Overpriced and underwhelming. Not a standalone restaurant, still depending under the shadow of The Ritz-Carlton. On early arrival, the receptionists (yes, more than one) were unable to think of an alternative option to keep guests preoccupied whilst waiting for opening time. None of them knew anything about the display at the reception area which could keep guests entertained since they weren't doing anything anyway until opening time or suggest a bar option within the hotel. They were completely oblivious to the situation. I did like their wagyu starters especially that mouthful truffle oil explosion. However, their so-called amuse-bouche dubbed by staff as "the one not on the menu" was totally unnecessary and an added effort to my jaw. No sommelier to actually go through with the pairing and the rest of the dishes weren't exceptional. Bird's nest soup with chicken wasn't extraordinary. It came off as just a filling liquid with a gimmicky coconut shell bowl. Chicken meat was just boiled separately, taken out and dumped into the "double-boiled" bird's nest soup. Abalone was leathery. Finally, I was pleased with the smoked duck and was really looking forward to the lobster. What a shame. Watered down with unremarkable lobster meat and just the idea of rice cake swimming in thin soup is ridiculous. Might as well make a rice porridge. I was hoping the desserts would really kill it. Nope. Epic fail. Bland. Bland. Bland. What a waste. And no little petit fours to end since they so blatantly introduced an amuse-bouche to start. Now here comes what I was hoping they would live up to; their tagline, "It's always summer at the pavilion" with their beautifully and elegantly displayed china, and the variety of colour from the brochure and what did I get? Boring black and white. With just the occasional coloured plates. But I'm not finished yet. Dinner ended at 21:00H and was hoping for a kitchen tour or maybe a little hello with the chef like most Michelin restaurants do, only to be declined saying it's the busiest time of their service. But there were hardly anyone. Empty tables remained empty that time with guests already finishing and exiting. What a snob replacement chef in the absence of the actual chef. And don't even get me talking about the ambience. It doesn't command elegance. No soothing background music. Loud, boisterous, dressed in joggers clientele. Spacious seating arrangement, yes, but nothing stunning to be admired in the room. Sometimes, I lose faith in the credibility of the Michelin. Time to knock off that one lonely star? Their "signature" tasting menu didn't come off special to me. I could most probably have just gone with the a la carte or the less expensive "peony" tasting menu (if I remember it correctly.) Perhaps the redeemable option was the (real) chef's recommendations.

Had the tasting menu. Felt the portion and the idea for the tasting menu have some hits and misses. Made you wonder when you pay 188++ for a tasting menu but like serving just have a taro purée with vanilla ice cream? The ingredients can be bought and anyone could have done it. honestly and sadly there's nothing special about it. Any char could have done it. Not what I expects from a Michelin restaurant serving that kind of dishes

brought our families here for lunch. food & service were amazing. each dish was cooked and prepared perfectly. the staff was really sweet as well — she prepared for us a dessert dish to celebrate the special occasion (based on what we were wearing). we will definitely be back again :)

Decent food but nothing to shout about. However good service, like really good, good atmosphere. Great place to bring families with kids. I will come back again, ample parking space with free parking coupon provided too. The tea, I will recommend lychee tea and food wise strong recommendation to try the porridge, better than mui Kee.

One thing that stood out when dining at summer pavilion was the service and attentiveness of the staff. The table was very big and spacious, which allows all the dishes to be served pretty much together. Food wise everything was very good, but also on the pricier side (veggie was $30+). Would recommend the lobster dishes which was unique and has a strong lobster flavored broth. Difference between the two is there’s a slight char after taste in the one with the rice, likely coming from the rice (which might have been fried/charred).

Most dishes exceeded my expectations except the dessert which was ordinary. The smoked chicken was well executed - tender and flavourful. The scallop compliments well with the chicken with its freshness and sweetness. Doubled-boiled birds nest in whole coconut was excellent. The soup is rich and the birds nest were served in good portion. Wagyu was tender as expected. Enjoyed the poached rice with lobster meat. The soup was tasty yet not thick and the lobster was cooked just nice. Dish timing was perfect and staff attentiveness was excellent. Overall, a great dinning experience!

Exceptional. Rarely does one get to enjoy food, service and ambience of this quality. From start to finish this meal was utter perfection. Do try the beef in red wine, beef simply does not get any more tender than this and their lobster meat with poached rice is sublime. Highly deserving of their Michelin star.

The most memorable dinner of my trip to Singapore. The food was top-tier, and the customer service perfect. The diced beef in black pepper sauce melts in your mouth with a burst of flavour. The duck was smoky and delicious. The fried pork rib was aromatic and crispy on the outside with a welcome surprise of softness on the inside. The oolong and lychee tea were incredibly soothing. The fried rice was heavenly. Everyone was friendly, especially our waitress Lisa. The best food and an unforgettable experience.

Lowered my previous 5 to now 3 star. Came for lunch. Decided to order Ala Carte instead of the set and the dim sum standard and my fav fish noodle has dropped. Service and atmosphere is certainly 5 star and would still recommend for biz lunch.

(Translated by Google) Located in the Grand Hotel Ritz Carlton, this Chinese cuisine restaurant holds a rubber star, the courses follow one another at a frenzied pace that seems to us Europeans a handicap, but for a Chinese or Oriental clientele it is the norm, so sometimes we can understand why they bring us some dishes when we haven't finished the previous one yet. The service is still impeccable and the prices are high, on the other hand we are in a 5-star hotel, wine list focused on the great crus of France with important markups.

Last night, we had dinner at Summer pavilion at Ritz carlton, impressed by the excellent service, food quality and ambience. Prawn and bamboo shell were very fresh, sweet and sour pork slightly fat but acceptable, the green vegetables were healthy and nice, Hasma dessert is good and well done bird nest dessert too! Even the white rice smells delicious! Kudos to summer pavilion!

My wife and I booked dinner at Summer Pavilion. It was a few days after the easing of Covid dining restrictions in public venues. The staff prepared a nice table. Our order was served progressively and in an unhurried manner. Each dish was well executed and presented. Appetiser comprised BBQ Iberico Pork & Honeyed Chicken Slices. It was a delicious starter. So too was the Double-boiled Chicken Soup with Bamboo Pith. The Pan-fried King Scallop with Stuffed Eggplant complemented the Braised HK Noodles. Dinner ended with a refreshing Coconut Ice Cream. Tea quality and strength were consistent throughout each replenished pot - Not too thick or too thin in terms of brew. Just the kind of detailed attention at Ritz!

Went for Dinner with high expectations due to Michelin 1 star. Opted for the CNY Ala Carte menu. Had a good start with the soup and Yu Sheng. was looking forward to the rest of the dishes. Wasabi prawns, XO sauce asparagus with scallops and sea cucumber, half a chicken. Prawns tasted fair, can't say it's exceptional. XO sauce dish was a disappointment, scallop doesn't taste fresh, sea cucumber doesn't feel of superior quality. Plating was terrible, looks like everything was thrown onto the plate and served. Chicken had this "frostbite taste" not what I would have expected from a high end Chinese restaurant, not to even mention a Michelin 1 restaurant which is supposed to serve food with quality ingredients and carefully prepared with distinct flavours. Verdict: Plating is terrible. Totally disappointing and awful experience for a Michelin 1 restaurant. Can't see how it's worth the star and the price. I have been to better Chinese restaurants for half the price.

Tasty food with beautiful plating. I heard these dishes were carefully curated with the Executive Chef for an event. The peking duck skin was sliced skillfully with the layer of fats that many restaurants could not achieve due to lack of skills of their serving staff. The team here has good skills! A touch of class!

Got the Peony set menu for dinner. Presentation was quite nice, ambiance was beautiful, service was fantastic, but the food was not up to expectation. For the price and Michelin star, we expected to have some new and exciting flavors but it turned out to be no different than our go-to Cantonese restaurant back home. Definitely not blown away. In fact, we were a bit regretful about having spent so much on a not-so-special meal afterwards. Dessert was not to our liking, but may have been to others. They were kind enough to give us a different dessert to try in its place.

Here for birthday celebration. Chun Wai & Karen were both extremely hospitable and made us felt like home. We return to this restaurant yearly for special occasion because of its food and hospitable staffs like Chun Wai & Karen. Food was delectable - every dish was elevated; it’s amazing how they make a simple dish feel so luxurious. If you’re here, do not miss the wok fried prawns, fish noodle & poach rice with lobster and the smoke tea leaves duck. Simply amazing!

A Michelin Standard restaurant is a 360 experience and Summer Pavillion embodies that! The quality of food never fails to shine above the rest ! Always 6* if I may rate it as led by Executive Chef Siu Kong However. .we must also recognise the ground service staff... And our 😍 server who's ever so thoughtful and considerate Chung Wai. .....we loved seeing him ...its coming back to familar grounds and most certainly, Makes the entire dining experience so much more memorable!!!! I ha e dine 2x this month and have left it to chef to put together the menu!

Good ambiance with impressive crockery that have beautiful black brush ink paintings of flowers. Each diner was served your individual bowl of fried cashew nuts as appetisers instead of communal serving in most Chinese restaurants. Nice touch! We had steamed live prawns that were served with very fine strips of ginger, scallions and chilli in a light sauce for dipping. A silver finger bowl with a lemon slice was provided. Nice touch! Ingredients used in Sze Chuan Styled Stewed Sea Cucumber Fish Maw and Braised Bean Curd Bamboo Pith were fresh and good quality. However the flavours of both were not memorable and the gravy for the beancurd had too much cornstarch. Fried Rice Crab Meat with Dried Scallops was full of "wok hei". The only dish that left a good impression. Good hospitality for there is no charge for warm water.

Fantastic experience having dinner at one of the best restaurants in Singapore. Thank you Nikki and Harvey for being excellent hosts and the assistance in navigating the menu. Thank you to executive chef Cheung Siu Kong for your time and wonderfully crafted dishes. The CNY gifts are highly appreciated! It's a very exquisite place to have a meal. Came here for dinner and had the privilege of a private room and a personal staff in waiting. She is really very good and attentive taking care of all our needs. The menu was pre-ordered and recommended by the restaurant. All the dishes were delicious and elegantly presented. Be prepared to dig deep into your pocket.

Contemporary Cantonese cuisine incorporating caviar, truffles, foie etc. Execution is good and salt is used judiciously. The soups here are the star of the savoury dishes with that mouth coating silky collagenous sort of feel. Otherwise don’t expect to be mindblown by the dishes, but they are generally satisfying. On the desserts menu the almond paste is the best(and most expensive) I’ve had. Service is actually great for a Chinese restaurant.

Not much to talk about.....one of the best Chinese restaurant in Singapore from service to food and even to their glassware. Almost every dish were executed brilliantly, only had one small complaint, which is their crispy skin chicken is a little dry. Other than that everything was beautiful especially the steamed Alaskan crab meat topped with ossetra caviar which I feel was the highlight of the night. Highly recommend it.

After 25-years in operation, this one (1) MICHELIN star rated restaurant remains one of the best Chinese restaurants in Singapore. After all, it is located at the iconic The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore. The extensive Cantonese menu covers all bases, with seafood being a particular highlight. Service is impeccable and the team addresses each guest by name. Definitely a statement of intent when you’re invited to dine at Summer Pavilion, a venue to impress business associates.

How can I rate it 10/10, five star isn’t enough for them. Food, service, plating, everything is good. Super consistent, there’s a reason for their Michelin star! Chef is super charming too, what else not to like. Oh yeah, do try their lychee oolong tea, I love it some much that I always buy a box when ever I visit. Easily the best place for tim sum, be it the looks or the taste, they are definitely the best.

I was here on a weekday afternoon (prior reservation is recommended). The place quickly got crowded at around 1pm, mostly with business folks who presumably were there for lunch meetings. Excellent place for dim sum. The food isn't cheap here, but what you get in return is high-quality food, in fact the best dim sums in town, and excellent service.

My experience here was top-notch from beginning to end! The receptionist was quick to respond and very accommodating. Celebrated my parents' wedding anniversary here and we were blown away by the impeccable (and sincere - that's the rare bit) service of the staff members. Every dish got thumbs-up from my parents, and boy their standards for Chinese food are high. The restaurant was also nice enough to present my parents with a complementary dessert upon knowing it was their wedding anniversary. Impressively, the dessert cake was so yummy that we wiped the plate clean! Restaurant decor is also on point - great ambience, plush furnishings and lovely exquisite chinaware.

I went for lunch on Sunday and arrived about 45 minutes before the 2:30 pm closing. Despite the timing, they allowed me to have a leisurely lunch with top flight service. The dim sum was good but the highlight of my lunch was the lobster rice in a broth. Outstanding flavor. Don't miss it. A glass of Chablis and a glass of rose wine accompanied the dishes along with tea. Keion, the other service staff, and the Manager, Mr. Lee, provided top flight service throughout the meal.

We celebrated our mom’s birthday here. The table settings and cutleries are so luxuriously set up. Their service is impeccable. The food was good. We had Peking duck, roasted chicken, vegetables, tofu dish and seafood noodles for table of 10. When I informed them in advance that I’m bringing a cake, they prepared a complimentary beautifully designed longevity buns of 10 for my mom. We also had complimentary parking coupons. Kudos to the Summer Pavillon team.

The food here is pretty good and ingredients definitely high quality but you would most likely be paying a high price for it too ?? First time i had raw lobster yusheng and real fish mau for a soup !! (Not the dried kind). excellent chinese food with good service. refined cantonese styled cooking that both chinese and foreigners will enjoy. for a fine dining chinese restaurant in the ritz, prices of 100-200 a pax is decent value. its signature dish, a simple lobster rice with soup (more like a teochew porridge!) is a winner. only gripe is service is slow on weekends.

My wife and I visited the Ritz Carlton, Singapore this week for our 20 year anniversary and we saw that the Hotel had a Michelin one-star Chinese restaurant in their facility called the Summer Pavilion. None of us two had ever experienced a Michelin starred restaurant before and we thought this could be a first stunning cuisine experience. To summarize our evening, this was one of our most disappointing restaurant experience ever. The meal was at best ordinary. Some of the dinner courses were tasteless and borderline repulsive like this chicken broth with chunks of boiled chicken floating. We are not a demanding clientele but we were expecting something of a different standard based on our understanding of what a one-star Michelin restaurant was supposed to mean. The restaurant clientele was wearing T-shirts, shorts and flip-flops, some guests were really loud, very young children were running around shouting. My wife and i were dressed up and had prepared ourselves for a unique cuisine experience. we couldn't believe our eyes! We felt like in some popular chinatown cheap street restaurant with the difference that we paid $450 for this "exquisite" unforgettable experience. One exception in our dull, sad dining experience was the staff which were sweet and helpful. My wife and I wondered if we were coming from a different planet until we realized another customer also complained at the Ritz concierge desk about their dining experience. I honestly cannot comprehend how this restaurant got awarded a star. I wonder what a one-star restaurant means to Michelin? If Michelin is serious about their restaurant quality scale like i thought they were, I would recommend that they reconsider the way they award these stars. Michelin should keep a tighter quality control on restaurants that consistently get awarded stars like the Summer Pavilion (one star since 2016). Going forward I will regard Michelin ratings with another set of eyes. May be this restaurant was an outlier in the pool of Michelin starred restaurants but I won't trust Michelin ratings my eyes closed anymore. Michelin, you have work to do.

The Christmas dinner fix menu was so disappointing...they had to swap the soup on the menu because it was tasteless and poorly presented ( huge chopped pieces of mushroom and chunks of boiled chicken )...we were so looking forward to our meal...people were letting their kids run around tables screaming, one man sitting next to us burp loudly, that same man came in sitting while watching something on his phone w the volume at an unacceptable noise level ( I wouldn’t even let me kids do that in public...image in a One Star Michelin Restaurant)...the only good part was the waitress...apologetic

We had a beautiful, delicious and absolutely amazing dim sum lunch here with a group of 5. The staff was incredibly gracious and accommodated one more person than we had made reservations for. The service was impeccable. The table was set exquisitely. The food was fantastic - we were particularly taken with the crispy tofu that melted in our mouths. It was one of the highlights of the week and such a treat for all of us. Highly recommend this restaurant and would come back in a heartbeat.

Fantastic food & outstanding service. My family always orders the London Duck & the Special Fried Rice as well as the usual Dim Sum & Char Siew Bao. A real shame to see a few annoying people leave bad reviews; this place is as close to perfection as it gets.

Food was really good. Really liked the flavours, subtle and not intense to bring out the freshness of the ingredients. Service was great, staff was v attentive. We were also pleasantly surprised by a special dessert treat presented at the end of our meal as we were celebrating our anniversary. Overall a 5 star experience.

A very up-market fine dining Chinese restaurant. Fully renovated and even more up-market now with very posh decorations. Interesting that they use beautifully crafted European china-ware, very much akin to late Ching Dynasty's practice of the rich and noble. Every dish is very prepared and exquisitely presented. You literally dine like a King/Queen. Service is also impeccable. I came here for my Father's 80th Birthday, by the way =)

Service and ambience is amazing and so are the all plates but the food is pretty average. Everything that we ordered, were recommended by the staff. We told her this is our first time and would like to try out their best dishes. Some dishes that she recommended surprised me like the fried silver fish (which is usually served as a bar snack) and the fried chicken with Thai sauce. And both those dishes definitely did not wow me. So on one hand I'm not sure if it was a missed opportunity simply because we ordered the wrong dishes but on the other hand, we were recommended all of them. Nonetheless, it was pretty disappointing. The luxury price for the average food and top notch service isn't justifiable.

After going to Conrad's for spirit lifting dinners my darling wife decided that it is time for an upgrade. Ritz Carlton's Summer Pavilion beckons and it shall be done. Several weekend unsuccessful attempts to get a table failed to dampened my fair lady's enthusiasm. Then we finally got a table - albeit in an incongruous corner. And ot was a mama Mia, or rather, ho-yieh (Cantonese) dinner that every corporate sloggers richly deserves. Everything was perfect from the moment we parked the car - carpark almost deserted on a Saturday night! Greeted and feted at the highest level this 68 year old comopolitan Cantonese had ever experienced, this is the day I could die satisfied. The lychee oolong tea, succulent abalone, fish maw in robust broth, poached rice and palate pleasing "char siew" - scallop starter just made a divine culinary experience. Add imperial level service and hushed diners calls for my first 4-star rating. The price for the indulgence is $459 for two. Worth every cent and every moment. Just one grouse, no discount for Citibank cards? Yet Colony gives ten percent

Peking duck - never go wrong with this! The meat (on the side) was yummy and soft too. Siewmai - my fave dimsum dish of the lot we ordered. Whelp soup in coconut - this is a must order if you love hot soup like me. Iberico pork - juicy and tender. Lobster poached rice - the noodle version is also nice but the rice one has a wow factor!

favourite. great innovations with the menu. friendly and attentive service. what prompts me to finally write a review for this place: tonight one of the staff promptly rearranged the cutlery when they saw one of us was left handed which doesnt happen very often. also the food has amazingly emerged largely unscathed from the pandemic when many chefs are changing at restaurants everywhere. deserving of their 1 michelin star!

We organized our wedding dinner in their private room "Wisteria" and everything was absolutely perfect. Their sales manager, Lee Sun Sun, took care of every request we made and of course, because we wanted that special day to be unforgettable, we had many and every time she was ready to answer and suggest what was best. Many thanks also to the chef because the food was excellent.

Tried their lunch time set (5 course) comprising starter of baby abalone, chicken and har gow, followed by fish maw soup, scallop with eggplant, rice and prawns with broth and cold clear sweet dessert of pear, nuts and almond slices in clear syrup water (糖水). Food taste and presentation is ok. There is no msg effect after the meal which is important point due to sensitivity and allergy. Service is basic. Pricing is considered expensive but then it's Summer Pavilion at Ritz PLUS it is also a Michelin Starred Restaurant! Very befitting indeed.

Spent my birthday dinner at Summer Pavilion and it was no doubt a great choice. Had the $108 set dinner for 2 and all of the dishes were well executed, probably except for the iberico pork charsiew which was average at best. The signature soup, prawn and noodles were mindblowingly good. Would definitely bring my folks here once restrictions for dining in is lifted.

  • 5/5 Yiqing L. 2 years ago on Google
This is probably my new favourite chinese fine dining place - excellent food, service and ambience. Well deserving of their Michelin star. As pictured, we had the lychee oolong tea, fried prawns in superior soy sauce, steamed soon hock, poached sliced beef, chilled jelly fish, and sautéed asparagus. Flavours and textures are all very well balanced and refined. Not a place for very strong tastes, though believe you can specifically request this of the chef if you like. You can change and request different cooking methods/flavours for most menu items. If I absolutely have to choose a favourite, it'll be their prawns because you can (and should) literally eat the whole thing.

This restaurant is located in Ritz Carlton hotel, but quite a difficult place to reach as there is no floor info in Google map, no indication in the hotel .. even there is no name label in the entrance... For first comer, definitely need to check with their staff to fine the right path to get. The food itself is nice Restaurant is deco very well The tableware is very upscale Service is very friendly and helpful We did enjoy a good time in the private room of this restaurant

Was so looking forward to dining here but the food kinda disappoint. The dim sum was very normal. Ordered half a chicken and the meat wasn’t tender at all, it was firm and difficult to chew. The sauce felt very watery. Also, the lobster poach rice soup tasted like normal prawn soup and the rice was like glutinous rice, would prefer it not to be so sticky so that it will give a better texture. The only good thing was the service of the staffs. They were friendly and attentive.

  • 5/5 JS L. 10 months ago on Google
5 star experience all round! From decor and ambience to food, service and dinnerware, was a really pleasant and satisfying experience. Was most impressed by the serving portions and uber attentive service - the staff were very familiar with the menu and always topping up tea, replacing plates and even asked if we needed parking coupons before we even thought of it. Family of 6 and 1 toddler, so pleased, thank you Summer Pavilion!

I made a reservation 2 weeks prior for my mom’s 60th birthday. The menu I saw at $128++ 5 course included abalone and Wagyu with glutinous rice which I knew my mom would enjoy. On the day we were dining at the restaurant, the menu changed, and I thought food was presentable but underwhelming. The price also increased $168++ for 5 course and the dish became Hokkaido scallops vermicelli and red grouper fillet. Which I feel upon charging $40 extra per pax the menu wasn’t great. Presentation of food was nice. But a little disappointed that the menu changed just 2 days before my dinner appointment. I ordered Peking duck too, which we really enjoyed. Though I must say we enjoyed the ambience and service. They manage to arrange for longevity buns. I bought my own birthday cake for my mom.

Went there for lunch for the first time. We had orchid lunch set. Especially love the soup, the smoked duck and the lobster rice/fish noodles. We didn't get to take any photo so just find some photos online to show some of the best dishes we had. Yes it's pricey, but it's worth the money.

Very impressive service. All staffs are professional at the top notch. Specially thanks to Mr. Kelvin / Keion, very approachable & attentive. Suggestions are practical, humble & cheerful. Food is awesome. The fish collagen soup is a must! Love the tea duck & poach rice so much. Dessert the mochi sesame ball is authentic & soft chewy. Can't forget the Oolong lychee (hot), never had such an aromatic tea since. Try it to believe 😍🥰

This is the first restaurant that changed my views of fine dining, being that I always ended up hungry after visiting fine dining outlets. However, I was incredibly stuffed even before desserts arrived. I was taken care by host Chun Wai and recommended the best dishes and gives such a positive and lifting vibe to our dinner. When visiting, you’d definitely have to request for Chun Wai’s service at your table and you will not be disappointed!
