It's better to eat at this restaurant than to order in. The food delivered is much less in quantity and the packaging makes the experience worst. Both the Kanji containers were cracked and all the Kanji had spilt over everywhere, right from the Zomato Guy's Bike to All over the road and my house. The Papadams were crushed beyond recognition, and the kadala, Kozhuva Fry was all ice cold. Why would anyone serve ice cold deep fried fish? Very Disappointing experience. Eating there is better, especially because they serve in proper earthen mud bowls.

A heaven for all the kanhi lovers! Different varieties are available. Tastes yum too!! I loved the normal kanhi and the curd combo though

Nice place, small, quiet tucked away. Homely feel to the space. Surrounded with all the urns filled with gooseberry in salt brine, it took me back to the good old days when my grandma would have her kitchen's loft stacked with these clay jars of various sizes and shapes and a familiar yellow colour - mangoes and gooseberries and Bilimbi fruit all sliced or soaked whole in brine. Their kanjis are fabulous, so also the preparation of their fish frys. Definitely worth going to in small groups of 4-5 max. They don't have capacity to seat more.

It's a delight to come across restaurants that uphold our traditional food styles and simplicity. The presence of various styles of kanji and pazhamkanji sets it apart in this area. The food served was incredibly delicious, and the kozhuva fry was especially remarkable. Despite having only 4-5 tables, they also offer delivery as takeout. Interestingly, even though the restaurant is named "Nellikka" they served salted chow chow instead of nellikka, yet it still tasted amazing. It would be great if the staff/owner keep a smile in his face and do the conversation in a friendly manner, may be it's his nature :) but deserves a 5 ✨

Nice place with variety of kanji available. Nellikka special kwnji, thairu kanji, payar kanji, pazham kanji. Kappa and meen curry. These are traditional kerala foods. If you are looking for traditional food this is a good place. Just like the old time nadan kanji at any time as they say in their tag line. Delicious food.

In the food scene that's drowned with fast food, this jewel of a place holds true to its name and serves authentic Kanji ( rice soup with traditional sides) for a very nominal price. A full bowl can definitely suffice anyone's craving and is very well prepared and hygienically presented. The space is a bit small and tucked in, however these are the kinds of spaces that offer "great food" i would definitely recommend the *Nellika special kanji*

We came in for dinner and ordered one Kanji with curds and one with boiled green moong dal (payir). The Kanji is unsalted (add Salt to taste, I didn't feel the need to add) and made with red rice. It was served in a giant clay bowl, about 500 to 750 mls of Kanji. It comes with a chutney, sprouted red lobia, 1 papadam and brined chou chou on a side plate, you can get more of these one you finish it. We were also offered more rice, which we declined because we were full! Also ordered the mussels, which were sautéed with masala and very nice. Total comfort food! The gentleman who served us explained the menu in English and was very attentive! It's not not easy to spot from the road, head to the back of the building.

Excellent place to have kanji. With all those side dishes that you can buy, it's a kanji lover's place. The fish fries are of good quality. All this is at a Reasonable price.

Oooooo....... The one thing that pleased me in the beginning was their traditional setup of serving the food in those earthern pots that itself is so pleasing and cool. And then the next is the atmosphere. They have done some great hardwork to putup something like that. It is so relaxing there. Then comes the food. If they have done this much then won't they do it on the food . Yep ,,,,,,,,, the food they give says their dedication in it. U will get many varieties of the standard kelara rice pudding (kanji) all at reasonable prices only. They are served hot and boiling 🤤😌. Along with normal curries u can order fish fries too. To ensure the trustness in the making they have displayed the cctv video in the dining hall itself which shows all places of the shop including the kitchen where the magic happens. Cash payment and UPI payments are accepted here. Zomato and swiggy orders can also be placed here..... Nice stff and services. Only one thing I was unhappy about was that once they have fish fry that was cold and all socked in oil....that might be because it was already 3 pm and tht doesn't count with the normal meal time. But whatever rest I like all and I'll be visiting again and again.....

Genuine Malayali cousine... Unlike other restaurants in Kochi, you do not find any Bengali Chef or steward here. Super economical and awesome nadan food. Highly recommended....

This small restaurant serves a small number of items but freshly cooked food. Don't judge it by the appearance. We did a take out of a few dishes and we thought that it was well-done. There is limited seating in the restaurant itself.

Best kanji place in kochi. You can order from zomato or swiggy as well. Recommended dishes are their payar kanji, kakka fry, chammanthy 👍. Tried fishes as well but not fresh and you can avoid fish 👎 Overall recommended for kanji 👍
