I gave 1 star because I couldn't give less. The only good thing was one lady who was friendly and helpfull. The breakfast was poor but I wasn't expecting a feast for the money I payed. when we arrived at our bedroom a lady pointed to a bunk bed, clearly it had been used by someone, you could tell by the old sheets and told me that was my bunk bed. Of course I said I wouldn't sleep there and she gave us another bunker beds! But the attitude was just wrong and bad! She acted as if she was doing us a favour... The hostel dormitories are so filthy and old plus it has one dirty bathroom for about 20 people to use... Only 2 toilets and 2 showers for all this people. We weren't allowed to use our shoes, meaning we had to walk barefoot in that nasty floors. To get to our room we had to walk through the bathroom barefoot. There were some old and dirty slippers on the bathroom for all the people to use, since you aren't allowed to use your shoes in there.

The location is rather decent, a few minutes away from two metro stations. The rooms was crammed with 24 bunk beds but it was as described on the website I used to book. They have curtains dividing the room in different sections though, for that price in Singapore, you can't really expect more privacy. Lockers are provided and I could easily fit my backpack in them. The breakfast is simple, sliced bread with jam and peanut butter, tea or coffee, but then again, you get what you pay for.

This place doesn't deserve any stars. It's a disgustingly filthy place The area next to the bed where I slept had not been cleaned or swept.....(.not for days, or months but Years.) It's also infested with Bed bugs. People were leaving early in disgust. The foreign worker from the PH who was on duty on the morning of Monday the 15th October was possibly the rudest, most arrogant receptionist I have ever had the misfortune to encounter. In response to being told about the disgusting lack of cleanliness her reply was : " if you don't like it you can leave".

Bottom line- there will be better places for the money. My bunk bed sheet was dirty, I had to ask them to change. Why would you not change it knowing guests are coming is beyond me. Pros -they have slippers in bathroom. I saw other hostels not having any. - there's body wash Cons - AC is in centre so there might be fan in your sleeping room. If you are not used to sleeping under the fan, then it's not good for you. I wouldn't recommend top bunk bed. -No rooftop terrace as mentioned( it was locked) Nearest MRT is jln besar, which makes it easy to navigate. Breakfast consists Tea Coffee Bread with butter/ jam/ peanut butter/ chocolate spread Milo Check in time is 2 pm,so if your flight lands early, then this is not the place for you. Staffs I encountered were friendly. Bottom line, if I am in Singapore, will I stay here again? No, there are so many I would try others. Now, it's up to you to decide.

Usually, you get what you pay for. Yet in this case, I don't think the low price justified it. There was not even a curtain to separate the private areas from the corridors (it's usually a given, I've seen it at cheaper hostels). The shower room smelled of stale pee. There was no obvious signs that you should be quiet at the sleeping areas. AC was turned off at 8 AM, no big problem but could be a problem for someone not merely seeking for a cheap place to sleep in during the night. Only saving grace was how nice the staff was.

My home from away. Pleasant people. Affordable stay Just a couple of hundred meters to MRT station and the famous 24/7 hyper market Mutsafa center. Accurate timing so make sure you wake up for your breakfast. Had a good stay, all 3 times I've been here.

Great, recommended hostel with low budget. The host very kind, especially the night-shift. Almost perfect with kitchen, WiFi, clean bathroom. But pretty cold i think in the morning caused by the AC. Maybe if i go to Singapore again i would like to check in again.

Can recommend the hostel. I booked on the spot for 18 Sgd. one of the cheapest i found in Singapore. down side is the rooms are packed and they turn off the lights between 11 pm and 8 am. There is no way to put them back on and you have to walk with a torch. Plus is they also give you a basic breakfast. Singapore is quite pricey so thats definitely a plus.

It should be a crime for anyone to operate a hostel with bed bugs. If you wish to sleep at night with the sensation of tiny critters crawling all over your body, wake up in the morning with you thighs, lower back, and wrists completely mauled by rows of itchy/red bites, then New Society is the hostel for you! I honestly hated to write this review as the Filipino staff at the front desk are nice, the lounge area on the first floor is decent, and the metal bunk-bed frames are sturdy/quiet, but if you can't offer a bug-free bed, then I honestly can't recommend this hostel. On top of this, I switched beds twice (top and bottom bunk) just to make sure it wasn't a fluke...it wasn't. Can't wait to check out! Some of the truthful facts I saw from previous reviews: The mixed-dorm of 24 beds all share the same SMALL unisex bathroom, the lights get turned on/off by the staff at 11PM/8AM Some irrelevant pros: Convenient location relative to a DIY laundromat, a FairPrice supermarket, and Lavender MRT station. Honestly, the location is so irrelevant when there are 16 other hostels down this road and within the same price range that don't appear to have bed bug issues in their reviews!

The staff is very hospitable and accommodating. They even allow us to drink and play cards with our friends who stayed in a different hostel. The place is clean and comfy. The rooms for 20s was very clean coz you are not allowed to use your shoes and slippers inside the sleeping quarters. The common toilet and shower area is clean, and very spacious. They have a free breakfast - bread and spreads with coffee, tea, milo, and/or milk. The place's location is near Mustafa Center too (about 5-10mins walk, just 2-3 blocks away). There is a bus stop about 200m away. And the best part is, it's cheap for all these perks!;)

Cozy place to stay for those who travel with minimum budget. Thumbs up for the receptionist named Marie! She’s so kind 🙏 helps me a lot in directions and giving me the best route so I can get to 4 different places in only half day.

Nice place for people who wish to stay for longer durations. Service is a big problem here. They don't give sufficient drinking water. Morning break fast food is amazing and service is a big problem again.

Cheap but not much privacy, it's a trade off basically, bed and bathroom is clean and comfortable.

😠 First time in Singapore and the worst experience I’ve ever had in life. We didn’t like the beds and told the front desk we didn’t like it and we want our money back. They didn’t give our money back and we were kinda forced to stay just because our fees were not refundable. Very very congested. They...
