Fantastic dining experience at this restaurant. They have an amazing Japanese chef who serves up great dish creations. Each of their course meals were like unique artworks in their own right. The various tastes within each dish complement very well with one another. Chef was very friendly and amiable too. The waiters were very interactive and informative about the food ingredients. They also gave useful instructions on how to eat and consume the food for the best enjoyment. This is my second time here and the experience is just as great, if not better.

Very good ambience and attentive service. The bread is crispy outside and moist inside. Sesame bread is delicious too. Abalone is well done combined with the sauce and texture. The lobster meat is too soft for our liking. Everything is fine but no distinctive wow factor.

I saw a lot of reviews about their bread and it really is amazing!! They serve 2 different types and the foccacia is my favourite. The sesame is also good just slightly too dense for me. None of the dishes blew my mind but they all had something to appreciate about them. The zucchini in the starter, the aged potatos in 2 of the mains and the langoustine in the chicken main were all memorable. And the service was really good too! The servers are very knowledgeable about the dishes and attentive.

Food is really good. Must admit it's been quite a while since I've been back. The kinmeidai with the aged potato was divine, love the crab cakes and ending off the lunch with financier was a perfect good way to end the whole Jolly menu spread. Shout-out to Shah who is so knowledgeable and warm and looking after our table so well.

Celebrated my birthday here last august and it was such a treat! As my partner and I decided to get different mains, the staff kindly helped to separate the main course as we were sharing the meal. Service was great and the food came really fast with little to no waiting time between courses. All of the entrees were really well executed and I really enjoyed the yellowtail, the iberico pork and the prawn course Head chef was also very kind, coming to check on each table’s feedback on the dinner. The second bread course which was their signature black sesame was a little too much in my opinion, it was really good but felt wasted as we couldn’t finish as we were full already. The pre main course of the fish was crispy on the outside and the fish was soft inside. Such a treat! Lastly we had the duo main of beef and lamb which was delicious as well We ended the meal with a financier and they gave us some cakes to take home for my birthday. Thank you so much for letting me have such a good meal on my birthday!

Celebrated our wedding anniversary earlier this evening. The service was impeccable, staffs/interns were very attentive and friendly. We had the gastronomic course, every single dish was very well executed, truly and uniquely Whitegrass. We had 2 types of bread and both were served hot (fresh out of the oven), eaten together with me and my Husband's fav bordier butter! Thank you for the surprise burnt butter financiers (super delicious) to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We will definitely be back! - Mr & Mrs Lee

I had dinner here. It was a very pleasant experience and the ambience was fantastic. I would like to skip the already-delicious dishes and point out a few WOW moments. First was the bread, it was crispy on the outside, spread the butter and you have a superb starter. I don’t even know how to describe. Second was the Iberico Pork, after biting in the first layer of crisp, that meat inside is layered in a way that all that flavor is distributed on your tongue. Wonderful. Third was the Wagyu. Crazy as it seems but I think I kinda teared a little. The thickness of the cuts were perfect. Last was the sorbet. The taste is very refreshing, like a wake up call from the last few enchantments.

French fare with a contemporary Japanese twist at Whitegrass. One of my favourite meals thus far. We enjoyed every course of the meal and we could finish the food without feeling too overwhelmed. I was so in love with the financiers that I wanted to buy a pack home (too bad they ain’t for sales). How can something simple taste so good ? Their desserts really wow-ed me over. It was nice of Chef Takuya and the crew to greet the guests at the end of the night. On a side note, we were pleased to hear that it was awarded one star in Michelin 2021, well-deserved!

The food was outstanding, and the atmosphere was relaxing. The staff were friendly and attentive. The chef even came out and said thank you and merry Christmas to customers at the end. Because the staff wore face mask, it was a little difficult for me to understand when they explained the dishes.

One of the best Michelin star restaurant that I ever been to! Staff were nice and friendly! The staff always uses the hand sanitiser whenever he handle all the cutlery. Kudos to the team manager, Wendy and her team! Highly recommend!!

Totally deserving of a Michelin star and with potential to go further ! Love the great service by the crew. You get to choose the $188 or $268 gastronomical menu .. we went for the full works. The appetiser of the sun dried tomato 🍅 was a bit of a miss . But after that dish after dish chef Takuya san did not disappoint. Kudos to the bread, baked till fluffy inside yet the crust is flaky and crispy . I could gush about every dish but will call Out top favourites - the smoked cream with raw fish , such unique flavours pairing freshness of fish with richness of cream - grilled octopus ! Best I ever had so tender sprinkled with Aged cheese , beating any Spanish restaurant hands down -amadai with coconut and lemon grass oil, the balance of flavours complemented the sweet dish and further accentuated the dish - rosemary ice cream n pistachio cream, accompanied by cherries , very bold of the chef, using a usually savoury flavour for dessert, combination was perfect !

Had a birthday celebration here at Whitegrass and was definitely not disappointed. We both ordered the Creation menu and I absolutely loved the amuse bouche, the octopus was 💯. Thoroughly enjoyed the lobster and scallop entree as well, very good mix of flavours. Highlight for me would definitely be the Maple Leaf Duck, the white corn puree was a dream! Would highly recommend a visit, the staff were attentive and wanted to make our experience as enjoyable as they could. E.g., we didn’t realise this but my partner uses his left hand to hold his knife and the service staff picked up on it and shifted his cutlery setting accordingly. The small details matter!

Definitely a 5 stars for Whitegrass! This is my most memorable refined dining so far. Before my visit I actually browsed through their Instagram, and what I saw was a lively team that works together for their service and of course not forgetting the 2 lovely Japanese chefs! I couldn’t wait to visit hehe! Service was great, Wendy and her crew definitely know their stuff well. Food? SUPER YUMMY. I really cannot decide which one is the nicest. Can I just say that I LOVE every single dish?! Very very fresh ingredients and the chefs managed to bring out the freshness of each ingredients with their skills. Food looks good and tastes even better. I had the maple leaf duck for main course while my husband had the omi beef. The duck really blew me off. Not forgetting, the breads were super amazing too, crispy crust and fluffy on the inside. I finished half of the bread served, even my husband who is not a bread person enjoyed it very well! Oh man as I’m typing this review, I’m missing Whitegrass again. I can’t wait to be back again by end of the year and try out their winter menu!! They really earned their Michelin star!

Service is good and decor is so exquisite that my partner and I kept gushing about the small details and it honestly looks like it could be a page in an interior design magazine! Food wise, it was very average and nothing was memorable which was quite unfortunate. If I really had to choose an item, I would say that the fresh strawberries with the dessert was exceptionally sweet and delicious. Too many misses, I would not be returning.

An elegant delectable sensory experience. Nestled in the courtyard away from the flow of traffic. Greeted with a welcome smile and made to feel welcome. Food options cover all taste desires visually, smell and taste. Portion size aligned to high quality. Worth a lunch while in the city.

hosted my wedding lunch at this intimate and beautiful restaurant and I was so glad I did. All our guests left speaking highly of the food including the breads and canapés. I also would like to give a shout out to Wendy and her team all of whom were outstanding and meticulous in all aspects of the wedding lunch, from setup all the way through to conclusion. which my spouse and myself truly appreciated. Looking forward to visiting again!

Celebrated my birthday with my partner here and I must say It’s a wonderful and memorable experience. The ambiance is very welcoming and charming. Hao and Alex who served us are extremely knowledgeable and make great recommendations. Both of them are interactive and informative about the food ingredients as well, providing excellent service throughout the meal. Every dish served to us was stunning. Both of us enjoyed every single bite throughout the entire course. Thank you chef Takuya for bringing out the flavours of every dish and the Whitegrass Team for the fabulous night.

Excellent fine dining lunch. The poulet was amazing, and everything was a symphony within my palette, dish after dish. The recommended white wine and sake sang lovely tunes that matched the dishes we had. A shoutout to Wendy that attended to us that made the experience so lovely. Thanks so much.

Dine at Whitegrass on their lunch menu for my wedding anniversary. My hubby and i were greeted warmly and guided to a dining room with about 7 tables. The waiter and waitress were very attentive and thoughtful. Every dishes served were accompanied with short introduction of the ingredients. The ambience was nice and not too noisy, food were served promptly but not hurriedly. The server was even very thoughtful to ask if we were ok with the pace of serving in between each course. 😊 Chef Takuya came out personally to speak to us. Had a wonderful celebration and dining experience. Looking forward to our next visit again. ☺️

Staffs are attentive and friendly. Excellent service. Nice cosy place and properly space out. Will be back for sure:)

Having been a fan of the original Whitegrass under Sam Aisbett, I came prepared for an inventive, nuanced, sensitively executed experience. Unfortunately I came away disappointed. From the amuse bouce on, the executive lunch (for which my companion had the vegetable options and I the seafood and meat choices) felt—and even sometimes looked—blunt, heavy-handed, even stodgy, with muddied flavours. We were also served desserts that weren’t what we ordered, and at one point plates were laid out and then taken away before anything had been served! We did note the excellent sesame bread and financier, which were highlights of the meal—but is this a fine dining establishment or a gourmet bakery? It’s hard to consider a return visit until the menus are reworked, the service refined, and the execution perfected. Time for Whitegrass 3.0?

when i was asked where'd i'd like to celebrate my birthday this year the list of places i wanted to visit, but the list of places that i wanted to REVISIT was even longer. @whitegrass.sg was somewhere i've always wanted to go back to; chef @takuya_whitegrass's dishes and the way he executes them have aways garnered the deepest respect from yours truly; lauded not nearly enough for his technique and approach to cooking it's a double edged sword. while i'm happy we were able to get a table for lunch, i'd love to see him and his team get more recognition for their food! lunch was chef's 'creation' omakase with wine paring. i can wax lyrical about the food, wine and service, but it wouldn't be doing the team justice. all i can say it's somewhere i really enjoy going back to again and again

Every dish served to us was a work of art in itself - beautiful and aesthetic, while also being absolutely delicious. Staff were very friendly and personable, and explained each course in detail. Wendy in particular attended to us, and we found her service to be impeccable. Would definitely visit again. The wagyu beef is a must try! A very special mention to the bread and french butter too!

Incredible level of service, paired beautifully with delicious and beautiful food. Japanese ingredients delivered at their highest potential, with a tasting menu that’s very well balanced across the board. My personal favorites were their amuse bouche, tempura scallop with a beet sauce, their Wagyu, and their strawberry dessert. A must stop for my next time in S’pore. Shout out to Lai, Gladys, Wendy and chef Takuya.

Well deserved Michelin Restaurants. The bread is so crispy on the outside and so so so soft on the inside. Pairing with the bordier butter, it is really exceptional. Every dish of the food is amazing. The service is so good. When the table is full of crumbs, the waiter will clean it up to sweep away the crumbs. The waiter are also friendly and knowledgeable about the dishes. When we found a bone in the fish and the chef came out to apologize. Felt the service was so good. The atmosphere in the round room felt great too.

One of the best fine dining places I’ve ever been to! I can’t keep track of what was being served because there was just so many different courses, but each course was really tasty 🥰 I don’t think I’m a small eater but I was so full by the last few courses, I don’t think I ate any at all. Remember to pace yourself. I’m most impressed by their bakes; their toasty black sesame bread was literally the best bread I’ve ever had in my life.

Our first time here. The service was hospitable and genuine, no pretense despite being a Michelin-starred restaurant. Alex and Kim were friendly and was impeccable in their service. Really great food and service. Love the amuse bouche - taste and texture of duck was unexpectedly good! Mega love the 2 different types of bread! French spring chicken was really awesome - crispy skin, tender chicken meat, apple sauce etc.. everything blended in really well. One small mistake from the kitchen, whereby sauce for entrée was missing (found out when comparing my husband’s dish and mine). It was ‘rectified’ by giving a small bowl of sauce. The desserts Genmaicha was a little disappointing. Matcha ice cream was too icy (probably too much water content and feels cheap). Would be better if waiters could speak a bit louder and slower. It was a little noisy in the afternoon, hence had some difficulty to catch what they said.

Visited Whitegrass on 7 June 2023. The ambience was great; however, as the crowd started entering, the dining area became filled with voices, which made it less conducive for a business lunch. We each ordered one set of the Executive and Creation menu. The food was okay, with the financier being the highlight. Manager Wendy was exceptionally attentive to details, even offering me a scarf when I felt cold. Lai & Xuan consistently checked on us, ensuring that we were satisfied with the food and the pace of the meal. Overall experience was pleasant.

We had a lovely Japanese and French fusion dinner! Special shoutout to Jamie, our main server for the evening for her really outstanding and friendly service! She was just so kind and attentive though out the night! Alex was another server who was also so kindly and attentive too! And lastly, a big thank you to Restaurant Manager and Sommelier, Wendy, who shared so many interesting nuggets about wine and the food! The chef was truly remarkably talented and the food was so tasty, subtly umami and wonderfully fresh and innovative! And his personality was so kindly and inviting too! He came out and said hi despite how busy he was. We had such a lovely experience! Will be back for sure!

Had a truly enjoyable dining experience at Whitegrass last weekend. Every course was like an artwork, very creative in terms of ingredients, and had their unique mosaic of flavors. I particularly liked the belt fish and sea bass, as well as the thyme sorbet/melon dessert. The bread was a bit too oily for my liking but quite interesting in taste. Service was warm and attentive; if the dining room offered a bit more privacy/seclusion between tables it would have been perfect.

Enjoyed a lovely birthday dinner with the husband. Japanese chef with a passion for French cuisine brings out the best of both worlds with more hits than misses. Totally enjoyed the entire affair with mine being gluten free. The Amuse Bouche really woke up my taste palette and made me look forward to more. For mains, we got to taste both on the same plate, and I totally love having those light dishes before the main dish. It made a big difference as both meat were fatter. Very Japanese. I love the palette cleanser that came with the Japanese yuzu that is like a mini pomelo, but much flavourful. Desserts were not really to my liking but to each his own. Overall, it was an excellent job from the Chef and his team. Great service shout out to Alex and Janice. Thank you for an impeccable experience and the nice little Birthday takeaway gesture.

Great value for money for a Michelin star restaurant. Nice service staff with great bread especially the Ciabatta bread.. simple and great. Loved the ikura and pork the best! Just a simple suggestion to take more notice not to mix up the sparkling and still water as my sparkling water slowly turned to still as the course progressed.

Came here with my husband to celebrate his birthday and had a wonderful time. The food was scrumptious, service was excellent and we even got to say hello to Chef Takuya. Greatly recommended!

Delicious meal, excellent & attentive service, highly recommended. We had our company year-end dinner and booked the venue and degustation menu in advance. Everyone had a great time and were impressed with the food and experience.

A cosy restaurant with warm and professional waiting staffs. The cuisines were brilliant but some part of the services were lacking. We asked for cold tap water but was charged for still water. The serving pace was fast (I thought it was just us). The service staff checked with us regarding the pace right before our main course which we felt would be better if they asked at the beginning of the course. The creation menu was splendid and main was our favourite. The service staff offered to plate both duck and beef together as we ordered both. The meats just melted in our mouth. It was also nice of chef Takuya to serve our last dessert himself.

Congratulations Chef Takuya and White Grass on the Michelin star award. My husband and I enjoyed our executive lunch, we especially loved the veal cheek, Fuji apple dessert, lily bulb soup, tuna tartare and smoked butter. Ok that’s like almost the entire lunch I realize haha! Service was good and un-pretentious. Just that there’s a lot of bounced back noise from the chatter in the room due to the infrastructure, can’t be helped. Will come back for different seasonal menu 😊

Friday evening gastronomy menu to celebrate a friend's birthday. Interesting variety of dishes throughout the evening showcasing a blend of French and Japanese cuisine. Paired with a nice bottle of 2016 Far Niente. Head chef Takuya was also a delight and chatted with us at the table about his home town Nara. I would give this 4.5 stars if I could, enjoyed the evening but just felt that the front of house could have been better, the service etc. A surprise birthday was spoiled by bringing the out the cake and leaving it in plain sight while trying to set up.

Situated in the historic Chijmes building, Whitegrass offers an exceptional Japanese-French dining experience. Chef Takuya Yamashita presents an exquisite palate which is a delight for the senses, and features seasonal ingredients from Japan and Europe where flavours and textures are in perfect harmony. My Wife surprised me as we celebrated my 30th Birthday here. I confidently share that it was nothing short of perfect and excellent. We were hosted and carefully taken care of by Naz, Wendy, Shawn, and Vincent. The ambience is luxurious and exclusive, complimenting the gastronomic journey we were on. Every dish was crafted to great detail, ingredients complimented each other in a way that I have never experienced it before. A close friend of mine complimented that as if each dish were an art piece. Chef Takuya is very creative and I thought initially it would just be a fine dining experience that would not be filling but I was pleasantly surprised that it was not overdone but just the right amount. Both of us opted for the Gastronomic option and was not disappointed. Focaccia and Sesame bread were amazing, crispy on the outside, warm and fluffy on the inside. I wasn’t a fan of certain vegetable garnishes but I must say it really matched the dishes well. I loved how the fish wasn’t fishy at all, smooth textured, and the dish that really stood out was the one with the fish scale cooked by layering hot oil over it, making it edible and appetizing to chew. It’s like goodness exploding in your mouth. The octopus was cooked to perfection, tender and not like chewing gum. Abalone was made into an atas Carrot cake but instead of carrot, it’s abalone! And the main course of A4 Wagyu beef, needless to elaborate, splendid and mamamia! Each dish has a unique scent to it and really pleasant to embrace. There was one thing we didn’t like, the gingerbread icecream. It special but really a subjective dish as both of us were not fans of the gingerbread taste. Dessert is very important to us and Vincent picked it up immediately. His response was let me fix this and get it right. Served me a solid cup of Early Grey and within 5mins, my wife had a new dessert in front of her. Hazelnut Mont Blanc with Chocolate Twirls and coconut icecream. Through this we were really reminded of the importance of dessert and most importantly, their service is top notched. They really listen and took very good care of us through the entire night. How I knew so much about the dishes was because each dish was carefully explained and it wasn’t just us, every table had the same consistent experience. Chef Takuya even came out to meet us and surprised us with a birthday treat. The Financiers and moon cakes are AMAZING! The dishes really activates your 5 senses to appreciate the effort placed into each dish. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a unique dining experience tailored exactly to each individual’s liking. I felt that my wife’s and my dietary requirements were really considered and I left Whitegrass thoroughly satisfied. Thank you #TeamWhitegrass for this memorable experience, will definitely be back some day.

Thanksgiving dinner. Glad to be able to book a table 30minutes ahead of the dinner slot. Ambience was not bad, a little bit too dark though. Service was exceptional, with full utensils change at each course and cleaning bread crumbs. Took the 5-course dinner menu and upgraded to beef. Dishes are nice but nothing extremely memorable. The bread is freshly baked and nice. Wine menu is also not bad. SGD 240 per pax.

Beautiful interior topping up with nicely curated dishes. Amazing experience and will be patronising on Xmas to have a taste of the festive menu! Chef Takuya Yamashita is very down to earth and friendly and had multiple times came to the floor to serve and thank us personally which definitely added a personal touch to the overall experience. It will be perfect if the staff was attentive enough to pass the wine bottle to us before our departure but it still did not affect our overall experience. Especially shout out to Wendy who has a elevated our overall dining experience, not forgetting about her sharing her wine knowledge. Hope the next time will be able to get the seating zone with the daylight :)

Had a pleasant birthday celebration at Whitegrass. Food tasted great and I could feel that a lot of thought was being put into the presentation of each dish. Even the bread and butter were awesome; had to finish it even though it was filling our stomachs! Staff delivered a personalised experience -- patiently explained how to enjoy each dish, injected humour every now and then, and even recommended to make a 'surprise' mocktail when they realised I've been drinking water only (I don't take alcohol). The Chef was really down-to-earth. He delivered a birthday cake with the staff and even helped us take a photo.

Whitegrass is truly a hidden gem around this area. From the moment u step in, you will be greeted and guided straight to already pre-set up table. Ms. Wendy will start introducing you with their seasonal menu. Every course, start from appetiser, bread, main course and dessert. Their AM, Naz will explain how the dish is prepared and how you can taste every different texture of the food. Vincent, the main star of the restaurant will dropby and greet you with his professional knowledge on how you can pair your food with their full range of wine, sake or whiskey. I'm truly amazed by all the services provided by the staff and will put this restaurant inside my own pocket list.

Tried their degustation menu for dinner ($138++) and I really enjoyed myself. Service by Vincent and wendy were great and the food were generally good. I really enjoyed the crab dish as well as the pork main. The pork was so tender! However, there were some misses in the food. The zucchini with pickled radish didn't really go well together. The first dish was also quite average.. the eggplant was too mushy and thus I cldnt really taste the eggplant. However, I do think that this chef has great potential and I look forward to more of his food!

Quite worth it with the entertainer 25% off deal! The quality of food & the service was definitely top notch! I'll suggest dress up smart casual for the meal as the tai-tai vibing of the restaurant is strong!

Am glad I discovered chef takuya's takeover of whitegrass. Despite accolades under the previous helm, food was so average I did not even remember this restaurant until I read about it again recently. Food is so exceptional that I've been back twice within the last 2 months. In a day and age where people value stars and hype over actual quality, the new whitegrass demonstrates what it really means to serve exquisite cuisine from the heart. No fluff no crazy sounding menus with words you need to Google, just good ingredients and great cooking. Service is also very personal and human, which is really what everyone looks for in a good meal. To feel welcomed and warm.

I have to say it was hard to pick 3 or 4 stars for this place as the decor was fabulous and we had a nice time overall. The braised wagu beef was really delicious but the service sadly was substandard, from making the booking itself with so much difficulty and the front of house not understanding me, to the water boy putting the food on the table and saying the server would announce it but they never turned up and we felt more like an after thought. We had no idea what the sommelier pairing was and we were left hungry at the end. I just reasoned that if I gave 4 stars it might indicate I would come back, but the reality is I probably wouldn't. Everyone could organize themselves more effectively with a little training but the food itself was tasty and well prepared, just not enough of it. .

amazing place with super friendly and attentive waiters and waitresses. their bread is heavenly (really the best ive ever tried) and it is complimentary, not counted as a course in their menu. everything was quite mindblowing delicious and this is coming from a family of foodie who have eaten a lot at high-end places. would definitely be back soon to try their regular menu (we had the festive 8 course) even though it's not affordable, this is definitely a good place to eat with ambience, good service and delicately put together food.

It's been a long time since I had such an amazing dining experience. From the food to the service, you can tell that Takuya-san and his team @ Whitegrass (shout-out to Vincent and Wendy for making us feel so at home) have put in their utmost efforts to deliver only the best to their customers. From their Winter menu (they change their menus from time to time e.g. usually according to the seasons to ensure that they serve the freshest and best ingredients in their creative dishes), we selected the Gastronomic menu. Thanks to Vincent's recommendation, we also got to enjoy one of the best sake that we have ever had. Definitely coming back here again and let's hope by then, we can still get a reservation when we want to. ;)

White Grass is a hidden gem, providing a distinctive dining venture with its fusion of Japanese and European flavors. Each dish is delectable, especially the bread, pastries, and desserts rank the finest that I ever tasted. The real flower centerpiece adds a pleasant fragrance, and the stylish decor contributes to the overall charm, making it an excellent option for couples and hosting friends. On my second visit, I can confidently say they consistently exceed my expectations.

Food are excellent, one of the particular outstanding parts is the amount of Yuzu used in some dishes like the Mackerel, not too much and not too little, just right at the point. Both breads are pleasant surprise too, one of the best I've ever tried. Service is excellent too and I must praise one of your staff, Lai, who is extremely observant and caring. The only negative comment is the loud noise from another side of the restaurant where some people were drinking and talk loudly.
