Feb and March is considered the best season to spot more than 20 species of birds. Take the special boat costing 1500 rs. The guide will row towards the edge of the island. Ample photo opportunities. 500 rs extra if you are carrying telephoto Lenses. Evening 3.30 to 5.30 is ideal according to me. Go on weekdays

So many varieties of birds are there with good natural ecosystem. Most of the national park and bird sanctuaries are man made kind of type were the built the man made eco system and the the birds will come to that while these island in Ranganthittu is not a man made type its a nature response to the human intervention. These habitats gives a well protected eco systems to the Pelicans and also for all the birds for example the crocodiles in the river does not allow any bodies to enter to the Island. Thats why this is a unique type of natural kind of Island with a good ecosystem🍃.

It's a good place but before going there you should know which is the best time for visiting that place if it's too rainy boating will be cancelled if they are not providing boating don't go there because you can't see birds properly and one more thing only a particular session we can see max birds so try to come at that time sorry don't know exact sessions. Overall it's good don't expect too much lots of improvement are needed.

Its one of the largest bird sanctuary in India. This area comprises of inlets of Kaveri river. The area was converted into a bird sanctuary by the insistence of Salim Ali, a well known ornithologist to the then king of Mysore. Its near to Mysore and we came here to visit in a bike. Boating is available and visitors can enjoy the ride. There are some scary stories involving the crocodiles but i cant seem to verify its authenticity. There are certain seasons in which there is a large nesting of birds. The water has crocodiles which one can see during the boat rides. There is limited sites to stay nearby and its always advisable to come from Mysore. There is a pelican island in which there are around 50. These stay here permanently. Overall this is a great place to visit for nature lovers. The islands have faced destruction during monsoons when the KRS dam is opened.

Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary (also known as Pakshi Kashi of Karnataka),[1] is a bird sanctuary in the Mandya District of the state of Karnataka in India. It is the largest bird sanctuary in the state,[2] 40 acres (16 ha) in area,[3] and comprises six islets on the banks of the Kaveri river

Different species of birds arive in different seasons. If you are expecting all birds at one place and season you will be dissappointed. Do some research before your visit.

The sanctuary is well maintained by the Forest Department of Karnataka and efforts are ongoing to improve the sanctuary ,The entrance fee to the Sanctuary is steep at Rs 75 per person, I would say the money is being spent wisely. The glass bridge, hanging bridge and the well manicured lawns are a treat to watch. Though you may come across more "human" couples than birds, occupying the benches inside the sanctuary, you will not be surprised to come across many bird species especially during winter. I was very impressed by the clean toilets though I am very apprehensive of using public toilets in India.
