Went for brunch and was able to get in on the heated patio even without a reservation. Unbeatable price if you’re looking for a bottomless mimosas or Bloody Mary experience! But even not doing that, still a good spot. The salmon Benedict and quiche were so good. The cinnamon roll wasn’t my vibe (crunchy and not super sweet, so if you like that, get it!). HIGHLY recommend the potato cakes!!! SO YUMMY!

The bacon & aged cheddar quiche was the best I’ve ever had! The crust was warm and flaky, the caramelized onions were placed perfectly so as not to be the main showpiece but an amazing extra. The beignets are a must and blow cafe du mondes in NOLA out of the water!

I had a pretty tough time with this place, the food didn't quite hit the spot, portions were on the smaller side for a really high price, it felt a bit crowded, and the staff seemed a tad slow. Cocktails were not as good as a regular restaurant

Great chicken and waffles. I should’ve asked for extra syrup- the only syrup I got were those tiny dribbles on the plate! Very good food though. The patio was nice but a little loud- be prepared if you have bad hearing. I’ll definitely come back to try their other foods :)

Speakeasy kinda vibes! Great spot for date night, romantic drinks and dinner with your love. Drinks menu is pretty comprehensive and the cocktails are one of the best I have had in this area. They have a patio at the back but close that early and the middle area closes around midnight while the bar is open till close. Only suggestion to them is lower the music levels and gradually dim the lights as the night progresses. Will go back again next time I am in the area.

This place has one of the best happy hours in town. Wonderfully crafted cocktails for $8 and awesome small eats options (Catalan fries and tuna tartare are a must). Their burger is also really good. We’ve gone a couple times for happy hour and will be back to try dinner or brunch soon.

The wait staff was friendly and knowledgeable (although the host was a weirdo). We had great drinks--Manhattan, Nt yr prblm, and a Martini. For food it was the pork belly fried rice and the branzini. Both were great. We enjoyed it very much!

This was such a lovely brunch experience! Bar Charley’s is a cozy place with charming wait staff and a delicious menu! They were gracious enough to accommodate our unusually large group of 16 people. The service was exceptional. I would highly recommend this place, but make sure you reserve well in advance. Their reservations run out quickly!

My friend and I came here on a Saturday for brunch and we had incredible service!! Our server was very nice and cordial. We came here particularly because the two of us love chicken and waffles and there are only a few places in the DC area to get that. It was good, nothing too notable or above and beyond. But the waffle is nice and sweet. We ate in their outdoor patio area which was nice but the heaters weren’t that strong so there was a gooooood breeze the whole time.

I was very disappointed with our experience here. Sat at a small table, while I understand there were 12 of us, the tables were very short, and the long rickety benches didn’t offer any back support or comfort. For over $37 minimal a person, for a small piece of quiche, a few pieces of lettuce, and the divided, tip taxes, and fees… we were overall shocked by the lack of quality in service, food and portions. The beignets were totally flavorless. my quiche crust was totally dry, and frankly hard to eat. They say, bottomless brunch, (which we didn’t even select) but they don’t advertise, they only have one single beer on tap that is bottomless. (and our waiter couldn’t even tell us what beer that was) Our friend is vegan, and despite calling a head and being told, that would be options, there were no vegan options. When our waiter and host were asked, we were simply told they were no other options except the bland topless french fries. After an argument with the waiter about how every single thing on the menu included egg, so there were no options., she said there is no way she could be aware of all the items on the menu, but they were only 10 items…. Our water jug had floating bits. , we barely had service, and were very upset by the quality and quantity of food for the price. If you would spend more than $20 auto burger that is smaller than the palm of your hand this is the place to go.

Vibes indoor are mad chic but outdoors is nice too if you're trying to keep the novel coronavirus at bay.

Ordered the Ribeye and Tri tip. The food looked great. Tri tip was ok, ribeye was practically flavorless. No seasoning. Even with salt, au jux and chimchuri - my wife ended up returning the plate as it was just not good for her. I struggled to cut the Tritip - mostly due to severely dull steak knives. The Mac & cheese, hashbrown and wings were good. We sat outside in the heated patio - I had sweat dropping off me because the heat was so high. Just overall not what we expected based on reviews. Might just be bad luck. They removed the steak from our bill and offered free dessert. Not sure if it's common but we had a 20% Service Fee added for 2 adults and a 1 year old.

Missing menu items, weird service, 5% menu surcharges, less than great food - Bar Charley has a lot of room for improvement. Went to Bar Charley with friends because we wanted filet mignon and BC had great reviews - but while filet mignon is listed on their website, it isn't on the menu at the restaurant. Instead they offer strip, ribeye and steak frites - more on that shortly. One huge red flag for Bar Charley's is the very small print at the bottom of the menu - the restaurant adds a mandatory 5% surcharge to every order. Not for the staff, not for gratuity - just jacks up the prices by 5%. Ribeye is listed for $55 but the real price is $57.75. Why not just make the prices what they are and not lie about it? So weird. The waitstaff shows no interest in the customers with huge gaps in time and service between courses and drinks. My companions and I ordered a strip, ribeye, and steak frites. When the steaks were delivered, the waiter lowered the lights in the restaurant so low we couldn't see the food - which made cutting around the massive amounts of fat on the steaks impossible. The strip steak, promised to be nearly fat free, was lined with tough bands of fat and gristle. The ribeye was more fat than meat. And the steak frites didn't come with frites but salad. No steak knives provided either - we were left with used butter knives to cut the steak until we could flag down a server and ask for something better. One huge pet peeve - after we finished the appetizers, the busser took our dirty silverware and placed it on the table. This is terrible sanitation - table tops are high touch surfaces usually not well cleaned. Additionally, the busser was handling other dirty objects around the restaurant and goes directly to handling guest silverware. In an expensive restaurant like Bar Charley, silverware should be removed and replaced with every course. Drinks were mediocre and the dessert wine recommended by the waiter was so bad no one at the table could get past the first sip. Incredibly expensive dinner for really poor quality food and lackluster service.

What a wonderful dining experience! From the friendly and helpful staff to the lovely cocktails and fantastic food, we will be back! The hangar steak was tender and just the right amount of game. The burger spoke for itself as well - from a delicious garlic aioli to the perfectly fried egg on top. Highly recommended!

The space is compact, my party was sat in the extension section which was outside, and the seating was a little uncomfortable, but it was warm...too many tables and chairs in that small section. The best part about this place is the all night brunch, the brunch menu was not brunch friendly to me as far as options, the options are very dainty and or elegant...which doesn't fulfill you, the best option is the burger and fries....if you wanna leave full from food and not drinks, I had the Korean wings which was good because of the sauce on the plate, the wings were not seasoned, I paid $16 for 5 wings, and $18 for a Classic Margarita which was served in a small glass, the drinks were tart and not good, I wasn't satisfied at all, and I will not go back. O one last thing, the waitress surprised us with shots that were amazingly good, WOW right...the best drink we had all night, I truly appreciate her

Cozy tavern like atmosphere, well prepared food, decent whiskey list. We had the Beet Salad, Brussels Salad, Hanger Steak, Pear / custard dessert. We were originally near the National Gallery where places tend to fill up quickly so we took a short walk to this nice little spot. Unpretentious nice atmosphere.

Stopped into Bar Charley for their happy hour, which is excellent by the way. Good food and drinks, great service, and an awesome atmosphere. Started out on the patio, however it was a little buggy so we moved inside, which was not a problem. Both the patio and inside area are beautiful. We did not have a reservation but were seated right away as a party of two. It started to fill up by 6 or so though, so if you are planning on getting there any later it may be handy to have one. With $8 happy hour cocktails I will definitely be back!

Great service. Fun and down to earth servers. (Least I did, whatever girl was working with the dyed hair gets bonus points if management is reading, she unintentionally wingmanned so props. Also she was funny) Highly recommend the giggle water. However all the drinks of theirs I've gotten are great. I haven't tried the food outside the fries, which didn't knock my socks off but im not going to judge an entire establishments grub based on one happy hour dish unless it was a total flop. I'll be back (Sit inside. Mosquitoes are bad around there.)

My friend and I met for happy hour here after seeing they do happy hour all night on Mondays! Perfect if you’re working past standard happy hour times. The cocktails were fantastic as was the food. We shared the burger, wings and fries that are on the happy hour menu - all delicious. And the staff here are so friendly along with the other patrons. Vibes were immaculate, we will absolutely be returning!

Nice hole in the wall 🧱, then came covid and they added outside seating that is covered. Got the wings and tuna tar tar with happy hour 16 Oz. It's affordable and the staff is great and it's not only because our server ran after us to return the credit card I had left behind.

I do not like quiche. I won’t eat it. I tried the quiche here and it’s the best I’ve ever had and would recommend to anyone anywhere. The fresh beignets are far better than those found in NOLA and worth the side addition. I love this place and will be back

Was neat place. Unique, cool vibe. Good drinks. Little disappointed that they were out of 3/4 entrees we wanted to order. But I'm sure another time supply would be in. We went late on Sunday evening.

So amazing!! The food, service, and drinks were fantastic. We highly recommend you go during happy hour and try out the ribs, burger, and catalan fries!! Not on the happy hour list…but you MUST try the Baltic Sea Bash cocktail if you enjoy a sweet yet strong drink! It’s perfectly balanced and delicious. For a strong and non-sweet drink, we recommend the sazerac. Also the strawberry shortcake dessert was perfect!

I came in for drinks with some friends. I do not drink alcohol but I can say with certainty that bar Charley had some of the best mocktails I've had. I'm not sure what the bartender was doing but they were great. The service was excellent. The manager Chris was fantastic, he was nice, patient and a very funny guy. He came over to check on us to make sure we were enjoying our time and to make sure that my mocktails were to my liking. I'll definitely be going back.

I want to write an amazing review about the bottomless brunch but thanks to the mimosas I dont remember all of it. The price was affordable. The entree plus bottomless is the way to go.The chicken and beingets were great. Service and staff were friendly. Definitely will go back another weekend.

Overall quite underwhelming. Service is good though they are busy so it’s slow. Food was okay. Burger was way over cooked despite being asked for temp. No soda or tea available. It’s alcohol or water. And obviously no alcohol drinks that need soda.

I adore Bar Charley. I continue to come back here. The manager I always run into is a wonderful guy. All-night happy hour on Mondays and brunch are their strong suits. Get the truffle aioli no matter what you order and try that incredible Charley sauce on the weekend brunch burger.

Nice location. Great food. Entree portions are sized for people to get appetizers and dessert. The Hanger Steak was cooked perfectly and tasted awesome, just wish there was more sides with it. Wait staff was on top of things with drinks and water. Went on a Sunday evening and it was 25% off steak entrées. Get there early if you want the ribeye it will sell out fast. Seating was tight for our large group in the front corner booth table.

Bottomless mimosas was so fun here on a Saturday morning. Food was okay, but I did order a rather boring dish (eggs and bacon). The atmosphere is 10/10! Cozy, intimate, hip. Service was 6/10, as they kept haggling us to leave and stop drinking mimosas 😂

Great food. Mimosas and Bloody Mary morning. Price is just D.C Don’t be late for your reservation. Have a current id and Covid immunization proof. (Photo was fine).

This has all the signs of a hole in the wall from the outside but it is ANYTHING BUT. The entrance is on the lower level and is easily accessible from 18th St. You walk in going down a set of stairs and will be greeted by their host. You'll see the bar to the left and front dinning room the right, it is quaint and inviting. The host wasted no time in making me feel welcomed and explaining the lay of the land known as Bar Charley (bathroom location, covid-19 protocols, how to move in the restaurant, etc.). The patio is where they were seating guest this evening. The projected lighting set the ambiance of the establishment, chill, welcoming and relaxing. My server was Ashton and he walked me through the menu and was great in suggesting things accordingly. He brought to my attention that Bar Charley started as a steak house and their stake program is well versed and executed. So a filet was ordered. It had magnificent plating. It presents cut in half so there's no surprise once you dig it. It was cooked exactly as desired it was smooth to cut through. The parsnips puree, maitake mushrooms, ramps pesto, and fiddlehead ferns were not for garnish they were carefully involved components that enhance the cut of protein they were paired with. I want to cook this at home but why when they have it here 😁. I enjoyed 3 cocktails: The Which Doctor - Aeromatic, smooth taste, well balanced. Great glass (see pic) Baltic Sea Bash - Bitters give it an enticing aroma that make you take a larger sip than expected. (see pic) The Giggle Water on Tap - They play the lime and passion fruit well so that they don't overwhelm you on the back end. (no pic, my bad) Great desert options but I want to give myself a reason to come back. I loved it. I think it's a great place to have an intimate night out with your significant other or to wine down with your crew. I can only imagine what brunch would be like here (stay tuned for that update on the review). Definitely ask for Ashton, he'll look for ways to enhance your experience every step of the way. Oh and Kirk and Spock are waiting to say hello to you in the bathroom.

Great drinks and decent vibe but they close early sometimes and if you’re there when they wanna close, it doesn’t feel great

Bottomless brunch was delicious, crispy potato cake is unlike anything I’ve had. Servers are very attentive and were very accommodating with my allergy.

Lovely hidden spot in Adams Morgan neighborhood. Happy hour selection is very small but every single dish is worth trying. My date an Old fashion lover, said his drink was amazingly good. This location has seating indoors and two large patios in the backyard with heaters all over the place. Regardless of where you decide to seat i can assure you will be warm.
