I would like to share my subpar experience with this gym. I have signed up mainly for the pilates classes and did a trial on 31 October. I was happy with the class and proceeded to sign up for a year long package. However, to my dismay, from November onwards, the pilates class format were changed to include pilates athletic classes. These pilates athletic classes are totally not what pilates is about - breath and control. Instead, the reformer is used as a machine to do various non-pilates movements on it such as jumping on the reformer bed; I tried one session and was amazed at how it can even be called pilates. As such, the number of classes that I could attend for pilates was diminished if I were to exclude these pilates athletic classes. This change in pilates class format was not highlighted to me by the consultant assigned to me and I felt it is not ethical as I had explicitly told him that I am only looking for pilates classes and was happy that I found a location that was very convenient for me. Furthermore, some of the pilates instructors are just really not so competent, unlike the instructor that I had my trial with (which was the reason why I signed up in the first place). Other issues I faced were the inability to claim my personal training session which was supposedly included in my membership. I have asked my consultant how to book a session and was informed to send an email. The response to the email was that I should walk into any gym to book the session. When I went to the gym, I asked but was told to book it with my consultant. In the end, I was not even able to book this session which is included in my membership. With all these issues, I have decided that it is no longer worth my time to continue on with this gym, and have paid the $500 to terminate my membership. I have asked for partial waiver given the above issues but was rejected. Hopefully people are aware about these issues before signing up for this gym, especially if you are looking for pilates classes like I am.

Do not sign up virgin active. It has been a completely nightmare for me. When I signed up, I have asked very clear if I could suspend membership due to medical reason, they said they just need a note from doctor. I contact Jessica Klopper for the matter 4 weeks back, she then again asked for a detail reason why I could not train and needed to be certified by a doctor. I declined to disclose such info as she has no rights to ask. She did not process the request but asked me to continue to train while there is no class suitable. My credit card was charged for another 2 weeks due to her neglect. At the same time, my request of suspension went out of the window due to I used the gym the week before ? How is this reasonable for the fact I was charged for a prorated rate for using the gym on that day. Again I am ready to give up the membership, I asked her Hao soon the termination can take place, she only replied I need to pay 200 dollars. My advice , avoid virgin at all cost or at least you are sure you are not dealing with a customer service like her, what ironic is she is supposed to be a manager and person in charge, that tells you what kind of customer services you are getting

As a former member of Virgin Active, I highly caution anyone from joining this unscrupulous gym. When I joined there was only the Raffles Place outlet but I was told that a Tanjong Pagar branch would be opening in about 3-6 months but ended up being about 9 months. The pool was supposed to be opened together with the gym but got a further 2-3 months delay. The front of house staff would continually lie about the openings and would always say that they would be open in the “next month” for many months on end. Joining their classes was also a hellish experience. Popular classes like hot yoga and vinyasa yoga for example, require you to register the same night or in the early hours of the next day to secure a spot. Then when you actually do, there is no organization and the members just lay their mats wherever they wish and if you don’t come early you wouldn’t even have a proper spot. Their billing system was also extremely buggy, with my charges often being incorrect or failing to be charged (in which case they call you multiple times a day) while I had no problems using my card elsewhere. Yet, that same diligence was never extended to when they increase your fees. They had never bothered to reach out to me to inform me that they would be increasing my dues after my contract was fulfilled (three times before I finally had enough and decided to leave). They claimed to have sent me an email each time (which probably ended up in my spam folder, where they rightfully belong anyway) when I had raised the issue to them, but not once did I see any of that diligence to actually contact me to ensure that I actually knew of the increases. Given, they might have all those fancy and fun facilities and features, but with how busy it always gets, you hardly would have the opportunity to enjoy it anyways. Off peak isn’t really an option either considering how short their operating hours each week are at most of their outlets. When they have so many members and so few clubs, you would think that they should keep their outlets open more right? Nope. All these issues combined with the little things like poor housekeeping, frequently damaged facilities, pathetic beverage offerings, unfriendly staff members, extremely uncomfortable workout shorts, worn out towels, etc, just sealed the deal for me to leave. To add insult to the injury, the welcome gifts I got were hideous pink low quality pleather duffle bag and shoe bag while soon after they started giving out sleek and handsome Under Armor ones instead. My whole experience with Virgin Active was one that left me feeling conned, harassed, and endlessly frustrated. Unless you want to feel that as well, I highly recommend you to search for other options.

The branch drags to resolve refund of fees charged when it was supposed to freeze my mom's membership as my mom was hospitalized during the period. The accounts person, a lady was always conveniently 'out' when I asked to see her during office hours and did not respond to my emails even though she gave me her email for following up on the issue. Little did i know it was just lip service! 6 months have passed and still not resolved!! I used to have high regard for Virgin, I am shocked at how bad this company is, very dishonest and bad business ethics!

The services were terrible! Sales don’t bother to return my call for the payment issue and PT trainer didn’t bother to confirm my PT schedule. Especially when they charged me without my acknowledgment, when I informed them there was no responses from anywhere even though I called the main line! Terrible! Truly disappointed by the services with such a brand! Follow up: the sales manager followed through and showed sincerity to understand the issue. Appreciated that! And I’m now assigned to another PT trainer and I’m given 1 complimentary PT class and some fee waivers. Lets see how’s the new PT trainer and whether virgin active keeps their promise. Another follow up: after I switched to another trainer, apparently the service is much better, at least the trainer(Alex) is very responsive. He put effort to understand my goal and training history, so far I enjoyed the training with him. On the other hand, sales manger kept his promises therefore I decided to give another try. I signed up for a yearly membership with PT classes with Alex. This is the service I was expecting from Virgin Active. Every staff represents the brand! Thanks guys.

One of my favourite outlet to visit during off peak eg last class of the day or on Sunday when the carpark is empty. For those coming by car, enter the carpark for Office and Retail. There are two lifts in the EAST TOWER, take the lift for access to RETAIL / THE HEART where it stops on L2, right infront of the gym. If you take the EAST TOWER CARPARK LIFT , will can only access L1 or L3 and will have to find the other lift to get up. Enjoy the spa pool and shower facilities after class, it’s amazing !

Not a great gym for the premium price that they charge, where corporate rates are about the same as regular rates at other gyms that are far better equipped. Recently cancelled my membership to move to pure fitness after 1 year with Virgin Active. Key issues that i faced during my membership which made me decide to switch: 1. Poor service - Shirts provided kinda stink quite a bit which is disappointing. Cups are frequently not available at the pantry for most outlets as they are not washed regularly. Had a sales representative call me daily to make payment even after i had informed them repeatedly that i could only do so in a few days time due to issues with my card. 2. Rude staff - Certain personal trainers (not all) can be rude sometimes when they are having personal training sessions with their clients. For example, there is this particular trainer that likes to take over machines for his clients without asking even though i was just resting after my set. When i inform that i was not done yet, he would give looks which are very unfriendly. Additionally, personal trainers can be found hogging key equipment during peak hours on weekdays which also further adds to the frustrations. For example, there is only ONE bench press station and maybe during 2 weekdays at 7-8pm, i will find a personal trainer using it while actual paying members end up waiting for a long time. 3. Poor gym design - This is my biggest issue with this gym. For the premium price (highest in Singapore) that i was paying, i expected to have the best gym experience available. However, this is far from the truth. There is only 1 barbell bench press, 1 cable cross machine and 1 deadlift platform at the gym, which is grossly insufficient as i often find myself queuing up to 30 mins to use any of these equipment. There is also this group of friends that frequent the gym on weekdays, who would rotate and hog these 3 equipment during the night, making it impossible to use them sometimes. Furthermore, many key equipment such as seated row machines are also missing. I presume that this is due to space constraints as a result of the rock climbing wall and pool sections which severely limit the space for essential gym equipment. At the raffles city outlet, bars and dumbells are also not well maintained as most of them are extremely rusty and gross. For 10-20% less in membership fees at pure, you get more than double of everything just across the road. 4. Short opening hours - Shortest opening hours among all the premium gyms in Singapore. Staff would also regularly chase u out of the gym 45 minutes prior to closing, which can be frustrating (such as blocking off shower areas early, switching off lifts forcing you to take stairs??, etc). In conclusion, i really do not mind paying premium prices for gyms if they can offer a premium experience. However, Virgin Active grossly falls way below expectations, to the point where cheaper gyms just round the corner provide many times better service at cheaper prices. As such, i cannot recommend this gym to anybody if they continue to stick to this price point. Would perhaps only recommend to consider if they lower prices by at least half.

Hands down one the worse gym service I have ever experienced regardless how good the equipment were. I urge everyone to consider Pure fitness or Fitness first instead with better Staff attitude. I was given a free trial and genuinely considering to subscribe to a gym. However, once the front desk staffs know that I was on my free trial, their attitude changed. Farris, the first guy that attended to me, had a condescending attitude that can be observed once he knows you are on your free trial. After registering, he did not even bother to explain where to get the towels and the toilets are. With a strict face, he said “Go ahead”. I then realise where the towels and clothes were and requested for them. However, the 2 staff girls that attended to me were so judgemental and you can tell based on their looks, knowing that you are on your free trial. One staff girl even looked me from the bottom to the top with her face frowning. After being handed, I overheard a sarcastic remark from one of the staff girls commenting “This guy keep asking and asking”. The whole experience just felt so uncomfortable and I did not feel welcome at all. The front desk staffs were so hostile and I doubt I would ever come back to Virgin Active again. What is the point of giving out free trials if your staffs are going to behave in a condescending manner towards people who are trying out the gym? I did tell your sales person that I am actually considering to subscribe to Virgin Active because of how near the location is to my work place but on second thought, I will never ever step foot into this gym again. I will urge my friends, families, and my office colleagues to avoid Virgin Active at all cost despite the extensive facilities. Fitness first was so much better in their services and I would definitely recommend that over Virgin Active.

Virgin Active Marina One is an exceptional gym that deserves a thorough review. In my opinion, this gym is deserving of a perfect 5/5 rating. There are several factors that contribute to its excellence. First and foremost, Virgin Active Marina One prides itself on its state-of-the-art equipment. Their commitment to providing top-notch fitness tools ensures that members have access to the best resources for achieving their fitness goals. Additionally, the staff at this gym are incredibly friendly, creating a welcoming and supportive environment for all members. What sets this gym apart are its unique facilities. The inclusion of amenities like the salt room, steam room, ice shower, and wall climbing adds a touch of luxury and variety to the fitness experience. These facilities not only contribute to the overall enjoyment of the gym but also provide additional health and wellness benefits. Virgin Active Marina One goes above and beyond by offering generous discounts to AIA vitality members and selected companies. This demonstrates their commitment to making fitness accessible and affordable to a wide range of individuals. The private training discount for 6 weeks is particularly enticing, encouraging members to take advantage of personalized training sessions. Furthermore, the gym offers an appealing discount structure for regular visitors. By visiting the gym 4 times fortnightly, members can enjoy a significant half-price discount. This incentive encourages frequent attendance and rewards commitment to fitness. The cleanliness of the shower rooms is noteworthy, with the gym utilizing premium conditioners, shampoos, and body washes, all featuring the refreshing bergamot scent. This attention to detail enhances the overall experience and leaves members feeling refreshed and rejuvenated after their workout sessions. Personally, I am thrilled to have signed up at Virgin Active Marina One. The impressive facilities, friendly staff, attractive discounts, and commitment to cleanliness have made my experience exceptional. I am eager to make frequent use of this gym and continue reaping the benefits of their top-quality amenities.

To put it short, 1) If you're on the weekly program, you might have to monitor your own credits; they might disappear, but could be reinstated "out of goodwill," according to Izan Ismail 🤡 2) Marina VA's email is inactive so dont bother to email them if you need assistance. 3) The gym maintains a clean environment, and the front desk/consultants are exceptionally friendly—the sole reason for the 1-star rating 4) Lastly, recent unfavorable ratings may be attributed to the gym's restructuring, resulting in a limited selection of classes.

Clean and spacious with indoor swimming pool. Disadvantage is that there are many stairs to climb to the changing room, not good for those with knee issues.

Used to be a frequent user of Raffles and Tg Pagar Club. Experience started out good, service staff was always eager to help and friendly. By the end of two years, i felt service levels were slipping. user experience was marred by administrative blunders, lack of soft skills and mistakes in payment system.. The writing is finally on the wall. Husband and I returned home from overseas and we were considering a fitness membership. Past loyalty means little to VA these days it seems. I am just a BATA shoe to them. A sales agent named CS from this club was following up with me and blocked me on whatsapp when I questioned his sales pitch. He was encouraging me to buy term insurance from AIA + an add on, in order to get a cheaper VA membership rate. A young gym club salesman, offering me an insurance solution to my insurance needs i guess. Is this ethical ? In his reponse, he claimt it was all a misunderstanding and he was only sharing a solution. Yet he proceeded to wish me luck on finding another gym and blocked me without further ado. No discussion. No apology. Adiyos. This is the kind of quality and attitude of the sales staff af Marina One? I am disgusted, apalled at the level of rudeness. Current members and those looking around for a gym, really decide, if that is the kind of fitness club you want to join and what it means if you are intending to 'bind' yourself to them for 12 or 24 months. I cant speak for the other branches. Sadly, management has to thank CS for casting the same reputation across the group for me due to one person's behaviour and enabling this posting.

Do NOT sign up if you are trying to go for Pilates or Yoga group classes. For my experience: I am unable to do bookings daily, they are showing fully booked, and I was put on watch list. And while checking the slots which available for bookings for the next day, or the day after or even few days later. The slots are showing fully booked. It was said the group exercise team is looking at adding classes. But no timeframe being given. The sales team will tell you that you can exercise and book the appointment easily. But the reality is totally different. Update after several months: The booking experience had been improved and only a few classes remaining to be difficult to be booked. The gym has good facilities and friendly staffs. Quality of the classes are good. Changing my rating from 1 to 4.

I won’t dwell much on the Marina One club, just walking through the reception area is already a luxury experience. The staff is top notch, the provided equipment is brand new, the facilities are numerous and in perfect condition. A five star experience all around. I want to give a special shout out to Hafiz, a personal trainer at Marina One. I did several sessions with Hafiz, and within the first 5 minutes he identified my issues with posture and how it was affecting my form and balance. He corrected these issues with simple but targeted warm up exercises, which seemed miraculous to a layman like me. Layman being the operative word here, Hafiz is clearly an expert at what he does and a great source of knowledge, I can’t thank him enough for taking my training to a higher level. He also gave me comprehensive nutrition advice, and devised a weekly workout plan customized for my goals and (temporary!) limitations. Hafiz is a pleasure to work with, strongly recommended to anyone looking to make the most out of their training.

Poor upkeep of equipment - week in week out I’m seeing more and more equipment being out of order and they stay this way for months on end without any fix (eg. the stairs machine). Easily the worst VA outlet in SG and I am qualified to say this because I frequent various outlets regularly - laziest staff you can ever find who can’t be bothered to clear the massive stack of dirty cups even during low peak periods. Want a sip of water? Forget it - there aren’t any clean cups or mugs available. Ridiculous standards for a premium gym like this and funny how they can remain so complacent even with the plethora of choices that have emerged recently and lowered prices from competitors which have proved to be very attractive. VA instructors are great though so it’s a real shame

Very professional staff that are always so courteous and make you feel at home. This club is also filled with a plethora of facilities including a spa pool! Gym equipment is very new and very well maintained. Toilets are regularly cleaned and a hotel atmosphere! A tad hard to access via public transport however.

Best part about the gym is the facilities. Everything else is quite sub standard in my opinion. Service attitude, friendliness of staff and availability of classes. If you have a hectic schedule and are in need of availability of classes this is also not a place for you. They will penalize and restrict your account if you cancel with less than 24 hours notice. So not recommended if you have business meetings on the fly. Attended a class as a beginner and it felt like I was watching a YouTube video trying to keep up, no personal instruction or assistance of any kind. Came out feeling unfulfilled and that I had just wasted an hour of my time. I terminated my membership after only 2 months and paid a $500 penalty. Not worth it.

Expensive fitness club but the best I have tried so far. Clothes are always clean and laundered properly as compared to other branches. I understand that this is not a climbing gym but it would be nice if the 4 climbing walls would be labelled by difficulty, and the routes updated on a regular basis. It will also be best if there are some technical climbing classes. The Ascent Starter class only teaches you how to put on harness and make sure you will not be scared to jump off the auto-belay.

I went for a trial Pilates class with the intention to sign up with VA as a member, but unfortunately the instructor was quite terrible. She didn’t seem to like that I was there on ClassPass and was neither friendly nor helpful. Apart from good bathrooms and other facilities, I don’t understand why anyone would pay upwards of 200 dollars for this club. A large part of the gym is shut for renovation seemingly, might be better when renovation is completed.

great front desk staff, reformer pilates class are pretty good with the reformers in great condition. pool is well maintained, nice pool seats overlooking a currently open field. all is great, except for the pile of uncivilised fellow gym members who leave their used towels and robes all over, cant switch off the shower tap after use and cannot be mindful that other gym-goers are in the locker/changing room so keep your masks on for your aunty gossip. its just unfortunate overly entitled uncivilised members just brings down this gym’s experience down. 😟

Signing up for the Virgin Active (VA) membership and choosing Marina One as my home club is honestly the best decision I’ve made - I love the convenience of using the gym attire provided and all of their facilities and classes are great as well! Marran from VA is the go-to person if you’re thinking about signing up! He’s really friendly and goes above and beyond to help new members out. He’s also really welcoming and is great with making members feel comfortable in a new environment. Thank you for being so amazing Marran! 🥹

The training was good On the other side, the Gym, pool and other services looked pretty clean/new. They give the Gym wear, shoes etc. The place was very clean. Saw that the Gym prices are very expensive, if you are ok for the price, then this place is awesome.

My membership card wasn’t available for collection, potentially taken by another member. I was told I’d hear an update from VA by the next day, which didn’t happen so I went back to get an update the following day. I was told they had identified the member who took my card, but she had not answered the phone so they didn’t know when she would stop by the club next. I was also told that they “don’t do message” - so they’ll supposedly just keep calling this member. Another day has passed and there’s still no update. Service in this branch is generally tardy and inconsistent, but the hiccup could have been better handled although it wasn’t entirely under the team’s control. It’s a pity that the team couldn’t even keep the commitment of providing me an update. Overall VA seems to have slipped in standard, across many areas despite the swanky facade. Update: VA has sorted this out and someone has reached out to me to address my other feedback. Good sign that VA is still open to feedback, just that we need to raise it to the right person

Overall a nice gym if you are just casual and not really looking to go full Arnold otherwise, If you are looking to lift i personally wouldn’t go here especially on weekday nights as it gets really crowded and they have limited equipment, especially if you want to do your squats. The classes are ok. And the staff are approachable the place is well kept. The pool is good but is limited to 3 lanes so you might have to wait your turn which seldom happens

Excellent gym in downtown with a relaxing ambience. The hydrotherapy spa is an added luxury after a high-intensity workout. The facilities and equipment are clean and well-maintained and no bumping into each other at the locker rooms. This is highly recommended for those who prefer to pay a little bit more for comfort and luxury.

Have been going to Virgin Active Marina One for a month now and training with Ryan. For the gym, I particularly like that the provided attire looks and feels new and fresh. The equipment has good variety and are generally well-maintained. Would recommend avoiding lunchtime peaks for the most pleasant workout experience. For Ryan, I appreciate how he makes the sessions fun by incorporating different types of movements in the workouts. I also find him to be attentive in tailoring the intensity of the workout to trainees of different abilities. I feel stronger and more confident in my ability to navigate the gym and my own training now, as compared to when I first started.

My experience has been nothing short of exceptional since Day 1; from the booking app to the variety of classes down to the people. Recently, there was a cancellation of a class I booked, the team went out of the way to inform me of the cancellation, from phone calls to email to Sue personally checking in, apologising? Who does that these days? If this is not service, I don't know what is. She has always been professional, helpful and friendly. Special shout out to Wan who has been beyond extraordinary, going beyond call of duty, replying to messages even on his day off, answering to every question or need. Truly diamond in a rough. The team at M1 has been exceptional. I can't find a word to better describe them. I wish I could name everyone on here. The ladies at the front desk, the gentlemen. It's been more than 6 months now that I'm here but the service is just impeccable. A big thank you!!

Great gym, not crowded. Plus point is the pool. If you’re going to do a real gym session, I recommend the Raffles outlet. If you plan for a chill one, come here 😝

Great place to workout at Virgin Active Marina One in Singapore

(Translated by Google) The overall clean quality of the environment, the staff’s smiling and reasonable attitude, the machines and equipment that are maintained daily, the constant temperature swimming pool plus the very emotional SPA, the distribution of the bathroom layout and the quality of hair dryers and electric rods are very good for four stars. Good quality above. If you are still looking for a gym, I sincerely recommend this one.

I really enjoy my pilates classes with Sophia! She teaches the class with passion and so much care. She will correct your forms and encourage you to always do better. The movements are also very diverse so every class feels so fresh and exciting. I always go to her barre class too in Holland V. It’s a whole different genre but same excitement!

Virgin Marina is a truly 6-star rating gym with fabulous facilities like swimming pool, rock climbing wall and jacuzzi. Best of all the staff are so friendly and helpful and in particularly Syitah who is ever ready to offer assistance without hesitation. Kudos 👏 to all staff there in Marina and keep.up the great service.

Love this club at Marina One building. Pool, spa pool, and Salt Chamber are among the features you find here. The club has a bigger space here for the workout machines and personal training area here at Marina One. I had checked out the club at Duo, but find it too cramp over there. Other branches are at Guoco Tower (Tanjong Pagar), Holland, Paya Lebar, Raffles Place.

Yoga standard is very low than all places in Singapore. Zero passion, zero commitment and zero dedication. All Teachers barely connect with students. Yoga management dropped down in recent times as hiring teachers are boring and less qualified and less experienced.

Small gym with heated indoor pool and wall climbing. One of the newer gyms of VA but limited activities as compared to its bigger peers.

Went there for my ACE CPT Practical Exam and I was very impressed with the staff service. They were friendly, polite and extremely helpful. the equipments were clean and neat at the gym too. It was a little crowded at about 1pm on a weekend which was surprising. IG: @thepinksoldier

Great gym, friendly staff, good equipment and classes - especially the spin classes with Alvin, they are a thorough and hard workout! Massive downside is the cleanliness of the showers. I have raised this before and I was told they would sort it out, but today I showered and there were easily 50 flies in my cubicle. The cleaning staff need to be trained to do a more thorough job.

Bloody good, this gym attracts me to go work out more than others. Maybe I can only speak for myself as no-so-hardcore gymmer. Equipment are new and handy. View of running machine is good.

Sadly, they removed the group reformer classes. Social distancing is a poor excuse when they still have spin classes with the bikes almost staggered on top of each other

Losing their touch in being one of the most prestige gyms in Singapore. Poor up keep of the gym, machines will dusty, soap bottles have moulds in it, shower room floors has rust. However the staff are very friendly

It’s the five star hotel among gyms. Most luxurious and posh. Best gym compared to any other gym way better. Others like FF PF are way behind in terms of facilities. Especially would like to compliment Mr Marran. He is very efficient and caring towards the customers. The trainers are all extremely knowledgeable at par with physiotherapists! (Like Alex and Haris) The machines are all extremely good and well maintained. The heated pool and jacuzzi at the marina one branch are better than any other jacuzzi in singapore. Super powerful jacuzzi in the large spa pool. Also the indoor rock climbing facility is unparalleled. VA is indeed the best place to gym and relax and work!! Some unique points: 1. Expensive herbal shampoo and conditioner. 2. Bose speakers everywhere 3. Amazing rock climbing wall 4. Salt rooms to sleep and sleeping pods for power naps 5. Lounges with workstations 6. Best smelling toilets/showers with steam and ice rooms!!

Hayley's outdoor yoga session is a delightful departure from the norm. I’ve ben attending her in studio classes regularly too. Hayley incorporates both difficult and foundational postures, making the class engaging and enjoyable for practitioners of all levels. Will love to attend more of her reformer classes too!
