Mellower Coffee

Cafe

😠 I think this place is overrated. Staff at the counter was unfriendly. Only after I paid and the order was out, the told me that I could stay only for an hour. Their attitude was more of telling you to ”leave after one hour” rather than being informative and helpful. A lot of reviews said it is a goo... People often mention coffee, good, cafe, staff, nice, Coffee, chill, latte, great, Nice,

I think this place is overrated. Staff at the counter was unfriendly. Only after I paid and the order was out, the told me that I could stay only for an hour. Their attitude was more of telling you to ”leave after one hour” rather than being informative and helpful. A lot of reviews said it is a good place to study/work with good wifi; I guess it is not anymore. Their drink was also disappointing. I ordered a hot chai latte that was lukewarm. Then they told me to move my seat, because they had a group of four customers and needed my table. Well, other seats didn't have power outlets, so I remained at my table after all. Later on, they had two customers who wanted to share my table, but they refused them. I am really confused. What kind of safety measures change spontaneously?!

Cafe is cosy. They have 2 floors. The aircond is so cooling, so nice to chill especially when the weather is so hot. The iced latte is quite good. However the flat white is not great. Too milky. 6 bucks for a small cup. One small feedback: pls clean up your toilet. It’s in very bad condition.

They have limited the dining time to 1hour per table which I feel is quite reasonable as it allows ample seats to be available at any one time. Coffee is good but chocolate needs to be more consistent across all branches. Overall decent place to hang out / chill with friends. Update: Can’t get over the quality of the paper straw, it’s really hard to drink the frappe with it - understand the whole rationale on being sustainable but frappe orders aside, maybe?

Good location and very busy. Lots of people working, studying and catching up. The coffee with cotton candy is a gimmick and very messy to drink with. And unfortunately the burnt cheese cake was really tough and tasteless.

Great cafe to have a meeting or sit and work with high speed free Wi-Fi! They do however limit 90min seating time. And the adorable the Merlion cakes tho!! How can I resist!

Coffee alright. Service -1/ 10. Sulky faces, poor attitude, it's like customers are trespassers. Never seen before bs.

Mellower coffee is an apt name, as the coffee lacks any sharp notes to it. Unremarkable, unless you're in it for coffee flavoured milk. Over-rated as some would suggest, and definitely not worth its price. Decent environment. It functions more as a social spot, rather than a coffee place.

Heard their coffee is nice. So decided to pop by and try it out. Personally don’t like coffee or tea but I tried cappuccino. Coffee was good and service was ok too. We ordered flat white, cafe latte and cappuccino. Total bill was $19. Nice Environment and good to chill out with friends.

Good location opposite Bugis+ , nice interior decoration, good seating arrangement, and the drinks are nice, personally I like the chai latte - not too sweet and flavorful. Will come back to check the 2nd floor and try more stuff here. PS: 2nd floor has better design, and better views.

Environment: It is Saturday 3pm and it was almost full at level 2. Nice environment but bit noisy. Some tables with power plug, so people can stay longer with their laptop. There are chairs leathers with minor tears & dirty white spot, maybe need to replace. Drink: My first time and I tried the sweet little rain which is rather special for me, it is their signature drink. The blank coffee together with a white cotton candy on top of it. The cotton candy like a white fluffy cloud and it will melt creates a rain drop feel. At the end, it may look a bit messy as the "rain drop" outside of the cup. Just a nice first time experience for me. Dessert: New York cheesecake very rich cheese taste and I like it.

Interesting coffees with a local twist. Barista was very sweet, friendly and efficient, the cafe was very busy when we were there, but we still received our drinks quite quickly. The WC needed some cleaning though.

The location provides two floors of seats at the corner of a busy junction. The interior is intimate and clean. The coffees are interesting while the desserts can be more varied.

Fame coffee took over Mellower cafe and do not change much on the interior design of the cafe . We had ordered the white and black coffee. Well balance of the coffee ☕️ and the cafe offer change from milk to plant based milk ( Oatmilk ) for the top up cost of $1.00. Happy to see more cafes with plant based milk options. Please have vegan 🌱 bakes options as well. 😀😀

During a staycation near by Bugis. After hours of shopping and felt a little tired and I was Invited by partner for afternoon coffee. A real surprise for me is the serving of coffee it’s so exclusively special ! Sweet Little Rain Hot americano coupled with sweet little sugar rain dripped from candy floss clouds Like it a little bittersweet.

(Translated by Google) I visited the cafe because it was big and it was okay to use a computer Maybe because of the corona, the second floor was closed and only the first floor was opened. So, I visited around 3 o'clock and there was no room at the cafe Told me to wait outside There were almost no outlets in the cafe I can only use Wi-Fi for an hour per device... So I turned on the hotspot and tried to use the computer.. And one of the staff who can speak English...? I think it only works. I went to the counter to ask for something, but I couldn't answer what the staff asked and called another staff...

The banana walnut muffin first came with ants crawling all over it - cashier changed to a new one for me. But unfortunately it tasted so stale, the walnuts were rancid to the point I couldn't bring myself to take another bite. Coffee is good and that's all. Please do not be bothered with their matcha latte, I saw the barista scooped out some light green powder from an industrial sized aluminium foil packaging. All I can taste is sweet greenish milk.

Quite a busy cafe considering it's a weekday afternoon, Level 2 wasn't open and level 1 was almost full. Seems like all their staff are too busy as there are quite some tables waiting to be cleaned. Coffee is great and ambience is good for chilling alone or catching up with friends.

Came with a friend on a Sunday afternoon for a short coffee break. The place is quite spacious (2 levels), and note that the dining time limit is 90mins (I do see some people sitting inside longer than that though ... 😂). We ordered the Sweet Little Rain, which comes with black coffee and a blob of cotton candy on top of it. Coffee was quite fragrant but frankly we ordered it because it looks Instagrammable 😂... Nothing too special about it. It's rather pricey too, was SGD 9.80. We also tried the rooibos iced tea (peach?), which was carbonated, that was okay. Price was SGD 6.50 if not wrong. Overall the experience was fine; typical "atas" coffee chill place for a hot afternoon.

Coffee is good. Service is good. Atmosphere is cozy. Price is comparable to other coffee cafes. If you are accustomed to hawker style coffee, please keep an open mind and don't judge to harshly. Hawker style coffee is always going to be better and way cheaper.

Great café to study at with fantastic atmosphere. It is not the quietest place but that is something I appreciate; you don’t have to worry about disturbing others while chatting and discussing with friends. There are charging outlets available but sadly the Wi-Fi is a bit unreliable, I usually use my own hotspot. Lastly, the coffee is great with some cool and interesting twists if that is something you’re looking for. In conclusion, I’ve been here almost every week for the past two months because it is always a reliable place.

Taking over the previous Mellower Coffee's space, which is spacious and plenty of seats. Didnt like Mellower, so this is a good change. Pretty surprised by the coffee here, smooth, balanced, bold. But if only they can serve in proper dine in cup instead of paper cup. And price is slightly higher too.

Ordered a Maddie Melon Latte and a burnt cheese cake. Latte is rich and creamy with a very slight hint of water melon taste. Burnt cheese cake is really good and melts in the mouth. Environment is nice but a bit noisy for a cafe. They should work on the acoustics of the area.

Today, at Sunday afternoon, packed, no seat available, except 2 table outside the store which is very hot because the weather and there is no air conditioner 😬 The coffee itself is bold and strong. Love it, except when it busy hour prepare to experience nothing.

It was really easy to find this cafe. It was near MRT station so it was very convenient. The thing I liked most was that they open at 8 AM, earlier than many coffee shop in Singapore. It was really quiet and warm. They had many tables for customers to sit or convenient corners to work. I ordered their special drink which was Sweet little rain. It looked beautiful with small cloud made of Cotton candy and it made a small rain to my cup of coffee later when I put it over my hot coffee. Coffee was black coffee, it smelled and tasted really good. But the rain made it a little bit messy around the cup. Staff was friendly

Good coffee but bad customer service by the staff manager!! Rest room was closed so have to walk over to bugis plus, and took a phone call just outside the cafe. To my astonishment, she ordered the staff to clear my table with some of my belongings without my permission! When confronted, not apologetic, or even a decent explanation except that the cafe is full house, they needed the table for other customers!!!! Am i not a customer too!!??? Defintely a lousy example to her staffs. Sad that such a cafe has manager like that.

A really chill place to hangout when its quieter. The menu is extensive enough to please a crowd and there are some creative coffees. The coffee portions are generous but they also cost a tad more. Small details like how the coffee cup handles well and real dessert forks are plus points. We had the Earl Grey lavender cake which was light and delicious. The coffee however, was just average.

Really cool chill coffee shop. They also have food for quick bite lunches. The staff was super friendly and they also have free WiFi with purchase. There’s an upstairs that’s a good spot for studying and quiet time. Definitely try this place out if you are in Singapore. There is another location that’s smaller and doesn’t serve the signature coffee options.

Found this place on the net whilst thinking about where to go for breakfast. It wasn't far from the Carlton Hotel, just a short walk. The coffee wasn't too bad although I'm used to more robust blends. I had a croissant with it but they didn't have butter. No butter at a cafe?? Anyway, free WiFi was good and I was able to download offline maps for the days adventure.

  • 4/5 Zz Z. 4 years ago on Google
Very good western style coffee latte no complaints especially appreciated the unique coffee art I had never seen before... The cake I tasted was a kind of chocolate mousse...way too sweet and rich for me personally but my friend liked it. It's a bit overly busy with long wait and queue times on weekends and they could have more comfy seating and cleaner bathroom but was a decent escape from the pouring rain.

The staff accosted me to order another item after I have ordered, with the reason that I was staying there for too long. I pointed out that there was sufficient space and the staff confronted me with "but if there is a queue then you have to leave ah". So its a pay per hour policy? Last I checked this is a cafe, not a restaurant. What a joke. Tell your customers before they commit to such a policy eh?

    1) So-so the drinks 2) Worst Service experiences for a cafe! Ordering- no hello, no thank you, sulky faces throughout. Coffee- The barista forgot to add the ingredient and I bring back the drink to them, not a word of “oh I forgot apologies “ Experience- yes we are done eating/drinking, the person just came immediately to our table to remove the cups and plates without looking at us. At least acknowledging people or say “excuse me, can I take these away?” Even hawker center cleaning aunties can do better job yo...

Good, cozy place to get your coffee fix. Local brand with modern interior. Place is fully air conditioned. Crowds were youngsters with a good mix of office folks and tourists. Their signature ondeh x latte (ondeh is a kind of sweet mochi with liquid palm sugar at the core, native to Malaysia/Indonesia/Singapore) was pretty dope, although you can't ask for reduced sweetness (it's premixed). Wait time was okay, as we visited during off peak hour.

I came there at 3pm on a weekday to work. I sat on the second floor. I was too busy, urban and loud compared to other cafés I went to work in Singapore. I first sat on a corner where the table was too low. Then I moved to what I consider the best seat on the café - on a narrow table by the window. The tables were never cleared or cleaned up, it was quite disgusting and I had to do it myself. My Sencha green tea was too small - just one cup of hot water instead of the usual teapot which makes for 2 cups. You also have to go order downstairs. Overall, not a good experience for work cafés in Singapore.

Sunday coffee start before heading to church. This large coffee house opposite the National Library boasts premium sourced single origin coffee-> reflected in the price. The space is large, though food and snack selection not as great as institutions of a similar vein. Tip: if working, the upstairs area has workbenches and communal tables. Coffee is good-> which is their raison d'etre. The buttery croissant was served cold, even after a warm sauna in the oven to heat up. You have to ask for a code for wifi access, and it’s only for one device. For coffee-holics, or those wanting a workspace in the area, or rest for the weary feet, rather than destination for posh brunch or food. Atmosphere is muted rather than festive

Decent coffee and the food (sandwiches, cakes) are pretty good but overpriced in my opinion. Google recommended this place to me as laptop friendly, but I wouldn't call it that - the wifi is pretty slow (7 Mbps), and they only allow you to connect to one device per purchase, giving you a handwritten temporary password. There is also a 2 hour limit per purchase, but that's understandable. Overall it's a nice cafe, but I wouldn't call it laptop friendly.

The coffee is great but the staff on that day (monday afternoon) was rude. I asked if I could have iced water on the side and they didn’t even reply but gave me an unhappy look and placed the water on the counter and walked away. I noticed they were however very friendly and nice to a western-looking customer. Really weird.

Effete poseurs overpaying for cheap generic food and beverage bought from grocery down the road. You can tell from the applauding reviews here what a posturing bunch keeps this business going. Avoid. Unless you taitai nothing better to do with the cash. Staff underpaid overworked wannabes, try to be nice please.

Ambience is super nice, it’s a very spacious cafe where you can comfortably do work or have a meeting. Only got the flat white and the salted caramel latte - do not order the latte LOL it was very artificially sweet and milky.

  • 4/5 Sandra 3 years ago on Google
Iconic n popular among tourists especially. Coffee prices r on d higher side. With SMM, d cafe is filled up quite fast. Order-taking is always fast here, while coffee-making is kinda slowER. On d day I visited, as I occupied a seat nearer to d entrance, there were actually customers waiting for seats standing next to me. -1 star coz I felt this wasn't acceptable with current SMM. Wld prefer a staff to man d q system once d seats were filled up.

Usually crowded, and allow 1hour only which i think reasonable. Love their coffee especially flatwhite, it’s still a little pricey compare to others.

Lovely latte. This is a chain from China, and it serves surprisingly good coffee. I found the coffee to be much better than chains like Starbucks, Coffee Bean et al....

Commendable coffee quality but I can get similar product and ambience elsewhere for 20% lower price. Predominantly Chinese crowd and if D&I is worth anything to this company, it requires an upgrade before being phased out soon.

  • 5/5 Nigel L. 2 years ago on Google
Had the rosy nose and sweet little rain. Rosy has a nice and non-sweet fragrance which tastes really smooth and complex, not the syrupy kind. Sweet little rain is just coffee but the presentation makes for a great picture. I recommend this place if you can sit for awhile and can afford it.

Did not get the fundamentals right. Double espresso was extremely sour and acidic, probably extracted at too low a temperature. Cappuccino had too much milk in proportion to the coffee, with a thick creamy layer of foam on top. Almost like a latte with a thick head of foam, instead of a properly proportioned cappuccino. After reading all the dazzling reviews, was extremely disappointed that the brews were more akin in quality to the mass market green brand.

my go to café in this area if I want a better than average latte. the ambience is moody good thou I wish their dough and pastry is as good. it doesn't look appetizing and tickle my taste bud yet. still a good chillax place to coffee and shy away the heat on a lazy afternoon.

Great coffee with a lovely ambience! I enjoyed the outdoor seats that are still nicely sheltered. Unfortunately the second floor was closed off during my visit due to safe-distancing measures; so do note the noise levels when it's crowded, especially because of the low ceiling. Nonetheless, Mellower is a must-visit! :)

Went to the one at Bugis, no seats available inside and outside, was told queue outside until they call me. One couple came just when a customer left, the girl went to chope and the guy went to order. I questioned the staff why they let them sit without queuing. They gave excuses of being busy etc. Obviously they were not screening their customers properly and was negligent in checking the queue, they were supposed to lead customers to the tables, and not let them jump queue. What's the point in making the couple give up their seats to me? It's embarrassing and unpleasant for both them and me. Obviously this seating system doesn't work and the staff ought to be more vigilant. No coffee tastes good enough to compensate for poor service and unpleasant experiences. The solution is so simple to me. Just put a notice on every table that says "Please join the queue and wait to be seated." then at the counter, staff will first ask if they were from the queue before checking for available seats, then taking the orders and leading them to their seats. There are also simple solutions for damage control which I will not mention here.

Other than doing typical coffees well, they also have good adventurous creations, like the Ondeh latte (ondeh ondeh plus espresso) and the Goth latte (bamboo plus charcoal). It’s a good place to chill and talk with friends. Bugis has many good cafés, but this one is a welcome new addition. Edit: I went back a few times. I enjoy the flat white and the cakes too. I like the coconut tart. Service is good.

Such a bad experience at this cafe. Service staff came to us and said you have 10 minutes and I need this table back. I mean our cake and drink was only half through, and your staff could have properly and nicely mentioned that you need the table due to whatever reason you had, instead of rudely staring at us and warning “you have 10 minutes left???

Came here only for their artisan coffee. Super duper pretty coffee, only certain outlets serve these artisan coffee. Bugis one has it, the one at raffles and orchard doesn’t. Taste wise, not that nice, black coffee, I can’t take super acidic beans, but just like it because it’s so pretty. Only for the looks yes, gals being gals, can’t hardly want everything, the price is pretty standard, slightly expensive because of the cotton candy I suppose. Can get crowded on weekends.

Their burnt cheese cake is very delicious! I had ordered affogato as well, which is okay unless you like corn flake (I wish they just go plain with coffee and ice cream, but they add some kid's corn flake instead). My friend had matcha latte which she said was good also. I wish they do more regular cleaning as some table are quite sticky. The atmosphere is good.

Strong tasty coffee in a mild Japanese vibe cafe (modern manga style wall decor, classical music in the background, cute presentation of coffee, you get the idea). Half self-service, you order at the counter, get a buzzer, pick up your drinks then put away used cups n trays later yourself. Drinks are ready fast though. Iced ondeh ondeh latte is delish, if you don’t care about price ($9.8), and calories! It is essentially an espresso shot nicely balanced out by milk, sugar, heavy cream, and the right amount of ondeh flavor. I was glad I didn’t order a cake to go with it. Probably a good cafe to study, work or chill. 90 min dining limit but I don’t think it is enforced, because I see quite a few people with laptops who were there before me and didn’t seem to be leaving soon when I left. The staffs were too busy to police dining time anyway.

Fame coffee has become a regular place for myself to come down and chill between clients or even get some work done on my iPad. Really nice environment with different seating arrangements to accommodate for your party or preference. The friendly staff will take note of your name and your regular order if you come in enough. Shout out to the staff like Sha for knowing my “regular” didn’t ever think I’d have a usual or regular anywhere till now 😂

Took over the Mellower Coffee’s spot just right beside Bugis+. The layout and interior is largely similar - still as cosy, relaxed and spacious. More marketing is probably needed to draw back the old crowd. It’s a great spot to rest and enjoy a coffee or snack with a couple of friends or colleagues post lunch. The staff is friendly but still taking time to operationalize the order and coffee making process for now. Variety is there but quality of coffee is average, hopefully for now as the business picks up and R&D comes along.
