Stayed in their Courtyard Suit Verdict: It's not a Five Star Hotel Quality. It is not worth the money. Pro: - Beautiful greenery walk to the rooms. - Nice cozy sky pool. - The only great service staff are the security guards and the shuttle bus driver Cons: - Understand that the hotel are supposed to capture the history behind it. However, it is just not well maintained. Everything is old and feel run down. - Our room was so extremely dusty that we could see webs at some area. - The bathroom is old and dirty. The yellow discolouration on the floor made it worst. - The pillow/cushion cover is stained and dirty. - Jacuzzi: Supposed to be the attraction of the courtyard suit. It was not working properly. The switch was not working. Feels like just a place filled with water to soaked. There were mould around the jacuzzi area. The sound coming out from the jacuzzi will keep you up the whole night. - Hotel reception staff were so unfriendly and not helpful. It was the most disappointing experience ever. For the same amount of money spent or even lesser, i am pretty sure we could find somewhere better. It is not worth it. Five Star Hotel? Definitely misleading.

Tired looking hotel with staff that aren’t the most helpful: we booked a room with a king bed - reception didn’t even have the decency to tell us they only had a twin room at check in. We had to find out only after getting to the room. In the room one of the lamps didn’t work. The bathtub also lacked running hot water One upside is the complimentary snacks t the mini fridge were fine. The rooftop pool had a broken tile and is tiny. The outdoor pool was unswept, dirty and full of leaves. The supposed coffee machine in the lobby is never switched on.

It all started even before we checked in. We wanted to make some arrangement so we emailed the hotel a few days prior to arrival. NO REPLY at all. Also tried calling the hotel many times. NO ANSWER. Upon arrival, had to queue at check in while waiting for the counter staff to do something. Didn't even greet with a smile or a simple hello or tell me to wait a moment. He basically just kept me waiting. After checking in, we were very shocked that the room that was given to us was not cleaned at all. Bed was in a mess. Toilet was dirty. So we called the manager and requested for another room. Went to the pool and saw a very dirty jacuzzi that was not maintained at all. Such an ugly sight. Made us think twice to enter the pool that was next to it. We also tried calling housekeeping/reception many times for some assistance from the room, NO ANSWER. Earlier we were also given the duty manager direct number also nobody answered. Room was also generally not so clean. Our shower wasn't really working well. Basically very bad customer service and MANAGEMENT. Truly a waste of money!!!!

My biggest regret was not reading the reviews before booking a 3 night stay at the hotel. What was meant to be a relaxing retreat quickly became a horrible mistake. This was by far the worst hotel experience ever. 1. When we arrived, 2 adults 1 child, to check in, all the service staff disappeared behind doors. No one helped us with luggages from the taxi nor to help open the doors. We had to wait till someone to show up at front desk to be checked in. 2. The whole hotel is very run down. Broken pieces of decking at both the adult and kids pool with nails showing. 3. Rotten Wood column panels at kids pool is an accident waiting to happen. 4. Dust in room and stained floor from metal bin in toilet. 5. Moss on walls and glass panels. 6. Glass cabinet in lobby, (proudly displaying the awards from many years ago), were joined by dust and dead flies. 7. Shutters Restaurant was dirty and run down. Floor had not been cleaned and visible stains on cushions. 8. Wooden pool deck chair broken and another accident waiting to happen. 9. It just feels like no one in this hotel is happy working there or takes pride in their work. The only saving grace was that I managed to get 2 nights refunded from the hotel front office assistant manager. The most basic expectation for a guest is cleanliness and safety. Both were at unacceptable standards. I would not even give them one star. I will certainly not come back.

This 5-star hotel has the potential to be exceptional, but it currently requires significant maintenance and renovation as it is clearly showing its age. While the initial impression of the room and pool may seem appealing from a distance, upon closer inspection, numerous flaws become apparent. Firstly, there were several issues with the room itself. The rain shower was not functioning, and the constant dripping sound from the leaking bathtub tap made it difficult to have a peaceful night's sleep. Additionally, the smart TV experienced frequent glitches and hang-ups, which was quite frustrating. Furthermore, the bathtub surface was not properly cleaned, and the non-functional room phone added to the inconveniences. Even the sliding door required multiple attempts to close properly, which was an unexpected hassle. The problems extended to the pool area as well. The pool surface was noticeably dirty and littered with debris, which detracted from the overall ambiance and enjoyment. Considering the premium price we paid for the couple suite and the hotel's 5-star label, our expectations were not met. We anticipated a level of luxury and perfection that was unfortunately lacking. It is clear that the hotel needs to invest in maintenance and renovations to bring it up to the standard one would expect from a 5-star establishment.

Thank you John and Jayson who manage to arrange an indoor seat for my family last minute due to my booking discrepancy earlier. Servicing staffs were efficient, good and friendly. Giving all a huge thumbs up! Hope to see the new revamp restaurant in June 2024 if I do visit Shutters, and may the spread be better than this season. Happy New Year to the team of Shutters. :) Thank you!

We recently stayed at Amara Sanctuary Resort. The hotel compound was lush with greenery and retained the colonial facades very well. The check-in process was smooth as well and we received a buggy ride from the lobby to our room, which was a courtyard suite with private jacuzzi. While the location and service was great, we felt the room was not worth what we paid for (over SGD500/night). It was more akin to a normal room than a suite. There was also a dead spider in the bathroom and some small insect cocoons above our bed. While we understand insect sightings are to be expected in a forested area like this hotel, perhaps the spider and cocoons l could have been cleaned up before we checked in. We also noticed a blood stain on the mattress, hence highlighting a clear area of improvement for housekeeping. The courtyard jacuzzi looked relatively old and was not the cleanest, with some small black debris (soil?) in the water and ants crawling around the side walls, but again this could be understandable given the forested area which we were in. We appreciated how a mosquito coil was provided for us to fend off insects while taking a dip. The highlight of our stay was certainly the surprise visit by a beautiful peacock, which appeared at the ledge above our jacuzzi when we were using it! Perks of staying near nature. In conclusion, while we won’t pay premium for the jacuzzi or this room next time, we may consider visiting again to try their other rooms during discount season.

I hope no one else will fall victim to the fancy photos advertised like I did. The villa was infested with all sorts of pests that you won't expect. E.g. Flying cockroach, millipedes, wasps, ants, mosquitoes, lizards etc. My family was covered with mosquito bites, and now, recovering from scars. Our poor baby suffered from bacteria infection and was admitted into hospital. Base on doctor's diagnosis, the insect bites, that were still swollen after two weeks, were suspected to be the cause. The bites were received at Amara Sanctuary Resort Sentosa depite insect repellents in place. These issues were reported to Amara. They had revert that there is nothing they could do as they try to keep the environment as close to nature as possible.I was told that I can't expect a resort be as comfortable as hotels. The place was poorly maintained. Water leak from overhead. Duty manager not aware that lights were extracted and not installed back prior to rental. The villa compound was pitch dark. We need to use torchlight like we are at an adventure camp and depended on the tv-set for source of light. It was not possible to close the doors tight yet there were no locks installed. Cats were allowed to roam freely and invade the villa in the middle of the night. The place was uninhabitable. It is impossible to expect such standard of security and hygenie in Singapore. According to the staffs, I should have expected most of the uninvited guests(pests) from a resort setting. I am sharing my experience to all prospects of the resort in hope that no one has to go through the same nightmare as we did. I doubt anyone will expect such standard from any resorts in Singapore. Hope by sharing my experience, it will help you make an informed decision. Embrace these gorgeous settings only if you are prepared to compromise the well-being of your guests. The place do look perfectly good on photos but the sacrifice is huge. The whole customer experience was trumatising. - Honest Review for my experience in Oct 2017

Positives first: restaurant staff, and Abel, who helped us with our bags - very friendly and helpful. Great to be greeted with such warmth and friendliness. Downsides: Pools definitely need to be maintained better. Phones in the rooms were not working. Limited selection in terms of room service options. Morning shift attendant at the front desk could use a lesson or three on how to talk to guests. Do not talk to us as if we are idiots. We get that it’s early, so sorry to have made your day so difficult. We arrived early in the day and had many bags and when asked to help open the door - instead of helping even prop the door open, two members of staff just looked at us, looked away, and waltzed through the door of the lobby. Do better, Amara.

It was certainly an amazing hotel right after opening. But since that day, hardly enough investment or maintenance was done. Tiles coming off in the pool, leaving sharp edges, public toilets with yellow to brown bowls from urine and dirtier than in an MRT station, roof at pool cracked and dirty, mould on every single wall, every room and every public space. The carpets full of spots and stains, many light bulbs not functioning anymore, shower hoses leaking. Furniture scratched and overused. The decay is prominently visible in every corner you might look. Nobody is maintaining it either, nobody vacuums the public areas obviously, old leaves in every water arrangement, wall papers and paint coming off, carpets uneven from overuse and moisture. At the pool there are no towels, old F&B remains and nobody cleans up for days. Further to that there is no service anywhere. No way to get anything at the pool, not even the towels. This hotel has a fantastic location and as mentioned, it was once probably near to perfect as the architecture and concept still shows the love and the passion of the ones who erected it. But these days are long gone. I give this hotel maximum two more years to go bankrupt. The nightly price is even if you strike a deal, at least 50 to 80% too high. Even if you consider that the location is fabulous. Stay away, this hotel will disappoint you.

I stayed in a courtyard suite with a jacuzzi. I am an emigrated Singaporean (not that it should matter). The room was lovely the location felt like it was peaceful and out of the buzz of Singapore. The service was dismal. I ordered room service the first time was around $100 worth of food which was so not worth it or value for money. I completed payment successfully. Few hours later I ordered some dessert amounting to $40. The room service guy brought us the bill and a card machine similar to the first round. Due to the location of our suite the machine could not obtain connection to the main server. We tried many cards and I even offered cash. The housekeeping staff told us he would bring back a different machine and told us to wait. Less than 5 minutes later I received a NASTY phone call shouting at me over the phone demanding me to bring my credit card down to the lobby. I was shocked and I explained very calmly I was not trying to have food without paying it was the machine error I told him he can bring another machine and I will pay immediately for sure. He continued shouting that I didn't leave a deposit (I was told I didn't have to as I was only staying for a night) and that I had to pay ASAP. I felt like I received third rate treatment - and if this hotel can't even treat returning Singaporeans right I wouldn't expect anything towards tourists. I payed almost $500 for the room - but yet they insinuated I didn't want to pay $40? I was so upset my hubby returned a call angrily and demanded to speak to his manager (he was also shouting at my hubby initially). And guess what.. he was the manager! If such a hotel is unable to even deliver basic service standards they should hire managers with actual competencies or close down. There is no point coming to a nice room while being treated like dirt. Do not stay unless you are only looking at a place to sleep.

Checked in on 16 March 2022 and waited for an hour for them to get the room ready. When finally we were told it’s ready, we entered the room seeing 3 staffs trying to fix the tap. As we were tired, we just entered and waited for them to complete their work. Makes me feel that the room is probably not cleaned thoroughly. With the staffs walking in my room with their shoes on and touching the sink before they leave. My wife had to sanitize and wipe down. The place really looks run down and not properly maintained. It’s not a 5 star, feels like a 3 star. The first time I don’t feel like staying through for staycation. Feels like checking out faster and regret booking for 2 nights. My kids look forward to the pools but I am quite afraid to bring them after reading the reviews from others.

I am not sure if it is because we were the last one to check in, but we were given the last room of the floor. The view was definitely not fantastic. That is not my main complaint. The floor at the entry way was spotted with stains. The furniture in the room seemed to be put together without much consideration. Between our beds there was no bedside table so we have to place our phones on our beds when we want to charge them. The should-be bedside table was on the side, apparently the design did not match the powerpoint hence was placed away from the bed. The drawer of the table is also crooked, for 4 star hotel it's a joke on aesthetic. The table lamp is two pin and unplugged from the power point. The rain shower was obvious not serviced for a while as the water spurts from the edge. The washing basin was cracked. You cannot blow dry your hair while someone is using the bathroom because the hairdryer is attached to the wall in the bathroom. The TV would occasionally go black with only audio. Bed was uncomfortable and we did not have a good rest. The service staff do not seemed to be seasoned hospitality staff and looked like interns. There was no offer of transport service schedule to other parts of Sentosa. Was it because we were only there for one night? Regrettably this lousy experience costs me $400 SGD. I am utterly disappointed and disgusted. [UPDATE AFTER PROPERTY'S RESPONSE] I do not think the reason on the property being old justifies the excuse of its shoddy room and service. If you notice, the room is bare of any decorations, which makes it look like a storeroom than a hotel room. Does anyone feel that my experience is worth the price tag of $400 dollars? Definitely no. It was my first stay at Amara, and i chose the property because I want to see if it is worth the reviews I heard. I strongly recommend that if you are keen to stay on Sentosa, look for the other many newer properties.

Definitely the staycation which I am looking forward to have amidst the pandemic chaos. We were there with our friends (double date) and stayed in room 302 & 303 (deluxe room) for a 2D1N package with klook with the late checkout of 4pm the next day. I have to say Amara is a really wonderful place if you’re looking for somewhere to rewind from the hustle and bustle in the city. We were fortunate enough to utilise most of the facilities, on top of having the complimentary breakfast (although the menu options were limited). The food at Shutters might be seem typical on their menu, but it doesn’t affect my opinion and review as we really enjoyed our stay here with the peaceful atmosphere which made it seem as if we were in a resort at Bali. Thankfully, our rooms are functioning quite well & has everything intact, maybe we are just lucky after all. For those who are looking to come to Amara Sentosa, please do & always come with an open mind. You will surely enjoy your time & make your money worth!

Rooms are spacious and clean. The only setback is that facilities are not centralised but spread over a few blocks. If one enjoy rustic and nature, you will enjoy the greenery, the herb garden and the walks within the resort ground. I do agree that service is lacking there wasn’t a single staff around when I checked in close to 5. There wasn’t a bell to ring for attention or anything. Just have to wait patiently until finally one staff arrived to help with check in. Another staff came by to talk to him, even when she saw him serving us, we seemed invisible to her. She just continued talking to him as he worked without acknowledging our presence with a smile. This shouldn’t be the case for a 5-star hotel. I had emailed hotel to inform them that this is a surprise stay to celebrate my husband’s birthday. They did serve us a complimentary cake however, unlike other hotels, there wasn’t even a happy birthday tag or card or message on the plate itself which we normally will get from any other hotels. Even when it is served to the room, the staff did not wish my husband happy birthday. Only stated as a matter of fact: This is the birthday gift. Pass it and then left. This hotel also offered complimentary mini-bar though not impressive. I really think this hotel really needs to train their staff to be hospitable, friendly and welcoming. Overall, still a pleasant stay.

I guess I had high expectations from this hotel. First of all, the lobby is really nice and staffs are friendly, helpful and welcoming. Disappointment comes from the room. It's decent clean and spacious. But there were limited towels, they don't provide and face towels and No bath robes as well. Amara sanctuary, you can really do better than this.

Our experience at Amara Sanctuary Resort from 26th June to 30th June was nothing short of horrifying. We were left disappointed and unsatisfied with several aspects of our stay, which did not match the standard expected from a supposedly 5-star luxury hotel in Sentosa. Firstly, the breakfast provided during our stay was mundane and lacking variety. The lineup mainly consisted of processed and frozen food items, and to our dismay, the offerings remained unchanged over the course of three days. Paying $200 for such a monotonous breakfast experience was disheartening. The service at the resort was equally disappointing. We encountered several instances of inexperienced staff barging into our room, despite us still being inside. Their lack of awareness about "room service" was concerning and uncomfortable for us as guests. Furthermore, we were misled about the complimentary bus services, which resulted in us missing the bus multiple times due to incorrect information about the timings. This not only wasted our time but also affected our plans during the stay. The staff's slow response and lack of essential service awareness added to our dissatisfaction. There were no porters or doormen to welcome guests or assist with their luggage, creating a poor first impression upon arrival. The condition of the facilities and our room was disappointing. Everything seemed worn down and outdated, giving off the impression that the resort was more concerned about maximizing revenue than providing a comfortable and luxurious experience for its guests. We brought our concerns to the front office manager, who showed a disheartening lack of empathy and understanding. Instead of addressing our issues, they offered a complimentary upgrade to a balcony room, which didn't solve the underlying problems we faced. Additionally, their rejection of our request for a late checkout further highlighted their disregard for our experience. As industry-related individuals, we expected a higher level of service, especially from a reputed 5-star resort. Unfortunately, Amara Sanctuary Resort fell far short of our expectations, leaving us deeply disappointed with our stay. Overall, we cannot recommend this resort to others until significant improvements are made in terms of service, facilities, and overall guest experience. We hope that management takes these criticisms constructively and works towards providing a more enjoyable and luxurious stay for future guests.

The breakfast taste quite good. Location close to shuttle bus stop. Staff is nice and carriable. However, the facilities in resort is very old without proper maintenance. I can see that the lobby floor is dirty and the walls are a lot of black markings. For resort room, my toilet is super old liked 20years ago. Showering area is old also. I can see the floor is dirty. The shower head is crack with some burr. Water flow is very slow. Also the balcony door cannot be locked. In general, I won't go this hotel again excepted they renovate it.

We arrived slightly early before the 3pm check in time and we were told to wait for 10 minutes as our Villa was not ready. We waited patiently till around 3:15pm but there was no update. Upon asking, they said we have to continue waiting as the Villa is still no ready yet. We paid way more than $1K and we did not expect such a bright start. As I am typing this we are still waiting.

It was a last minute booking for a night. The room is spacious and the view was amazing. Breakfast spread was adequate and service staff (2 ladies) on 29 Oct, were so helpful and attentive. Perhaps, the hotel require a few upgrades in the room (sockets were not charging properly) but overall it was okay. Upon check-out the host (Malay guy with specs) encourage us to do a review and we got a candle as a gift. Such a wonderful gesture! Thank you

My deluxe room was spacious, and I enjoyed the tub. 2 out of 4 of the pools were under maintenance. It felt like the sprawling grounds could be better utilised as a whole. A suggestion to have your Larkhill entrance better lit from the sloping driveway. Service was efficient but not friendly. When I arrived for check-in, the male staff was scolding his colleague in front of me. I will still give this place a try in the future as the room is comfortable, and it is a mere 500m from the Imbiah station.

Our family vacation at Amara Sanctuary Resort was truly fantastic! The comfortable rooms and exceptional value were definite highlights, and the spaciousness of the room added to our overall enjoyment. We even had the pleasure of two charming birds paying us a visit while we were swimming during our stay. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and highly recommended for family vacations or special occasions like birthdays.

Title: Disappointing Experience at Amara Sanctuary Resort Sentosa My family and I recently stayed at Amara Sanctuary Resort Sentosa, booking a 2-bedroom villa for what we had hoped would be a memorable celebration for my son's birthday. Unfortunately, our experience fell far short of our expectations, leaving us disappointed and frustrated. From the outset, our communication with the reservation team was lackluster. I had sent several emails inquiring about the possibility of an early check-in to accommodate the birthday celebration, but received no response. Arriving at the resort at 3 pm, we were dismayed to find that our villa was not ready due to a mix-up with our reservation, leaving us waiting for an extended period. Upon discovering the oversight, we mentioned that it was my son's birthday and inquired if they could do something special to mark the occasion. Regrettably, our request was brushed aside, and no effort was made to make his day memorable. Further disappointment ensued when we realized that the fridge in our villa was not functioning properly. We promptly informed the staff, expecting a swift resolution, but nothing was done to address the issue during our stay. As part of the birthday decorations, we had brought balloons for my son. To our surprise, when we asked if they could provide some tape to secure the balloons, we were informed that such services were not offered, leaving us to make do with whatever we had on hand. The condition of the villa's furniture also left much to be desired. We noticed signs of wear and tear, indicating that an upgrade would be beneficial. The final straw was during our checkout. We waited for an excruciatingly long hour for the buggy to arrive, despite having a newborn and a toddler with us, making the experience unnecessarily taxing and inconvenient. Overall, the quality of service and attention to detail at Amara Sanctuary Resort Sentosa did not match the premium price we paid for our stay. The lack of responsiveness from the reservation team, the mix-up with our booking, the disregard for my son's birthday celebration, the non-functional fridge, and the inconvenient checkout experience all contributed to our dissatisfaction. It is with a heavy heart that I write this review, as I had high hopes for a wonderful family celebration at the resort. However, I cannot, in good conscience, recommend Amara Sanctuary Resort Sentosa based on our experience. I sincerely hope that the management takes our feedback constructively and makes the necessary improvements to ensure a more pleasant and enjoyable stay for future guests.

Disappointing and dirty, not worth the price. The mini fridge was mouldy, and one of the shelves was filled with water, presumably from a drip within the fridge. We also found that the toothbrush holders had not been cleaned and there was a lot of dried residue down the bottom Most shockingly, we found that a peep-hole had been carefully scratched out from the frosting on the glass panel, which allows a person from the main room to be able to see into the shower. This hole had obviously been there for a while but it is most disappointing that not one of the hotel staff thought to report it or have it rectified. I have reached out to the customer service team regarding this but have not heard anything back.

Lovely Resort, although it definitely has some maintenance issues. No extra towels for outdoor spa. We enjoyed our stay and enjoyed the breakfast. Location was great.

I stayed in their villa, but was a disappointing one. First, there was left over towel and rope from the person who stayed in the villa previously. Secondly, when a staff was outside and couldn’t reach us by calling out for us, he came into the room with his card instead of giving us a phone call. Third, I understand I’m staying in a villa so there will be bugs and spiders around, which there was. The villa has an outdoor bathtub, which was dirty w leaves inside? For the price I paid, I honestly expect better services from Amara. Other hotels I’ve been to, not even a room as premium as this have lounge privileges and definitely better services.

It is an extremely beautiful place surrounded by nature. We are glad we had our solemnization and wedding dinner at Amara Sanctuary Resort Sentosa. The service is good and the glass pavilion is simply stunning. Tere who was in charge of our solemnization and wedding dinner was extremely helpful and everything ran smoothly with her planning. We sincerely appreciate it. We highly recommend it and definitely will visit again.

Honestly not worth for the price I pay:( rate does not come with breakfast, have to top up. For a 5 star hotel, service is only average, from booking, calling up the reservation team, cannot even answer my simple enquiries about my voucher and the room that I wanted to book. Asked for late check out cannot and when the customer service officer requested for my credit card,he said: "I am asking for credit card and not debit card." For your information,I passed him a credit card, I know the difference between a debit and credit card, can be more tactful and polite🙄 Even requesting for shower gel took so long. Better spend your money at other hotels in Sentosa, first time staying and won't come back again.

We hosted our school prom here in April 2023, and had a delightful experience! With the help of Senior Sales Manager, Mr. Jason Tan, we had a smooth and pleasant event. Compared to most buffets in Singapore, the food was great quality and the staff were attentive and friendly. The location was also great. Interior of the grand ballroom was spacious and well-decorated. Overall, Amara Sanctuary is definitely a great place to host events!

The staff are courteous and accomodating. We requested for a quiet, high floor and non-smoking room and the staff made it a reality. We were very impressed by the quality and selection of the hotel breakfast, so much so that we actually woke up early to have our meal there. This says a lot as we usually skip hotel breakfasts. The scenery and the room is aesthetically pleasing and comfortable, though the hygiene of the bathroom can be improved as there were many small flying insects in the shower. TV wasn't working fine as the screen turned black every now and then. It's a minor issue to me. Overall, a relaxing and enjoyable stay!

ambience is really quite, greenery, very resort feel! it's quite quiet and peaceful but wouldn't really recommend because their service are not really very good, food is okay only. only thing great is that it is pet friendly so I could bring my dog around. but abit disappointed because my husband and I booked for our honeymoon after our wedding but there wasn't anything complimentary or even allowed us to check in an hour earlier.

  • 2/5 lee s. 2 years ago on Google
My husband brought me here, with my pet for a 2 days 1 night stay. Although service was great throughout the stay, I would say that the stay itself was not as expected, as the furnishings were all very run down. Like many reviews given of the hotel, the room we stayed in was dusty where you could see cobwebs on the lights, sanitary fittings with stains or cracks, mirrors and door handles has all turned rusty. Apart from this, my husband also paid a premium (around S$300) for my pet to stay with us. We were given a food box which had toys, treats, food and 1 large pee pad for my pet. However, it was disappointing to find that there was no mosquito repellents offered for pets even though they did offer this to other guests. It seemed apparent that the hotel was shaping itself to be a pet friendly place but yet, not well thought out with the concerns of pets owners in mind. Overall, the stay was not too bad. But for the price paid for a hotel stay of this condition, I would not return. The upgrading works of the hotel has been very much overdue.

Instead of writing long stories let me give you what to improve on. 1) Wipe the walls of the room, it has dust when the bedroom lights shines on it 2) the bathroom fittings are rusty and old. 3) you need a better vacuum cleaner to make the cleaners clean more efficiently. The carpets in the room is dirty and still has dirt even after we called for room service. 4) I expected to pay for my in room dining when I checked out but settlement was on the spot. 5) Shutters the restaurant, the ceiling looks old and dirty. Pls do smt about it. 6) the kids pool has full of mosquitos. No one is there, if it's not utilized might as well convert to smt else. 7) pillow case has holes 8) the TV has channels that cannot be displayed or aired. 9) ceiling lights have very visible dust My wife and I got engaged here in thanying restaurant, and Amara has special memories. It's sad to see it so poorly maintained. Hope the management do something about it. The staff are friendly and helpful.

I seriously have no idea why some people are giving this place a 1 star. Had a staycation with my wife here for a 4D3N stay in the couple's suite and it was wonderful. From the service to the rooms, everything was just top notch.

Sigh...... Am very disappointed with the service. Wanna share with the experience I had. I feel the ac was not cool at all when I checked in to the room. Making requests for technician to check on the ac twice. Nothing is done. The front line reception is alright

It was absolutely magical - staff were wonderful and so accommodating and welcoming! It's just the most gorgeous oasis - you really feel completely transported. We got to stay at the courtyard suite which was incredibly spacious and it was really nice to have a little terrace with a private jacuzzi. One of the most gorgeous sky pools too but it's important to book your time as spaces are limited. Really looking forward to coming back when all the facilities are open! Also they welcome pets but you have to book directly with the hotel as there are specific rooms for cats and dogs - you can't bring the pet if you've booked through somewhere else. Really such a wonderful stay for our wedding anniversary - having not been able to travel for so long - this was the only hotel that really felt like we were somewhere else - a big thank you to the team!

The hotel was very clean and the service was friendly and helpful. We had a very peaceful and pleasant staycay for 4 days and 3 nights with a nice long pool at the backyard. The couple's room we stayed at was spacious and comfortable and endowed with a luxurious sunbed and bathtub. The room housekeeping was responsive and accomodated well to our timings. However, the housekeeping could be improved further by replacing our used wine glasses. A light fittings at the washup areas could also be more frequently maintained and secured if getting loose. Overall, the experience was memorable and look forward to come back. ;)

Loved it here! I didn’t do a lot of research beforehand, and booked solely on proximity to Universal Singapore. Our rooms were beautiful, and stunningly renovated army barracks from the 1890s.

It’s a good location and ambience for family trip. I did my wedding banquet and solemnisation here. They have very nice decoration and location for it as well! Their rooms and the surrounding are comfortable and calming as well with birds chipping in the early morning 😊

We had our Wedding Lunch at the Grand Ballroom, followed by a stay at the Villa and had nothing short of a 5 stars service. Jason Tan and Tere were our point of contacts, and we had such a great experience with them. They put in their very best since the point of enquiry, providing great advice and assisted with last minute changes. They took the extra mile to check in on us throughout the journey and we couldn’t be more thankful to have such an experienced team guide us through the journey. With Jason’s attentiveness to details and ops experience, we truly enjoyed our actual day without any worries, letting him run the show with our wedding coordinators. He was there by our side through every step (even removing confetti off us to get us picture perfect). Our guests enjoyed the food and gave compliments. Shuttle bus and valet parking were also provided which made commuting for our guests easier. The ballroom is great with high ceilings and is also pillar-less, reception and tea ceremony area was also private and spacious. Highly recommend Amara to couples looking for a beautiful location and experienced team 💯

Stayed at Amara previously in 2016 and returning for a short stay - it’s disappointing that service standards have dropped tremendously and the facilities are in great need of upgrading. Check in was probably one of the worst experiences in a hotel (let alone a 5 star one) - I was the only guest being attended to (ie it’s not a manpower crunch issue), and never got a “welcome”, “thank you”, or any polite words at all. Was not offered assistance with pram and large luggage despite being 8m pregnant. Also was not told about breakfast timing or even how to get to the rooms (just quietly handed the card key to me without any words). In the four or so times we had to enter / exit the hotel, no lobby staff were around to help open heavy doors despite our pram / toddler / large suitcase. The room itself has a tv that’s at least 10 years old with no working remote controller. The phone does not work and when I called the duty hotline with my mobile that was unanswered too. There were earthworms in our toilet and the toilet faucet was on the verge of coming out as the silicon had completely disintegrated. The breakfast staff tried their best to make us happy with excellent service but that’s pretty much the only silver lining.

Booked this hotel through Expedia for 1 night (17Oct), for myself and my 11yo daughter. It was primarily a trip to the Sentosa Resort, so a simple room to rest at the end of the day was what we needed. We arrived earlier in the morning, and the front desk staff was kind enough to allow us to drop our cabin bag in a room that was ready, though we were hoping to leave it with the concierge. Location wise, it was a relatively short but uphill walk to the property from the train station. Not great if you're lugging more than 1 bag. The room was a standard room, cleanliness was acceptable. Everything was working. Our miserable stay started in the evening when we returned after a whole day at the Resort. It was a very hot day and we hoped to get a dip in the pool. There were 2 on their site. One on the rooftop, but not covered. It wasn't ideal for us as it was really hot outside. There were no staff around, nobody coordinating towels or refreshments. There was a phone nearby, and I was told later on that it could be used to order;but there were no sign stating this. We went to the 2nd pool on the ground level, nestled in some greenery. Nice place, but the pool was quite dirty with a lot of natural leaves falling off the trees around it, sand, stones and some black grainy stuff at the bottom of the pool. There were no staff there either to coordinate anything or cleaning up the dried and scattered leaves/twigs, etc. There was one basket with rubbish in it, and nowhere to put used towels. We went to the only restaurant they had, Shutters. Entered around 6.45pm and there was one large family of 7 and another table with 2 people, plus one staff dining as well. We ordered a simple fried noodle and vegetarian pasta. We were tired from the full day itinerary and just wanted to have a simple meal and rest. The family of 7 were being served in order, the other table of two left shortly, so did the dining staff, we were still not served. A couple came in AFTER us, eventually they were served with a full meal by the looks of it, but we were still waiting. The waitress who kept apologising and telling us to wait wasn't really helping because of what was unfolding around us. At that point I just felt insulted and discriminated against. My daughter was hungry, and we were too tired to leave and walk down looking for restaurants in other hotels. We waited for 1 hour and 7 mins before we were served with a real lousy version of vegetarian linguini and a 'Mee Goreng'. We ate ¼ of what was served to us, and the kitchen tried to give us complimentary cut fruit , which I was too disappointed and upset to accept. Finally they had the audacity to bill us for what I deemed as atrocious! Even though I had chosen to pay extra for breakfast the following day, I cancelled it at the reception before heading back to our room. An hour later I found an envelope slot under my room door apologising and stating that dinner order usually takes 45 mins to be served! The next day during our checkout, the restaurant manager explained that they were very short of staff and that he will check how the service went south. I suggested he started by viewing the cctv that'll show their critical lapse in service and how nothing justifies the disgusting way we were handled. My daughter enjoyed the sighting of a lone peacock on this property, and while their landscape was well maintained I can't say the same for their restaurant and pool.

Love the rustic resort surrounded by greenery and old war building. Hotel room a bit run down and old but ok for a short stay and to explore around Sentosa Island. Did not try the hotel food as its seems expensive with limited spread.

The guest services manager, Mr Liew(sp?) was impeccable. I heard he might be new to the establishment, but he definitely was a great personification of the calm and serene vibes that reflected the nature of Amara’s surroundings. Lunch at Shutters was also quite enjoyable, where we had the rib-eye and laksa. Despite some other reviews negative impressions, I have tasted the fare here twice and left pleased with the taste, presentation and (fillingness!) of the food. The rooms are spacious with great charming vibes but somewhat aged. There were plenty of bugs available to practise swatting. It would do well with a renovation. Pool area was decent, but plenty of mosquitos. A lot of leaves and twigs - spotted a caterpillar or two around the pool. Could also do with a refresh or regular cleanup perhaps.

Went for a viewing of the wedding venue in Feb 2023 and immediately booked it. Held our wedding here on 15 Oct 2023, we did our solemnization at the Glass Pavilion, and it is a beautiful place! We then proceeded to the Grand Ballroom for the dinner, which was very spacious, and the food was good. Special mentions to Jason Tan, Tere Wong, and Jason Ang. The team at Amara Sanctuary did a very good job and made our special day very enjoyable!

We usually booked into the 5-star Rasa Sentosa for our family's staycation in advance during our yearend school vacation in the past. During the extended Pandemic this year, we could only settle for the less by checking into the Amara Sanctuary Resort for a 3-day-2nite package for $3,000... We could only find solace in the well-preserved prewar greeneries within the vast close to 10 acres forested landscaped gardens along with the pre-war structures housing the colonial military officers with fond memories of the past, as our deluxe rooms are crying for proper repairs and housekeeping unbecoming of any 5-star hotels due to the manpower shortage during the extended onslaught of the Covid-19 Pandemic. F&B wise, we could only count on the Casino restaurants for consolations too...If without Its beautiful and friendly peacock to cheer our grand kids up during our farewell garden walks, we couldn't but feel a little waylaid in the highway so to speak from the bottom of our hearts, young and old....

hotel was decent, front desk staff was nice, check in was relatively smooth. left an expensive portable speaker in the room, only noticed it was missing a day after check out. called the hotel to see if they have anything in lost & found, they denied. hotel staff kept denying without even offering to check again and give me a call back. ( I know exactly where I left my speaker) also, have a lot of patience if you're trying to get through to them over the phone. most of the time they won't pick up.

We took the paw package and stayed at the courtyard suite for 3 days. The room was really beautiful, quiet and private. Room was very neat and acceptably clean.. You will experience some ants and mosquitoes visiting you but we're very close to nature so you can't help it. The package specially curated for my pet was just excellent. A perfect place for a very private getaway. There's honestly nothing much to do around the area so if you're in to just chill then this isn't too bad. Also, not much of available options for the breakfast but we had good lunch and dinner options!

Not a 5 star resort. Not at all. Spent close to 100 dollars for two nights. Would not recommend at all. Our room was clean when we first arrived. Moths on the walls. The hotel was not clean, or even safe. First night we were there there was broken glass on the poolside. Next morning it was still there. Didn't get cleared until the afternoon. The second pool has a big hole in the pool. No bar, if you want a drink you have to call the restaurant but they will ask you to come down. They will tell you it's draft tiger but charge you $11 for a small bottle. The second day our room wasn't cleaned until past 5pm and even then, no new towels and there was rubbish left on the floor. The TV doesn't work, only Singaporean channels. The staff were lovely but the hotel has clearly been closed for a long time and not ready to open. Do not stay here. If it was cheap then it's a great place but it's not. Its not a 5 star resort at all. I wish we could get our money back.

Fuss free check-in and aside from the long wait to get room keys (1.5h), it was worth the stay. Probably due to this COVID season, it is much darker at night (lights are at minimum around hotel grounds; we swam in their dream pool in the dark, a little bit creepy but it naturally makes you feel like you're out of the city). Food although some has mentioned that it is expensive, the portion is worth paying for and taste above average; it kept us full till the evening. Facilities and amenities could use some maintenance and upgrade but nothing major that'll disrupt the course of stay. Not sure about their disinfecting process in preparing the room for new check-in but it left quite a strong smell lingering when we checked in but it does disappear after a while.

Place : Very serene and it instills a calmness to the mind, you can hear the chirpiness of birds and sound of Peacock. And with so much of wind at night, it's breathtaking to see how the sea howling. And morning sunrise with a beach view is a thing everyone dies for.. Activities: There are plenty of activities as the resort well situated near the beach station of Sentosa. Unfortunately all activities are closed, so we went to the free ones ( beaches of course ) and fort silosa. And there are few exotic clubs and restaurants out there ( don't eat anything there, makes shell in your pocket). Amenities: The resort got all amenities from Sky pool to Bathtub. Restaurants inside the resort ( menu got less to none vegan option ) preferably getting food from outside is much cheaper. Though We had a very short time there, we thoroughly enjoyed the stay as it gave me some sort of feeling that I am away from my normal schedule and spending some quality time. Overall I feel this staycation refresh you, give some sense of relief from your constant chaotic routines

Terribly disappointing. Upkeep was so bad pool deck was breaking under foot. Waited 3 hours for 1 ice bucket… after taking 40 minutes to get through to room service. Used beer cans and empty wine bottles left near pool for the entire stay we had of 3 days. ( clearly no cleaning taking place) After sharing concern, brushed off due to low staffing. Will never be back and will never recommend.

Nice place but there is definitely room for improvement. 1) Room service : 100% satisfaction 2) Pool - the light in the pool is unserviceable. A roof could be added to the pool so when it's rainy day, people can still swim 3) the roof structure of the outside roof is leaking when it rains. Could expand the roof a lil more so all the drainage water goes into the drain 4) the wooden doors of the room and the back is worn off 5) room TV controller for both rooms is not working properly 6) juice ordered did not come but feedback was given at reception upon check out Do not mind paying the premium price but hope the management can stagger and renovate the area.

Poor in relation to this touted as a 5 star luxury hotel. Sinks are dirty and yellow and toilet is mouldy. It didn’t look like the housekeeping was doing a decent job to clean the room! Other than the toilets, floors were dusty and the bed had an old mosquito repellent sticker stuck on it (housekeeping didn’t even bother to remove !) I wouldn’t mind that much if I’m not paying a 5 star hotel rate, this is a total rip off.

We had the privilege of staying at the Larkhill Terrace couple suite. The room was comfortable and clean :) it was luxurious having a day bed and direct access to the pool. My only qualm was that the pool was a bit run down and the wood panels were splintering a bit. Other than that, a truly gorgeous accomodation.

Although there is some negative reviews, personally I feel that it's almost perfect. The skypool is great and the surrounding is peaceful and serene. There seems to be less human traffic around the area. My wife did complain the air conditioning gets louder at night (she is a light sleeper) but it's no biggie for me and my son. You even get to see some history as these are colonial houses and there is even a world war 2 era bomb shelter.

Beautiful place but upkeep wasn't great in my latest stay there. I suppose because of cost cutting measures due to Covid19. Breakfast wasn't that great either, Bread was soft, Sausage was oily and peppery, baked beans looked watery, baked breads were clearly mass made. Only the bacon tasted yummy.

Terrible & horrendous experience!!! I seriously cannot believe it that the condition of the room of a reputable hotel can be so lousy...!!!! It is a suite I booked for my sister and her hubby & it ended up they checked in at 3pm & gotta check out at 5pm in the same day. It was meant for her birthday staycation. Everything was disaster!! 1) Air Con in the room isn't working 2) mosquitoes in the room were extremely horrible, she got herself bitten on both legs and hands and her face too 3) the door cannot be closed properly and the repair guy took more than an hour and still trying to fix All the lines are ringing with no one answering. Worse ever hotel encounter!!! When I requested for a full refund, I was asked to contact a 3rd party to work on it myself. Spoken to the Manager in charge Jim, and nothing much seems to be done. And in the end, I was contacted by a Siti (standby manager). Never will I be back here again.

Room was dusty. There were toothpaste residue on the toilet basin table. We got 2 rooms on the first floor, horrible. Balcony was super dirty and moldy and had no chair so whats the point of having a balcony? There were so many mosquitoes in the room the entire time we were there. The phones were not even working the entire stay, so we were given a number to call using our own phone if we need anything. The tv was disappointing as it wasnt a smart tv and doesnt even allow screen mirroring. Really a bad stay.

One of the worst experiences in a high quality hotel. We checked into the jacuzzi courtyard suite for my fiance's birthday staycation. - one of the bathroom doors got jammed and couldn't close. - the floorboards were uneven and sunken in at some parts of the room. - the pillows smelled like cheese? Thankfully one of the spare pillows in the cupboard was fresh. - the tv stopped working the next morning. Screen turned black, though audio played. - also the tv is old and small. It's not a smart tv either, so we couldn't connect our laptop to it. - the room's phone wasn't working, and we didn't even know that we had to call a mobile phone number which was stuck on the keycard booklet, until we asked the front desk in person later. - and when we did call the mobile number, they didn't pick up twice. - the complimentary cake we were promised didn't arrive until we requested it from the front desk. - the service was okay, but it felt like the they weren't supper attentive. - the jacuzzi water was not very hot and there was no button to control the temperature either. We sat in it for a while but quickly left cause it didn't feel clean either. - the breakfast buffet was really bad. A lot of the food tasted like it was canned food, and whatever was cooked there tasted stale, though that might be because we came in late at 10am+ when the buffet ended at 11am. I guess one good thing is that the snacks provided in the room were complimentary, and they had a nice selection of healthy snacks like lotus seed puffs and dehydrated vegetables. Also, we had a buggy drive us to our room from the lobby, which is a nice touch because a walk in the hot sun would have been awful. But spending $700 for all this on a birthday staycay makes no sense. My friend booked a smaller room a few months ago and she said it wasn't bad. So it might be an issue with just the jacuzzi courtyard rooms which haven't been renovated for a long time.

Stay for a night here on the weekend. The room was quite big and was convenient to stay in to enjoy the beaches at Sentosa. However, think the hotel is in the midst of upgrading, and they need to severely consider the cleanliness of the rooms (in particular, the bathroom). I didn't want to take a photo but there were long strands and clumps of hair on the shower wall as well the drain cover in the bathtub, took ages to open and lucky I had a pair of scissors to open it. Bathroom mirror had watermarks on it (i.e. like the mirrors been wipe with water then dry up and left marks). I had also enquiry regarding the usage of the gym within the hotel premises which I asked the front desk reception, however, they weren't sure of the answer and I had to walk all the way to the gym and lucky there were staff there to answer my question. I even recommended my friends from overseas to stay at this hotel for their first visit to Singapore. Heard many good things of the resort but bit of a let down, even though I stayed for a night. Hopefully they could work out the cleanliness standards in particular for the bathroom.

Because three people were on Sentosa Island, and there was a limited time discount, so I rented this hotel, and later found that the evaluation was not very good. After three nights, it was mostly a cleanliness problem, nothing else, do not worry, it would be the exhaust air duct is not inside the shower cubicle (wrong design), which will create a lot of black mold and cleaning problems, it should keep the shower room door always open to solve the moisture problem, and the drain pipe of the wash hand basin is not smooth (I solved it myself later)

Pretty decent place to stay at and "cheap" compared to the other hotels in Sentosa. The drinks and snacks in the mini-bar are free so my inner Singaporean took everything I could, even the ice. The only issue we had is that the hotel is pretty outdated, hope they could renovate it soon

It has been twelve years since we stayed at this hotel. And while we didn't book the private chalet like we did last time, we were pleasantly surprised with how spacious and comfortable our room was. Two of the pools were closed, much to our children's dismay, but we took advantage of the other two swimming pools to enjoy. The staff were amazing at the breakfast was fantastic.

Had to plan an ROM ceremony and we met a sales manager name Tere. She was really helpful from the beginning to the end. She helped us to view our rooms on the weekends and also given us many advise on how we can plan the ceremony better. She also turned up on the event day and even gifted us a cake to congratulate! The event was a successful one and all the guest were happy with the buffet that was also provided by Amara Sanctuary. Kudos! 👍🏽

Definitely does not live up to its 5 star rating of a hotel. Not sure if it is due to the covid period and they have a shortage of cleaning staff, but the place felt extremely grungy and unhygienic. Room- Room was definitely not very clean - found peanut shells on the floor and overall very dusty with cobwebs. Bathroom accessories (e.g. toilet bowl button, toilet roll holder, sink) were either dirty/stained/ had algae/mould stains. Overall felt like the only thing they cleaned after each guest was change of bedsheets. Amenities- Pool was ok -the bathroom at the sky terrace pool was definitely not usable. It looked like it had not been cleaned for ages. Wanted to use it but couldn't bear to because it looked so dirty (brown stains all over toilet bowl and seat). Food was also only ok. It is like as though they gave up cleaning the entire resort and hope people will not use the amenities. Definitely do not recommend this hotel anymore. It used to be so well maintained. Exorbitant prices for very sub-par service and amenities.

Comfortable bed. Cozy. The pool was very cold. Bathtub was not what I expected honestly. They say two rooms but the beds were both different size - Queen and king size. The heater were not very consistent. Hot water was warm at first then turn cold after sometime.

Overall experience was okay. Was staying on 25-26 Dec. Can't say it is one of the best among the 5-star hotels but it is still comfortable except for the toilet which will result in a small puddle of water after bathing due to the design of the glass door. Hotel staff didnt know the operating hours of gym and I was told that he would call the room to inform me when the gym is opened. Did not receive any call in the end. Managed to go to the gym the next day and it was well equipped with free weights and machine. Pool is good with a good view of the sea and beach as well. If all the hotels on the island are fully booked, this hotel is not bad too lah.

Overall positive experience. Room was very clean and amenities were good quality. Convenient location to HarbourFront/ resorts world. Only issue is exit door from jacuzzi area had no lock so anyone could come in. But there was a lock to the door entering our room.

"Clean problems " This is the first time I stayed in a hotel and checked out very early, because the hotels I stayed in before all checked out at 12pm, but Amara checked out at 11am, and I felt like I had to leave as soon as I woke up. As soon as I entered the room, I found two dead insects on the sheet. Think about turning up the air conditioner and the insects won't come! So sleep well at night. The toilet felt that it was not cleaned. When I flipped up the toilet lid, I found a drop of yellow urine, which was a little uncomfortable. I didn't take any pictures. The room door lock, the equipment locked in the room is broken, but the inner lock at the bottom can be locked. However, the staff are very kind. The explanation is also very detailed.

Over all its a relaxing location, neat villa 1, but need a bit of improvement. 1. The hinged door towards the outdoor dining area is not working properly and the pool, I find it unsafe as it 1.4m depth but no steps to get up apart from a ledge to sit on for the water jet. I find it hard to get up, so definitely not user and child friendly. Older person can't enjoy the pool in the end as they can dip down but a struggle to get back up. The pool needs improvement for everyone's safety.

Unfortunately, my stay at this hotel was not like being in a sanctuary. I booked this room through Dayuse for 8 hours to use as a respite from the heat and for a luxurious break while traveling through Sentosa. I paid about $180 for my stay- for a whole night it is double to triple the cost. The cost for what I got was not worth it. When I arrived to my room I was very disappointed with what I found. The room was so poorly maintained. There were stains on the lampshades and the curtains. The wallpaper was peeling. Chips and dings were on the furniture and bathroom fixtures. Dust could be seen in the corners of the room and behind furniture. There were suspicious white stains on the couch where one would sit or lie down. I didn't even want to set my bags down on the couch because of that. The room showed extensive signs of wear and tear, as did the rest of the property. The room wasn't spotless as it should have been. There were a few strands of hair in the bathroom and one on the bed. Otherwise, the bed smelled and looked clean, and I hope it was 😬. As I took a stroll around the property , I felt unsettled and a bit sad because everything looked so drab and unkempt-except for the gym, but that area is being managed by an independent company that is co- sharing the property. I would assume COVID contributed to the disrepair, but it appears that maintenance of the whole property had been deferred even before the pandemic. This is too bad, because this property would be AMAZING if it was properly cared for. It has all the physical components of a luxury property, a great view, and nice grounds. It must have been beautiful when it was newly built. The food at the restaurant was fine and service there was good. Furthermore, there are no signs telling you where to go to your room, the restaurant, pool, or gym . When I checked in, the staff didn't direct me to where I needed to go either. You must be self-directed or ask for guidance upon checking in. I give this " luxury resort" a 0.5 star for having a bed I could nap in for a few hours and a tub to soak in, otherwise, I would give it a zero. I ended up leaving early, because the environment was not restful or beautiful... it was so negative to be in. Also, they shouldn't lie to people and call themselves a five star hotel or charge the prices that they do. I would expect this type of quality in a seedy motel. Hopefully whatever has caused this place to end up in the condition it's in will be resolved soon.

From the moment we entered the hotel lobby, we were impressed. The interior decor was luxurious yet warm and inviting. The family room that we booked was spacious and clean with comfortable double beds and linens. The room was overlooking which had a fabulous view. There is a kettle, a small fridge and a large TV which we loved. The bathroom was nicely decorated with unique tiles. They provided plush towels and top of the line toiletry sets which they would replace every day

We enjoyed our stay at the resort. The rooms are really spacious. The infinity pool has the best views and is a good spot for relaxing. The rooms definitely need an upgrade. The buffet menu was good and the staff at the hotel are really courteous and helpful. It was a pleasure meeting Mr. Yogeswaran.
