I
am
writing
this
review
to
bring
to
your
attention
regarding
the
unethical
practices
and
inconvenience
experienced
by
members
of
Gymm
Boxx,
particularly
in
relation
to
their
recent
outlet
closures
and
refund
policies.
On
24th
February
2021,
I
enthusiastically
signed
up
for
a
membership
with
Gymm
Boxx
at
their
Bedok
Point
outlet,
which
was
conveniently
located
just
1
kilometer
away
from
my
residence.
The
proximity
to
my
home
played
a
significant
role
in
my
decision
to
join
the
gym,
as
it
allowed
me
to
easily
incorporate
fitness
into
my
daily
routine.
However,
my
positive
experience
was
short-lived
when
Gymm
Boxx
abruptly
closed
their
Bedok
Point
outlet
in
May
2022.
Members
were
instructed
to
visit
their
Century
Square
outlet
in
Tampines,
which
was
approximately
5
kilometers
away
from
my
home.
Despite
the
inconvenience,
I,
like
many
other
members,
decided
to
cooperate
with
the
management's
request,
trusting
that
they
would
find
a
suitable
replacement
in
the
Bedok
area.
In
January
2023,
when
my
membership
was
due
for
renewal,
I
chose
to
extend
it
during
a
promotional
period.
To
my
dismay,
in
April
2023,
Gymm
Boxx
announced
the
closure
of
their
Century
Square
outlet.
This
time,
members
were
presented
with
two
options,
both
of
which
were
far
from
satisfactory.
The
first
option
required
us
to
travel
over
15
kilometers
to
their
Ci
Yuan
outlet
in
Hougang,
which
would
take
more
than
an
hour
using
public
transportation.
Alternatively,
members
could
opt
for
a
refund
of
the
unused
portion
of
their
membership,
but
were
subjected
to
a
so-called
"processing
fee"
initially
set
at
$120.
The
fee
was
later
reduced
to
$80
following
significant
backlash.
However,
it
remains
unjustifiable
to
penalize
members
for
requesting
a
refund
due
to
circumstances
beyond
their
control.
Adding
to
the
frustration,
Gymm
Boxx
lacks
a
reachable
phone
number
for
customer
inquiries,
leaving
email
as
the
only
means
of
communication.
Regrettably,
their
response
time
to
these
emails
is
excessively
long,
sometimes
taking
up
to
three
weeks.
This
lack
of
prompt
and
effective
communication
has
only
amplified
the
grievances
of
members
who
are
seeking
clarification
and
resolution.
It
is
utterly
unreasonable
and
impractical
to
expect
members
to
travel
great
distances
to
access
alternative
outlets,
especially
when
the
closures
are
not
the
result
of
any
fault
on
their
part.
The
inconveniences
and
financial
penalties
imposed
on
members
seeking
refunds
are
highly
unethical,
indicative
of
a
disregard
for
customer
satisfaction
and
a
breach
of
trust.
Therefore,
I
urge
all
of
you,
to
seriously
reconsider
signing
up
or
renewing
a
gym
membership
with
Gymm
Boxx.
Their
practices
demonstrate
a
lack
of
transparency,
fairness,
and
empathy
towards
their
valued
members.
We,
as
consumers/gym
members,
have
the
right
to
expect
ethical
treatment
and
reasonable
solutions
when
faced
with
unforeseen
circumstances
such
as
outlet
closures.
By
supporting
establishments
that
prioritize
customer
well-being
and
satisfaction,
we
can
collectively
advocate
for
fair
and
accountable
practices
within
the
fitness
industry.
I
hope
that
you
will
take
my
review
into
consideration
and
make
an
informed
decision
regarding
your
gym
membership.

Update
Just
got
an
email
from
the
gym
today
that
unless
I
agree
to
the
$80
admin
fee,
they
will
not
refund
me
the
money.
They
are
making
up
the
T&C
as
they
go
along.
This
is
blackmail
and
highly
unethical!!
