I had the pleasure of experiencing breakfast at Killiney Kopitiam in Singapore, and it turned out to be an unexpected delight. While I wasn’t sure what to expect, my first visit left me enamored with this humble eatery, and I now count it among my favorite breakfast spots in the city. The highlight of my experience was undoubtedly the authentic Singaporean breakfast. From kaya toast to soft-boiled eggs and a steaming cup of local coffee, every dish exuded the essence of Singaporean cuisine. The kaya toast was perfectly crispy, and the kaya spread was a delightful blend of sweet and creamy. The soft-boiled eggs were executed to perfection, providing a simple yet comforting start to the day. And the coffee – oh, the coffee! It had that classic Singaporean kopi flavor, which I found to be the ideal companion to my meal. What sets Killiney Kopitiam apart is its simplicity. The menu is not overly complicated, and the focus is on delivering well-executed traditional dishes. This straightforward approach not only ensures that you get an authentic experience but also keeps the prices reasonable. You won’t break the bank enjoying a satisfying breakfast here. The ambiance of Killiney Kopitiam adds to its charm. It’s not a flashy or extravagant place, but that’s precisely what I loved about it. The humble and laid-back vibe creates a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. It’s an excellent spot to enjoy a leisurely breakfast, read the newspaper, or simply savor the moment. In summary, Killiney Kopitiam is a gem for those seeking an authentic Singaporean breakfast experience. The simplicity, reasonable prices, and humble ambiance make it a standout choice. I can’t recommend it enough for anyone looking to start their day with a taste of Singaporean culture and cuisine.

The place is not so big, so you maybe have to wait before seated. But it’s worth the wait. You can have your breakfast like locals do. But they suit for lunch too because they have heavy meal.

The OG Killiney Kopitiam. The Kopi is dark roasted robusta with dark chocolate flavour note. No nutty notes present but the texture is round and I found no astringency. The condensed milk is also not too over the top so it’s nice and balanced. It is no specialty coffee, but it is a respectable and delightful traditional coffee. The soft boiled egg - just good ol soft boiled eggs with runny yolks AND whites. If you are not used to runny whites, don’t yuck it before you try it! Kaya toast - they use white bread instead of wheat bread. I actually prefer this as it is sweeter and goes better with the kaya jam. Laksa - I didn’t expect a bowl of Laksa from a kopitiam to taste so good, but it was wonderful. Rich, creamy, bold, and unapologetically spicy. It is not super spicy but probably spicier than most breakfast dishes you’ve ever had. The atmosphere and vibe still feels authentic even though there were a lot of tourists (including myself). The uncles here are actually quite pleasant to interact with.

Quaint little shop tucked away in the corner of Orchard. A regular breakfast place for my family. Do note that coming between 9-11am might be alittle crowded. Would usually get the Kaya Toast but decided to try something different and went with the curry chicken. Personally - not my fav. Would stick with the kaya toast and eggs (2-die-4).

This is THE original Killiney Road Kopitiam that spurned a thousand (;) franchises across the SG local coffee and kaya bread world. Transformed many times over the decades from an abject, rude and dysfunctional try-to-be-hardcore “local” setup to a now much better rendition, this is your reference Killiney without veneer. Not the calmest nor slick mothership you would expect, but perhaps the shop that the owners would themselves have to judge daily. It’s still rough all around, but you get the original feel of what they wanted you to feel, food or otherwise. If you are a tourist, yeah, drop by and take your selfie here with your local favourite kopi cuppa, or kuppa..? Parking is not bad along the Road but it’s jammed pack during weekdays. Weekends are better. What to eat? Anything if you are visiting. Not a bad thing for sure. On your way out, take a walk along the road.. the view is better outside, except weekdays.

Real authentic Killiney Kopitiam located at Killiney Road Singapore. My all time favorite are bread toast with kaya jam and hot tea with milk. Must try when you visit Singapore

I walked in without much expectation, then left with 200% satisfaction. Curry chicken is a must-have… probably one of the best curry related dishes I’ve ever had. I am definitely coming back! Oh and of course the coffees are absolutely perfect too.

Good coffee and a really decent mee siam. Pity the mee siam wasn’t hot enough so the chives tasted very raw.

Killiney Kopitiam never disappoints. Ate here quite a few times and food is still good. Especially love their mee siam. Definitely a must when you visit Singapore.

Standout here was the Kopi - much more complex and roasty flavours (like toasted malt). Curry roti (prata) for breakfast? Yes please! Best to come early and savour with locals.

Killiney Kopitiam, an emblem of Singapore’s traditional coffeehouse culture, is a warm retreat for an early riser. The tranquil ambiance during sunrise, accompanied by the aroma of coffee, sets a nostalgic mood. The menu, boasting quintessential dishes like Kaya toast, soft-boiled eggs, otak, and chee cheong fun, met my expectations for authenticity. However, for a place steeped in so much heritage and acclaim, I was expecting a touch of the extraordinary or a surprising element, which seems to be absent in the experience.

I always come here every time go to Singapore. Kaya toast is a must! It’s very yummy. The place is not too big, when we come here all the tables were full but it took short time for us to wait. You can buy Kaya jam in a jar, so you can make your own toast at home ☺️
