#Tara Devi Temple, Shimla The Tara Devi Temple is a holy place, located 11 km away from the Shimla Bus Stand. It is positioned amid a thick forest of oak and rhododendron and offers scenic views of the lofty Himalayas surrounding the town. The temple is very famous among tourists as the clean and fresh atmosphere here helps them relax from the day to day worries of life. It is believed that the goddess Tara Devi came all the way from Bengal to Himachal Pradesh and so this temple is dedicated to the goddess of stars. Tara Devi Temple is an ideal place for a person seeking peace and tranquility.

Tara Devi temple is located in top of a hill near Shogi By-pass.. Sometimes Google map shows wrong directions to the temple so don't blindly follow maps..There is a sign board on Shimla highway which shows direction to Tara Devi temple, follow that route only..The last 2.5 Kms of road to Tara Devi Temple is very steep and has many hairpin bends..if you are not confident about driving and has a very old vehicle.. please please don't go from your vehicle because it's narrow and steep and could be fatal and the parking to the temple is ample but many times police controls the entry of vehicles to the temple in case the parking is full.. There are some shops where you can purchase Prasad and plastic toys for kids near parking..There are 2 temples on top , main temple is dedicated to Mata Tara Devi and another one is dedicated to Shiv Bhagwaan, Shiv temple is approx 100 mts. away from main temple in back side..both of the temple are made up of wood and stone in Kath Khuni Architecture.. the location of the temple is too high that you can see a view of Shimla City very clearly..The temple closes at 8:00 pm..There is a bhandara hall too where you can have bhandara on some special days . Try to avoid going here in rains because of steep road.. Overall great and peaceful experience and amidst serene environment..

It's a beautiful place, it is so beautiful and mesmerizing that I could not express in words what I have seen through my eyes there. One can spend their whole day there it is so peaceful. Temple is situated at 7200 ft. above the ground level. Must visit place if you go to Shimla.

I visited in Oct 2021, the  template has the backdrop of the Himalayas. There are forests on one side and road on another. During festivals like Dussehra and Navratri, a huge feast is arranged which is attended by a large number of devotees. It becomes very difficult to visit the temple during snowfall and rainy season because it's at highest peak and road is narrow. It's 12 kms from old Shimla bus stand and buses are available, ticket fare is ₹30.

Best divine temple near Shogi. The road is very narrow and steep so driving is tough drivers must be skilled enough to attempt. When you reach the temple it is on top of the hill with 360 degree view. Very beautiful you can see Shimla city and all the top mountains. Sky is so clear and cool breeze blows. There are few shops with good warm clothes and essentials. Food and snacks are avaliable in shops. The.temple is very clean and beautiful.

A beautiful temple. It's close to Shimla roughly around 15 Kms from Shimla city centre. It is located on a hill top. The road to the temple is quite curvy and steep and would require a skilled driver . Once on top, the view is beautiful. The temple is beautiful. A new temple structure is being built presently . If you visit the temple on Sunday, Tuesday or Government holidays, there is a bhandara ( free food) . We were lucky to have this bhandara and the food was simple but delicious. They served rice along with 5 dishes! One should definitely visit this temple of Goddess Tara Devi. Mobile signal is avble and you can get 4G connectvity even at the hill top. Ample parking space is avble. You can hire a cab or take a government bus to reach here. A word of caution - Beware of monkeys. There are quite a few .Do not carry any food in hand.

Its a nice old temple in Shimla. No wait time. Not muchof a crowd. We went by a taxi. It was a nice travel. Silent quaint temple. Tara Devi temple is one of the most visited religious places in Shimla. Opens 6.30 am till 7 pm It is installed at a height of 7200 feet above sea level and situated around 11 km away from Shimla city. There is a Shiv temple Shiv Bavdi nearby. According to a story which traces back to 250 years, the king Bhupendra Sen built the temple and after he had a vision in which Goddess Tara Devi asked him to install a template there so that people could get her blessings. He also installed a wooden statue of Goddess there.

A must visit if you are in shimla no matter how far you are from the temple just go there once and you will never regret, if you are looking for some amazing pictures this is the go to place if you are a religious person its a must visit and if you want to feel the beauty of the nature and want to have a scenic view this is the go to place, there is no entry fee but make sure to maintain dignity and not to make the place dirty, avoid taking leather wallets and belts inside the temple, the best way to reach the temple is vie your personal car but if you want to take the bus there is a bus which go from old bus stand to Tara Devi temple from 1pm and the last bus which comes back from the temple is at 4pm there is no bus stand up there so keep the timings in mind, the place has really soothing ambience and in our case it was directly visible from our hotel room, hence must visit Jai tara devi ma.

A must go site and divine place if you have time while coming back from Shimla...Just 12 km from Shimla the way goes 7 km steep up to this temple...But, once you reach up, the view of Shimla is just amazing...The temple is very beautiful...A big parking space is available near the temple entrance...But driving up is a critical task so I would suggest to only go if you are good at driving...

Tara Devi temple was built by Sen dynasty kings sometime around 1766 A.D. The fort of Giri Sen is still there in Junga. Tara Goddess in Hinduism and Buddhism is second of the Ten Great Wisdoms called ‘Mahavidyas’ and is known to be a source of all energies. The word ‘Tara’ is derived from Sanskrit root ‘tr’, which means to cross. The word ‘tara’ also means star in many Indian languages.

At an altitude of 7200 Ft from Sea level near beautiful Shimla Hills is this Divine Temple. This is accessible by any Vehicle and no hike is required for this. The place is serene and provides calm and quite space for visitors. An Outing with family at such place will provide a good bonding experience. There are in total 3 Temples situated at different locations. First is Tara Devi Temple itself, Second is Mata Dhudhadhari Temple and Third is situated 1 km away Shiv Temple. The path to Shiv temple is amidst small forest of Rhododendron and Nut trees. Few People visit Shiv Temple and I encourage everyone to visit all three temples when At Tara Devi, Shogi Bypass.

It's situated at top of the hill, When the cool breeze touches your face at the temple, you will love it, you will get relaxed in the calm environment of temple, If you start early then there would less traffic on the way, Although the turns are steep and very curvy but if you have driven on hilly roads it would not be difficult for you, there is ample space for parking on the top, This place is a must visit if you're planning a trip to Shimla

Tara Devi one must visit this temple of Shimla, a glimpse of the temple gives a feeling of vibrancy. Beautiful architecture and you get 360 views. Don't forget to go to the back side of the temple and the most amazing part of the temple is a Shiva temple in the jungle which is a 10 minute walk. You will definitely get peace of mind. Here are some beautiful pictures.

As you enter the premises, a sort of calmness prevails and one gets soaked in the bhakti of Ma Tara Devi temple in Himachal Pradesh India. Along with HER deity there are other deities of Ma Saraswati and Ma Kali. The entire view from the main balcony is mesmerizing and fills one's heart with joy and happiness. After taking blessings from Ma one can have a Bhandara on Sunday and Tuesday. A place worth visiting.

Whether you're a devout devotee seeking the blessings of Goddess Tara or simply seeking a haven from the chaos of daily life, Tara Devi Temple offers something for everyone. The breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and valleys further enhance the experience, leaving you feeling rejuvenated and inspired. The intricate architecture and vibrant colors of the temple are a feast for the eyes, while the positive energy pulsating through the air fills your heart with peace. The shopkeepers here are friendly, honest and helpful, adding to the overall pleasant experience. A special highlight is the Bhandara, a community meal served every Sunday and on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month. Sharing a meal with fellow devotees is a beautiful way to connect with the community and experience the true essence of this sacred place. If you're looking for a place to find your inner peace and connect with your spirituality, Tara Devi Temple is an oasis waiting to be discovered. So come, immerse yourself in its divine atmosphere, and experience the magic for yourself. You won't be disappointed.

First let me tell you something about Tara Devi Temple (Mandir). So, king Bhupendra Sen built the temple and after he had a vision in which Goddess Tara Devi asked him to install a template there so that people could get her blessings. A newly built wood and stone temple with slate roofing in traditional hill architecture style sits atop the ridge at the east edge of Tara Devi hill.Tara is a female deity in both Hinduism and Buddhism who personifies compassion and offers salvation from the suffering of rebirth and death. She is thought to have been born of empathy for the suffering world and is regularly invoked for protection, guidance, and deliverance from difficult situations. Outing with family at such a place will provide you peace. Beautiful place with amazing views and surroundings.

  • 4/5 Rajat C. 7 months ago on Google
Despite the high number of visitors the temple has a peaceful and a divine vibe. An added bonus is the bird's eye view of the hills from the temple. Afternoons are a bit crowded with people lining up for Bhandara but overall the place is well maintained.
