This place is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! If you get a chance, go! Doesn't matter if you have kids or not. The art is wonderful and the kids had an absolute blast! So much to see and do. My kids and I spent 4 hours here and I feel like we barely scraped the surface. The cave system is awesome. And all the slides take it to the next level!

You have got to take your children here! I visited as the parent of adult children. I wish I had taken my kids here. This place is amazing. Be sure to give your kids a quiet break every once in a while because it’s really overwhelming for little ones. The employees are polite and thoughtful and knowledgeable. There’s something for everybody here to see or enjoy. The views from the rooftop are nice. The young man running the Ferris wheel day I visited was very entertaining and really seemed to enjoy his job. I wish someone would check on the antique cabinets because items are falling off the front of the shelves. I’m looking forward to returning

Super fun place to go with friends and family. It’s a giant maze! There is something for everyone. I highly recommend going down the 10 floor or 5 floor slide! The rooftop is amazing view of the city plus a small amusement park! The design of this place is incredible. It’s a must see for everyone.

This place is amazing! It's impossible to cover the entire thing in one day. There is so much to do and see and explore. Every hole or turn leads to secret rooms, tunnels, or slides. The kids had an absolute blast! I really enjoyed the rooftop and the outside area. It was so incredibly hot inside due to the age of the building and the sheer volume of body heat. But there are cool spots to be found. All the slides were amazing. If you can fit, adults can crawl and run through everything too. You know it's good when the kids are so exhausted they ask to leave when there's still more to be seen. We'll be back for sure - but I think we'll plan for two days and come back in the Spring or Fall. Summer is just too hot!

A wonderful place. My son loved it here. He’s talked about this place for years. We spent hours climbing around the ceilings, walls, tunnels, through the darkness. You can walk along the outside structures (crawling is also necessary if you want to see everything), explore the planes, or slide down the slides - and some span multiple floors! So many amazing sculptures and artwork. When I was there they were painting and building in order to add another floor of adventure. The lowest level is the enchanted cave with some amazing sculptures for everyone to climb on. It’s one gigantic museum for playing and exploring. Not disappointed that my son and I drove six hours to see this place. A work of art.

The City Museum is unique in the way that it feels like intentional chaos. It’s almost like an interactive art museum. The playgrounds/ climbing/sliding structures are very unique. Most of them go from one floor to another (I think there were a few that went between three floors). The day that we went the museum was packed and with the play structures being so big and behind walls and going floor to floor, it was extremely stressful trying to keep up with the children with our group. If you are expecting an organized, learning environment for kids, this is not it. This isn’t the kind of museum that has different learning stations, everything just randomly turns into something else. You go from a winding metal structure for kids to climb on to a wall of antiques with no explanation. The one real station I saw amidst the chaos was a toddler area where some big kids had taken over and there were no workers to be seen. We were there for several hours and I only ever saw one worker. There’s no one there to help parents FIND their kids when their kids go down a slide when the sign says it ends on one floor but actually ends on another. There were also several things that stood out as red flags to us as being safety concerns/ not up to code. Maybe it’s not always as busy as it was the day that we went but it was stressful as the parents trying to keep up with kids that go up a set of stairs that go behind a wall and it takes you 5 minutes to find where it comes out. I will say that the food from the restaurant we ate at was good. (Alcohol available- and after spending time in that museum- I can see why.) 😅 The gift shop souvenirs were about as random as the museum which was kind of funny. My aunt and I joked that the t-shirts in the gift shop should say “I survived the City Museum with all my kids.”

City Museum is nationally recognized for its unique approach to art and fun. If you have littles, you’d be better off to go to the 3rd floor. There you will find more open space and even an area for 6 years and under. First timers often get overwhelmed with the nooks and crannies that are great for older children to explore. >>>>. The weddings there are fantastic and fun, too!<<<<

THE coolest place I have ever been to in my long life, hands down. We kept this place as a surprise to our kids until we drove up. They saw all the cool stuff coming out of the building and they freaked out. I researched this place people to coming and had high expectations and it was even better than I imagined. The entire place is an art showcase where kids and adults can interact with the art. There are some extremely creative people that think of the stuff they do here. Outside and inside the building there are these metal climbing structures with old airplanes and school busses and stuff. Inside there are these super tall slides where a pipe organ blasts music. It feels like you're inside of a Tim Burton movie.

City Museum is one of the hardest places on earth to describe. It’s fun for kids and adults alike to explore this massive building with all sorts of oddities, places to crawl and explore, and climb. You might be crawling through narrow spaces on your hands and knees or suddenly exploring caves. They have an outdoor area with massive metal structures to climb as well as a unique rooftop area (open seasonally during the warm months) with things that you must see to believe. I highly recommend getting knee pads for just about anyone who is going to explore anything here. You have to explore and play at your own risk and be cautious. If you do have kids with you, it will be easy to lose them as some slides go between floors and it may not be quick or easy to catch up. The space is well maintained and the staff is generally very friendly and helpful when needed. There are snacks available on the second floor and there’s a bar on the third floor. They have lockers available to rent and it’s worth it to have a place to stash items since you will work up a sweat and it may be easy to lose valuables. This is one of the most unique places I’ve ever been to and something that I’d consider a must visit attraction for anyone coming to Saint Louis for the first time. Don’t skip this and take your time exploring since there’s a lot to see.

I struggled with this review as my 5-year old granddaughter loved the many exhibits and play areas. But my decision to not return drove me to a two star review for the reasons listed (minor to serious) below: 1. The museum complex is huge. I felt that it could not be adequately cleaned. Surfaces were "municipal clean" but often gritty or greasy to the touch. 2. The satellite food area on the roof ran out of food by noon. While still open, there was nothing to offer patrons and, little attempt was made to restock the facility. 3. Many play areas had narrow tunnels and corridors that were poorly lit. Great to enhance their spooky nature but not very safe 4. Several of the tunnel play areas had restricted views so that adults could not see their little ones. The tunnels appeared to have only one way in/out, which seems dangerous if an emergency evacuation is required.

This is the most amazing museum we've seen. It is a total immersive experience that bring you from one world to another completely different world. It has an aquarium, and many indoor and outdoor playground, plus an open rooftop. It is literally a playground for both kids and adults. What are you like to climb and crawl, or just walk without any strenuous moves, there is always a path to explore all the hidden gems in this museum in ways that you are comfortable. And it has so many spaces and so many ways to see things that you can spend days getting lost in these world. And even if you come back again and again, the experience can still be completely different. We highly recommend this as a must visit if you ever come to St. Louis.

What is this new devilry? Bring knee pads, a hard hat with a head lamp, and the heart of a child. I guess you could bring your kids too. Just a mad man's giant torture chamber. Plan 3 hours or so. Buy online and then use the poorly labeled left lane when inside to bypass. Maps below (a lot of good it will do you...). Don't say I didn't warn you!

I truly love this place. If you go to St. LOUIS, the City Museum is a must-see/do! Since college, I've enjoyed exploring this multi-story playground filled with amazing works of art and pieces of St. Louis. I had the privilege of bringing my kids for the first time and they had a blast.

A veritable wonderland, but you know that. What you don't know, is that it is just as amazing for adults as it is for children. We went as a group of five adults, had a blast, and also were blown away by the substantial architectural remnants collection, which rivaled some of the greatest museums we've visited. Mason and Ali were an absolute delight in Beatnik Bob's, the upstairs restaurant and bar and had great info on the history of the building, as well as recommendations for climbing and sliding activities. We absolutely can't wait to return. Our only request is that we wish they had told us they were about to close the five-story and 10-story slides before we made the climb!

Everything is awesome. My review is tips to make it easier -wear sneakers -bring a flash light or a head lamp. These are also available for purchase in the gift shop as you enter. There are dark tunnels to climb through. -parents, consider knee pads. These are also available for sale in the gift shop as you enter -bring the bare minimum if you expect to climb around with your child. Purses, slings, and backpacks get in the way. They have lockers. -there's places to buy water ($3.50 a bottle) if you don't want to carry around your bottle -wear sports clothes. It gets hot. There's no a/c but they have fans to help move the air. -pinball isn't worth the $6. There's about 10 machines and 8 old-school arcade games -figure out the times of the circus if it's something you want to do.

Super fun experience for my kids. There were tunnels and caves that go between all the floors. I've never seen anything like it! It was incredible. My son said "better than Disney." LOL. I have a 14, 12, and 9 year old and we stayed busy for almost 7 hours. Dad and I even got in the action, climbing through tunnels and sliding down slides. I would definitely go back and recommend it to anyone looking for something different. The admission is fair and rather cheap compared to things we do in Chicago. Overall it was worth the drive and traffic from Chicago.

Amazing! I love climbing things so this place brought out my inner child! Make sure you take knee pads cuz there's lots of crawling! I took pants and I was fine. Lots to do and lots to see. Family friendly place for everyone to enjoy. The slides were a bummer cuz they're not so slippery. Other than that, you'll have a great time.

Amazing place for everyone. Toddlers to bigger kids to teenagers and adults. You could spend hours here and keep finding amazing things. The food isn't crazy experience either so you can spend the day here. They were super great with our large group over the weekend. We had about 90 people in our group and they were super accommodating and there were no issues.

If Mad Max had a Kids Palace this would be the destination!! What an adventure. So much climbing and birth canals secret tunnels!! make me wish I had knee pads and a headlamp. There is so much to climb!! Then Slide! It’s one big cavernous Jungle gym! Your inner child will be revealed and there is even an old school pinball section. We didn’t get a chance to see all the outdoor activities like the Ferris wheel school bus etc… because it was winter;(

Have been many times over the years with my kids and haven't been during Corona. Well they charge full price still and about 90% of the the tunnels/activities to do are closed. They should give you some kind of warning that there is nothing to even do there. Paid $40 for 2 tickets/$10 parking and $8 for a locker. Stayed for an hour and left. It's a joke and I advise anyone to go and spend that kind of money. Total rip off and was highly disappointed as were my kids.

Not enough transparency on website. Almost everything was shut down. I understand COVID restrictions. But website showed only rooftop closed. Only thing my 8 year old could do was the slide and a skatepark room where they slid down the ramps. Waste of 50 plus dollars. Ended up at the zoo to save the day.

To say I loved City Museum is an understatement!! There was SO much to do!! I couldn't get over the creativity. There were slides to go down, tunnels to crawl through. Games to play. You can walk on the wings of a plane, go through castle turrets. It's an amazing collection of random things, but truly a gem! I could have spent all day here. I would recommend this place for anyone. There is something for everyone! Advise: Wear comfortable clothes, as you will be climbing in and out, up and down. Of you have some, bring kneepads. Leave as much as you can in your car, if you don't want to rent a locker. (Locker rental was $8 as of October 2021) You can buy tickets online, and they're general admission, good for any day. I would recommend purchasing prior. There was no line for online purchases, but there was a line to purchase on-site.

Impossible to describe but every family should visit. Kids will have a blast climbing through the walls and exploring the hamster tunnels flying out over the parking lot. Helicopter parents will experience unparalleled anxiety, but everyone is better off having visited this place.

The City Museum is a very interesting place, but it would have been more enjoyable if they gave maps so you know where and how to explore. You go aimlessly throughout which is probably the point, but a little knowledge of what there is to see would have been nice. The slides are cool, and the interactive nature is great for kids. If your tall or a bit bigger, it’s not as smooth going in every exhibit. I also saw little do do for handicapped individuals which would be nice if they could have access to as much as possible as well. Recommend for kids, but as an adult it got a bit old a bit quick.

Took a 3yo and a 14yo, we ended up spending about 3hours here. We had so much fun exploring, around literally every turn, corner, nook, and cranny. Definitely want to return when my toddler is a little older, as I didn't feel safe letting them explore some of the smaller and darker areas. Some sections seemed a little less tended to than others, but overall things were neat and appeared clean.

Great place to take adventurous kids who like to explore. So many tunnels and hidden places. Lots of crawling, small places with limited light. They sell little headlamps in the gift store or bring your own. There is also a 10 story slide that has an age limit, but I didn't go on it. Easy place for kids to explore ALL DAY LONG. Lots of places for parents to sit and watch/wait and several places big enough for the big kid type of parents to join in the fun.

Great space for exploration children and adult experience. Lots of interaction with artwork/structural design indoor and outdor. The 50ft slide is fun! There is food and drink. Reasonably priced. A party can easily spend 2hr or more there. I think they should have more staff for areas especially areas wherein children easily climb through tunnels.

We went to the City Museum based on positive reviews from multiple friends. Unfortunately we did not have the same experience. As soon as we entered the building it was unbelievably noisy. The type of noise that one could barely hear what the person nearby was saying unless you moved in extremely close and asked that person to repeat what he/she said. It was so loud it was hurting our heads, and we couldn't think straight. Also, we had no idea it would be a playground because we were under the impression it would be a "museum" of some sort. The only thing we enjoyed was the rooftop. It was quieter, and a fair amount of activities my son could participate in. The views of St. Louis were amazing.

Whoever said this place isn't for adults must be old or boring!! 2 adults in their 30s had a wildly fun time for nearly 5hours! The roof is underwhelming, you don't need to pay more for it. But the inside (and outside) are a blast. Be sure to find the 10story slide (it's kinda hidden in what feels like a boiler room). The circus was cute, and the aquarium had some interesting fish. My only comment is that the seahorse has a sign about how they mate for life and dance with their partner twice a day... but there's only 1 seahorse! I really wish they would adopt another one because that's heart breaking. Oh and your knees will be sore after climbing all of the steel tubes!

Absolutely perfect. I loved every bit (except the architecture and bug rooms). One of the first things we did was go to the circus harmony show. The cast did a amazing job. My favorite part was the aquarium. Didn't order food but the restaurants smelt awesome. The tunnels around the building have quite a few tight squeezes. Perfect place for children with tons of playspace.

We were told this place was great for adults too. Now..For a kid this place is probably a 5/5 but for average adults we couldn’t do much. We’re average build but the spaces were too tight of squeezes. The roof was closed. The Guinness exhibit was tailored for kids. The pizza in the lizard lounge was cardboard. The chicken wrap wasn’t great. We should have eaten elsewhere. Final thoughts: If I had kids, I’d go. If not, probably skip it.

The City Museum is such a unique experience. I love the rooftop displays, particularly the long slide (although the end is a bit rough). The displays are so neat and there really is no museum like this. If you are in St. Louis, I definitely recommend you check this museum out.

This is an unusual hodgepodge of a museum. It is located in what was a warehouse at one time so the location is huge and a good part of the space is still under development. That being said, this museum is like a labyrinth and has more variety than is seen in a typical museum and is loads of fun. They boast multiple slides including a 5 and 10 story slide. There are caves to explore and crawl through, aquarium spaces, circus acts, a kiddie train, a kids art room, old arcade games, a very cool insect collection, many bits of architecture, and really just too many things to mention. We visited in January so weren't able to explore the outdoor/roof space but would love to go back for that. There are food and drink options, bars and a parking lot across the street that charges $10. Tickets are $16 for ages 3 and over, $22 with rooftop access. Highly recommend.

One of the coolest museums I've ever been in. More than a museum, it's more like an interactive work of art, combined with the world's coolest playground. A must see! I had 2 teenagers with me and they loved it. Little kids would love it even more.

Tons of fun for adults and kids. Everywhere you go you feel like you've found a special, secret spot just for you! From the castle and the airplane, to the enormous slide and the caves, to the shoelace machine and the art hangout -and don't forget smoothies, pizza and adult drinks- the city museum has everything you need for a full day of fun with family and friends. I know we enjoyed it when my daughter was little, now that she's in middle school we enjoyed discovering new things and revisiting favorites.

Great place for all ages. Upon arrival not sure what to expect but the kids in us came out and we went all around. The slides are amazing. The 10 story is a must do (don't be scared nothing goes super fast). Fun for all ages young and old. There are areas that are small, confined, and scare those with fear of clasterphobic and heights. But there are wider open areas to walk around too. Would highly recommend

This was one of the coolest places I’ve ever visited! 7 and 3 (and myself!) had a blast exploring all the nooks and crannies inside and climbing through everything outside. The staff was friendly and helpful. Nice to enjoy an adult frosty beverage and play some old school arcade/pinball during a much needed break! We only had time for one day but I look forward to going back and spending several days next time!

Was a amazing place for kids and family. Very unique with the way they preserve old items from buildings. Would recommend bringing knee pads and flashlights for the dark tunnels that run through the building. The only negative thing about it is it hard to keep track of your kids if you're not careful they will end up in a different location than you

I can say that I honestly believe this is my most favorite place in St. Louis. There are few places where adults and kids can play and everyone has as much fun as the other. I particularly like crawling through the myriad of tunnels they have. It makes you feel like an explorer. There is no place quite like this. Now that we no longer live in St. Louis we have been unable to find anything quite like City Museum.

Such a cool place and nothing like we expected! On one hand, it's a museum about cities, with lots of cool recovered architectural details from city buildings. But mostly it's a huge, weird and wild playground for kids (and their adventurous adults). Reminds me a lot of House on the Rock in Wisconsin, but with more places to climb... Definitely worth it to get the rooftop pass (costs a little extra) because the main floors do not have air conditioning and get really muggy. The rooftop had really nice breezes (and fun stuff for the kids to do).when we were there, probably our favorite part of the museum. We paid for the pinball but I would recommend it...

This place is very interesting to say the least. There are so many cool things to see, explore, play on. The parking lot is a bit tight, but I was thankful that they had ample parking. I was disappointed with the staff though. Everyone seemed like they literally didn't care or they were too high to function. It was strange for sure. Also, it was unbelievably hot inside the building. Immediately started sweating while waiting in line for tickets. We asked a few different staff members about why it was so hot and if the air was on or not. Each one of them responded with "the owners are cheap and don't want to turn on the air". So many people looked overheated and miserable inside the museum. They also don't have enough water stations or bathrooms for a building this size. Adults 21+, definitely get the wine slushies! They'll make your experience better.

City Museum is a must see if vacationing in St. Louis. This building has an adventure waiting around every corner for all ages. The creative minds that built this place back in 1993 were absolutely amazing. They turned an old 10 story downtown factory into an endless amusement attraction that appeals to ages from 6 on up. There are caves, slides, fish in ponds, a school bus hanging off of the roof, a ferris wheel, airplanes, mazes, and much, much more. We visited on a Sunday afternoon and spent 3 hours there. My 5 year old grandson was in awe of everything just to look at. He was a little scared of the caves... as was I. They get pretty tight on some of the areas. I would suggest wearing knee pads elbow pads and headlamps. They will save you because of all the crawling you do during your visit. Leather gloves might not be a bad idea either. If you lived in the area a season pass would be a good investment. They have a couple of areas to purchase food at as well as adult drinks. The next trip to St. Louis we are planning on spending the entire day there to see more. Highly recommended family vacation.

We have traveled to St. Louis with our kids for nearly a decade, just to visit City Museum! We have explored much of the U.S. and hands down, agree this place should be at the top of the list for families to visit. It appeals to families of kids young and older, as well as families with kids multiple ages. It can be an easy place to get lost and can be very crowded. I think City Museum does a great job acknowledging that & has a plan in place for kids to seek out an employee in an orange shirt to call the numer on your wristband. We witnessed a little girl get separated from her family & went right to someone in an orange shirt, who called her parent. It is definitely worth the cost of admission. And tip... As much as I don't want to share the secret, it saddens me to see all the parking lots (that can have you walking several blocks) charging so much claiming they're City Museum parking for double the cost. Pull in the actual City Museum lot and parking it is 1/2 the cost and the actual parking lot.

This place defies definition. If you're an active person, put on some yoga pants and knee pads and go to City Museum! Bring the kids. Be prepared to crawl, climb, slide, sweat, get thirsty/hungry, and have an experience you won't soon forget. Our family visited seven years ago and always said if we were ever in St. Louis again that we would return. And we did!!!

This place will wear you out! Make sure you wear your running/climbing shoes! I even seen a few seasoned professionals with knee pads and head lamps! You are guaranteed to break a sweat and loose track of what floor you’re on! Keep your eyes open for the treats for the parents as they do offer beverages. On one of the upper floors we found a “hole in the wall” bar type food place that had good nachos and board games to play while we got some much needed rest.

City Museum is a large playground that is also fun for adults. If you are adventurous and willing to crawl into small spaces (like a kid) you will love it. There are also other fun things to do like watch a clown performance, sit in a spinning top chair, ride slides, and much more. The air conditioner didn’t seem to be working, which made the outdoor section more refreshing. All in all, expect to spend around 4 hours.

What an absolutely awesome experience for kids and adults! You have to be fairly nimble but there's fun to be had from all. Even just walking through and checking things out is pretty neat. One of our favorite Parts was the seven story slide, it was really fast and an absolute blast! Parking was easy and a good time was had by all. The only negative that I can really think of is St Louis is not nearly as nice overall as many big cities I've been to but, of course, this has nothing to do with the quality of the museum.

There was a lot to do there! I only wish I visited when I was younger so I could've crawled around more with my kids. It'll be neat to see the displays that weren't done yet, they looked like they will be enjoyable as well. I'd love to come back!

So much fun. And so big. You can explore for 8 hours straight and not see it all. There's so many little surprises and nooks and crannies. A great place for kids to go and get some of their energy out. The halloween decorations are a nice touch and makes for a spooky good time.

First off this place is extraordinary, it is fun even for a 16 to 30-year-old, I wasn't expecting to see a grown adult have fun inside the caves and all the places you can crawl. It's a place where you can learn and have fun at the same time. I would recommend it for any age. The only thing I recommend for families with kids is that SUPERVISE YOUR KIDS, and know where they are at all times, YOUR KIDS CAN GET LOST IN THERE.

This has got to be one of the most unique places I have ever been. Literally everywhere you look is a place to climb or slide. A lot of this place is mosaic tile that is absolutely beautiful. We spent around 3 hours here and didn't get to see the whole thing because of how massive this place is. We have a 3 year old that would not sit still, he had to see and explore everything. There are endless thing for kids to do here. Unfortunately we were not able to get on the roof because of weather, but we still had an amazing time. Id recommend this place if you have kids and want to see something like you've never seen before. I cannot say enough about this place and how much fun we had, we will definitely be back!

One of my favorite art spaces on earth 💞 I used to live in St. Louis, and The City Museum is literally the only place in town I recommend as a must-see! I make sure to see it everytime I come through stl.

This is one of the craziest places I’ve ever been. It’s like a giant junkyard, but a playground. And it’s for all ages - a play at your own risk kind of thing. It was completely delightful. We went there on a summer Sunday, so it was packed - definitely want to try one of the adults only times. Wear comfortable shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty!

This place has tons to offer. We spent about 4 hours here and probably could have stayed longer if we didn't have other plans. My kids enjoyed the experience. So many floors with different activities. If you have younger children and want to get out all their energy for the day, this is the place. Kids can literally get lost in the maze of things for them to climb. The City Museum will keep them entertained and they will leave wanting more. Even though they were operating on a lower capacity due to Covid-19, it made for a better experience because it was not packed with people and you could move around and enjoy everything they had to offer. This will be on my list to revisit the next time I come to St. Louis.

Incredible place for all ages. I had forgotten how much fun a pinball machine could be. Truly a must see/visit if you are in the area. Be prepared for everyone to turn in early because this place has so much to see and do it will wear you out.

I'm from Chicago and I've been to the museum there plenty of times because I enjoy history. I came with my friend here for his birthday because he wanted me to go with, and I have to say this place blew my mind. It's so different in a good way. It's almost like a children's museum in the sense that it's a little like a playground. The atmosphere is very nice, it's an appealing place to be in. Not a lot of stuff to actually read or to learn, but I had a lot of fun nonetheless. They have a freaking 10 story slide which is interesting to put in a museum, but it was cool. The roof is another beast, with an insanely beautiful view, and spots to take gorgeous pictures. Definitely a great place to take tons and I mean tons of pictures. A museum that definitely has it all. I'm glad to have visited and will definitely visit again to show my Chicago friends.

It's a lot of fun, it would take a whole day and you'd still not see everything they have to offer. They have great play areas to wear out the kids and also educate and inspire them. Great food, layed back adventures. Great price And an awesome staff. Wear your masks and have fun.

We had all the fun! I thought Meow Wolf was the best possible museum but City Museum def gave it a run for its money. It was really nice to run around and climb after months of being cooped up isolating from COVID. Such a great variety of stuff and full of surprises. Def recommend even tho some stuff is reasonably closed bc of Corona. I'm glad they're concerned about our safety.

Me and my husband took my 13-year-old to the city museum she was just dying to go for about a couple of months now we finally got there and realized that it is not for a 13-year-old it's for anybody that's five or younger and it has nothing to offer a big child so I think that's where our downfall was at a lot of things was closed off but even though it's not for a 13-year-old I think the price was still too much for them not to be advertising as much if they should have so I think they need to go down on the price a bit

Everyone should visit the City Museum in St Louis. School buss on the top of the building along with Ferris wheel. Out door crawling and indoor caves with several story slides. Amazing place!

Slides are good for kids, 10 story slide is worth the workout but just remember there is minimal height requirement if going with kids. outdoor walk and steps are worthy weather permitting.

Traveling through the area from Tennessee! Stopped here on our way back from the Grand Canyon, and LOVED it!! Mid COVID restrictions and this place was still so awesome and worth it! We will come back when everything is back open. It took us around 4 hours to see everything, play around, take pictures, and enjoy our adult slushies😋 beautiful, incredible "museum." Kid and adult friendly! The staff were super helpful and friendly!

This is a great place for the whole family, a good date, or just a fun day out. It can get a little crowded during the summer (pre-COVID), but if you go at random times it's a little more open. They've taken a ton of measures to promote good distancing and proper mask wearing. Strongly recommend!

What kind of "museum" is this? I don't get the history behind every room... is super dark and dangerous for the kids to play around. We were tourists, and we thought it was going to be a museum of learning. It was very disappointing.

Recommended by one of my close friends. Totally worth the cost which was around $80. Me, my husband and our kids [3 & 4] were here for nearly 4 hours. My only complaint was that some of the items that were displayed had no context as to what they exactly were. My children loved playing and exploring the City Museum.

Super fun and playful. I’ll come to St. Louis again just for the City Museum. If you like adventures and exploring without a map and never knowing where you’re going, this would be the perfect place for you. Some of the tunnels to go through are more narrow and would only fit petite people or kids, which would be a down side for this museum. You might also need some knee pads cause there will be a lot of climbing. Knee pads can be purchased in the gift shop. I love the outdoor ones the most. Would definitely visit again!

  • 2/5 Ember S. 2 years ago on Google
It was overrated. Many people recommend it, but as a plus size adult, i dont like the claustrophobic nature or crawling up 6 floors to get on a slide. I mean, in my home country Changi airport we also have a 12m slide, and it's accessible. There are a lot of kids here, so if gets noisy. Don't come if you're not a fan of slides, climbing, or kids.

  • 5/5 Kiet T. 2 years ago on Google
Very fun playing and crawling through the tunnels in City Museum. Unfortunately the rooftop was closed on my visit, so we didn’t go to the rooftop. I suggest you go on the outside part of City Museum because the inside part could have some germs. I also suggest you wear knee pads on your visit (unfortunately I did not wear knee pads). Your kneecaps will hurt after crawling through the tunnels. One fun thing to do inside is go on the 6 or 7 story slide inside the caves part of the building. You should also keep an eye out for your kids.

The most redeeming quality of this place is all of the stuff that has been kept out of a landfill. Props to the artists who’ve created a fun place to explore. My 80s kid at heart did appreciate that there was a lot of space for free play, climbing, exploring. But… There were WAY too many people in the facility. My husband commented that this may have been where Covid originated. I understand that they are making $20-30 per person, so packing them in makes more money. But limiting the number of people would increase the quality of the experience so much more. Gift shop idea- sell headphones or ear plugs!!! It felt like half of the facility was food places, gift shops, and kiosks where you can spend more money. There appears to be plenty of space in the building that isn’t being used. I’d consider visiting again if they open up new spaces to explore. Otherwise, I most likely won’t return.

City Museum is awesome! I have been visiting it since 2005. It is still as fun as I have gotten older although a little rougher on the knees. The kids always have a wonderful time. You can spend a few hours or an entire day. The rotating exhibits keep things new and interesting. I highly recommend a visit if you are in St. Louis.

  • 5/5 Abhishek S. 9 months ago on Google
Nice place for every age group. It also has caves, aquarium and some art inside. Can easily spend 3 hrs and couple of more with kids. Most tunnels are designed for kids. Tkts $20, extra $6 for rooftop do not quantify. May be $12/14 for kids. Parking $15

This place is so special! It's unlike any other attraction you've ever been to. There is just so much to see and explore, I feel like you can keep going again and again and you'll find something new every time. it's great for all ages - we were a huge group from ages 2-13 plus adults and everyone had the best time. The ONLY thing I will tell you is all the nooks and crannies make it super easy to get lost so you do have to keep a very careful eye on your kids, including knowing where they are going to end up when they go down a slide. But it is absolutely worth the extra effort. We love this weird wacky wonderful museum!

  • 5/5 Cody S. 9 months ago on Google
What an absolutely fantastic interactive museum. Our whole family had fun exploring all there is to do here. We could have easily spent the entire day here and I don't hink we got to do everything there is to do. Will for sure be back next time we are in town.

Spend as much time as you can here. Bring a water bottle. You can refill it at the water fountains. Wear very comfortable clothes you dont mind sweating And getting dirty. Food is fairly priced. Gift shop is fairly priced. I took my two 13 year olds And a 4 year old And they had a blast. We were there for 6 hours And decided we could have used another 2 hours. Highly recommend 10/10

  • 5/5 Patrick D. 9 months ago on Google
This is a required stop for anyone with kids or younge at heart. Most places say do-nothing touch or climb here literally everything is meant to be touched and climbed on. It is a children's dream come true. Adults, be sure to bring knee pads and a bottle of water! Expect to spend anywhere from 2 to 4 hours exploring, if not longer.

  • 5/5 Andrea L. 9 months ago on Google
Creative playground for all ages for exploration and play! My three teenagers and I all enjoyed it, though I could see how it might be challenging if you had a fast little kid that wouldn't wait for you or if you had mobility issues. This was one of the best places we went on our trip across the country. We took about four hours and saw a lot of the place; we were pretty tired after that. We didn't get the rooftop pass; I hear it's cool up there but for a first visit there's plenty of other things to see. We did a lot of crawling without knee pads, but they would have been helpful. We didn't have a head lamp/flashlight but if you have one, bring it for the dark cave areas! There are a lot of tight spaces that our group loved but if you aren't able to fit through them there's usually another way to go that's bigger. The 6-7 story slides had a line but it didn't take too long. We probably would have slid better if we wore athletic material (like exercise leggings). No loose items are allowed on the slides, so a secure pocket for phone/etc is very helpful! They sell food - I noticed hot dogs were $8 - but I think you can bring your own food. I saw signs for free lockers if you want to put stuff away while you explore. There's water fountains, so make sure you stay hydrated! Parking was $15 on a Saturday. Even though it was crowded, we didn't have to wait long for anything. Make sure you explore the outdoor area with the planes and towers! That might have been my favorite.

I took my brother here when he frame to visit. And we had a great time. It was a little hot I didn't realize the inside wasn't air conditioned so I would definitely go back when it's a little cooler outside. I also think it's good to note that some spaces are for small children. My brother and I had to firgure that out the hard way! But it was a good time can't wait to go back.

This place is insane. Kids will go crazy in this place. Parents will go crazy trying to keep track of their kids. It's a super fun place to explore and discover. The outdoor park has a great view of the city and only gets better when you venture to the roof. If you're considering a caricature, do it!

So fun, great place for all ages. Went with friends (mid twenties to thirties) we crawled through all the little tunnels and secret passages, up walls and all sorts of terrain. We were all sore the next day, muscles we don’t normally use as well. If you’re looking to get some unconventional movement in and work on your mobility while exploring this place is perfect.

  • 4/5 Sara S. 7 months ago on Google
Such a cool concept. A beautiful and strange interactive experience that was just as much fun for me as it was for the kids. Only thing that prevented this from being five stars was the rooftop closed during our visit, after we had bought tickets for it, due to heat/lack of staffing before we got up there and they do not offer refunds, only rain checks. Since we aren't from the area (and I'm sure a large number of other visitors are not local) there's no way we'd have been able to come back.

  • 5/5 Emily K. 7 months ago on Google
Had a blast here! Highly recommend for all ages. Here are our takeaways. Come early. It's mostly iron or steel. So it gets hot. Wear older clothes. You will get dirty. Start at the top. We paid for a rooftop experience, and it closed early without warning. We didn't get to go up there at all. Bring water bottles. Refill often and stay hydrated! Food options on 1st or 4th floor. Gluten-free pizza can be purchased. Let them know if you have an allergy. They are friendly. We also brought gluten-free bread with us. So go club sandwich with no bread and used our own! Leave strollers on the 1st floor. Or use elevators to go 3rd floor toddler area! If first time, I recommend not adding pinball room. Most machines were out of order. Lastly, be a kid with your kids! Slide on every slide. Squeeze into the tunnels. And laugh :) If this review helps you, give us a thumbs up! #crazykleinadventure

I wasn't sure what to expect, but this place exceeded any expectations. It was so much fun. They have slides that range from regular length to 5 stories to 10 stories. Most of them were closed, though, when we got there late on a Sunday. They have obstacle courses for all ages, aquariums with turtles, lizards, and fish. Everyone can go and find something that will interest them. They have "caves" that have amazing sculptures and mazes. (We actually got lost in the caves, had a staff person come get us). Great experience. Although it was really hot outside which made it really hot inside. Needless to say, we did not do the outside courses.

My son had a good time. He is 10. He definitely saw it is a cool adventure. If there was a way to ensure he couldn't be taken or hurt without my knowledge, I could have let him run free a little more but I felt like I'd lose him if he got out of my sight because this place goes on and on! Lol. So I was overprotective and followed him around. Every thing was really cool. Unfortunately after walking thousands of steps to reach the top they said you can't slide with a small bag. I had to bring my bag to be able to pay for our way in, etc. So that was unfortunate after walking so many stair cases. Maybe a sign at the bottom saying no bags allowed? 🤔 it was hot, but overall the place is very cool and very fun for a kid to explore. We may come back some day and try again when he's older.

This was our first time to St. Louis and to City museum. City Museum was AMAZING. There are so many cool little passage ways to crawl through that take you to new/different places. The adults had just as much fun as the kids. Definitely recommend some knee pads for the adults.

  • 5/5 Jeff C. 5 months ago on Google
Great experience at the city museum. Incredibly for kids but great for anyone that can let their inner kid out to play a bit. Hard to classify this place but exploration zone, grown up children's museum, and work of art come to mind. Basically it's a lot of fun. Seriously though, one pads and a headlamp (honestly) will engage your experience. Be fearless, have fun!

  • 5/5 William B. 5 months ago on Google
Not what I had in mind when I think of 'museum' but it's definitely partly that. It feels more like a playground they allow adults on. Considering they have a spiral slide of 10 stories tall and one for 5, and then there's the outdoor monstrosity I believe they call it where you can walk, crawl, climb around and through. There's also some of this on the rooftop(which I believe you have to pay extra for). Plus the rooftop has a small ferris wheel and of course decent views of the city. It's definitely a place you can spend a full day or a good part of the day. I can see it being especially entertaining for the kids if nothing else keeping them busy all day!

  • 5/5 Adam K. 4 months ago on Google
Love this place! The most extreme climb is definitely on the rooftop. If you’re coming for a single day then just get the roof pass and do it. Such a fun place to spend hours, always something new, food, everything to stay entertained.

One of the most beautiful attractive site of the Midwest city of St. Louis - Missouri. The way it was designed and built is just amazingly perfect. It has almost every mysterious design that a child or toddler or an adult can think of to spend some good time playing. Words aren’t even enough to describe this place. You have to see it for yourself to believe it. It is an absolutely a must visit if you are visiting St. Louis.
