AVOID. The facilities are in bad condition and dirty. Also the information online is misleading - there are no private rooms. Upon mentioning the issues to the staff they got defensive and were not able to offer a solution. We decided to go to somewhere else.

Worst budget hostel, avoid at any cost. Booked for 5 nights for a 2-bed room but there is no door or curtain and practically sharing with other 8 people. Very noisy after 11-12pm even with the so called curfew. The bed is also dirty, I got skin rash on first night and decided to book another hostel after second night. The shower is very small and water keeps leaking. The stairway is very narrow, making it difficult to carry your luggage especially if you get the 3rd floor room. The only positive is location, right next to the MRT exit.

Stayed a night there but I genuinely felt it’s waste of money, in that there was no way to really sleep - the reason I paid for the bed. Unfortunately the type of people this facility (and I suspect many other in areas like that) attracts are workers who use the place as base and some had absolutely zero sense of awareness and consideration that other people might be wanting to sleep. Going in and out all night, talking loudly over the phone at 4am in their bed, watching movies with speakers on, running the alarm on for long time super early in the morning to name a few. And then you have a room of 12-16 people many of whom are snoring. So no, you won’t be sleeping really - the primary purpose of booking such a place. You will probably get better quality of sleep sitting in Marina Bay promenade area. None of these is hostels fault I guess, perhaps they could do some screening and have dedicated dorms for backpackers etc but I don’t see it being in their interest. I guess it is the function of the culture of Singapore being the kind of expensive place it is with huge migrant worker class and that a lot of these people can’t afford other housing because it’s far too expensive. It’s perhaps a dysfunctional sign of their society (affordability, inequality, cheap labor exploitation) at best.

Rooms are super small as well as the bathrooms. There is no common area. The location in the middle of China Town is great.

It’s clean. Bed is a bit shaky but i think it’s still ok. Near MRT station also, that’s a big deal to roam Singapore easily

I reserved a two bed room, but the doors were taken off. So you are with two other four bed rooms. It’s really a ten bed room. FYI

I have a business trip, I only go alone so I choose a simple hotel. Unexpectedly, this place is very suitable, the receptionist and the owner here are very friendly. They are very cheerful and friendly. And the accommodation is ok, very close to MRT, clean and discreet. 100%

Great location right on the China town food street! Loads to do and everything within walking distance! Would recommend this place as a budget place to stay in Singapore. We stayed for 2nights. The staff are super friendly and advise on the best places to eat and go. They can even post your postcard for you for S$1.50. The place is really nice and clean and spacious for Singapore but if you've never been it still feels a bit small. Large lockers are available (bring your own lock) and linen is included. They give you a breakfast coupon too which is worth S$2. There's only two showers and two toilets so be prepared to queue or get up early/late to miss the crowds. We were disappointed with the noise levels despite signs saying please be quiet. We had a 6am wake up on Monday morning due to hostel guests turning lights on, opening and closing lockers (loud) and generally having no consideration for others. But if you get a good bunch of people then your in for a treat!

Location is pretty strategic, located on the entrance of Chinatown MRT exit A. They have 2 buildings on the left and right of MRT entrance. But you won't have any trouble at all to look for it since the sign board is clearly seen from the MRT entrance. The reception area is on the left side building (more spacious and feels homey rather than the building I stayed). I stayed in the ladies only room (#4) on the right side building. So, if I need something or ask the staff, I have to go to the other building. The room, bed, linen are clean but they don't provide towel & toiletries. So you have to bring your own. And don't forget to bring padlock for your locker (big enough for 20-inches suitcase). Air conditioners in my room were working well and it's cooler because helped with 2 fans. The toilets are relatively smaller than the other building, but that's okay for me (hot water, tissue are provided). You can use the fridge, hair dryer, water, electric water jug, iron, outdoor patio together with other guests. The staffs are nice, friendly and helpful. Because it's Chinese New Year time, they even offer me home made yu sheng. Pretty nice flavor and experience. Overall, it was great experience staying in royal hostel.

Location wise excellent. But in terms of cleanness still far behind. Air circulation not good as there are total 24 ppl in a room. Breakfast in complimentary is suck, I would rather pay extra for a better one. Receptionist is polite but only performing his task assigned. I wouldn't consider to stay back with the price I paid as I know there are plenty of hostel provide a more spacable place than here.

Mostly cheapest price in the neibourhood!! What could you expect more? My time being here restroom was clean, staff was nice and helpful. My room was next to front window, you can see people wandering in just 2-3 meters distance. But it's noisy until 11pm every night. The staff will give you some cash voucher for breakfast at Old Nanyang coffee or Kopi express MRT exit. Both were cheap and yummy.

I would highly recommend this hotel despite the not so good smell bcoz it's a mixed gender dorm for 16 pax still It's strategically located in Chinatown, easy to find, near some spots and food is everywhere, the staff's are welcoming and accommodating. The rate is relatively cheap and comes with an on the go breakfast.

DO NOTE: no towels included - bring your own Royal Hostel is a great, fairly bare-bones hostel experience but it's priced exactly there. The bed, room, AC, bathrooms were all fine and serviceable. There isn't really a common gathering room though so there will definitely be less connecting with others, which you should note. However, for this price, definitely a great option for a bed to sleep in. The owner/manager is a nice & funny guy too!

Nice hostel and good location, can reach good cheap food around. Beds are comfy and all instructions are clear, self serve when you're here. Quite safe but better buy a lock in a supermarket nearby to lock your locker.

If you want to stay in a place where you can just leave your things worry-less, sleep peacefully after the day's adventure, take that comfy shower and kick start the day with a free full breakfast? Then be in Royal Hostel Singapore! The cheapest and comfortable stay in the place and it is in the heart of Chinatown!!!

Great and strategic location for a budget stay. It's on the main food street in Chinatown. Bathroom cleanliness could be improved. Very suitable for backpackers, maybe for a solo or a pack of two/three people.

The hostel is in a good location and is pretty cheap. That's it... It's not nice at all and there is basically no common space where to chat a bit. It's good for bagpackers but if you want to get anything more out of it better choose elsewhere
