Kangra fort is another heritage site. Very well restored and planned. There is a lot of walking so make sure you Carry a cap, sunscreen sports shoes and water. Tickets can be bought by scanning a QR code. View is magnificent from the top of the fort. There are around 100 steps to climb. It is a steep climb. But a worth a visit for History lovers as it is the oldest fort of India.

A ruined fort which was restored after 1905 earthquake and it was build by Rajput. We hired a audio guide for explain but vain hope due to non functioning. The location of the fort on a hilltop adds to its charm. There is a bit of walking to be done to reach top of the Fort from where you’ll get beautiful view of the Dhauladhar ranges. The fort is  protected monument under Archiological Survey of India. Entry tickets of Rs.25/-.

During my visit to Kangra visted this fort and the experience was amazing and enjoyed a lot inside the fort. The Kangra Fort is located 20 kilometers from the town of Dharmshala on the outskirts of the town of Kangra, in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, India. The fort is well maintained and the view from the fort is also very beautiful as the fort is situated in the mountain region of india so it's different from the forts which are situated in the plain region. So overall it's a beautiful experience to be in this beautiful place. And it's a must place to visit if in Kangra or planning to be in Kangra.

About 4 km away from Kangra bus stand and accessible from there only by autorickshaw or can. I was informed that the autorickshaw was of the shared category, but sadly it wasn't so. The tickets HAVE TO BE PURCHASED on-line ONLY. The entry fee is ₹ 20/- The fort is reasonable well-maintained. There is an ancient Lakshmi Narayan temple very close to the uppermost level of the Fort. It is not clear when the fort was built, bit historical reports state that Mahmud of Ghazni in 1009, was the first to attack & plunder the riches in the fort, so the fort is at least a 1000 years old.

A very splendid fort with a deep historical significance. It is supposedly the largest fort in the region and gives a splendid view overlooking the river from the top. Although heavily damaged by the earthquake of 1905, it still stands strong and is a must visit place in this region.

A beautiful historical monument to explore in the Kangra Valley, and a must visit if you are around here. What is amazing, is that such a structure is still quite intact given the fact that it was built in 4 BC.

The Kangra fort is a historic fort located in the Kangra district of the Himachal Pradesh state, India. This fort is also known as 'Nagarkot' and 'Kot Kangra'.This fort stands on a hillock between two rivers (Manjhi and Banganga), among the foothills of the Dhauladhar range. This fort is the largest in the Indian Himalayas, and is under the protection of the Archeological Survey of India. Really loved the view after a small trek for reaching the top.

Great scenic views. Well maintained (small) museum. There is a Jain and a Hindu temple inside. Great walk around the fort, with many birds chirping away. Lots of steps, so not recommended for people with a bad knee.

The way to this fort is amazingly beautiful. Currently due to pandemic they have nicely arranged to get the entry tickets online by scanning a QR code. Options to eat is hardly two small vendors serving basic items. Fort is beautiful in its own way providing alluring views of mountains. One can enjoy the view of tranquil golden sunset in the evenings and feel lost in its beauty.

The place is good for a change . Old fort , surrounded by river, i like structure. The place is usually crowded on weekend- weekdays. This form reminds you of ancient spirituality and avidance are available from 9th century, which is placed at in the museum. Also you'll get some views of old coins which is used in ancient day's. But my suggestion to management team, they have arrange a guide to explain the purpose of places and reason why when and what are inside the fort.

The fort is in a dilapidated condition though the authorities are doing some restoration work. Do get to the top level of the fort to understand why this location was chosen for the fort. You will get a wide angle view of the surroundings including the river stream meandering through the valley next to the fort.

Kangra Fort in Himachal Pradesh is a historical marvel that I recently had the pleasure of visiting with my brother, Rugved. The moment we stepped foot into the fort, we were captivated by its grandeur and rich heritage. The awe-inspiring view from the fort's vantage points is nothing short of breathtaking. It offers a panoramic sight of the surrounding landscapes, with rolling hills and lush greenery spreading as far as the eye can see. The fort itself is steeped in history, and the presence of ancient artifacts and architectural elements was a testament to its glorious past. Exploring the various sections of the fort, we were transported back in time, imagining the stories of battles, conquests, and royal lives that once unfolded within these walls. One notable aspect that stood out during our visit was the number of foreigners who were also exploring the fort. The Kangra Fort seems to attract visitors from around the globe, drawn to its historical significance and stunning views. The diversity of cultures and languages we encountered added to the overall enriching experience of the visit. The location of the fort on a hilltop adds to its charm. As we ascended through the winding pathways, the anticipation of reaching the top and witnessing the majestic view kept us excited throughout the journey. In conclusion, the Kangra Fort is a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts, nature lovers, and anyone seeking a glimpse into the past. Its splendid architecture, rich heritage, and captivating views make it an unforgettable experience for visitors of all ages. I highly recommend a visit to this iconic fortress for a journey through time and an appreciation of the natural beauty that surrounds it.

Kangra fort is first oldest fort in India, located in HP. It has very good sight to see with your friends and family. To reach there you should first come to Kangra bus stand after there you have to take another bus which is going to fort. The duration is around 20 min after you reach you have to walk to get inside. After reaching there you have to take tickets for the fort after there you can explore. PS: Photographs are not allowed. I hope you would like my pictures and will visit here in future whenever you are in Kangra. Till then stay with me will be updating soon.... Love you guys😊

This place is about 1.5hrs (depending on where you start from) ride from dharamshala. The entire route is serene and loved the views from fort. However, you should definitely plan something apart from this as well as the fort is small and has very limited things to offer for the entire day's tour.

One of the oldest forts in India, Akbar failed to conquer it, entry is just ₹20 for Indian Citizens and the climb up is not hectic but worth it. At the top, you'll find a 360° view of the valleys and mountains around which looks beautiful

ASI needs to conserve the place in a stricter way. And most of the place looks tattered at the top of the fort. Those seats are in poor condition. Fort walls are full of unwanted greens. And it also had lots of plastic waste.

Remnants of kangra fort which got devastated in 1905 after severe earthquake which killed around 20000 people . But the mighty structure tells a story of Mighty stand tall and intact with head up....the place has historical background , provide picturesque panoramic view of valley . Well surrounded by temples to visit along with. Well maintained by Archeological survey of India.

I visited this fort today with my family. This mighty structure at the foot of The Dhauladhar Range holds so many stories/history of the past. We saw something similar at the Angkor Wat too. We are totally amazed to see how well it is maintained and protected by the Archeological Survey of India. Historians and Archeologists will have so much to see and tell about this place. We travelled by road from Chandigarh, though the journey was long but this site is worth visiting. Every step you take will make you reminisce your history lessons. The ticket is only Rs 25 and the washroom too is so clean and well maintained.

If you want to see the scenic beauty of the Dhauladhar mountains range, it is good place and you should go for it but for the fort beauty, it is not as good. View is good for all directions like rivers and forests. In summer, it is hot. Suggestions to keep water and head cap

This castle is rich with its history it is a big castle and there are a lot of stairs. I would recommend that you exercise a little before going there or you will not be able to walk after. There is a cafeteria and a little museum there but they were closed for some reason when we visited. There is no toilet on the top so i would recommend that you go to the toilet before heading to the top

Kangra fort is one of the historic place in Himachal Pradesh. The view there is perfect and you’ll get to see many interesting history facts there. Do visit the fort in moderate evening hours to avoid heat. Don’t forget to visit the museum inside the fort. The museum will give you all information related to the history of this fort. A nice place to remember the beautiful history of India.

A heritage site but must visit as it is well maintained, clean environment, beautiful fort and have historical value. The most important thing I liked the most is place was not crowdy. As it is in Himachal so very few people visit the place so you don't have to wait in the que for entry or visit the fort in a line. The song Titliyan was shot here featuring Hardy Sandhu and sargun

The fort is quite well maintained. It is kept clean, has frequent seating arrangements and walking paths. The fort has a small temple, nice architecture in some parts and offers a pretty good view.

This fort is different from other forts I've seen. You start somewhat at the bottom of the hill and as you explore the fort you keep on ascending & reach at the hilltop which offers marvellous views. If you're lucky enough, you can catch filmstars shooting at the fort every now & then. Also there's a Jain temple in the fort.

Very Scenic and very Clean place. Well Restored. Its Architecture is somewhat English (British) and somewhat like Lord of the Rings type castles. it has several Gates before entering the main palace and each gate has its own name. Must visit place.

Very beautiful fort. A large part of the fort was damaged due to a massive earthquake in Kangra about 100 years ago. Still what's left is truly amazing. There is a temple at the top. The government authorities should take some measures for the maintenance as the place is getting more damages every year. Now they have started taking tickets via online payment only and the process is bit uneasy and time consuming Indian nationals have to pay INR 20 per visitor and foreign nationals INR 300

Beautiful fort and one can keep a forenoon or afternoon of almost three hours here, maintained fairly well but the possibility of improving is tremendous but the only facility lacking was the absence of good cafe or coffee home around. The museum below the fork was okay with only the outside landscape part better than the museum or its upkeep. Spend three hours here in march first week and then proceeded to kangra for a sumptuous and tasteful pizza at pizza point in kangra.

Love it 😌 I read it about Kangra fort this is huge and present on height. Most of the part is ruin but view from the top that was awesome 🙂there is a jauhar place also but present in jungle. When Jahangir attacked on Kangra fort in 1620 all the Rajput womens tied a stone with rope in his own legs and jumped into the pond . Present maharaja is Aishwarya Katoch.
