked… apart from that I enjoyed my meal still. Had the lychee lemonade drink and that was refreshing.

The best Japanese restaurant in Southampton with cozy environment, friendly staff and great food. We tried lava roll, kimchi fried rice and Takoyaki which were all super yum. Highly recommend for everyone when visiting Southampton and is a big fan of Japanese cuisines.

Absolutely superb! We had a wonderful experience, the staff was very friendly and gave helpful recommendations. They were also taking covid precautions such as wearing masks and asking people to sanitise upon entry, that we greatly appreciate. Paid appropriate attention to my nut allergy as well. Everything we had was delightful: Southsea maki, age gyoza, the pork and chicken katsu curry and the Japanese pancake with lemon custard. We also had iced lychee lemon and ginger honey tea. The menus are very well designed and have images that we found very helpful. We will definitely visit again!

The food here is the best around. My partner and I travel down from Brighton way, just for a date here. we always order a ramen which come out perfect every time. I don’t know how they get the eggs so perfectly runny but they always do. 10/10 in my opinion! Additionally the sushi there is also incredible and the waiters are always so kind and friendly.

Lovely meal and Sakura! First time eating there and having sushi! Would recommend to everyone! Only gripe was kinda being pushed out once bill was paid. We were talking and finishing drinks but was told people are waiting for a table.

Really impressive and busy japanese restaurant. Please book in advance as it gets busy. Food is fresh and served with style. The sashimi portion was very generous (compared to London) and had a wide variety of sources. Had a great time and will come back!

I'm pleasantly surprised about this Sakura place considering its in student zone. The food was so fresh hot and tasty, cooked fish was soft and tender much better than getting a greasy chippy!! Pickled ginger slices on point Service was excellent 20% off on a Saturday!!!?

My stomach is very happy!!! Kids loved the yakiniku and soba noodles! Tempura was very crispy and sushi was just perfect! We are Japanese and we loved everything we ordered. Staffs were very kind too. Avocado and cucumber mayo roll (inside out roll) that came as part of the set meal (teishoku) was awesome! There was only one toilet for woman and one for gender-neutral/wheelchair, so I felt awfully sorry when two of my kids occupied both.

From the warm welcome to the authentic ambiance, the restaurant emits a delightful atmosphere. The sushi was fresh and flavourful, and the ramen we had was one of the best we ever had! Absolutely delicious. Sakura Southampton is a must-visit for anyone seeking an outstanding journey through Japanese cuisine.

We love Sakura and visit every few months. We usually have the ramen because it's so tasty. They are usually busy, which is another testament to how good they are. We think the prices are reasonable for the quality of the food. The service is attentive and friendly. We highly recommend Sakura.

An absolutely delightful and authentic restaurant in Southampton. Beautiful decoration and swift and graceful service. You are transported to another world. We ordered Tonkotsu Ramen, Teriyaki Salmon, Broccoli Butter, Moriawase Tempura, Sashimi Moriawase, Hanetsuki Duck Gyoza, Tempura Ice Cream and Mochi Ice Cream. Everything was brought out swiftly after ordering and tasted absolutely delicious. One of the beat restaurants for Japanese authentic food. Thank you.

Lovvvvve Sakura, by the way , you need to book a table because we didn’t and we almost can’t eat there. My favourite dish is lava roll ! The fried rice is also good , it brings me my memories in China back.

We arrived with no booking for lunch and after ordering our food came almost right away, very quickly and we were very pleased with it! We thought it was some of the best salmon and ramen we had ever had (particularly the teriyaki salmon), and everything was simply delicious and perfect. Unfortunately my father-in-law fell ill mid-lunch, but the staff were just lovely and very accommodating to us, making sure we were all okay, had anything we needed and provided him with cold drinks and any care needed. We are extremely grateful for their help, many others would have wanted us out of the restaurant as soon as possible. Many thanks for all the staff on Saturday 14/08 for all your help and understanding. We will be coming again and recommending this place to all our friends. :)

Very nice food, good customer service, fizzy drink were a bit flat, as from a bottle. Clean toilets and very busy eatery. Great set meal and price.

I always liked this place, but this time I was very disappointed. I don’t eat raw fish and I ordered vegetarian sushi, all of them smelled with fish, it was disgusting. A tiny bowl of ordinary cabbage with seaweed topping was 4,90! In the menu it was claimed that it is a seaweed salad, no cabbage mentioned- Chuka wakame (salad). Seasoned seaweed salad £4.90 Very disappointed with the restaurant I used to like.

Our favourite Japanese cuisine restaurant in Southampton. Friendly staff, the food was amazing and as close to actually being in Japan as you can imagine. Brilliant vibrant dishes and traditional flavours

The sushi is significantly better than the Ramen, clean tasting salmon and large nigiri. The ramen tastes like your grans chicken soup and no tare or aromatics, desperate for some umami notes. The service was rushed and the card machine was thrust into my hands with the prompt to "press green, continue" or words to that effect, this was a prompt to add a tip to the bill. I feel that to the tech illiterate this is a scary proposal that ends up in forced tipping. If zero stars were possible I'd rate it so. The decor is ok. The tables are a generous size.

One of the best Japanese Restaurants I've tried. They can get very busy at times due to overflowing customers. It would be better if you booked ahead of time.
