We tried out this restaurant for the first time. Food was good, not too spicy. The place, being new, is clean and well appointed. The background music added to the atmosphere of being in India. The staff were helpful, but did not communicate well in English, and I do not speak Tamil. The service has improved. Good food.

Tasty Breakfast we had and it's different from all restaurant.. This restaurant had a menu and we ordered from it.. Food was neatly and deliciously made.. Very nice food.. But when it comes for payment was the difference between any other restaurants.. Here they didn't give us a bill, said deposit or donate whatever you feel to that pot in the reception.. Felt so much gratitude.. They gave very nice food for the body and even for the Soul.. Thanks for running this so beautiful.. Even the staff were so happy cleaning the table, greeting the customers.. GOD Blessings for this Restaurant in Singapore

Decided on this place for a late breakfast after our Diwali prayers at the nearby Srinivas Perumal temple. Service was ok - order taking can improve. We ordered the following - 1) Ghee Masala Dosa - Crispy dosa, and a generous quantity of potato. 2) Ghee Podi Masala Dosa - Not as crispy as the ghee masala dosa, but still nice. Podi is not spicy. 3) Filter coffee - very okayish filter coffee. The quantity of peanut chutney and tomato chutney provided is too less. Rasam is good.

Good place and the new management is good. However, there were many items available. This was a turn off. So we had to only opt for the dosas. The dosas were crispy and very delicious. They were a little cold however. The peanut chutney and the arrays of other chutneys were exceptional. Overall, not bad in taste but it wasn’t the best. They can fitter improve.

Spicy food is the first thing I would say about this restaurant. But taste good as they use pepper n green chilli to make it spicy..home made food. Full of flavors. Disappointed for the cold food served. Cold idli n vadas .dosa also cold ...we requested them to get another plated of hot vadas n that was much better than the cold Vadas. Service is quick within 2 min cold idli n vadas 10 minutes we got dosa not very hot just normal...if the managementcan look n work on that bit it would be great. Also no spoons on the table...everytime we need to ask for spoon. since the taste is good I have given 5 stars. I feel it u really hungry n can't wait to wait for ur turn for MTR ...Lakshmi Narayana resturnat is a good option for food. Very good for Spicy lovers. Rava dosa was filled with black pepper ...green chillies n Coriander leaves. Too good I would say. Must try only thing is was served cold :(. Don't recommend with kids ad they won't be able to handle the spicy food. Typical Andhra home made spicy flavored food. Ok once in a while for ppl who don't eat spicy food. Have given 3 start for service as could have made hot food n served it better. Coffee i would say was not upto the mark...better avoid it. We make better coffee at home.

Visited this restaurant as they reopened on 26th August 2022. The same amazing food and the place has a nice new facelift. I was so happy to see that their menu, quality of food and the taste remain unchanged. Traditional south Indian food with an authentic taste.

Absolutely loved the South Indian meals. Deliciously prepapred, everything in the meal oozes quality. The filter coffee is also amazing. Service is quiet ok, and you don't go here for the ambiance. If quality South Indian food is what you are looking for, go....

Bring your own water folks. Had to try to grab attention, then asked man at the front for a cup of water. He went off, got one and gave it to another patron who had just sat down. Very curious. Asked the waitress for a cup of water and she subsequently avoided me. Perhaps not so curious. I’ll put that down to laziness and apathy. Finally, asked young Raman and he served. Thanks Raman👍. You almost saved this place from a blasting on the review. I had the pongal, which was alright, but as we all know, service is half the dining experience. Finally, the bill came up to $12.95 as totalled by the machine and they rounded it up to $13. Shouldn’t a tip no matter how small, be determined by the patron and not by you ?!? I walked over to this place because MTR next door, which was my actual destination, had a long line waiting. My recommendation to diners - get in line at MTR and give this place a miss. Not sure where all the 5 stars are coming from….. If not for the overflow from MTR, I suspect this place would be empty and their attitude a bit more humble.

First time step in, all menu pure vegetarian without alliums, no onion no garlic. I tried their Masala Dosai, together with tomato, peanut, coconut sauce, nice delicious, match and smooth. 👍👍👍 they keep serving extra sauce 👍. Tried another Sambal Vadai, soak in gravy sambal served with peanut and coconut sauce sauces, very nice too. Rich in flavor yet not overtaking other flavors 👍👍👍 overall : Food, Service and Atmosphere are satisfying 😊 Recommended! 👍👍👍

To enjoy a proper South Indian Vegetarian food do visit this place. Had a good tasty Poori Meal today with varieties of Curries, Sambar, Rasam. It’s unlimited, you can order for anything you want and the friendly staff will serve. Durga was the staff who we interacted today a lot and she was extremely customer friendly, when we asked for coffee to be given in a Brass glass and tumbler, she took back the one served in Steel and served our request. Will visit again and taste all available items from the menu.

Had a worst experience of lifetime! We 5 friends went for food at 3PM. We asked if we get the food and they said yes. But once we sat down, they said only rice and sambar was there. We were ok with that. But the serving lady was so rude, that she was almost throwing the food into our plates. Whatever we ask she got angry says something to us in Tamil and almost pouring (not serving) the food into our plates. That was a horrific experience I've ever seen. I'll never go to this one again. We went there by reading so many good reviews. But this was completely opposite, we felt that we are asking for free food and the servant was the Boss. Sample picture of the plate when we asked for 1 Pappad and little veggies.

Looks like a new management took over the hotel. The dining area looks renovated, walls given a new look. Good for a small group or family gathering. They have to improve food quality a lot. Last time I visited the podi dosa was horrible, more oily, every part of the dosa piece had chilly in it, full of chilli powder/podi and couldn't tolerate spicy/chilli taste. Poori was ok, side dish was oily.

Have always been a fan of their traditional fare. Was sad to see them go out of business few years back. But seems some new management has taken over. Gladly, it's the same taste / some items even better. Wish them the best!

Amazing food and reasonably priced. I ordered south Indian meal and my Chinese friend had ordered for hot and spicy Andhra dosa. He loved the dosa and I loved the authority of south Indian meal taste. The meal was very appropriate with varieties, sweet and dahi. Bill with two drinks added, came to 24. However the waiters are not organised and hence the efficiency suffers. Can be done better

Not sure if this is popular in Singapore but it definitely deserves to be! Right next to MTR, this place feels homey and serves South Indian food instead. I came here primarily for their filter coffee (Filter Kaapi) and very much enjoyed it! The coffees are served in a dabarah which is basically a cup and a container, to allow you to pull and aerate the coffee by pouring it between the cup and containers. Filter Coffee ($3.00) This is probably the image that comes to mind when you think about Filter Kaapi. The coffee contains a bit of milk and sugar on the side to add. This coffee is strong and actually has a similar profile to a latte but smoother. Strongly recommended to try adding the brown sugar as it really changes it up! Chukku Malli Coffee ($3.50) This coffee doesn’t typically have milk and instead has a strong taste of cinnamon and ginger. There’s sugar already added in order to balance out the more intense flavours from the spices. Drinking it warms you up due to the spices and it isn’t bitter at all! Definitely give this a try if you have not!

Oh my! The moment when I discovered a gem place I know it! About 3 years back, someone introduced me to this place for lunch. When I stepped in, found it was a nice cosy vegetarian restaurant. I ordered a briyani mixed set and I love it immediately! I kept coming back to try more varieties on the menu. I am very adventurous with food for sure. They serve breakfast and lunch. Have a break before they serve dinner. I never knew what Pongal is until I tasted their yummilicuous Pongal! Oh I love the taste of ghee in it which they have a nice and fine balance. They serve the same food throughout the day. Rest assure, they are all home made and handmade fresh, from their chutney to their sambar. Ooh, did I mention that i love their Masala tea too?! So yummy! I was there this evening and I had my fav, Tiffin combo set that comes with the tea too! This is one place that I can have Idly even in the evening! :) I must say, this is a family owned restaurant. The family members takes turn to serve. The service may be slow at times when it's crowded. They are short handed at times too. Do take note of their opening timings. I know, to each their own taste... As for me, I am always satisfied when I walk out of the restaurant. I will add more pictures as I go along. Enjoy! Bon Appetite!

Super homely taste, mild and natural flavors rather than the typical oily and spicy overpowering taste you find in restaurants. Visit here only if you miss home style Tam Bram veg food. If you expect the typical restaurant fair you will be disappointed

Best dining experience. This place is next to MTR, just opposite the perumal temple. It has very clean and casual ambience nothing fancy. But once you enter, you are greeted by two ladies who always serve me food as a mother. They recommend what is best and hot for that time of the day. I usually go to places where staff treats you nicely. There are pictures of Hindu Gods and Goddesses and continues chanting of hymns is be played Food is made in pure ghee so price s are slightly higher. If you want to know what a home made indian veg. Tastes like, this is the place. Sabudana khichadi, rava and rice khichdi are my favorite If you are hungry try unlimited thali which is served as much as you want on banana leaf. I always eat and pack more food for later!! I hope they provide home delivery some day.

Price: $4.00 (Plain Thosai) Plain Thosai: 5/5 Thosai was very crispy, savoury and sour. Sambar: 4.5/5 Sambar was flavourful, savoury, hearty, sweet and slightly spicy. Chutney: 5/5 Orange chutney was tomatoey, tangy and spicy. Brown chutney was peanuty and spicy. Green chutney was coconuty and gingery. Red sauce was savoury and had crunchy bits. Total score: 14.5/15 Add-ons: Filter Coffee ($3.00) was fragrant and smooth. Amazing service from the service team. Had to wait a little for my thosai but it came out extremely crispy and satisfying. The sambar was delicious and the chutneys were great. The restaurant was brightly lit, clean and had Indian music playing in the background.

Came here on a busy Saturday afternoon. Staff were very busy but very attentive. We ordered the Andhra Thali and it was honestly so good. You wouldn’t even be able to tell it’s made without onion and garlic. We had the masala vadai and filter coffee as well. Too good. We couldn’t get enough and came down for lunch the next day. This place is highly underrated. Totally worth the visit!

It’s maybe after decades I chanced to sit in an 1980s-90s wedding meal format .. those rows of longish tables, water sprinkled on it, white paper rolled on it, then natural leaf plates laid out (not paper look alike) and offcourse eat with your hands! Sri Lukshmi Naarasimhan is a normal restaurant other days, but once a month converts to a special meal - mix of Tamil brahmin & Kerala brahmin vegetarian dishes - where you eat as much you want and pay as much as you please. They wudve put >16 items on and around my plate and so honestly I lost track which tasted good and which tasted excellent. Overall it was a great experience with a variety of items each cooked light. The lasting impression aside the arrangement was the warmth with which the staff were serving and taking care. Asking to ‘take more’, ‘put more on Sir’s plate’ & ‘what will happen with one more spoon of Pitlai, Sir’ .. typical Indian-ness. Insisting that pure ghee is good for health than western marketed rumours we tend to believe etc. The other day I was saying how service level has greater impact on your culinary experience. It’s indeed the biggest deciding factor. I will visit this place again, get my family along and come out licking fingers. Recommended.

We were 5 of us. There wasn’t a big crowd yet we didn’t get assistance on a table. I had to get extra chair, menus all myself. Had to ask 3 times for complimentary water. No variety in menu and dosas were very average in taste. There has to be a reason why there is a snaking queue for neighbouring restaurant while restaurants in the same line are still waiting for a full house. Lot to learn. Not sure if I would go back.

We order for a Take Away South Indian meal. But very shocked after reaching home. NO SAMBAR, NO RASAM and POTATO NOT COOKED also BEANS NOT COOKED. Very worst and we had to just eat rice with More kulambu and keerai kootu for SGD 12.50.

Disappointed! First a disclaimer: I am from Bangalore and therefore a die hard MTR lover but married to a Madrasi who does not like MTR. Decided on SLN today since MTR was crowded. And we were trying SLN Firstly service is very bad, no spoons given, no tissues on table, order messed up. My order did not turn ip Food was stone cold and “very average” (my wife’s words not mine). I will stick to MTR. My wife will stick to Murugan. We walked out to MTT where my order took 2minutes.

I've always seen a long queue at MTR nearby but people miss this underrated gem. The food is fresh, authentic and healthy. Their plain rawa dosa has pieces of fresh herbs and cashews. The peanut chutney is high in protein and impeccable. Service was friendly and caring- they served me a free portion of veggies that was not a part of my meal even though I offered to pay. And the veggies were not oily and like made at home. This is Podi and Poriyal quality of food at extremely affordable prices. My current favorite in little india!

The place was well lit, clean and looked inviting. The food tastes good. Their wall décor is divine. The entrance looks very inviting. The wait staff were good and friendly. I would have rated 5 on service, but they delayed our coffee order a bit. One of the good places to have South Indian Vegetarian cuisine in Singapore

Pretty good spot for dosa. The mango lassi was pretty good and so was the masala dosa, although the dosa could be a bit more crispy. Service is pretty quick here too.

Food always to the level. Delayed order on busy weekend dinner. Probably gotta wait 15- 20mins for every 2nd order. Careful while getting take away. I gotta lottery of having plastic sheet in it🤣

We have been coming to this place for over a year. The food is great here, clean and healthy vegetarian food. However the service can be improved tremendously. Staff are slow and not proactive in serving (need to keep reminding or trying to get their attention), counter elderly lady is sometimes rude sometimes nice to customers, not just us, we have noticed a few times with every customer. We understand the stress that comes with any f&b service but to treat your guests and customers well is the essence of any food. This is just our honest opinion about the service as compared to the other indian restaurants. Food is great, no doubt.
