House
of
the
chief
architect
Ghanashyam
Khanikar
who
built
the
monuments
around
the
Joysagar
locality.
He
was
brought
from
Coch
Behar
to
build
monuments
in
the
Ahom
kingdom.
Islamic
influence
can
be
seen
in
the
construction
of
this
monument.
The
campus
is
in
a
dilapidated
state
with
no
proper
guard
walls.
Government
need
to
intervene
and
save
this
monument.
Very
few
royal
structures
are
named
after
the
architect.
This
one
is
one
of
them.
This
beautiful
structure
located
at
Sivasagar
was
built
by
Ahom
King
Rudra
Singha
(CE
1696-1714)
and
named
after
the
architect
‘Ghanashyam’
who
built
the
masonry
buildings,
temples
and
other
structures
at
Joysagar
locality.
The
monument
is
made
of
brick
on
a
rectangular
plan
resembling
a
gate
house.
External
walls
are
richly
decorated
with
terracotta
works
comprising
of
trellis,
creepers,
flowers,
gods,
goddesses
and
mythological
scenes
of
epics.
