Really good matcha layered cake, and a nice selection of boba teas and other drinks. Lovely atmosphere, cozy and cute. I liked their way of ordering, a large screen with many options and ways to customize your choices. It actually makes sense just to order from the side with cakes as there you can get everything from both places Koyto and Boba. Vegan options are available, soy/almond/oat milk substitutions in drinks, not sure about food though, matcha cake wasn't vegan but looked so nice that we couldn't resist.

It’s been long due. I’ve been coming to the Rockville location for almost 3 years now. We live far about 50 mins but the drive is worth coming for to eat Matcha desserts. I highly recommend the crepe cakes and the towel cakes. If you are looking for a matcha spot make sure to give Kyo Matcha a try!

I initially went in for the Japanese cheesecake, but settled in the chocolate crepe layered cake instead. I definitely wasn't disappointed. It was very like and not too sweet. The little crisp balls of chocolate and chocolate drizzle paired great with it. Also I loved the presentation. It is a great place to take someone to celebrate something like a birthday. It was well worth it!

Kyoto Matcha's ice cream is a taste of heaven! Creamy and rich, their matcha flavor is on point. It's like a sweet escape to Kyoto in every bite. If you're into deliciously smooth treats, their matcha ice cream is a total win.

If you originally come from Japan or have been in the country, it might be a good place to feel "a little Japan". We ordered a roll cake of black sesame coconut, a matcha latte, and a matcha. The cake was good. (We wanted to eat a parfait or a soft cream but it was chilly outside.) It is a nice idea to roll a tiny sesame pudding and coconut cream with fluffy sponge cake! We like matcha latte although it is typical. The matcha tea was ok. If you expect matcha tea like the traditional Japanese tea ceremony one, it is different. As other reviews say, it is a little pricey, but going to Japan is more expensive, so if you miss Japan or the taste, it is a good spot to have a tea.

Awesome matcha place to visit in Rockville area. My personal favorite is their ice cream (they also got Taro ice cream!) They also got really nice interior design and unique Japanese food/desserts! I tried them few years ago and it was ok to good for me! Do recommend to give it a try if you are interested :)

Not as good as I thought it would be compared to the other matcha places I’ve been to. I would not recommend the drinks, since they have barely any matcha flavor, as well as the soft serve, which tastes almost identical to the vanilla/milk. However, I would recommend the matcha crepe cake, or the cap cakes. Though it is quite sweet and minimal matcha flavor, it is much better than the drinks and soft serve. The cream puffs are okay. If you’ve had authentic, pure Japanese matcha products, I don’t think this place will satisfy.

I came here with a friend after dinner and it was the perfect dessert spot to top the night off. We got the matcha crepe cake and the brown sugar boba milk cap cake and they were delicious.
