Looking for a pre-show drink with friends at the Star Theatre? Then I strongly advise against choosing Picotin Brewhaus - Rochester. I made the same mistake twice, and it turned into a nightmarish déjà vu. The F&B system, if it even exists, is shockingly mismanaged. The service, bar, and kitchen staff seem unable to fulfill orders in a timely manner—both occasions were a disaster. On September 12, 2023, and again last night (January 17, 2024), we arrived at 6:30pm for an 8pm show. Instead of catching up as a group, we spent an hour and 15 minutes wondering if our drinks and simple food would ever arrive. We even had to cancel orders just to pay the bill and make it to the Star Theatre on time. This was at 7:45pm. Last night, the Picotin team seemed oblivious to the fact that an international show was happening. Regular service and staff numbers were expected to suffice. Imagine waiting for one can of Coke, one pint, one ginger ale, and a pizza for 1 hour and 15 minutes, while some drinks arrived and others didn't. Unbelievably disappointing. The entire team appeared ill-prepared and stumped, like deer in headlights. I cannot express enough how disappointed I am that, for the second time, we couldn't simply enjoy a pre-show meal together. As the planner of our group outing, I feel guilty for laying out such a stressful evening for the nine of us. Never again will I trust this outlet ahead of any show at the Star Theatre. p.s. Total service charge? $18.80. Unreal!

Perfect alfresco bar. Away from the crowd, but yet a very lively and conducive environment for a night out work good friends. Food is great, beer is even better, service is best.

Love the seat beside the water feature and the chill ambience. Good choices of beer, and we chose the green peace. Spicy baked chicken is great and really spicy. Honey baby ribs had great cajun fries and stir fried greens. Recommend this nice underrated location to chill after work.

Very good environment. You have a choice of casual dining at the lower foyer or a more cosy upper level surrounded by greenery which I prefer. The staffs are attentive and obliging. Food and drinks are reasonable pubbing standards. Convenient location with ample parking at Rochester. Thumbs up 👍😊

Beer is cheap at $12++ per pint and 1for1 during happy hours! The normal selection of lagers, IPA, lagale (mix of lager and IPA), and wheat beers are decently smooth. Hulk (green beer) is very similar to the lager with a slightly sweeter taste. Cherry (red beer) looks like a very thirst quenching mug of Ribena, and it surely doesn’t taste like beer. More like some cherry flavored F&N soft drink with a tinge of alcohol? Even then, I couldn’t really taste the alcohol. Literally finished that pint in a couple of minutes because it just looked so thirst quenching, and I was really very thirsty. Then again, we do suspect that the drinks have been slightly watered down due to the 1for1. Now comes the food. Don’t be expecting to get very full from their meals. Pizzas are decent and what you should expect in size and quality from a normal restaurant. The Hawaiian pizza is somehow slightly more cheesy than usual though. When the carbonara came, I thought it was it in a some bowl but great disappointment came when I tried to scoop the cream onto the pasta only to find that the dish was served on a plate. This meant that whatever pasta I was looking at was all there was for the dish! When I thought the serving size couldn’t get smaller, the $12 aglio olio came and I was (and still am) short for words on the serving size. What was worse, was that $12 was just for a basic aglio olio and we added the $5 option for chicken, which meant we were looking at a $17 aglio olio. Ded. We had to order another pizza, which would mean 2 pizzas, 2 pastas, 1 truffle fries for one guy and two girls. That should speak a lot about the serving portion. Anyway, the truffle fries saved the day. Very strong presence of truffle in the fries.

Cosy quiet place with quite a few drinks choices. Food at certain timings have different % of discount. Ordered before 8pm so we had 20%. Ordered the beef ribs, crispy pork belly and lamb chops. Beef ribs are yummy and meaty, comes with BBQ sauce which is a little salty. Personally don't quite fancy the pork belly as it doesn't have a lot of meat, although it is indeed very crispy. The Sauerkraut and mashed potato sides were quite ordinary as well. Loved the lamb chops, though it is quite a small portion (3 small pieces). Had the spirulina beer which tasted like regular beer that was dyed green lol.

We organized our corporate event at picotin brewhaus (Rochester) during March 2023 and we are happy with their excellent service. Everything went smoothly from booking of venue till we are there on the actual day. The staff are polite, friendly and helpful. Our guests enjoyed the beers, food and ambience. Will definitely returned again if we are planning for another event. Thank you 😊

This is a cool bar / brew house. It has lots of seating, in different areas, so plenty of space for larger groups. They have a large selection of drinks - both things you can get anywhere and they brew their own beer. The green beer was excellent!

Brewhaus special beer called ‘Lagale’ is the most strong beer which should tried once. Its a combination of beer IPA and Lager beer which hits most

Not hot even though without aircon, windy restaurant. Food taste good. Beer tasting $28++ but I only like Green piece and beer ale.

Nice brewpub good beer and food. I had a wheat beer and Pepperoni pizza. Sat inside but there is lovely outside area with a small waterfall. Service was not very attentive but I was on no hurry. 52 including tip

I have ordered the pork ribs, the portion served is huge and generous. The mouthwatering pork ribs is savory. The house brew is good too. Was served the beer tasting, to try out before we order the beer we wanted. Beer was ordered before 730pm at happy hour rate.

Organised a networking night for 40 pax at Picotin. Nice and cool place. Large seating capacity, outside with a waterfall and an inside seating too. They brew their own beer. Nice food. Staff are friendly. Thanks to Jn and Simpson for their service. Not forgetting Turi. It is a great place! 👍

A perfect place for freshly brewed varieties of beer and pizzas. If you don't know where to go for nice beer and pizza, go here without thinking much!

There must be a reason it's empty during lunchtime while other restaurants nearby fully booked. We learned the lesson hard way. Ordered steak, two medium one medium rare. After 45 mins wait, came two well done plus one medium well. The photo shown was supposed to be the medium rare. The grade of the beef used is bad, the chef forgot to thaw the beef properly or may be the timer broken. Worst steak I had for a long time regardless of price and place.. The only reason I'm giving two stars instead of one: the waitress did agree to change for all of us, but we didn't have another 45 mins to spare..

Good place for happy hour beers on tap at around 10-12 a pint. They currently have an offer for $28 for 2 pints and a pasta. Food is ok, but they are definitely more known for their beer. They also play great music too, very nice to chill on a Sunday evening. The ambience is nice and it is not crowded on a sun evening. I like their stout, it has a nice chocolate tint to it.

Came with no expectations and this place surprised me! The lamb is really good for only $20. The rest of the dishes are priced at below $20. Good value for money. The place is also quite chill especially at night

We're so impressed with the high quality of food n the outstanding service from Simpson, tt we returned the very next night! Wd like to compliment the Chefs + Simpson n his team. We will definitely return n highly recommend to our friends.

It was a good place to have a pint of beer alfresco. I had a great time chitchatting as the area was a bit quiet. The only thing is that the distance from the bar to the area is quite far. Other than that, great service too and the price of the beer was reasonable.

I have been staying nearby for a month on business. This has been my go to spot for a great meal, great craft beer, and awesome people. The staff have all been friendly and attentive and I haven't eaten anything I didn't thoroughly enjoy! Highly recommended if you want a good meal, lighter bite and for sure a good craft beer!

Really good IPA. Food is tasty in a greasy comfort good sense. We had the loaded fries and white bait. Went so well with the draft. It was just a little hot and the high chairs aren't comfy.

Very cozy place to try local brews and Italian food. I tried their house brews like IPA, lagar, wheat ale. All of them were excellent crisp and fresh. The chicken burger has huge jucy chicken patty.

It was not so crowded. Good place to enjoy beer! Had 2 lager which is good as others and special cherry flavored beer and green hulk. Their food was.. just okay and better not to expect much coz it's beer place ♧

I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant! The service was top-notch, with attentive and friendly staff making me feel right at home. Plus, the beer here tastes amazing, adding a perfect touch to my meal. Highly recommended for a delightful dining experience! Not only does this restaurant excel in service and beer quality, but they also offer a fantastic "Beer O'Clock" deal. Starting at 3 pm, you can enjoy beers for just $3, and the price gradually increases by the hour, but it's still a great deal at $4 by 4 pm and $8 until 8 pm. It's the perfect place to unwind and enjoy some great brews without breaking the bank!

This is my second visit to the cafe and enjoyed both the view and the food, overall the food in general is good. Jean and the waitress are very friendly and accommodating to our comments.

After numerous visits to Picotin@ Rochester, I'm still very impressed not only by the food standards, but the excellent service given by the staff (so lacking in other restaurants these days!)... Of special mention is Jean, whose patience and undivided attention to her customers, is exceptional.
