Ok, so the gelato was quite good. I had blackberry and it was tart and fruity. The rest of the family also seemed to enjoy theirs - coffee and cookies. However, they don’t show a visible price list and I paid €15 for three of the smallest cones. Staff were pleasant enough, but not overly, and I think they take advantage of their location being next to the Piazza. As I walked away, I couldn’t help but think that I had just been caught by the tourist tax. Should have looked at the reviews before I went in and selected an alternative. We shouldn’t encourage shops like this by buying their stuff. Avoid if you can.

We went here for ice cream. Welcomed warmly initially, smiles disappeared quickly. We ordered one cone of ice cream (one flavour) and one pot of sorbet (one flavour). It cost €18 euros! Absolute rip off, especially considering there is a sign outside saying "cones €3". AVOID!

AVOID!! Hidden price, "Cone or cup" but never mentioned that even by a cone there're S,M,L sizes and paid €15 for 3 single ones. I was told, as I was shocked about the price, that it's written there (on the other side, not too visible, far from the pult.) When I checked the price - afterwards -, and saw the three possibilities, and mentioned: no excuses, "Why didn't you ask?" was the answer. Impolite staff, zero customer service, pretty expensive and nothing special ice cream. Don't recommend it to anyone. We've eaten even in Pisa much-mich better and huge ice-cream fir €3!

For a nice gin and tonic while watching the insane tourists on the 1 hour Siena bus stopover there is no better place. The bartender will make a perfect concoction for you, just ask for Tony!

The sizes of the ice are huge. One Glace is absolutely enough. But service is not very friendly (forced to sell fast) and the quality is just average.

Attention! Scammers!!! At the entrance there is a sign that says ice cream costs 3€. The staff asked if I want a cone or a bucket (both were small). I asked for 1 scoop of ice cream in a cone and suddenly the lady took a bigger cone, put a very large scoop in it and said the bill is 8€. She didn’t even ask if I want a second flavour. Shock! I didn't want to argue and paid. The taste of ice cream itself was tolerable. Definitely not worth the price. I couldn’t even finish it. I wish I could give a 0 stars but unfortunately it’s impossible. The owner and their employees should be ashamed.

Sorry to say but for me, price-quality ratio is awful. For my taste, Ice-cream is nothing but sugar, almost no other taste. Expected so much more for Italian ice cream...

A medium cup with three different sorts for 4.50 euro. I didn't had any ripoff experience and their Créme Pistachio flavor was amazing.

Totally unworthy for the price, 8 EUR for a little cup of mediocre ice cream parfait. Also the space was small, even if you want to go to a restroom please select others.

We got our ice creams in takeaway cups and were kicked out of the outside sitting area by a very rude Asian lady. The ice cream itself is also very average. Don’t recommend if you want a nice gelato experience.

I wish I checked the reviews before I stupidly went in. If you're here, be prepared to be abused and bullied by the rude staff (the manager?) and overcharged for mediocre coffee and ice cream. We ordered coffee for table service but were very rudely stopped from taking our ice cream to the tables. In the end, they took away the ice cream we have already paid for and double charged us for a more expensive one at the table. We pointed out we were being doubly charged but they would not hear a word of it. Scoundrels!

Tourist scam! We wanted to have one scoop each and paid 15 € for two cups of ice-cream. We expected that the ice-cream would be a bit more expensive due to the Gelateria being close to the Piazza del Campo. When asked, they showed us a hidden price tag. The smallest portion costs 5 €, the medium one 10 €. Although the portions are huge, the prices are still way too high, especially since the quality is rather average.

Very disappointed with tasty and quality. I always tell my husband in Italy it is impossible to eat bad ice cream, but this time I was wrong. Mine was ok, well served but very very very very... very sweet and poor presentation. My husband got the mango flavor and he said the only positive feedback he could give it was the ice cream was cold

It was amazing, music was cool, the spritzers were good and the balcony view incredible.

Avoid at all costs. The tables where dirty and nobody came to ask for our order. After the waiter saw us and brought us ice cream they told us we couldn’t sit because it was only for serviced customers. They were very rude, dirty and acted poorly after being asked about the prices. We also found hair in our extremely overpriced ice cream. They’re rude and scam for prices. I wish I could rate this place with 0.

Fantastic balcony to have a drink while watching the activity of the piazza del campo. I had a Hugo Spritz and it was very good.

7th gelateria since arriving in Italy. Like most of the others, we just stopped in while on a stroll without consulting the google reviews. (Should have read the reviews…) I agree that this place is expensive compared to others, but if it was really great gelato then that would have been OK with me. It’s not OK. I’ll give the gelato a score of 50 out of 100. The ice cream tasted like it was imported from the USA. Maybe that sounds like a good thing to someone, but this is Italy!

**AVOID** Went to get an ice cream with my mum We wanted to pay first but they said we can pay afterwards (thought they were being nice). When we went to pay the bill came to 10€ for two small ice cream, it was also nothing special.

Rip off, scam, personnel appears not to speak English and they serve what they want not what you ask for. Suddenly a one scoop became an ice cream for 10euro and the taste was not that special. There are more ice cream shops in any direction from there, go there.

The service was awful and the taste of the ice cream (nocciola) was really not good. The guy serving did not even ask for the size of the cone at first, I had to stop him to say that I want a smaller size. Also during the service (which was too fast), one piece of ice cream fell on the floor and the guy did not care (the balls were not really on top of the cone but rather spread all over the place so it was not convenient at all to eat). I strongly recommend to avoid this place. On top of that, the guy serving was being unpleasant.

We enjoyed a very nice chocolate ice cream there, but even more importantly: the employees found my lost purse, brought it to the police, and the owner even accompanied my husband to the police station so he could get it back. The helpfulness and honesty of La Costarella's employees likely saved our holiday. Plus, delicious ice cream. Sincere thanks.

Got the smallest at €5, a Little pricey but so good and still quite enough for me. Got a little chocolate in my Berry mix by accident, maybe don't clean the scoops thoroughly but I still enjoyed it

Let's be honest. The ice cream is good. But 18 euros for two ice creams is mildly said indolence. Don't go there!

The price is very uneconomical. Although it is a tourist city, a cup of hot milk costs 2.5€. You can find better ones.

Excellent gelato. Not sure why this place is getting such bad reviews but we were glad we stopped in here late one evening a couple of May's ago. I don't remember it being that pricey, in fact, we returned another day during our stay here in downtown Siena, and had mouth watering cookies (Ricciarelli) and large gelatos after we had dined on lunch with a nice glass of white wine for Doris and I had a large cold glass of Pilsner beer to go with our super sandwiches.
