Although the staff were helpful, I would avoid this hotel if possible. When we arrived in the room (which was really quite small), there were many hairs on the bedsheet, flies in the toilet (which smelled like urine), and ants near the TV/kettle area. I would carefully check the pictures from visitors before booking and be prepared to do some cleaning. I asked the staff for extra sheets to cover the hair/dirt, and they were reasonably quick to respond. The swimming pool seemed in decent condition.

    1. Hotel staff are poorly trained on customer service. 2. Unprofessional and openly utterly rude. 3. Can't give a room even after booking was done. Told me to find another establishment which I did. And they didn't cancel my booking with them. 4. No details were asked. 5. Manger on duty had that same unprofessional unethical way of working. I would love to compliment (Value hotel nice) Staff there are excellent welcoming and warm.

it was an overall okay experience. it fulfills the basic needs of having a place to sleep and shower. the tv has an option to go on YouTube. the service at the receptionist was also not bad in terms of friendliness. and take note to get your own hand washing soap and comb as it was not provided. plus, the hotel has a strict policy of not allowing guests to bring in visitors from the outside. so, do find other hotels if you want to invite friends or family in etc. for special occasions.

The rooms are very basic and small just enough for a place to sleep. The amenities are pretty basic which justifies the price. They do not have a restaurant but offer complimentary breakfast buffet in which the dishes are bit average but doable. Scores high on location.

This is probably the worst hotel I have ever had the displeasure of staying in! Would give 0 stars if I could. The rooms and bed linen was dusty and dirty. The rooms were not cleaned, bedsheets, pillowcases and doona covers were not changed prior to our occupancy. I was unable to sleep due to itching all over from their dirty linen. I ended up with red rashes all over my neck, arms & legs!! Had to call their room service at 1am to have the sheets changed. The room service guy that came just knocked and entered the room without acknowledging me and looking unhappy that he had to come change the bedsheets, then proceeded to only change the bedsheet and not the doona cover or pillowcases & gave me a stare when i told him to change ALL the sheets & cases showing him the red rashes on my arms. He casually said.."Oh thats probably dustmites.." Really?! Is that what u tell someone who has paid for a clean hotel room?? The room & toilet were small, terribly dirty and dusty. There was water left in the kettle from I have no idea how long. I have attached photos of the condition of the items and drawers in the room. I should have taken of the bed & bathroom too. Room is not sound proofed and very noisy with people talking and moving about till 2 to 3am. Wasnt able to get decent sleep. They still dared to charge me $1550 for 2 of their incredibly small & extremely dirty rooms. They are also locking-in customers by getting you to pay in full when u check in where most other hotels only require a deposit until check out. They are probably well aware guests will look for elsewhere to stay a day or two later when they see the condition of the room allocated to them. We wanted to check out early due to how disgusted we were by their unclean, unhygienic rooms and asked for an early check out by they refused to reimburse our money. The chinese lady manager was rude & unhelpful, simply said we can check out early but wont be refunded. I called my bank and they confirmed the full amount was only on hold & not deducted yet, meaning the hotel could still make amends on the final bill and refund us but lied that they couldnt do anything! The staff at the counter also never smile and are very impolite. I will advise anyone looking for hotel to look elsewhere!! Save yourself from being bitten or attacked by dustmites. This place is absolutely filthy and I will NOT recommend anyone to stay here at any cost. Rude, lazy and unhelpful staff.

Room was clean and comfortable, surprised that tv had youtube, was able to watch movies. But staff (Aaron) was very rude and that's the biggest turn off that ruined the stay. Tried to talk nicely however after walking away I heard the two staff gossip. Terrible front counter service

The hotel reception (Mr. Ken) had insisted on obtaining the address of the guest despite already obtaining the identity of the person, contact number and payment. This is contravening the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) and the Hotel Licensing Act chap 27(1) attached below. And even to state that it was hotel policy, and he would decline to do the business, if this address was not given. This is utter rudeness! I declined, and left. 27.—(1)  Subject to paragraph (2), the licensee must require every guest seeking accommodation in the hotel to furnish the following particulars before the guest occupies a room in the hotel:(a)the full name and nationality of the guest;(b)the identification number assigned to any identity card, passport or other travel or personal identification document belonging to the guest. Address is clearly not stated.

The staff members who handle the front office, reservations and parking did a wonderful job for us. We appreciate their professionalism and hard work to provide us with an excellent experience. I am so appreciative that there exists a place that still values customer service throughout the hotel.

Horrible customer service, didnt state visitors not allowed. When we asked why and so, there was a malay lady who was extremely rude and used vulger language. We didnt even stay there the 2 nights we booked. We just left. The toilets were also extremely horrible and smelly. Not recommended at all.

Decent hotel with decent price. But the front desk can be a little more polite. The rooms are small. So if you are traveling with family with 2 or 3 big bags then think again. We put one Baggage in the bathroom. Otherwise its worth the money and price. Good nice shops around that area. Easily accessible thru bus stops.

Traveled with a family of 8, so the budget was one of the big considerations I had. After searching around, purposely avoiding Geylang area hotels which are cheaper, Value Thompson hotel is indeed value for money albeit they can do with some improvements. It'll be nice to have a bellboy service. When we arrived, we unloaded our heavy luggage in the lobby but could see anyone who could help us. We didn't ask the front desk but in the end, we loaded our heavy luggage into the carts to our rooms ourselves. Rooms for a budget value hotel is acceptable. There was some smell initially in our room on the first day but went away eventually. I think to score top points, the sleep quality offered to guests should be prioritized. The pillows could be of better quality for a start. Our hotel rate did not include breakfast. If you want, you can pay $12 per person to have breakfast next door which doubles as a pub at night. However, there are several kopitiams along Balestier road, so you have some choice for food. And for a budget value hotel to have a swimming pool is actually quite rare, so this was a plus point.

There were a few ants in the room near the fridge, then a few on the bed. The water in the shower room doesn't go into the hole easily. Water pressure was good and hot. For this price, having a mini fridge was good, as well as some free coffee and kettle things. But the few ants on the bed was really the thing which would make me never book here if i knew!

As the name suggests it's a budget hotel. Rooms are very small. Average service. They didn't change the bed cover every day. Breakfast wasn't included in our room. Our room didn't have any windows which felt a bit claustrophobic. But the location is convenient, close to Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital. They will call a taxi for you for airport dropoff if you ask them which is helpful.

This trip was booked quickly as visiting my brother who had some health issues so not really a holiday and wanted to keep costs down which is why we chose a value hotel. It was not a good choice..... Greeted by a doorman who helped us in with our bags, reception area was basic but seemed clean, staff were well dressed and polite. Then it went down hill. Our room was filthy, big blob of toothpaste on bathroom wall, hairs in drain, bathroom floor dirty and hairy as was the main room. Tops where tea tray and phone stood was really dusty and sticky. One drawer and small cupboard both dirty. Saving grace for us after travelling and being up for over 34 hours was the beds and towels were clean. Whilst we knew it was a value hotel that is no excuse for it being dirty. We told reception, they thanked us for letting them know but no real apology. It was cleaner after housekeeping had been in but tops still dusty. We weren't always out the room early for housekeeping, I asked for clean mugs after 2 days and was told I had to ring reception for them even though he had some on his trolley 😖 My brother used the hotel car park when he picked us up and the door from hotel to car park was locked so he had to walk down the ramp he'd driven up with no pedestrian path! Which is bad enough but he struggles to walk and uses a stick. He spoke to reception about doors being locked as they were fire escape doors. They explained they opened automatically when fire alarms go off which was fair enough but they couldn't explain how people with mobility issues would be able to use car park. All in all not a good exprience, it is a hotel we will not use again.

This is the worst hotel you can visit ever. I mean the staff at the reception no matter who they are they will be rude at you always. Room service is horrible. No room cleaning for 3 days. Water basin is choking since 2 days no one is ready to respond. Well most of the time we are out on tour so won’t say anything buttery. A strong recommendation to all travelers, never opt this hotel until you want to feel like paying money and taking insult in return

Stay was peaceful. No room service and no food available at the hotel. But we swiggy'd our food most of the time else walked to nearby restaurants. This place has gym and shared pool services. Best stay and affordable price at the last moment we found. I should mention this here was our daughter's first time pool experience in her lifetime. 😇 The check in desk people helped with booking cabs to reach out destination on time but I would suggest taking public transport when roaming in Singapore as the cabs can become expensive on your pockets.

Terrible experience staying for a night here. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND if you want a night of good rest. 1. Extremely horrible noise/ soundproofing. As if the walls were made of paper. We could hear the cleaning lady shouting in a video call for close to an hour while doing her duties in the afternoon. Random groups of guests/ staffs were constantly heard moving about and around; talking loudly throughout the night from the corridors. 2. Room was pretty small. Bathroom would be a tight fit for plus-sized people. The pillow given was thin, had to ask the front desk for another pillow for a slightly more decent sleep. (P/s: Extra pillow may help a tiny wee bit for noise cancelling service!) 3. Receptionists were probably too tired for a proper front desk service. Couldn't muster up a smile, and attitude was a borderline between curt and rude. The only possible positive note to end this was most probably that the location of the hotel was good. Kudos for choosing a convenient location to build the hotel! :)

The bathroom had a great shower, which you’ll need for sure, because the room I got was terribly dirty. It’s a pity that the hygiene at Value Thomson was disturbing, because the size of the room, the facilities at the property, and the staff are all quite nice. The guy at the entrance was friendly and welcoming. The reception staff were pleasant, mindful, and efficient. The view from my (second) room was nice. The gym and pool are great. The first room I checked into had horrible, smelly stale air and carpets. The intercom handset was filthy, so without unpacking I just went back to the reception and asked for a change of room. The staff was quick to oblige and I got another room, paying a few dollars more. But the problem in the second room, was that I found peanuts left over on the floor and behind the curtains from I don’t know when. There was dust and scraps of food on the floor. The curtains had fungus on them. There were some very suspicious stains on the walls next to the bed. And no one appeared to clean the room while I was there for 2 nights. I have photos of all this to back me up, so my recommendation to the staff and management is that you have a good property, that’s beautifully located. Please take care of the hygiene and housekeeping!! I was there for a short while and didn’t have the time or energy to complain about the room twice, so I just left quietly. Other guests won’t, as is obvious with other reviews here. I will not return to your hotel, but please ensure other guests don’t have the sad experience that I did.

Rooms are small and smelly and not soundproofed. I needed a budget hotel, which it definitely is, except on the price side! Paid £90 per night and it definitely is not worth it. But if you need to stay in Novena and have less than £90 to spend, there is not much choice in the area. I also don't get why the cleaning lady woke me up at 7am to hand me two bottles of water....

The first time I visited Singapore, I had a disappointing experience. The receptionist was not very communicative and did not provide any information. Additionally, the room was very small, and the bathroom was also cramped. There were no night lamps or tables near the bed, and the lack of a charger plug near the bed was inconvenient. Furthermore, the switch was located far away from the bed, making it inconvenient to reach. The access to the swimming pool is limited, but the visitors are coming for their vacation and want to use the pool at night. However, according to the hotel rules, access is not allowed after 6pm.

I even can’t think of a small room like that! No window. No ventilation. Bathroom smell keeps inside the room every time. Room for two costs around 130 Singapore Dollars, but they just give a space with a bed and a washroom. No soap given. No mini bar. No breakfast or in room dining options.. as well as the way they commenting a common reply for all the reviews, there service also not flexible. Can’t even think that I stayed in that cave for 3 days. Very stressful!

A simple no frills hotel with a small room just nice for couple to sleep if you are in Singapore. Reasonably priced and near the city center. Toilet is very small but room is clean and the shower is great.

  • 2/5 amna s. 3 months ago on Google • 4 reviews New
CONS- Be careful when you book a room here, there are rooms with no windows. The rooms are very small leaving no space for much. The toilet is very small and there is no partition from the shower area so the entire toilet will get wet. The bed sheets were not the cleanest so double check on this if you book here. Is not worth the price despite it being called value hotel. Pros- the staff are very helpful and are not rude. If you are not a fussy person, who just needs a place to stay for a night within this location, it should be alright after you check the bedsheets.

It was a great stay! I just had six days stay. The staff were so friendly and helpful specifically Mr DiDi and Mr Raj from the front office. They helped me out by giving me the same room when I decided to extend my stay. This actually saved me from having to pack and unpack and shifting rooms just for a night. That is really considerate. I would definitely stay here again! The only slight problem would be the fact that the room is slightly dusty. But you can always wipe it off with wet tissues 😉

I had a very pleasing time staying at Value Hotel Thomson during my trip to Singapore. The facility, staff and services are very good since my very first step in the hotel. My appreciation for the receptionist, HK and bellman who always works with a smile. They added up to the satisfaction of my trip. The hotel is a good choice for solo travellers, students, or those travelling with budget. Definitely come back to this hotel.

Value Hotel Thomson exceeded my expectations with its budget-friendly yet comfortable accommodations. The rooms were clean, well-maintained, and provided a cozy retreat after a day of exploring Singapore. The hotel's location, close to public transportation, made it convenient to navigate the city. The friendly staff and efficient service further contributed to a positive experience. For a wallet-friendly stay without compromising on comfort, Value Hotel Thomson is a solid choice.

The hotel is good, but the room is very small. the scenery available is the street. There's bar outside, the bar also the place we get breakfast in the morning. There's a small store across the street. It's a little bit far from everywhere. But the bus stop is around the corner.

Relatively new environment, helpful stuff. Clean rooms n bedsheets, water bottle, WiFi n TV available. I was given a no window small room with a all in one toilet. Should have a glass partition so toilet sit always dry. I guess lower quality room because I got a discount from booking.com. I would give a 4 star if the toilets were a little bigger n always dry.

Worse of the worse. Pls reconsider yourself and make sure you can wait in standing if your another half is arriving more than a hour. The only value is the price.

(Translated by Google) I was satisfied after staying for five days last year, so I stayed at the hotel for another five days in April this year. Water overflowed on the ground in the heavy rain room that day. Asked to change rooms, I was dissatisfied with the attitude of a friendly waiter at the front desk. There was no refrigerator in the room. He said that it was luck. Not every room has a refrigerator. Even if you change it, there may not be a refrigerator. So the hotel manager doesn't know what else is set up in the room in the hotel. By luck! For those who have never heard of this statement, there is no deduction for the fee standard. He gave me the feeling that the bad luck of the tenants is not related to the management of the hotel. You can't live in it. There is a kind of unspeakable discrimination. We foreigners can't afford to see any problems.

Booking through agoda mention there is carpark. We went there , parked our car. When to check in and mention abt carpark. Was told carpark is full and how did we get in. But the carpark was empty. It was mention that the carpark was taken by longstay customers? We have to ended up parking outside the hotel. Checked in , room was very small . Including the bathroom i booked for superior queen room btw. Water leaking and water flushing can be heard during the night randomly. First night , aircon was not working. Called the front desk and said it will be reset. Reset twice , but still not working. Front desk said will be sending a maintenance guy in during 3am ( we called at the timing ) waited till we fell asleep till 6 , got woke up by the heat called again and said they forgotten ? Aircon temperature cannot be changed btw. It was a very bad experience, would not be back again with that price.

Bed was clean. Smelled fresh. Room was also clean. My only complaint is the toilet. The water from showers even from 10 hours ago does not drain. So it just sits there in a puddle. I have had showers and toilet in the same room and it has never had water puddles like that. A bit noisy. You can hear everything but other than that. Location is convenient.

Good place for a single travelers. Rooms are bit small if you take a standard one. Deluxe will be compact for 2. No coffeeshop or restaurant but lot of eatery around this place.

Price is cheap but was given a very smelly (like clogged sewage) room on the 3rd floor. Had to ask for a room change. New room was better. But I woke up in the middle of the night because there was a bad smell. Luckily, the smell went away in about an hour. Wet bathroom. Thin walls. Unfriendly service at front desk.

Unfortunately the room was smaller than what shown on the platforms, and it was dusty. There was also water condenses at the ceiling below the aircon. The service staffs majority are friendly and helpful, but the overall experience is below average. If you don't mind walking, this place is quite convenience. There are also a few bus stops nearby. Note: in order to use to iron board and iron, you will need to walk pass the parking at level 2 to get it done, not very convenience.

The location is great. Service was good but room was too small for 3 people. Also they did not allow to change room after booking. They said no downgrades, only upgrades. No bidet in the bathroom :( and the single bed provided was a collapsible sofa bed. Room was dusty too.

The hotel is conveniently located near Novena Center. The rooms are small, cleanliness could be improved. Beds ok, not suitable for a long stay unless you have a steel back. windows cannot be opened. Reception very friendly and helpful, good tips on public transport. Breakfast in the bar next door is sufficient, selection okay. The pool is a pleasant refreshment. The value for money is justified.

A female staff here was absolute garbage and rude. Keep “suggesting” and repeating that we void our booking even after we say nobody is going to sneak in. After we checked in our room was infested with cockroaches :-) cancelled the rooms Never ever coming again :) There are other better places out there with way better service. Learn how to have manners first :)

We just checked in, an welcome is better in the Subway by the gas station. Something what should be first thing managed by receptionists who (3) of the had an energy like they are here for social service penalty. We have 2 nights here ahead and hopefully this can change and change Our opinion in above stars. We are room 0905. Cheers.

Service was pathetic. We did not receive any warm welcome here. Reception people were not at all friendly. The second worst experience is the room which we got. It is not well maintained and lots of cracks were there. The toilet shower was damaged and while using the wash basin, it is getting water logged. You will get better service in Ibis budget hotel than this. Complimentary breakfast had limited items. The swimming pool will be available from 8AM to 6PM. The bus stop is nearby. I will not recommend this hotel for stay.

Value for money as you pay for what you get. Location is alright for a short stay with some food places around. It is a 10-15 min walk to and from Novena MRT which will be a problem with rain or hot sun but alright in the morning and evenings. Temporarily having lots of construction in the area so visitors heading there need to navigate with some inconvenience.

Very bad experience, rooms was so small that they used wooden partition between rooms to save space. You can hear voices and television from adjoining rooms. The bathroom was so small that you cant take bath without touching toilet seat and washbasin. No window, No wardrobe, No chair, no standard size bed. Total size of room including bathroom is 112 square feet. I you want to rest please dont book this hotel

View to our room, amenities are quite good with the shower and functional TV, however there's no bidet or dipper. The space for 2 in room 542 was also very narrow, our two luggages can't even fit properly. Only good thing is the view and the bond we made during the event I guess. Lol😆

We had a pleasant stay in this hotel. Standard checkin time is 2pm but by paying 20SGD extra you get early checkin if rooms are available. They were kind enough to give us 7 hours early checkin considering kids were accompanying us. The hotel staff is friendly, it may be the man who opens the front door for guests or ppl in the reception. Room and toilet was clean, we got 11th floor and a nice view. Beds were comfortable, AC worked fine. We booked 1 twin bed 1 single bed room. Daily they used to refill coffee / tea sachets, water bottles, body lotions and shampoos. They didn't change the bed cover everyday, it would be helpful if they do especially when kids are staying in the room. I didn't like the breakfast arrangement which was outside hotel, No AC, not so clean table chairs, congested inside area where food was kept. Otherwise value hotel is a good option to stay

The ground floor only has one WC, so there may be a wait to use it at times. However, its location is convenient. The room size is small, but still adequate. In general, it is a decent place to stay in Singapore.

Rooms close to each other sound through each other. I heard loud noises from the room next door until 2-3am.. The sewer hold in the bathroom is far away that made bathroom's floor get wet And My friend's room, They didn't change bed sheet and didn't clean the room. But in the morning the staff changed the room for them. In the picture Triple room seems like have 1 Double bed and 1 single bed but in real there are 1 bouble bed and 1 sofa bed

If you are a light sleeper, forget about this hotel, walls around the room are made from gypsum board, you can literally hear everything from your room. Signs were put up around hotel lifts that says: 'QUIET TIME 10pm-7am, please respect other guest', but I guess most of the guests could not read english or they are just ignorant. Stayed for 3 sleepless nights, be aware that noises from outside your room (across the hall) starts from 10 pm to 1-2 am every night. Good luck ! Not coming back to this one!

We were there for 3 nights. As our experience shows, the rooms are small; even two people can’t walk freely inside the room, but the beds and other facilities were fine. The buffet was in the restaurant, which is located outside the hotel; also, the restaurant can’t accommodate much more people at once because of the small space. So we were in a queue for much too long to have our meal. This is the experience we had at the Value Hotel Thomson.

I stay here for two night. The room is small, and still have dash under the bed. I told the receptionist to help clean, but they just agree, and not clean at all. So, the second night, my room was not cleaned as I informed, and the worse thing is they didn’t even make up my entire room.

The room is too small, smelly, and dirty. I requested the room service to clean my room, but they didn't. The female receiptionist who looks like Chinese is too rude. But the bellman was so friendly and helpful(the only thing I love from this hotel). I swear that was the last time I stayed there. The worst experience ever.

Room small, service was minimal and not accommodating, bare essentials in the room, and don't expect staff to offer anything to impress you. A smile and a greeting is too much of a demand from a budget hotel. What was good though was the location, as U can catch many bus number going to different parts of Singapore... It is centrally located with good food nearby.

I stayed here with my family for 4 nights was on a vacation.. room are quite small of course in Singapore we get small rooms.. but there is no room service might be because of more labour cost.. you will get only 1 litre of water per day per room.. extra water extra payment.. overall location is good.. but service and rooms are very small fine for couples.. want bigger rooms need to pay more SGD..

Room : Small like really small but not so claustrophobic type of small, decent enough if your only planning to stay not so long. maybe a night or two. When came in , it had a weird stench, tho everything seemed fine. The kettle was still dusty and thats how you know once the room is done with housekeeping, they never came back to check on it for maintenance. Location: the best part is definitely the location, bus station is nearby, its inbetween toa payoh and novena so a lot of places nearby. Price : you get what you get. your paying for a hotel for yourself maybe with your significant other just for a night or two , not expect much because the price is too good to be true. Rm700 for two nights averagely 220SGD for a last minute hotel booking isnt so bad. Bathroom is alright. nothing too horrible thank god theres water thats about it.

Good location. But it seems like they dun allow friends to come over to your room, which is a bit nayy.... And I do not know why there's hell lots of Indians here. Not to be racist but pls dun block the road and be superb noisy at night. Part of the reason this is happening thanks to hotel management that didn't seems to take note on it too. Yet cared about my friends coming my place :/ The rest room is quite okish. Breakfast you have to pay 11 sgd extra for breakfast beside the hotel. It's okish I guess but yea there's better and cheaper option around if you wan.

As barebones as it can get. Rooms feel stuffy and have a moldy smell that won't go away, getting some kind of scent is recommended for long stays. Trust me it will do wonders since you can't get natural air in. Otherwise it's relatively clean with nothing major to complain about for a budget hotel. Though for the same price you can get hotels in Japan that feel 10x nicer but it is what it is. Shower water pressure and temperature control was very good.

This hotel is 5 km from the Singapore flyer observation wheel and 7 km from the Garden by Bay waterfront park. They provided free wifi, tea or coffee making and a TV with satellite channels. Some rooms have windows and you can see the city view. Room service is available. They also provided a rooftop pool view of the city. They also got Chinese restaurants, plus a gym and free parking.
