As a former member of Virgin Active, I highly caution anyone from joining this unscrupulous gym. When I joined there was only the Raffles Place outlet but I was told that a Tanjong Pagar branch would be opening in about 3-6 months but ended up being about 9 months. The pool was supposed to be opened together with the gym but got a further 2-3 months delay. The front of house staff would continually lie about the openings and would always say that they would be open in the “next month” for many months on end. Joining their classes was also a hellish experience. Popular classes like hot yoga and vinyasa yoga for example, require you to register the same night or in the early hours of the next day to secure a spot. Then when you actually do, there is no organization and the members just lay their mats wherever they wish and if you don’t come early you wouldn’t even have a proper spot. Their billing system was also extremely buggy, with my charges often being incorrect or failing to be charged (in which case they call you multiple times a day) while I had no problems using my card elsewhere. Yet, that same diligence was never extended to when they increase your fees. They had never bothered to reach out to me to inform me that they would be increasing my dues after my contract was fulfilled (three times before I finally had enough and decided to leave). They claimed to have sent me an email each time (which probably ended up in my spam folder, where they rightfully belong anyway) when I had raised the issue to them, but not once did I see any of that diligence to actually contact me to ensure that I actually knew of the increases. Given, they might have all those fancy and fun facilities and features, but with how busy it always gets, you hardly would have the opportunity to enjoy it anyways. Off peak isn’t really an option either considering how short their operating hours each week are at most of their outlets. When they have so many members and so few clubs, you would think that they should keep their outlets open more right? Nope. All these issues combined with the little things like poor housekeeping, frequently damaged facilities, pathetic beverage offerings, unfriendly staff members, extremely uncomfortable workout shorts, worn out towels, etc, just sealed the deal for me to leave. To add insult to the injury, the welcome gifts I got were hideous pink low quality pleather duffle bag and shoe bag while soon after they started giving out sleek and handsome Under Armor ones instead. My whole experience with Virgin Active was one that left me feeling conned, harassed, and endlessly frustrated. Unless you want to feel that as well, I highly recommend you to search for other options.

Would be better if they opened at 6am rather than 6:30am. That relatively small difference can be very helpful. ****reply to Virgin’s reply: Both Pure Fitness and TrueFitness open at 6am which would suggest that it’s at least somewhat industry standard. Just a bit strange to imply that members asking for an opening time in line with your competition is like wishing hardship upon your employees. Surely Virgin could think of any number of ways to make such a change less impactful than you imply.

Although it's very nice, the customer service is terrible and the excuse is "we don't have a customer service manager at that branch". Even when I was overcharged, it took 6 weeks to process a refund and I had to put a block on my credit card to stop being overcharged again as it was not rectified quickly. It is a small gym, with a focus on classes, but almost all classes are booked up and unavailable, even one week in advance - meaning you more often than not have to visit another branch. This might not be a good place to join if you need to be flexible with your schedule and you are choosing it because of location. All of the staff are lovely and friendly, however they are unprofessional at times and would benefit from more customer focused training.

Have been a member here 5+ years, trying to cancel a membership has been an exercise in futility. 3 separate occasions speaking to the front desk has seen my request pawned off to another “team member” who will contact me in 24 hours. It’s been more than a week. Emails result in generic responses and no replies until pursued again at the front desk. Ridiculous experience. Gym is fine and decently maintained, trainers fairly knowledgeable, but god forbid you try to end a relationship with this franchise. Currently still unresolved.

Please don't join this gym. Poor service from the staff and slow response. Currently am a member on the gym and can't wait to finish my membership with them (3 months more). During covid time they charge you the same but more than half of the classes and facilities are not available. It's impossible to book classes too. Recently I got a knee injury and couldn't come to the gym. Though I missed the cut off time to inform them, the least they could do for me is to freeze my account from the next billing cycle but instead they ask me to message them again nearer to date. Basically they're counting on people to forget to freeze. Thanks so much for your "service". For the first time I feel like it's the kind of gym that just wants to drain you off.

The club has grown its membership since joining. Facilities and équipment are now suffering the effects of wear & tear. Further, the after sales service is severely lacking. They were very courteous during the pre-sign up phase. But subsequently was near impossible getting a response to queries or even request to review strike out points due to illness. Repeated daily calls over a week was required for 1 strike out review due to illness. In spite of having a legit reason for cancelling the class late (after 9pm the day before), they merely entertained my query to review the strike out & took no action as was promised. After sales service can be improved, perhaps due to the overwhelming increase in membership to staff ratio; service is severely lacking. Response from the dedicated manager upon sign is non existent

Staff are very nice, however, the gym is a tad small and it's hard to find parking. Very conveniently located near the MRT station though! Changing rooms may be a bit small but still pretty decent. Equipment is very new and very well maintained. Highly recommend!

The gym equipment are very good, the reception very polite, and most of the instructors are encouraging. I wanted to put 5 stars unfortunately recently I had a bad experience with this teacher Elaine T who is very rude and disrespectful that why I put 2 stars.

Beautiful facilities but absolutely poor attitude of sales staff. Very poor after sales customer care. When you run into problems with payment for membership it will be difficult to impossible to resolve. No one answers front desk phone and when they do they will inform you that your customer service staff is unavailable and will call you back. But good luck on getting that call back. Nice facilities but you won't get to use them as the classes are pretty difficult to book into. Considering joining fitness first at westgate instead. They have outlets at clementi, fusionopolis, metropolis and paragon all of which are well worth the short drive. Admittedly fitness first won't be as luxe but at least you'll get a spot in the class and my friends who have had problems with continuing their memberships for medical or personal reasons have said that the after sales service is excellent. Don't be fooled by the beautiful facilities on your tour of the gym!

Very terrible business ethics. Auto renewal even though customers specifically called in to mention that they wish to stop their membership? When you mistreat your customers, it will definitely come back to bite you, especially when there are so many alternatives out there. Totally unacceptable.

I had the pleasure of working with Sophia as my personal trainer, and I couldn't be more satisfied with the experience. Sophia's professionalism and ability to assess and tailor exercises to suit my body, with a focus on more rehab-based exercises due to a few injuries, were exceptional. Her extensive knowledge of the body, coupled with clear explanations and a touch of humour, made each session enjoyable and effective. I wholeheartedly recommend Sophia to anyone seeking a skilled and personable personal trainer.

Rozanne is the absolute best Pilates instructor I've ever had. Her classes are challenging and always fun. She teaches with her whole heart - it's clear not only in the quality of her classes, but the way she interacts with members. Sophia is also excellent. Incredibly thorough and engaging. Her classes are suitable for members of all abilities as she offers plenty of options for us to choose from. More importantly, she brings an electric energy to all her classes. Could not recommend more!

Very disappointed. Whilst the gym is beautiful, the 6 class only booking system is flawed in that it penalises those that are keen to enjoy unlimited classes across the week. I enjoy taking an active class followed by a yoga or pilates. Their booking system only allows for you to book 3 days ahead which means the rest of the hot classes get booked up. Reception tell me you have to book over the counter for any of the available classes which is not practical for anyone planning a week ahead. I have yet to have one satisfying week of exercise..tried now for four weeks to get this resolved, sending emails and a face to face discussion with a manager with no results. Wish I had joined Fitness First...Not so glamorous surroundings but better number of classes and no limits there! Richard Branson, are you there? Please help!

Writing here to get some management attention(if possible?). Cancelled membership with them, waived fee with sufficient documents. Got charged still for $500, then got promised to refund me within 6-8 weeks (that conversation happened early July), and nothing happened until now, while they told me they need to investigate and system shows no refund processed. Let’s see if/when this can be solved. Taking my money was super fast, giving back is soooooo tough.

The gym has got the needed equipment and they offer a decent variety of classes. The classes book extremely fast though. Everything is clean and very well maintained and classes are punctual. Don’t expect to ask for anything extra, I requested them for months to provide me a consolidated invoice to get my membership fees reimbursed from my insurance and had to follow up for it for over 3 months and at the end it wasn’t done properly and I was never able to get my reimbursement due to extremely bad administration so that annoyed me a lot. In Singapore though this is very common. I went for few months trying out other gyms and yoga studios but eventually came back to Virgin Active. When it comes to value for money there’s really nothing special about it and I’m not sure why their fees are higher than Fitness First, if the later was also in Holland Village I would definitely quit Virgin Active.

Horrible customer service. The entire staffs need to be retrained. Refund taking forever for an overcharge and after 3 weeks of promising to assign a PT to me, nobody called me yet. This is how bad their customer service are. A premium gym with bad customer service

Zhen from Virgin Active gym has been very patient and courteous when explaining the services offered by the gym. Apart from the usual facility offered by most other gyms, this gym stands out because of its different facilities and hospitable service catering to fitness lovers. I’m sure every one who steps in and does exercise feels superiority and enjoyment!

I am giving it three stars because the gym clothes that are provided in this branch are usually not laundered properly (some lingering smell, and the condition is also not that great as compared to other branches). The place has very limited equipment so you have to be either really early or go during lunch to make best use of your time. I think this branch is more suited for attending classes. Otherwise just go to other branches and you will end up saving more time.

A small neighborhood VA that appeals to the locals. The big deal about this branch is the reformer machines which has people pretty excited. Membership also allows you to visit the other branches both on the island and overseas.

Facilities, classes and everything about VA was superb. Zhen was my consultant, and he helped to make my onboarding a very smooth & efficient experience from answering my questions, providing tips & recommendations on how to maximize the gym, receiving feedback about my trial experience, and helping me to resolve the referral linking issue smoothly. I'm extremely excited to start my fitness journey with VA!

I had my personal training journey with Ben and he was really a great coach to help me in my training, monitoring my progress and introducing me to various forms of exercise. I often skipped my exercise in the past, but with Ben, now it has become a habit to hit the gym that is hard to miss. Thanks Ben for keep pushing and encouraging me during my training! Also, very great service from Joana ever since I joined the club to handle my admin request & queries. Have enjoyed my gym experience with Virgin!

My experience at Virgin Active (HV) has been a great one so far. The facilities are not only neat and clean, but there's a variety of high quality equipment provided, and every instructor so far has been so engaging and delightful. Dylan (A staff member) was especially helpful in my journey of signing on to my membership, and is actively helpful and friendly on our interactions - He was very willing to help my friends who wanted to join too and was not pushy at all. Sign up for a trial reformer pilates with a friend. The customer service rep Joanna was extremely helpful in arranging and getting a grip socks for me as I do not have it. This is the only reason why the review still have 1 star. Arranged 7.45pm Thursday 13 Jul class with instructor Eulin T. Arrived at the gym 10min earlier, was assisted by Dylan. As we were first timer, of cos we do not know what to do, whether the shoes can be wore up or put in locker and how to use the locker. The locker part took a while but it didn't work as well. We rushed up to the class and was still on time. But to our horror, the instructor just shut the door in my face. I asked if we can join the class and she rejected us saying we need to be 1 min early for the class as she DOES NOTwant to repeat what she has brief. Wow, such arrogance... Overall, it was a terrible experience and a total waste of my friend and my time to go down to the gym. No clear guidance by the counter staff. Will NOT recommended

The gym is located on two floors. The layout is well planned out with spacious free weights area, personal training area and rooms for all type of classes. The gym is not over crowded with hardcore banging weights gymmers. Dylan has convinced me that VA was the perfect gym to match my lifestyle.

This branch has a pilates studio, a general studio, and a spin studio. The gym floor has two squat racks, one with deadlift floor, one bench press bench. Showers are clean and well maintained. Located on levels 3 (reception and showers) and 4 at Raffles Holland Village There's no sauna, steam room, pool, salt room, or relaxation pod at this branch.

Sophia is one of the Zumba instructors I follow. Her classes are always filled w drama and sensuality, and the cardio is well balanced by her selection of recovery songs. She pays attention to the selection of music and techniques of the diff genres, which means I get more than just focus on fitness in her classes.

Attended to few of Georgia's evening yoga classes at Holland, and I find that her class is very consistent. Her sequences is curated nicely such that it is accessible for everyone to flow. Georgia cues is soothing clear. She provides more attention to ensure we are in proper alignments (especially basic poses). Always good and positive energy in her classes! Worth trying!

I would love to complement my trainers Sofia and Rozanne 💕 as well as my sales rep Olga!!! I enjoyed Sofia’s booty barre class so much and it became my weekly routine!! She’s so passionate, strong, inspirational and friendly ☺️ it is super fun to attend her classes and the vibe is 💯 I’m looking forward to try her pilates classes next time when time permits! Rozanne is my all time favourite Pilates instructor!!! She’s so friendly, hardworking and patient. She always greet all the members with a big smile 😃 It’s hard not to love her bubbly personality 🩷🩷🩷 Last but not least, I’ve met Olga two years ago and she has been so helpful, attentive with all my questions / requests. She’s super honest and trustworthy! Go find Olga from HV if you wanna sign up membership with VA 😉

Love the variety & frequency of class offerings esp the Reformer studio, which most gyms don't have. Many good instructors, Sophia being 1 of them, very versatile as she teaches Zumba, Barre, Reformer classes. What I like is that she give clear instructions, sufficient explanation, informs us what muscle grps are targeted, with a good sequence of exercises from start to finish.

I have been going to Virgin Active’s Holland Village branch for 1.5 years since my surgery. A special shout-out to Sophia, my trainer, who has been a wonderful support with my post—surgery physical rehabilitation. I have not only regained physical strength, increased range of motion and mobility, but also gained confidence and a positive outlook! The pilates (they have reformers) and barre classes are also very well run for various ability levels. The treadmill, elliptical and weight training machines also are in tip-top condition and in good availability (hardly had to wait to use). Keep it up!

This is a much smaller gym compared to the ones at Tanjong Pagar or Raffles Place. It exudes cosiness though the free weights or machine area is small. It is however not v crowded esp in the weekday afternoon. I do not attend the classes but I believe it is one of the draws to the gym.

I like this place, mainly because my trainer is awesome. They do need to make the music feel more like a gym and less like a nail spa (and not clash the music in changing rooms and outside). But small items in what overall is a buzzy, community-driven gym that makes me look forward to returning. Holland V has a lot of pretty generic places, this one though is great.

I’ve been with a few other gyms but I like VA’s environment the most. Basics are met (clean, neutral smell, air conditioning is not too hot nor cold) and gym goers, VA’s PT/staff are friendly, and respectful. Classes are easy to book. Gym isn’t crowded to the point that you have to queue to shower. Joana is really helpful and my PT, Wen Bin, has been wonderful! Kudos to them

High quality, diverse group class, people are nice and friendly community. Equipment is top notch able to sync with apple watch. I enjoyed attending classes in the morning like Bodypump with Ms Shirley, HIIT and reformer pilates after hard workouts. No problem on billing, extending or renewing great customer service just look for Ms Joanna Crespo. Overall I enjoy my workout in Virgin HV.

Decided to try Virgin Active as a new gym. Was facilitated by Zhen who is the Consultant in VA Holland Village. Am extremely satisfied by his outstanding service and knowledge of the services that VA offers and decided to sign a yearly plan through him. He guided me from A to Z and i am satisfied by his services and is the friendliest consultant i came across so far when looking into signing a new gym membership. Would strongly recommend those who wish to sign up for VA through him as he will explain in detail anything with regards to the gym membership and definitely you will be satisfied by his warm, friendly and bubbly personality. Thank you VA especially Holland Village Club for having a wonderful, cheerful and helpful Consultant like him!

This gym is amazing with the facility, great equipment and especially the location. Excellent service with friendly staff at the reception and the account manager who attended to me - Dylan. He provides complete information, super helpful with countless questions and patience to show and explain all outlets differences. On top of that, the place is super clean and comfortable gym to be at. Strongly recommend you to look for Dylan if you need help with the gym registration!
