It is located in the heart of the city. It's a landmark of coimbatore. It is built some 130 years back. It is locate in townhall area which is busy all the time. The time it shows is correct. Still it works good.

It is one of the historical place in Coimbatore city. And it is also one of the main junction to seperate the road towards ukkadam and city town hall places. Near to this place Coimbatore Main Library is there. Coimbatore corporation and Victoria Town Hall building is also near to this location. Koniyamman temple is also opposite to this clock building.

The Big Bazaar and Raja Street intersection is where you can find the Tower Clock, also known as the "Manikoondu." This particular one just so happens to be the third-oldest in town; the other two are located on the campuses of T.N.A.U. and Forest College. Over eighty years ago, A.T. Lakshmanaswamy Mudaliar, Rao Bahadur A.T.Krishnaswamy Mudaliar, and A.T. Devaraja Mudaliar donated the Manikoondu under discussion in honour of their father, former Municipal Chairman Rao Bahadur A.T. Thiruvengadaswamy Mudaliar (1855-1923). At the same time, a statue honouring A.T. Thiruvengadaswamy Mudaliar was unveiled. The Rao Bahadur A.T. Thiruvengadaswamy Mudaliar's sons presented the tower clock to the city, which served the purpose of keeping time for the crowds in the busiest area of the city. It is today regarded as a great example of Coimbatore's past.
