Growing
up
in
N.W.
DC
I
was
privileged
to
be
exposed
to
an
array
of
different
cultures.
Being
raised
in
that
kind
of
enlightenment
equates
to
access
to
a
smorgasbord
of
worldwide
FOOD!!
On
this
day
I
chose
to
go
to
@shaggarestaurant
for
some
delicious
Ethiopian
cuisine.
Located
on
6040
Baltimore
Ave.,
Hyattsville
M.D.
this
spot
gives
you
a
true
taste
of
Ethiopia
🇪🇹
with
its
traditional
ingredients.
Menu
items
include
salads,
chicken
entrees
like
Doro
Alicha
(tender
chicken
simmered
in
onion,
garlic,
ginger
and
herb
butter
served
with
a
boiled
egg
placed
on
Injera
bread
$15),
Yesiga
Tibbs
(Beef
cubes
sautéed
in
onions,
green
peppers
and
herbs
$15),
as
well
as
fish,
lamb
and
vegetarian
options.
For
a
quick
lunch
we
chose
an
order
of
lentil
Sambusas
(pictured-pastry
shells
filled
with
your
choice
of
chicken,
beef,
or
lentils
$5
for
three),
and
their
Doro
Wot
(
pictured-tender
chicken
simmered
in
spicy
red
pepper
sauce
called
Berbere,
garlic,
onions,
and
herbed
butter
sauce
$16-instead
of
a
boiled
egg
we
got
potatoes).
You
can
eat
the
entrees
and/or
sides
with
a
fork
but...I
recommend
that
you
lay
your
fork
down
and
eat
this
meal
with
the
Injera
(a
slightly
sour,
fermented
flatbread
with
a
spongy
texture
traditionally
made
out
of
teff
flour).
Eating
this
food
by
tearing
off
a
piece
of
Injera
and
scooping
up
your
meal
just
feels
right,
as
the
textures
and
flavors
blend
together
perfectly!!
I
highly
recommend
@shaggarestaurant
via
quality
food,
grand
customer
service,
and
a
calming
environment...especially
if
you’re
trying
Ethiopian
food
for
the
first
time.
Again,
the
customer
service
was
grand,
they
exuded
patience,
we
were
treated
warmly,
and
there
are
just
straight
up
kind
people
in
this
establishment.
Parking?
There
was
plenty
of
parking,
so
no
worries
about
that
at
all.
Y’all,
I
took
some
quick
snapshots
of
the
artwork
on
the
walls...simply
beautiful!!
You
can
get
your
food
to
go,
delivered
via
third
party
or
eat
inside
the
restaurant.
Look
I
know
you’ve
had
Ethiopian
food
before,
GO
THERE
and
have
theirs!!
If
you
haven’t
had
Ethiopian
food
before,
GO
THERE
and
have
theirs!!
Trust
me!!
That’s
it.
