I'm giving less stars due to the fact that the site is neglected, not maintained and most of all there is rebar sticking out. It does not have the appearance of an ancient building, but of an unfinished object like this.

The Great Basilica in Pliska is magnificent as it is and it looks like it's still being renovated. In my personal opinion, more information tablets should be available on site.

It's hard to imagine 1000 years ago a thriving city nay a capital city was an amazing sight to see. Considering they had a really elaborate sewer system and floor heating via natural hot mineral water springs under it...

Excellent day-trip idea from seaside locations; amazing site size for it's times.

There is lots of history in this place. Pliska was the capital of the First Bulgarian Empire. I was there in July 2019 and they were making some adjustments to the construction. Unfortunately there were no guides in there to tell you more about the history of the place. Still it's worth checking out.

The Basilica is work in progress. Exoected finish in October 2020. My knowledge of Bulgarian history is above average, but the Basilica impressed me beyond expectations. It is part of Pliska archeological complex.

Ancient historical landmark of the first Bulgarian capital from seventh century. Many things to see and learn as well as some nice walk around.

Great place, easy to get, unfortunately the restaurations seems that stoped many years ago.

Feel Bulgaria! It is unique. I hope the restoration is finished.
