Old trusted Jumbo outlet especially for its outdoor seating area by the seaside. The place has come a long way since the 90s where the outdoor area is not covered and the upper storey is not air conditioned. Generally fast service, though not the best compared to some other outlets. The quality of the food is still as good, though they have made some adjustments like the chilli crab gravy has gone through some changes. The nicest part is at the end of the dinner where you can take a scroll along the beach line for a relaxing evening.

Not the fanciest Jumbo but my most preferred location due to ample parking and sea view. It also boasts a large indoor and outdoor seating area which is great for visitors! The food at Jumbo always meets expectations and my favorite addition to the menu is the chili crab sauce and buns!

This jumbo outlet has to be an all time classic. It’s been there for years and a place I have many fond memory of. I finally visited it after many years and finally took the liberty to take photos and post this review. Looking back, sometimes the food itself might not be the most modern looking or the best tasting or most value for money. However, if it is something you had since young with people you love and have fond memory of, despite the above you will still like it and come back to it, not often but perhaps for special occasions to reinvigorate those memories. For most, this place definitely need no further introduction, you would want to come here for their crabs - most distinctively their chilli crabs. I particularly enjoyed their black pepper crab as well. Like I said, most of the other dishes aren’t particularly outstanding but certainly it’s a place to have a gathering, enjoy some good food, take in the scenery and sea breeze, and create some fond memories to come back to.

1st May lots of people in the restaurant. Ordered 4 dishes and quite a wait for the first dish to arrive. The staff a senior age lady was serving us. 5 star service to her prompt and positive responses. Food were good and nice. But my only comment is the steam crab w/ chines wine which is not as good. 800g $78.40. I believe the chilli crab will be a better choice. Bamboo clam w/ garlic 100g $16.8 per pc. Overall spend $180.

Good, fresh seafood. The pepper crab was nice but a bit difficult and messy to get the crab meat out of the shell. The appetizers were all very good: drunken prawns, vegetables, tofu, clams and sesame squid rolls. It certainly isn’t a cheap place and it’s best to come in a group of 3-4 people. Overall, a solid restaurant.

We ordered everything small - The Steam Seabass with Garlic and Pepper Crab were fantastic. The Cereal Prawn was non-oily and fragrant, and the Yam with Scallop was delightful. However, the Asparagus lacked a bit of taste. The atmosphere was excellent with a light breeze by the sea. The service is okay, don’t expect it to be on par with Michelin restaurant service.

A humble seafood restaurant by the sea in East Coast park. When walked in they walked us to a table next to the cleaning trolley. We politely asked to sit in a better place and there was a lot of other places. When we ordered for some food with rice the waitresses was completely confused about it. But we must focus on the positive and not the negative. I for one liked that our table was next to the sea. The food was lovely, but expensive for the crab with hardly any meat. Out of 10 it would be 6. A little half hienied. Thanks for reading by miss T.

Jumbo at East Coast provides an excellent dinner option when outdoor seating is possible. The Chili crab remains a delightful choice. However, the service fell short of expectations. Multiple attempts to get assistance by ringing the bell resulted in a significant delay in staff response. It seemed that the restaurant was understaffed during peak dinner hours. Nevertheless, the inviting atmosphere and delicious food make it a place worth considering.

Service was fine but not outstanding, with the staff forgetting my request for ice water until i finished my meal. Nice ambience next to the beach with comfortable sea breeze. As for the food, black pepper crab was fine. Fried yam with scallop didn't taste freshly fried which was disappointing compared to what i tasted previously at the Ion outlet. Hor fun was decent. Mocha pork rib was the highlight here with the pork rib crisp on the outside and the meat tender plus a strong coffee flavour. May return for the ambience.

Excellent tasty chilli crab, the flavour is very good and delicious, not too spicy. Other dishes are really worth to try too. I recommend the cereal prawn, very tasty and crispy. Atmosphere is nice by the sea. I suggest to make a reservation before visiting.

Jumbo it's pretty much a safe bet for great seafood and the East Coast location is unbeatable. Here is what I can add: Food wise, we stuck with the king of Sinpaorean seafood, the mud crab. Choose the signature black pepper sauce and boy was it delicious. First of all, the crab was of fabulous quality. Big chunks of succulent meat wherever you dig in. The black pepper sauce has a distinct creaminess, almost buttery. Also it is less tangy than elsewhere. Shrimps in golden egg sauce were nice, so was the steamed seabass. Note that both mud crab and sea bass are alive on premise, so you pay by weight. Special shout out to the asparagus with XO sauce, which was an impeccable veggie dish. Beverage wise, they have Tiger on tap which is always a perfect pairing with seafood. For those with a taste for some wine they have a few bottles around and the Sauvignon Blanc by Cloudy Bay we ordered was another perfect seafood match. An obvious draw here is the laid back location just along the coastline. Once the sun settles and the evening breeze comes up this is a pretty relaxed affair. So if you are a traveller in Singapore, like me, and you want to escape the hustle and bustle of downtown, come here. Just make sure you make a reservation for dinner service to get the outside front row tables.

Glad that the quality is back again after bad experiences in the past. Excellent fresh seafood at reasonable prices. Service was prompt and efficient. Taking off one star for the tiny portion sizes though. Great for occasions.

We were a long time patron of this place and truly enjoyed their seafood. However, they no longer deserves my 5 stars as the food standard & quantity has dropped significantly. Also it has become too expensive. A M plate of Fried Rice cost $27 with only small bits of bbq pork and shrimps. Seems like it caters for mainly for business clients and tourists. Hope they will improve and I can enjoy a great meal again.

We were treated to an exemplary dining experience thanks to Julia. Her attention to detail and thoughtful arrangements for our lunch gathering went above and beyond! She anticipated our needs with professionalism and added special touch to our meal. Lobsters, chili crab and black pepper crabs were amazing. Thank you for the great seafood and hospitality 😊

Came here for company annual dinner, chill and windy ambience with a great sea view. Food was delicious and served very fast. Customer service is great and helpful. They even provide gloves, and apron for customer to eat crab, just remember to ask for it. Also, better to bring an umbrella when it rain, as there is no shelter to the restaurant from carpark.

Always a satisfying meal. The herbal drunken prawns are a must have at every visit. Quality of food is consistently good. Ambience is casual and you can choose to sit outdoor, indoor or in an aircon dining room

A frequent customer - really love the freshness of the crab and bamboo clams! Usually will get the drunken prawn too. Service could have been better but understand that they are understaffed. They have a air conditioning area on level 2 and a ground level (where you can see the sea) which is warmer. Friendly service. May be inconvenient if you don’t drive and it’s raining.

A nice place to bring visiting friends and colleagues. Nice and clean environment, lots of seafood choices, and the cooking are very consistent too. The Mango dessert (see picture) is very very good; off course, Chili crab is a must order as well. Overall, happy to pay the price as you can expect good food, good quality, nice service, and an enjoyable night with your guest!.

Already a household name in Singapore, Jumbo’s chili crab is a comfort food and a must-try. 🦀 Service (politeness) could be improved though.

One of my favourite seafood restaurants. Prices are not cheap but has one of the finest seafood in town. Services have been top notch despite having a full house.

Great environment, as it is located along east coast beach Orderd fried chicken, signature chili crab, seafood claypot and dessert All are good, nothing to complain, they maintain their standard quite well

  • 5/5 Cher 5 months ago on Google
My go to place to eat chilli crab! Price is definitely not cheap but the food is worth it. Their sweet & sour pork is crispy and tasty. Satay also really well grilled & the peanut sauce is good. Chilli crab is a lil spicy but mantou dipped in the sauce is so yummy. Please book! The place is so crowded I doubt you can get a table without booking. When it gets crowded, it can take a while for food to arrive though.

  • 5/5 Warren O. 4 months ago on Google
Definitely one of the top 3 chili crabs in town, if not the best. The food dishes were excellent and at the right price point. Vast variety of seafood and other meats and veggies dishes to choose from. Thoroughly enjoyed the dinner here. Staff were friendly and efficient and the atmosphere of the East Coast branch is very nice, comfortable with plenty of seats for all. Can get packed during peak hours, if not, I highly recommend the outdoor seats that’s closest to the beach / foot paths. Highly recommended!

Wonderful food, helpful staff and great location by the beach. The place was crowded for a drizzly weeknight but the energy was awesome. The chilli crab could be a tad spicier. I hope they didn’t tone down the spice level for the many tourists who dine there. Their mocha pork ribs was super delish and tender. Everything was tasty!

Have tried many Chilli crab / seafood places, jumbo still is one of the best even though it’s a chain. I particularly enjoy having a meal at the east coast outlet with the outdoor seating, having a lovely dinner while looking and listening to the ocean. I have been to this restaurant several times with big group or just two people, had a lovely experience and did not get disappointed. The wait staff are very friendly and give great advise on the portions while ordering. Food comes fast, fresh and hot. They have a huge menu to choose from. Chilli crab and the fried buns are the must order items. Huge fan of the bamboo clams, the garlicky taste with the vermicelli on top is so delicious. Also love the cereal shrimp / prawn and the Malay seafood fried noodles. We tried other flavors of the crab before, the pepper one is very nice too and is more on the spicy side. The restaurant usually gets quite busy over the weekend that requires reservations in advance. They also have more seatings on the second floor which has air conditioning. We went there around 7:30pm on a weekday and it’s quite easy to get a table outside. A good mixed crowd of locals and tourists dining there. It was a lovely experience and I would definitely go back.

Went in at 6pm on a Sunday. No more crabs at 1kg and above. 🥹🥹 Asked for kum Hiang style, also don’t have. Eat chilli and black pepper until bored 😐 The staff seemed overwhelmed, so service were not fantastic. Sambal Kang Kong was nice. Promotion for members in August is salted egg prawns. Ordered a medium size which came with 12 prawns, 3 were not fresh (meat was soft). Totally disappointing. Email them a feedback and no reply for 2 work days.

Visited the restaurant for lunch. Since the restaurant is usually very crowded, it is advisable to make a reservation before arriving to minimise queuing time. There are 2 floors for this outlet, the second floor is air-conditioned. Since we are eating at an off peak timing, the restaurant ambience is more relaxing. The food served is tasty and delicious. There is a wide variety of food to choose from too. Overall, a great dining experience.

Food served within 15 minutes after ordering. Ordered the SET 4 for 4 person which is worth for the price. Overall, food are pretty decent. The Chili Crab 🦀, the stir fried asparagus and the fried rice are recommended.

Great location and very cozy place. The restaurant is quite pack but still we able to enjoy our food. Price wise is on higher side but that's what you pay for such nice environment.

You need to book your seat if you want to get a table at the weekend. Every dish is tasty, especially the clam and the herbal drunken shrimp. The ribs are also very nice. Enjoyed my night here dining out in Singapore.

Jumbo at East Coast can be a good spot for dinner, as long as the weather is favorable for outdoor seating. The Chili crab and mocha pork ribs remain as tasty as ever. However, the service was quite disappointing. Despite ringing the bell multiple times, it took a while for someone to come and assist us, only to find out they couldn't take our order and had to fetch another staff member. The restaurant seemed understaffed during dinner peak hours. Despite these issues, the pleasant atmosphere and delicious food still make it worth considering.

  • 5/5 Mark K. 9 months ago on Google
Delicious dinner, recommend the black pepper crab. Very succulent and delicious. Other menu options are also good quality. Fried rice, steamed fish, tofu and Chinese buns as well as the vegetables were all a delight.

Every Jumbo branch is tasty. However this branch comes with a sea view and sometimes live music (busker nearby).

Very nice seafood restaurant in the seaside, with hundreds of choices on seafood. The crab dishes is obviously the famous one, but doesn’t mean all other dishes are not good. We ordered a salty egg shrimp which is absolutely delicious too!

The atmosphere and the location is breathtaking! By the beach , soul food ! What more can you ask for ! A good beer, succulent pepper crabs , wholesome prawns , fresh salad ! Overall an amazing experience, the only thing is that you need to book well in advance for the place is completely for tourists and gets packed , try and get a place in the second floor, looking over the beach , good beer and food food !

  • 4/5 Aileen C. 1 year ago on Google
Signature chili crab was delicious; not too sweet and gravy was not too watery. My all time favourite is the black pepper. Their crabs were big but the meat was not tough. Price is not cheap but the quality of food is good. Service staff were pretty attentive. Do note that the 2nd floor indoor seating has no lift and only accessible via staircase. Al fresco dining can be enjoyable here under the stars and by the sea. However, there is no shelter from the open air car park, so you will need a brolly if it is raining.

  • 4/5 Yazoo S. 1 year ago on Google
😉🙃🙂 Everything about Jumbo from Food to Service to Parking are definitely 👌. Also very near to the seaside which is good for strolling . However probably they should improve or install more advance or better performance fans for better ventilation. As not many old people are able to climb up to the air con sitting. 😄😁😆.

12/12/21 The sotong you tiao average taste. Doesn’t taste like sotong. The fried baby squid and mocha pork rib are good. Rather unique taste for the mocha ribs. The crab is quite good but not really fantastic. Think they added peanuts into their sauce which gives the sauce added flavour.

  • 5/5 Christopher T. 2 years ago on Google
The sweet sour pork is heavenly. Crisp and interesting with a touch of lychee which adds sweetness. Baby squid is crunchy and black pepper crab is spice up. 😋

  • 4/5 Vanessa T. 2 years ago on Google
First time dining at the Jumbo East Coast branch! The highlight of the meal is the bamboo clam & chilli crab - so fresh & tasty! We were seated outdoor so we enjoyed the sea breeze & sun set as well! Will sign up for the membership when I head down in the future as it will be more worth.

  • 5/5 Herbert L. 2 years ago on Google

Haven't been back since the pandemic started. Managed to get a table on a Friday night and it was packed. The service was swift. We tried a new item scallop wrapped in a mini yam basket - the yam tasted great but didn't seem to pair well with the scallop which was halved and bland. The mini deep fried squid was good as before. We also had chilli crab, the sauce is still great but didn't think crab was the usual standard. Overall the food were not piping hot when served.

  • 5/5 Mark Y. 2 years ago on Google
Glad to see them operating and fully booked for dinner on Saturday evening. We had drunken prawns, sliced beef, steam soon hock, asparagus, squid, bamboo clams. Everything was fresh, well prepared and tasted great. Friendly and efficient service too.
