Park is being taken over by homeless again. RVs are entering and setting up shop, picnic shelters being used to construct makeshift homes. Lots of garbage. Please end this, Seattle. Back today and the RVs left a refrigerator and lots of trash. Decided to park on other side of loop to get away from their own rubbish. More tents in the gravel parking lot. Homeless wheeling their luggage or doped up falling over as they sit on the picnic tables. Dog did not want to walk thru park because some dude was yelling at nothing.

Great place to come with the family. We came during the winter lights event and it was fun. Keep your kids close as it’s easy to lose them once it starts to get dark. Also, pack snacks or some food if you don’t want to spend a paycheck in their food courts.

Enjoyed casually exploring the rose garden at woodland Park and it was very quiet and beautiful. Some of our group went around identifying plants, others chatted on benches and a couple even went and did a Pokémon raid.

Woodland Park is a big park with a lot to offer. There are several athletic fields (baseball, soccer, tennis) along Green Lake Way and there is a big wooded area that is great for some urban walk or job. Adjacent to the park are the zoo and the peaceful green lake with a fantastic lakefront path. Restaurants and cafes are not on the next block but not too far away either. It seems so easy to plan a half day in this city oasis.

The beautiful #wildlantern festival is back at woodland zoo Park and it's better than last year. It gets super crowded after 6, try to get there by 4 to experience the park when the footprint is low. Have fun and Happy holidays

Woodland Park has a lot of different areas in which part of it is a zoo! Great place to stroll around and enjoy nature while enjoying the summer breeze. Yes, you can still hear the cars. On the north side of the park, you will find additional park benches, places to park, and lunch spots with some fenced off sports activity areas. If you go East from the north side of the park, you will run into Greenlake Park. All in all, a cool park in the middle of the city which boards another place to explore!!! Keep it clean. Thanks, Seattle Park and Req team!!!

The best zoo in Seattle, the Africa Savana area, is very nice.

Gorgeous older tree-filled park well cared for by horticulturists. The Zoo and the Park are on 92 acres of gorgeous land. Park has many picnic tables, great walking trails, and tall, mature trees with wood chip undergrowth. As of early August 2021, all restrooms in the southern park by the picnic tables were closed; nearest public bathroom besides the one by the ball courts. If that one's closed, next best bet is a grocery store several blocks away. There are a few discplaced peoples / homeless encampments around the picnic shelters, last I saw, but they are mainly respectful and keep to themselves. Bringing a dog definitely brings you smiles! Further north by the off-leash dog park there are a few trails where you can see owls, squirrels, ravens, all sorts of songbirds, and other wildlife. Sit and listen for a while, enjoy the park, you won't regret it. :) Third pic there's an owl in the park (who was quickly joined by a second), other pictures are just representative of some of the beauty of the park.

Great park. Great community. Close parking. Lots of community tennis balls. Decent water spot. Only one dumpster for waste bags and it's outside of the park fencing, minor inconvenience. Be on the look out for sharp roots and rebar that get exposed in the ground from time to time.

Plenty of parking near the gates. Beautifully laid out habitats, exhibits & lectures. Definitely "family friendly". A great experience.

It was ok. The food was fine. Friendly staff. Some of the animals were not present when we went.

It was pouring on the day we visited, lo and behold, all the animals and birds loved the rain, they all were out and about and we took 5 hours to roam around the zoo. Saw all animals and birds except 3 or 4 and spent an amazing day. Take time and carry snacks with you. They do rent umbrellas too for $2 per day and will keep your ID cards so that you return umbrellas before leaving but it's a great option for Seattle weather. The staff is super awesome! I haven't met people like the ones here before. They are knowledgeable and respectful. They are more than happy to chat about various things and also show your directions for places you are interested in visiting within the park. There are many volunteers on weekends that make it easy to find help when you are new to the place. It's a must visit in Seattle.

Zoo lights have been completely revamped and updated! They are better than ever. Tickets were pricier than I remember, but it was worth it. We looped twice. One of the parking lots was closed and the other full to the gills. Ended up having to park in the street.

PANDEMIC EDITION: My neighborhood park, where you can take a long, peaceful walk through woodland nature, take a deep breath and be reminded of what to be grateful for. Also, there are some kids having a blast playing lazer tag, so there's that too. Plenty of space to social distance. I chose to stay masked until I found an isolated spot to sit, everyone is kind of doing there own thing but isn't uncomfortable. There's a sense of grounding while sitting/walking among the mighty firs that really helps during this time of stress and uncertainty.

I can't believe parks like this exist in the city! At points it looks and feels like you could be in the middle of a forest hiking, but then there's casually also tennis and a lake. Also, A+ spot for spotting cute pups.

This area is beautiful w/o being overly coiffed. There are numerous benches, as well as a delightful "sensory garden". Highly recommend!

I love the experience here. But parents really need to keep a better eye on their small children. They kept running in front of my wheelchair.

Nice family trip! More of the animals were out and about a year after the pandemic. Maybe the animals had a funny feeling too...

I've been going to the zoo and the park for years. This review is for the park at 50th and woodland park ave. I love it. It's huge. It has tons of picnic tables with grill and covered picnic area with water and grills and if you rent a shelter, which is totally unnecessary they'll turn in the two outlets so you have power. The picnic areas are wooded and beside them is a huge great fields the whole park is covered with gentle rolling hills and canvases a little valley. Crisscrossing the entire landscape are well tended trails and paths to walk, jog, or bike. My dog is even buried here.

Very nice park but just watch out for wildlife. I had a big coyote running 30 feet in front of me into my path.

It's become tent city with every bbq and sheltered areas claimed by the homeless. Like in many Seattle parks, drug usage is out in the open. Having said that, safe to walk/jog through during daylight hours (with my dog:).

FF the signs for parking, walking and running. One way directions. Don't be the one without compliance. Follow the signs it says wrong way don't be the one that can not read a sign. Don't be the one that didn't even finished 1st Grade. Things people have to adapt, too. Be courtesy with people around. Park is closed but there are still availablity to walk, walk your pets, run, tennis, soccer, volleyball, baseball, basketball, golfers have to make reservations for tee. Especially Football. Just bring your equipment and safety precaution CDC compliance rule book. Be safe and Healthy!

Out of Seattle's MANY MANY MANY large and beautiful parks, Woodlawn Park most definitely comes in near the top of the favorites list! Lovely little trails, Restrooms, mini golf, BBQ's and so much more, on top of the fact that it blends right into Greenlakes massive recreational wonderland!

During covid-19 it's only by appointments I understand it is a great zoo...I have friends working there...I'd like to work there myself...

We pre-purchased the lantern lights tickets before Christmas and have been looking forward to going since. We were annual visitors to the Zoo lights so we interested to see the difference. I have to say the lanterns are much better, much easier to see, more engaging and lifelike. The park felt safe and distanced, the one way routes are also a big plus and help keep the flow. All in a we had a great experience and will definitely be going again.

  • 2/5 Luke K. 3 years ago on Google
A LOT of homeless people which is fine, but I would not take your little kids there. I went there to go biking and there are a few jumps around there. again the ONLY reason that I gave it a bad review was that there are homeless people ALL OVER THE PLACE.

  • 2/5 S W. 3 years ago on Google
I would have rated this higherin the past but parking access has been very limited for aeveral months and areas I used to enjoy are now filled with people residing in tents. I understand why that is, but it limits recreational use of the park.

A hidden gem in the Northeast Seattle, WA Valley. A rescue center for wildlife that had either been injured or owned illegally in deplorable conditions. Now these animals are well cared for, kept in habitats that are clean, well maintained, and in a beautiful setting resembling their natural habitats.

We had a blast! It was sunny and brisk. Many of the animals like the bears, wolves and elk were very active. Beautiful grounds and displays all set up for the holidays. Everyone was masked and conscience of individual space.

The later, lights were really, neat to see, especially those moving, steaming and, blowing. It would have been nice to see them, combined with last year's lights. It's a very spend trip thru the, zoo at night save up your money.
