First time trying because of overrated reviews. Food: Just average compared to their overpriced Service: Terrible customer service with bad attitude 👎 We seated around 8pm and one of their waitress come and ask ready to order?! She seems so impatient and rushed, so far to explain about the dishes. We just pick normal set A($218) but she auto assume herself that set is father’s day special one worth ($318). We didn’t even notice the set is wrong until they serve pepper prawn because our set is cereal prawn. We press so long their bell yet no one came until we need to wave so many times. The guy looks like manager is quite okay to talk and he offered us to change that prawn to cereal prawn and said he will give us some discount since their people misunderstood. Actually when we paid bill, they reduce $30 for us so we just ask then can reduce a little more since the two set difference is $100. The cashier woman said even their VIP got 4% discount only and they already reduce price for us lots already like that😏. Actually they are the one who misunderstood and took the wrong order yet the way they answer was really unpleasant. Anyway we just paid the price they asked. Overall: This is the first and last time eating there. Totally not recommend 👎👎👎

Have been a customer of this Jumbo restaurant at riverside point for a long time. The food is always good and service is consistent too. To avoid disappointment always make a reservation. The chilli and pepper crab is a must when visit. Had lobster vermicelli and salted egg prawns this time. Very yummy. Definitely to return when craving for crabs again.

Great food, great service. Love the freshness of the seafood, definitely must order their Chili mud crab, and Mocha spare ribs! Decided to order yam rings with scallop as it is quite innovative. Not bad too! My folks loves their soon hock fish, just a tad disappointed when our crab & fried mantou turned cold as they served it earlier than the fish, we spent quite awhile to devour the fish. We always save our crab last and hence it is cold. Service was very thoughtful too. We were afraid they get us the large crab and fish, the waitress did spare a thought on how much we ordered and recommend us to have 800g fish&crab which is just nice for the 4 of us. Will definitely come back again!

good place for Singapore iconic dish - chili crab. the rest of seafood are also good. touristy place and busy, nice view of river if seated out doors, unable to customize some dishes per their other sites. good selection of wines of various price range available. service staff attentive and responsive. little slow when reaching end of meal while waiting for dessert, about 20mins wait.

Only tourist come here, turning into a trap. We waited a solid 30 minutes after we ordered to get our crab. Before that was the fried rice which was very quick. By the time we got our crab the fried rice was almost done. And halfway eating our crab we asked about our fried noodle which soon came. The food was delicious is why I gave the stars for. Our tables was next to their disposals. The waiters was just stoic. Started cleaning our tables before the fried noodles were empty( last dish that came out) Only when we pay is when they show a sense of politeness. Don’t come if you didn’t reserve, there are rows of seats for you to sit or stand like many others. Inside seating are hard to get even if you reserved. Update:it’s been several days since we visited and they called about my review, I gladly hang up because I have nothing else to say from what I’ve already said. Rather I will add to the tourist trap part of my review. If there are not many locals here and you mostly see tourist then, there’s something they know that we tourist don’t. Maybe something better. Like the other reviewers, this place is overrated and overpriced.

This place is way overrated. The Scallops Wrapped in Yam ring tasted bad and the weird sweet sauce just made it worse. The Golden phoenix chicken just tasted mediocre. The chili crab manto was not crispy as it should be and the chili crab just tasted very ordinary. The service by waiters was okay. The only plus point I can think of is the scenery by the river. Highly don't recommend this place and it is definitely not worth the money.

You can’t be in Singapore without dinning at JUMBO Seafood! It’s a tradition with their famous award winning chili crab main star dish. Very consistent on the quality & freshness of menu items.. big portions too. This time we were a group of 6 “finally” after Covid ease restrictions.. we tried: - seafood soup, very light & yummy to start with - supreme seafood fried rice “must order” on point. - signature black pepper crab, was very fresh and yummy but to my taste I prefer their award winning chili crab more. - Cod Fish Steamed With Preserved Radish And Diced Chilli (amazing, light & can’t get enough) - Live Prawns Fried With Cereal ( fresh, big & so yummy) we ordered the peeled on to be easier in eating. - Cheese Baked 'Mentaiko' King Prawn Each (love, love, love) each order one. - squid with glass noodles ( we had fans for it, for me it’s hard to eat, a bit chewy) - sautéed broccoli & carrots with scallops and garlic ( classic but a must ) - sautéed asparagus (taste very healthy light) - lime juice- yummy - jasmine tea at the end was very refreshing

Had an incredible dinner at Jumbo Seafood Clarke Quay in Singapore! #FoodieParadise Started off with the Scallops wrapped in Yam Ring and Deshelled Prawns Fried with Cereal. Both dishes were absolutely amazing and left me wanting more! #DeliciousStarters The Home-Made Vegetable Beancurd Braised with Crab Meat was decent, but it didn't wow me like the other dishes did. #DecentVegetarianOption The Garlic Fried Chicken had a delightful touch of garlic that added a burst of flavor. It was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. #GarlicLoversDelight The Golden Phoenix Chicken was a new experience for me, and I'm glad I tried it. The flavors were unique and definitely worth a try! #AdventurousEating Unfortunately, I had to skip the Asparagus Stir Fried with X.O Sauce due to the usage of wine. However, I'm sure it would have been a great choice for wine enthusiasts. #WineLoversDelight Now, let's talk about the highlight of the evening—the Award-Winning Chilli Crab! It left me speechless with its perfect blend of spices and the succulent crab meat. A must-try dish! #ChilliCrabSensation The Signature Black Pepper Crab was decent, but it didn't stand out as much as the Chilli Crab did. #PepperyCrabChoice To accompany the meal, I ordered the Supreme Seafood Fried Rice, and it was absolutely worth it! Packed with fresh seafood flavors, it complemented the main dishes perfectly. #SeafoodFriedRiceLove For dessert, I indulged in the Chilled Mango Sago Pomelo—a truly innovative and tasty treat. The combination of mango, sago, and pomelo was refreshing and satisfying. #DeliciousDessertChoice Overall, my experience at Jumbo Seafood Clarke Quay was fantastic! The restaurant offers a wide range of delectable seafood dishes that will satisfy any seafood lover's cravings. Don't miss out on their Award-Winning Chilli Crab—it's a game-changer! #SeafoodParadise #ChilliCrabSensation

Overall food was as good as ten years ago. Service was decent. But initial seating could have been better. We were seated at a makeshift table and requested to change it and they gave us a better table. Really recommend the chili crab with fried mantou.

Food is good! Seafood fresh and succulent. Tasty and delicious. Ordered mocha pork ribs, Alaskan crabs cooked chilli style and Chinese wine steamed, bamboo clams, lamb ribs etc. There is also a 50% discount for Alaskan crabs. Service is fast and prompt Ambience wise - a bit noisy Will return

I have given up on jumbo after 2 failed experiences at East Coast branch and once Dempsey but because a friend came in from Shanghai so brought him here to try again as its like the icon of Singapore. This time, the crab was so fresh and nice. Ordered chilli and black pepper crab (1.2kg & 1.3kg). Feels like the Jumbo standard is back this time. Nice

Excellent seafood option - especially for crab and lobster. The riverside outlet is spacious and the view is good. We ordered the chilli mudcrab, Alaskan lobster, small buns and some rice. Although, as expected, it was on the expensive side, the food was super and the taste was awesome - especially the crab prep. The buns were also too good - slightly sweet and fresh from oven. Tried the dea food fried rice; which was also good. Service was good and there was no hesitation when asked for any help. Overall, good experience and a good option for seafood lovers!

One of our favourite seafood and crab speciality restaurants with a nice river view of you seat outside . It has indoor seating option as well! Place is always crowded , there’s no pre booking so have to walk in early , queue up and try your luck. As usual the Chilli Crab with Mantou bun is the all time favorite, the Black Pepper crab wasn’t so nice . The fried rice is good . The steamed fish is also a good choice. The desserts are sun standard and better to avoid .

Chilli Crab was good, we also got the Malay style fried noodles with seafood, delicious!! Very busy restaurant, we were very lucky and were able to get in without a reservation. Staff are super busy attending all of their tables, so it was tough to get their attention, we managed our expectations accordingly. Overall good experience and would recommend.

Reservation is necessary, or else you need to try your luck. We ordered chilli crab, 1.2kg. The crab meat is tight and chewy with quality, however the sauce we personally feel its a bit too sweet but still nice to go with plain rice or buns.

Jumbo Chilli 🦀 award winning dish is still EXCELLENT 👍 The rest of the dish is also fresh and worth to give it a try! VIP room at Level 2 has a precondition minimum order of $600 per table. The good views facing the Clarke Quay is definitely a plus point for avid photographers!

Walked in on a Monday night, was able to seat outdoor nearby the river. The atmosphere was for sure great, food was also tasty. But it took quite some time for them to serve food, especially the seafood fried rice, literally took almost an hour. The waitress who took our order was trying so hard to up-sell, quite uncomfortable. Anyways, a big shout out to auntie Ann who’s been really genuine in helping us with our requests. She was kind!

Great taste of famous chili crab and scallop yam ring will make you come back this place. I am not sure if chili crab recipe changes a little bit? Some crunchy bites inside compared to previous one.

Recommend to make reservation to avoid waiting. Signature dish is chilli crab and black pepper crab Deep fried mini bun taste better than steam mini bun. You may need 2 pc per person if to eat with crab. Disposable gloves and apron are provided Sitting outside can have better view

Finally enjoyed chilly crab with shrimp fried rice. Food was delicious. We booked for 2 and our table was light under air controllers so our foods got easily cold. Hope not to put a table in that place. It’s better to sit outside.

This is really a touristy place and it is always busy. However, we do tend to take our friends visiting from overseas here for the location and the water view. It’s not the cheapest place to get chilly crab but the taste is quite easy for most people, even for foreigners. The service level could be below the bar as they often don’t have enough staff or have staff who don’t speak good English. Reservations are recommended for this location.

The restaurant is very busy but very well-organized, capable of serving a large number of tables and people. Even though a meal may sometimes arrive with a delay, it is worth the wait because the food is utterly delicious! Be sure to book a table if you definitely want to get in.

  • 4/5 Thu B. 4 months ago on Google • 16 reviews
Chilli crab is very nice! Not too spicy, it matches very well with the fried mantou. Other dishes - salted egg squid, stir fried noodles, fried rice are decent as well! Service is very ok, a bit slow but understandable since we came when they were at capacity (Friday dinner). Definitely will come back again! p/s: Please try to make a reservation in advance if you don’t want to queue 30 mins - an hour during peak hours :)

  • 5/5 Ellie G. 5 months ago on Google
The chili crab (we got mud crab) is award winning for a reason! We also got the black pepper Dungeness crab and it was delicious. Make sure to ask for buns to sop up the sauce too. Only took off a point for atmosphere because decor was minimal and to the point, but makes sense for a place where the eating gets messy.

Located right along the Singapore River, it is my go-to place for my oversea friends. The food is good here but not as great as East Coast branch. Chill crab is a must try. Black pepper crab and Soon Hock fish okay. Service is up to standard and price falls on the expensive side. Average around 100 per pax.

Went 2 weeks ago when GOV ease some covid 19 restriction we are able to sit in for 5 as a family. Jumbo Seafood never fail to disappointed me each time I visit the restaurant. The chilli crab is a highlight a must try if you visit. Another must try will be their Mocha Spare Rib.👍👍👍👍😍😍😍😍😍

Nice seafood by the banks of Singapore River. Good service. Was there as part of a river cruise tour package. Instead of a whole crab, they served chili crab SAUCE with fried man tou. Good thing there was a heap of crab meat on the sauce. It was still very tasty. The other dish that was really good was the cereal prawns.

  • 5/5 Vanessa N. 2 years ago on Google
As usual, great seafood. Ordered the two usuals - one mentaiko prawn and one black pepper crab, each. We wanted to have the bamboo clams but they weren't available that Sunday. The black pepper crab was a bit spicier than usual but wasn't too much. Also, they have 30% off crabs (max 2) for Jumbo members till end Dec. If you can, sign up to be a member, the $20 membership fee will be offset by the $20 voucher given after the sign up. And you can use it on the day itself. Even if they don't have it anymore, there's also a $100 off min spend $200 voucher for your birthday. Service here is commendable. We came early at 1100 because of the opening hours listed on Google (it should be changed to 1130 now). Instead of having us come back later, they seated us and served us some ice water while we waited for them to be ready. They started taking our orders at 1115 and food was here by 1140!

Crab and prawn are fresh and tasty. The scallop was rather small and the phoenix chicken is not a chicken dish. Restaurant was very busy on a Saturday evening but the service is still good.

  • 3/5 Angela C. 2 years ago on Google
Went in as a tour group for the meal with my friend. We reached at 440pm, and was told that Jumbo are not open yet, have to come back at 520pm. Needs to share the table with other 2 people as the table must sit as 4pax, and reason given is now sit seated as 5 people in a group, even though we do not know each other. Jumbo service should improve. A young man was serving the food to us, without the vinegar/pepper per table. we had to share passing the vinegar around to next table. When we requested for it, he just said wait, with a rude gesture like he is very busy and im disturbing him doing work. and he did not come back. That was so dissapointing. This kind of service should not happen in Jumbo but it did. Guess i wont go there anytime soon after this. The food are alright, very presentable.

I asked quite a few people for recommendations about where to try chilli crab in Singapore and the name Jumbo came up several times. There are multiple locations of this restaurant chain. I ordered the seafood fried rice plus crab meat with chilli sauce as I thought a full crab would be too much. The flavours were excellent and I'm glad I followed the recommendations provided by locals.

Jumbo is a Singapore institution and a must visit if you’re ever here. The food is simply amazing. Everything I had was incredible and tasted amazing. Chilli crab is a must! The only issue for me was that the friend rice has pork in it (which I don’t eat) but they had plain so was all good.

Food was great, got the chilli mud crab, cereal prawns, mi goreng noodles and scallops wrapped in yam. Service was quick and staff attentive. Best to reserve a table ahead of time and also decide on what to order as there is a 1.5hr time limit on tables and it took about 40 minutes for the crab to come out when we were there.

Chili crab is decent, but definitely a lot of work to remove the shell. Maybe I’m just not a crab lover, but I thought it was way too pricy for what it was. I liked the shrimp fried rice. The place is packed and busy, get a reservation.

  • 5/5 Jeffrey n. 7 months ago on Google
Chilli crab sauce was warm but decided to go with it instead of reheating it, otherwise the meat will be tough. Kam hiong sauce crab was better after we told them about the issue with the chilli crab. The Home-Made Vegetable Beancurd Braised with Crab Meat was delicious. The Garlic Fried Chicken had a delightful touch of garlic that added a burst of flavor. It was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The Cereal Prawn was delicious, every part of the prawn was edible and crunchy.

You may make a reservation, we walk-in to get the number and waited for about 45 minutes to be seated. Menu has variety of dishes from seafood to meats and vegetables with different kind of cooking method. Price was above average but worth a try. Fried scallop - the scallop was wrapped with yam and fried it. It was crusty but the yam not quite match with it. Crab meat tofu - the tofu have a thin layer of veggie paste on the top, poured the crab meat gravy on it, it’s delicious. Sweet and sour pork - the sour taste was quite artificial and not what I expected but not bad though. Garlic stir fried asparagus - fresh asparagus and the garlic brought out its flavor. Mango dessert - Sweet, sour and refreshing Yam dessert - so special that it was the first time I tried, the paste was so thick and have yam paste inside with ginkgo and pumpkin. Recommended if you wanted to try something special.

One of the 2 jumbo restaurants in Clarke quay area. Reservations are almost always required else it’s a very long wait for walk ins Enjoyed the chili crab with man tou along with other good dishes like tofu with broccoli and cereal prawns they also have a second floor dining area with Aircon, which is preferred when it’s very hot such as today

Visited Jumbo Seafood to see what the hype was about. Unfortunately, it was mostly hype. As a group of two, I made reservations very much in advance. We ordered the salted egg yolk prawns, chili crab and a mango sago desert. As the first people in the restaurant, they advised that our food would take about 45 minutes to prepare and we will only have 2h to sit. Fine. As people began pouring into the restaurant, we continued to wait. 45 mins, 1 hour, 1 hour and 15 minutes. This means we won't even have 45 minutes to eat. We didn't get our food even after reaching out to our wait staff multiple times. "it's coming" was the answer we received each time. The same people who came into the restaurant before us, ate, left and paid before we did. We continued to follow up and still, nothing. Finally when our food arrived (almost 1.5h wait time), the prawns and desert were decent, albiet small. The chili crab was overcooked. We got our bill, explained to our waitstaff our situation. They gave us our desert for free, but the wait was just ridiculous.

Made a reservation 2 weeks before for weekend dinner and can go in immediately. We ordered both salted egg and cereal prawn, they have options for de-shell and shell prawns. Fried rice is good, kang kong is abit oily. Crab is at $108/kg, and one crab is around 1.1kg. We ordered both chili and black pepper crabs. Chili crab is their signature, it is more towards tomato sweet and not so spicy. Won't go wrong with fried man tou. Black pepper crab is also quite good, taste more spicy than chili crab though.

It was one of the best crab meals I had. It was on my list to cover this destination. We ordered a set meal, which consisted of fried rice, vegetables, and dessert. The fried mantou buns were so yummy to dip with the chilli crab's sauce. The service was excellent even though we had to wait for half an hour for the queue.

The aircon was not strong, and I was feeling warm. Good food good quality. The chilli crab was good and my favourite was the Beef. Soft tender and tasty. Other than the chicken, the rest was very satisfying.

As a Malaysian, i thought this would be a good place to bring my colleague from India to try their famous Chilli crabs! I didn't make any reservations on a Friday afternoon (big mistake). Waiting time was between 15 to 20 minutes for a table. We ordered the baby squid, cereal prawns, signature Chilli crab, Black Pepper crab and mee goreng Malay style. The Chilli crab has more kick (spicier) than the black pepper crab. Service was good and all their staff were friendly. We were seated outside so we could see the river cruise.

I have been a black pepper crab fan for over 30yrs, once lived in S'pore over 8 yrs. This is my 'a must' to eat anytime I'd return for a visit. I usually wouldn't choose to eat at Jumbo thought I'd try on this last trip, to my biggest disappointment the crab(2☆) was over cooked and the flavour was quite blend, same goes for the kangkong lack in flavour and mooshy. The bamboo clam was lovely. My waitress was attentive, the atmosphere was good, i sat outside which can get warm. No, I would not eat at this Jumbo again.

My family and I heard Chili Crab was the National Dish of Singapore and a local told us Jumbo Seafood was the place to try it. They did not disappoint! It was so delicious. We even bought some packets of the chili paste to bring back to the states with us so we could make it at home! Highly recommend this restaurant and ordering the chili crab! 10/10

The mud crabs (chilli and black pepper) are very fresh and the price is reasonable. The fried mantou doesnt feel oily even when left aside for awhile.. skillful.. Love the seafood fried rice, top it up with some chopped green chilis, simply marvelous! The salted egg prawns are also very fresh and the salted egg is also not overpowering, love it! Had a wonderful evening here with family

Great place to try SG's famous chilli crab :) Get the steamed and fried "mantou" as well. Their veggie dishes are amazing (sambal kang kong and "qing long cai"/stir-friend chives). Lovely view of the river and outdoor seating available. Great for small to medium groups. Slightly pricey so try to catch them during a promotion.

One of those go to seafood restaurants in Singapore. Some say the best chilli crab can be found here but I would say the best value for money chilli crab can be found elsewhere. Service is top notch food is exquisite but this is fine dining territory. Most probably you could find similarly taste seafood and far cheaper price minus the service.

  • 3/5 Dennis X. 3 years ago on Google
Typical of the price point you will get at such a location and for this establishment. An upmarket seafood restaurant that serves up some pretty good food with their own twist. Generally the crabs were passable. I could think of a few other places which serve up a better plate. That said, the other dishes are quite nice and above average. If it's purely graded on food quality and taste, I would consider this passable. But as a total package, including the ambience and general location.. slightly above average.

We ordered the chili crab and we loved it so much. Also scallops cooked with yam something. So soft yet a bit chewy. Considering our experience there, the price was more than worth it. We chose an outdoor table. It was windy and a bit cloudy (fortunately wasn't raining). Lovely service: they provided some kind of tissue apron to cover your shirt, plastic gloves, and wet tissue. Just make sure you come outside the rush hours, because believe me when there was a LOOONG line of waiting list, if you don't like making reservations.

NEVER AGAIN!!! We ordered half of Alaskan king crab (1.5kg), when the things presented to our table, there's only crab legs and a full shell, BUT NO CRAB BODY! Overall extremely disappointing. This is actually costing us S$250 (or approximately) 12,000 rubles! Absolutely a tourist trap.

One of the best seafood restaurant in Singapore! They open the restaurant around 5 pm for dinner and they provide time slots for diners in order to manage the crowd. There crab curries were the best.

Cant fault the food here but was a very disappointing service from the staff. Very slow service. Appreciate it was a busy night but the time gap between the food was not acceptable. 15 minutes between the dishes. After the crab turned up the rice came 15 minutes later. Couldn't enjoy the food. The staff was very reluctant to get the manager out. Eventually came and was very apologetic. Need to work on the customer experience better

Indian Review - Great place (but only sea food). Limited vegetarian options. If you are 2 people or more then you can order a Crab (costs around SGD 100), else go for Shrimps in the Chilli Sauce. Chinese Tea if you like, go for it, or else it is charged. Good food but you have to wait a lot.

Busy but great venue to enjoy chilli crab and other seafood delicacies. Be prepared to have messy hands whilst you enjoy the food. Cleansing bowls for your fingers are provided.

The mud crab was good and the noodles were very tasty. Check your bill though. They tried to charge us for drinks and food items we did not purchase. Also, we got there at 2pm and they close at 2:30. It was a little irritating that all the staff stood around the few remaining tables until they left.

Superb Singpore Chilli Crab! The locals told us its still 'where they go'...other places have average crab. Perfectly cooked: juicy, fresh, with flesh falling nicely from the shell. Sauce was just fantastic: not too sweet, just the right amount of spice, and deep flavours. The attentive staff were nothing short of Awesome! Such a rewarding experience of Singapore. ?

The crab didn't taste that fresh and although we were the first one there for lunch, the crab took around thirty minutes to serve.

(Translated by Google) I think it is the best place to eat chili crab, which is famous in Singapore. Not only does the view look good, but the taste and service are just as good. Of course, you need to get a waiting number, but there will be plenty of shops, food, and attractions nearby, so it will quickly pass. Store was spacious, too and was comfortable. I think it's a good place to eat chili crab and pepper crab in Singapore. You can enjoy fried rice, fried shrimps and Singapore specialty beer tiger beer as a side menu. It was a great feeling to have a good service when I ate delicious food in a pleasant and nice environment.
