Booked
and
stayed
in
Mandarin
Orchard
Singapore
during
the
month
of
November
whilst
hotel
was
undergoing
major
renovations.
Check
In:
0/5
(Would
give
it
a
negative
if
I
could)
Disappointing
check-in
system
where
staff
doesn't
seem
to
care,
as
seen
from
two
entire
rooms
filled
with
guest
waiting
and
waiting.
Hotel
states
check-in
time
at
2pm,
came
a
little
earlier
(checked
in
at
1:30pm)
as
I've
read
numerous
reviews
about
how
the
lobby
was
hard
to
find,
however
was
only
told
that
my
room
was
ready
at
around
3pm,
god
knows
how
long
others
have
waited.
Male
non-counter
staff
that
are
assisting
check-in
are
completely
unhelpful
as
when
questioned,
would
simply
tell
you
to
wait
(for
the
sms).
Journey
to
the
check-in
area
and
"lobby"
is
unsightly
for
a
5
star
hotel;
narrow
passages,
white
scaffolding
serving
as
passageways,
simply
ew.
Extreme
red
flag:
I
literally
have
never
seen
a
hotel
that
makes
their
guest(s)
wait
past
their
allocated
check-in
time,
much
less
the
majority
of
their
guests.
This
experience
have
left
such
a
bad
taste
in
my
mouth
that
as
someone
who
never
wrote
a
review;
I
specifically
wrote
one
to
talk
about
this
unpleasant
experience.
Pool:
1/5
The
swimming
pool
is
not
under
renovation,
however
the
area
around
it
is.
It
is
extremely
unpleasant
to
swim
while
works
are
being
carried
out
around
you;
feels
like
you're
swimming
in
a
construction
site
instead
of
a
hotel.
Location:
5/5
Located
in
the
heart
of
Orchard/Somerset,
numerous
food
and
shopping
options
are
available.
Extremely
good
location.
Room:
5/5
+
USB
plugs
were
offered
+
Managed
to
chrome-cast
the
TV
(ports
were
accessible)
-
Doesn't
seem
to
be
a
fridge/cooler.
Breakfast:
4/5
Breakfast
was
average
when
it
comes
to
hotel
breakfasts,
serving
your
standard
american/asian
delights.
Hotel
didn't
score
full
marks
as
the
ham
was
especially
tough
and
tasted
like
sand.
All
in
all,
nothing
much
to
shout
about.
Generally,
hotel
received
a
subpar
rating
primarily
due
to
the
absolute
horrendous
check-in
experience
expected
of
a
5
star
hotel.
It
is
sad
to
see
that
a
hotel
of
such
prestige
do
not
even
have
a
dedicated
entrance
(having
to
enter
through
a
mall,
really?)
nor
have
their
check-in
lobby
easily
accessed
(switching
of
lifts,
walking
through
passageways).
All
in
all,
Mandarin
Orchard
failed
to
make
a
good
first
impression,
which
I
believe
is
crucial
to
every
visitor
wanting
a
break
from
the
norm.
I
would
NOT
recommend
Mandarin
Orchard
Singapore
to
anyone
looking
for
a
luxury
vacation
expected
from
a
5
star
hotel
-
You
will
be
sorely
disappointed.
