Food Used to be good. Not anymore. Reviews are right. Standard has dropped. Signature dish soup is BLAND. Disgusted with arrogant and cocky lady boss. Ask for some sweet sauce with fried chicken dish and she told me i did not order spring roll so can't give me sweet sauce. I asked her again really? she said yes, as if I can't afford sweet sauce? or is she too lazy to pour some? Lady boss was busy drinking beer during the duration of my meal. No wonder it is not crowded anymore! Please do yourself a favor and close the shop if you are not interested in doing business. Food standard drop because your chef's are leaving due to your attitude.

The food is amazing, prawn paste chicken is fragrant and tasty but not too oily. The fish in the XO fish soup is thick and nice and overall an amazing meal. As for the service, the attitude of the old uncle has not changed for years, still the same grumpy rude fellow. Ignore his lack of service the rating could easily be a 5 stars. 1 April update: grumpy uncle seems to be in better mood today, he said thank you! His business would soar if he continue to be polite. Anyway, the food is still very good, best prawn paste chicken.

Food quality: XO fish soup was severely lacking XO taste and smell, 0 fragrance nor depth to the flavour. Plated the food with the paper chit along with it & didn’t bother removing. Service: extremely rude man and lady who took orders. 1. Did not allow you to sit at the large table if you don’t order for min 5 pax (we were 7 adults + 2 kids), so we were told to squeeze at a smaller table. Got chased again to another much smaller table because we ordered for 4 pax. So we obliged and ordered for 1 additional pax. 2. When asking for an extra bowl for the kids to drink some soup, the male boss scolded us and said he will run out of business with such requests (??) With this attitude, not surprising if his prediction comes true. Extremely disappointing & bad experience.

Fishy smell from the 1st note, not from the fish but from the soup. Even the “XO” sauce and milk cannot cover the smell. Normally I can take and like some of fishy taste, but not this. The bee hoon has “flour” smell too. 3 piece of fish meat + few stalk of baby cabbage + XO = $8 Overall taste makes me felt it’s expensive.

Date of visit : Tue 1st Nov 2023 Time : 11.30 pm Came early so not much queue. Ordered san lao hor fun for 4 pax (5 of us), XO bee hoon for 2, 4 prawn paste chicken and a dish of kailan. And 1 rice. Priced about $60 for 5 of us. Only san lao hor fun and chicken wings are good. Kailan is alright. For the hor fun, sliced snakehead meat is used. For the XO bee hoon soup, soup is not tasty and tasted of milk. The XO doesn’t make it better so don’t waste money. Fish head pieces are deep fried.

The uncle at the stall was really rude! I got scolded and shouted at for wanting to pay early. What was wrong with that? 🙁 Called and dabaoed the fish head noodles. 6/10 for taste. Standard dropped. Won’t go back.

$20 fish slice with only 6 pathetic slices of fish and very few pieces of vegetables, whole bowl full of soup. The person who took our order were rude and loud and arrogant. My colleague said he is the boss of the restaurant. Would never ever step into this place again. It's our first and last time. Never will we recommend to others too. Service and attitude plays a big role.

Contrary to the many reviews, my visit was pleasant and thought that the service was generally ok. The fish head bee Hoon is more on the milky side but i thought it was good and serving was aplenty. Plenty of parking on the multistory carpark as well.

Worst attitude and service! I stay near there and sometimes will order the food at this coffeeshop. Today I Ordered 1 bowl of XO fish head. Asked for a small bowl so that my kid can share with me. The stall owners (2 different aunty) didn’t want to give the small bowl coz I only ordered 1 bowl. Parents bring your own bowl for your kid if u wanna eat there. 🤬

Standard drop already. The XO Fish Bee Hoon only has the smell of XO but not the flavour, and they are rather heavy handed with the milk added to the soup so much so I taste milk powder. The hei zor is still OK.

Service is terrible. The male uncle (presumably the boss) treats you like as if you're dying to try their food like what other reviewers had said. He was not ok with us ordering food from other stalls to share too if we're seating at his reserved tables. We ended up ordering it for takeaway instead. Fish soup is decent, but I think spending a little more for the XO is not worth it.

The attitude of the staff who run this place is pretty legendary. You only need to read through the reviews to understand. Apart from that, food is really 5 stars in terms of quality, portion and value for money. No one visits this place without trying the XO Fish Bee Hoon Soup, Prawn Paste Chicken and Har Chor (Prawn Rolls). These are the signature items that are really delicious. Even with takeaway order, food was still warm and packed well.

Standard of fish soup dropped drastically I was so surprise. It tasted like milk, no XO or fish soup taste. Didn’t finish the whole bowl. Fried chicken was good though, juicy at this point at night where I visit. The only thing that is consistent is the bosses (male and female) way of talking with customers 😬😬 I’m very chill, so I’m cool. But was hoping their food make up for it…sadly it didn’t. Will probably give their San lor hor fan a try next time round if I happen to pass by but other than that, the Clementi’ Song fish soup at the Clementi hawker is way better (just ate it few days ago)

Agreed with others reviewers. Food used to be good but not anymore. The fish soup and fish smell terrible and can’t be eaten. The attitude of the boss and workers are bad. Unable to get extra bowl for the kids and even getting the soya sauce for the kid was getting scolded by the worker, saying cannot! Highly not recommended and won’t come back again!

Been going to this place for years but the food quality has deteriorated significantly. The worst of it all was the atrocious service - I wanted to take small bowls to share the bowl of fish soup noodles that I had with my family, but was rudely elbowed out by a service staff who scolded me and said that I was not allowed to do that. It left an extremely bad taste in my mouth and I would not recommend anyone to patronize such a place with poor service.

While talking to my in-laws recently, they mentioned one of the place that they when for dating was @ XO Fish Bee Hoon, Smith Rd. So we decided to bring to the outlet @ Dove. Reading all the comments here totally agreed that there service is pretty bad. So we did another approach, we ask the owner 1st, where could we sit for 4 pax. With an impatient tone, he said order first than he arrange. For $57, we got XO Fish Bee Hoon for 4, San Loh Hor Fun for 2, Shrimp Roll & HK Kailan. Overall not so bad, the food were served quite fast, taste slightly bland but for two 90 years old in-laws they enjoy it

The XO Fish Head Noodles was decent. I liked their San Lao Hor Fun more, it was yummy! For the other dishes, the Hong Kong Baby Kai Lan and the Prawn Roll were good. However, the Chicken With Prawn Paste Sauce was average.

I've been visiting this stall regularly, huge fan of the food here. Had the XO Fish Soup Bee Hoon, Har Cheong Gai (Prawn Paste Fried Chicken) and San Lou Hor Fun (Sliced Fish flat rice noodles). Really liked the XO broth and the Har Cheong Gai is superb! Crispy thin skin on the outside, moist juicy chicken within. Service might not be the friendliest at times, but overall still highly recommend to try the food here!

Favourite tze char. The fish soup noodles didnt taste as good, the fish meat was too fishy. Prawn paste chicken, salted egg prawn, and san lau hor fun were standouts! Spent about $200+ for all the food for a group of 8.

I used to love this place. After visiting Singapore again after so many years, feel that the standard has dropped. Still nice, but not the same great taste as before when they were at Holland V. 😢

Ordered the xo fish head which was 8 dollars. Soup had a significant xo smell. Only downside is there was too little fish, and way too much noodles. Can see that after I finished, there was so much noodles left. Would say that it is not value for money, but tastes okay. Previously ordered the San lao hor fun. It was bland and did not taste good.

We had the crab bihun and at $50 I was wondering if I was being ripped off. But when it came, it was quite delicious. The soup was a cross between cream of chicken and mushroom, the bihun noodles were the right al dente consistency. Crab was huge and pre cracked and the meat was juicy. We also ordered the prawn paste chicken wings which was 6 pieces for $9. These are not cheap prices but worth treating yourself once in a while. Friendly folks. Joke with them and smile. It goes a long way.

Although price for the XO Fish Soup Beehoon went up, and the quality dropped a little, it's still one of the best in town. Been eating this since they were in Holland Village more than 2 decades ago. Hopefully they keep it going as long as possible!.

Taste good, have been visiting on and off during lunch hour. Portion getting smaller but taste remain as good. Love the 三捞河粉, portion for one feeds female eater (small eater) which is SGD 6. A bit expensive for the portion.

Admittedly, I do like your food. But your terrible attitude makes an otherwise great dish unpalatable. And honestly I don't understand why -- so my sympathy for any mental issues that you may suffer from. I once brought a prominent EU judge to your store to try local food, and you mistreated her with such disrespect as to make her wonder whether you are a racist. No, you are not; or maybe you are -- you alone against the rest of us.

Fish is pretty good! Soup (didn’t order the XO one) was okay, abit too milky for my liking though. But one interesting thing about it’s milkiness is that it doesn’t end with the sweet taste. The soup has a saltiness delight to it. I had the thick beehoon. It’s of a good chewiness and consistency. Would come back again with friends 👍🏻

NEGATIVE 5 STAR!!!! 👎👎👎👎👎 Food so so only... Standard dropped.. What is worse is their service attitude... 🤮 Totally SCREWED UP attitude! Asked for a small little bowl, got rejected in a rude manner. Looking at the recent past review.. Looks like they are pretty consistent... Consistent in their screwed up rude attitude! STRONGLY DON'T RECOMMEND THIS STALL!!!

My personal fav is their stir fried thick keow teow and their fried chicken over their fish head. Despite we tapau, the food still tasted good.

Loved the XO fish soup unlike any in Singapore.. saw a few guys carry a few buckets of it to a car. Yes they allow orders by buckets obviously for parties. You order and eat shop where you can’t expect aircon restaurant service as some expect. The XO is distinct but not overwhelming if you have a sensitive palate like mine!

I hate going to places where you need to queue for long hours or very popular. The way I beat the systems is to go at time where there are least busy and you enjoy the quality of the food and maybe service. Been eating this for more than 20 years since this shop at Holland v.

Creamy fish soup with rice vermicelli, fish chunks and cabbage. The first time I tried this was more 20 years ago when they are still located at Holland, standard is quite inconsistent over the past years, but still one of the better one in this area. Location: Holland Village XO Fish Head Bee Hoon (Dover), 19A Dover Cres, Singapore 131019
