Love the small mom-and-pop feel of this store. Brings back childhood memories. Not a fancy store but has most of everything you need for fish and supplies. I support this store because it is the only fish store in the greater Seattle area that takes in orphan fish that I know of. I live on the Eastside and whenever I'm in Seattle, I try to stop by. I have 3 tanks, largest one 55 gallon tank. Been there almost every weekend past 3 months as I take my son to Lynnwood for rock climbing classes. I would get few fish at a time to try out this store, and now almost completed my 55 planted tank with 3 angelfish, 16 Cardinal tetras, 5 flam tetras, 2 siamese algae eater and an otocinclus. The algae eaters are from different store before I heard about this store. I heard about this store when I got tired of my 15-20 convict cichlid species tank and need to give them away. When i dropped off the cichlids at the store, I was grateful that the store will try to find homes for my fish. I have also adopted some of the orphaned fish there during my subsequent visits. They also support local breeders and you can consistently find locally breed angel fish, guppies, swordtails, and even cardinals there. They also have wild caught cardinals if that is your preference. Pricing of fish better than most stores in the area. The fish are very healthy. Have not had icks, fin rot, dropsy so far. About little over half of the adopted orphaned fish survived but I don't hold this store responsible as was not their fish to start with. I noticed that the adopted ones that survived were ones with good appetite. Make sure you quarantine, especially the adopted ones. I know there are other good fish stores in Seattle and the Eastside such as Aquarium Co-op and Danny's Pet World. I know those stores will do well, especially Aquarium Co-op with its amazing You-tube presence. I hope you give this store a try and support another option in Seattle. I have enjoyed coming to this store. Here are coupe pics of my 55 gallon tank with fish from this store.

I received a 5 gallon fresh water tank gift recently. The Fish Store is my first fish hobby experience, because I needed to have fish, snails, plants and nutrients and advice. Not knowing anything about my new hobby, I found the person who greeted, listened to, and helped me to very pleasant and knowledgeable. The Fish Store made it easy to get started with everything I need for a 5 gallon tank for well under $100. Its so exciting to begin a new hobby, and I thank fish store for the great first experience.

Always knowledgeable and helpful staff here. Been around for at least a few decades, started visiting as a teenager. Pricing can be a bit all over the place, but for the most part it's in line with other aquarium and pet stores. Great variety of freshwater plants in addition to a well stocked fish selection.

Great personal service, actionable advice on all things fish, wonderful selection of plants, equipment, and fish both fresh and salt. If I got my way, I would have loaded this Fluval Flex 32.5 tank and stand purchased yesterday with all of them, but alas the kiddo got her castle for Fluff & Fluff Fluff; and the savannah cat got his heated fish viewing platform.

What a depressing experience. The floor was wet, and it was poorly lit and dirty. All the tanks are filthy and over crowded. One of the most valuable things a pet store can do is show owners the VERY BEST examples of how to take care of their live companions. For an tropical fish store, I wouldn’t buy anything there for fear of bringing home disease to my other fish. Bottom line: no live animal deserves to be kept in those kinds of conditions. If you can’t keep your tank water clean, free of brown algae, and glass not coated with muck, then the fish business is not the business you should be in.

These guys are chill and really helpful. Good suggestions and friendly to answer questions. Wide selection of tanks, filters, plants, food, and fish. Not to mention they are not overpriced for plants and fish as some of the more boutique aquascaping stores are.

I've been coming here for the past few months and have always had a great experience. The staff here are friendly, relaxed and super helpful. You'll find experts in fish keeping here, unlike many pet stores. I never feel pressured or rushed to buy something on the spot, which I feel like other stores tend to do. Their fish are always healthy, and plants are well kept. Also, they have a great selection and reasonable prices for the most part. Certain items feel a bit pricey compared to other stores, but they make up for it by sometimes having sales on specific fish or shrimp. The Fish Store is probably my favorite store in town.

Just had a great experience with this place. They are very accomodating, communicative, and seem to take good care of the creatures and plants in their care. They also were very knowledgeable. I was looking for an odd sized tank that I wasn't able to find in Bellingham. I called down to Seattle to this store. Initially Dan thought he could get the tank for me, but the distributor that was supposed to have it didn't and didn't know when they would get it back in. So I called around and found the tank at another store. After having done this, Dan called me back to let me know that he just found out from another of his distributors could get the tank for me. I called back to let him know that they'd be my back up. All of our interactions took place over several left messages on either side and Dan and the staff did a great job of communicating with me and each other. And when I did come down to Seattle get my refund from them, I got to look around at the store and could tell that they were taking good care of their fish and seemed to have solid knowledge on what they were doing. I got some plants and snails for the turtle I'm looking after. They're going to be great in her new tank!

I've only been in twice so far, but both visits have been great! The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. They were friendly and offered information without asking. I bought a couple of shrimp for the first time in my tank and we are enjoying them immensely. We also purchased some female bettas.

The Fish Store was foundational to my success when setting up my first saltwater aquarium. The level of expertise and general marine biology knowledge this store possess made me love the hobby even more. They were there to help problem solve every time. The Prices on coral are the best I’ve found, and very reasonably priced aquariums too. We are lucky to have a shop like this in Seattle

Great place, great atmosphere, great employees. Seemed very experienced and knowledgable. Great selection of everything aquaria. Salt, fresh, brackish, they have something for you. Definitely prefer to go here not only to support local business rather than a chain store but because they have competitive prices and more unique species than other places. Highly recommend.

Such kind and helpful staff, which is always important when you're in a store where you'll most likely be asking questions. If you want a reliable place to get healthy and happy fish, snails, eels, plants, or crustaceans, this is a good spot.

  • 5/5 Deja L. 2 years ago on Google
Staff is knowledgeable and happy to help diagnose fishtank troubles by testing water, looking at photos, etc. Stock is in good health and there is quite a variety of fresh and saltwater creatures to choose from. The only downside is that onsite parking is very limited.

I love this local fish store. The staff are very knowledgeable and they take very good care of the fish that they sell. I tend to always get my fish from them because they are healthy from the get-go. It is worth the extra cost to make sure that you get a healthy new Resident fish. My guy is named Poseidon by the way.

So help me; if you're getting into aquarium keeping, go here. All employees are exceptionally knowledgeable, the variety of fish is unmatched, the fish are healthy and well cared for, and if you're doing a price comparison to other local small businesses OR big box stores, the prices here are either on par with competitors (prices of neocaradinas, neon tetras, etc. are abt the same) but the majority of the time, the prices here are two or three times lower than competition. I currently have a set of 5, 10, and 20 gallon tanks, and over 20 fish between them and all of them came from this store. From where I live, it's over an hour drive to get here and there are a lot of other aquatics stores nearer to me, but I always make the effort to come here because it's worth it

The best fish shops are little hole-in-the-wall ones like this. Great selection and friendly staff. They can also order things for you that they might not have currently in stock.

Wide variety of fresh, saltwater, and brackish aquarium delights. The staff is open to browsers but also knowledgeable and helpful. Their saltwater aquariums are especially impressive.

Fish quality is not great, selection also wasn’t so hot. Store is a complete mess and tanks are too small for some fish to be displayed in. Really don’t get the other positive reviews.

Knowlegeable, nice staff. Have a good selection of freshwater and saltwater. Need to streetpark no parking lot readily available. A little more expensive but learn a lot. 15 day return policy

I love this place! The staff are super knowledgeable about fish and aquarium setups, as one would expect out of a long standing shop. They helped me choose fish that would do well together instead letting me flounder (see what I did there?) around until I figured it out by trial and error.I like that they're open until 9pm because I work later than usual these days, but if I need something for my tank, they're here for me. They helped me build a biodiverse tank with several plants and aquatic species. I'll definitely be back!

Nice people and good products, just don't trust them with axolotl care tips. When I was picking out slate, they said an aqua soil would be fine instead, but now my friend is in the emergency vet from impaction.

The gentleman who helped us first time customers was extremely helpful and listened to both of our questions and gave each of us respect. My wife felt he listened to her as well as me which is a nice change of pace from other fish stores. This is worth the gas to drive an hour from home to visit. The store had a variety of both fresh and salt water. I’m excited to enjoy the new blue trigger we took home. Thank you so much!!

Great local fish store. I have bought from here for about a decade and my mom did years ago when she was much younger too! I have bought both fresh and saltwater fish here, and their variety and selection of both (and brackish) is really pretty good.

Very nice store with a fantastic variety of fish. I purchased two wild German Blue Ram females and they are doing fantastic. Couldn't ask for more out of this store. I loved it.

Giving two stars due to good pricing and selection on fish. However I bought a bag of substrate that ended up being mud, brought photos in at their request, only to be told the only one who could do anything wouldn’t be back until another day. Lost points for not empowering employees to provide decent customer service.

Filthy, overstocked tanks; covered in brown algea. The fish I brought home had a parasite that I am currently treating. Tanks are over priced and the tank I bought I was given the wrong size lid for. I paid for several Pipettes and a pH test kit I never ended up receiving. Will not be returning

Decent for a limited selection of supplies, but this place has gone downhill the past few months. A majority of their already thin selection of plants look very sickly, and have created hair algae/hydra issues in two of my tanks. And don't plan on being greeted or asked if you need help. If you need something, you'll have to distract the staff away from their phones for long enough to begrudgingly help. Honestly, drive a little further to Aquarium Zen or Aquarium Co-op for a better experience and higher quality products.

My husband went in and purchased an air pump. He returned home and it was not strong enough for what he was using it for. The staff went out of their way to make sure we got a larger one and paid the difference. They were helpful and even did a test run to make sure it would give the amount of air that was needed. They have a huge variety of salt water fish, live corals and rocks. Customer service was outstanding and everyone that walks through the door is greeted. Way to go!!!
