Overnight, the supermarkets were flooded with all sorts of "white coffee". While other brands have come and gone, one remains a popular brand, and that is Old Town... About 20 years ago, the white coffee craze from Malacca, Penang and other parts of Malaysia suddenly became super popular in Singapore. Overnight, the supermarkets were flooded with all sorts of "white coffee". While other brands have come and gone, one remains a popular brand, and that is Old Town White Coffee. It also happens to be my favourite coffee. A few years after the "white coffee" invasion, Old Town opened their cafe. Not only can you buy the coffee directly from the cafe, you can also savour a cuppa. During the early days, they had quite an extensive menu of yummy Malaysian food like Ipoh Hor Fun, Nasi Lemak, Roti Prata and even toast. Over the years, sadly, their standard seemed to have plummeted. Today, the menu merely consists of a few tired-looking items. The Ipoh Hor Fun was a disappointment, and was really bland. The fried wantons were a disaster; it had so much filler and practically no meat. The Nasi Lemak was a disturbing mix of good and bad; the rice was meh, the curry chicken had a lot of blood, and the sambal was so-so. However, the curry broth was really flavourful, and the whole dish was saved by the star - the super crispy, crunchy and tasty Ikan Bilis that left me wanting more. My hot chocolate was super gao, and could do with more milk. I'm really sad that the once happening place has come to this stage. If the owners are serious about it, then they need to seriously consider revamping their menu.

The service at Old Town Coffee (Novena Square mall) was good. I'm not too sure about the menu all being digital on a phone app link though. Not everyone has mobile data plan or mobile internet to be able to order via an online menu (I myself personally do not use mobile data all the time). Sometimes, the phone may not be working well too. There are many situations in which one's phone cannot work, be it technical or mobile plan reasons. Many older people also do not carry phones or don't know how to use mobile internet, hence they use their ICs to check in for their SAFE ENTRY location records. For this reason alone, I'm deducting 1 Star from the rating. I ordered the chicken noodle + Kaya butter toast + a honey lemon drink. My dissatisfaction: 1) The honey lemon drink came HOT, when I ordered a cold drink 2) The chicken was hard and dry 3) The noodle sauce was very little, making the noodles very dry. What's Good: 1) The sunny side up fried egg was cooked well. 2) The Kaya butter toast was light and crispy good 3) The Bai Cai green vegetables were cooked just nice and not undercooked or overcooked. 4) The service is good. I normally give 5 star ratings for restaurants, but unfortunately, I've to be honest in my review about Old Town Coffee. To the management: - Please don't try to save money by taking away your physical menus. If you really must go digital, learn from other restaurants like Sushiro and Genki sushi that have iPads/Tablets for ordering food at every table. You will LOSE customers using this phone app menu. I honestly wanted to walk out of the restaurant once I learned that the food had to be ordered via a mobile phone app/link.

I paid S$26 for a Nasi Lemak, Ipoh Chicken Hor Fun and an Iced Coffee C. I find the price expensive. Acceptable service.

The space is big, seating is ample, service is responsive and.. ya that's about it. If you are here for their white coffee, you are in for a treat since it's aromatic and even offer sugar-free option (kudos to that) and tastes better than yakun (subjective). But when it comes to the food.. I tried the toasted and steamed bread value set and boy does it suck. The eggs are not that hot, the toasted bread is not that crispy, the steam bread is not even steaming hot and the butter and kaya is not spread abundantly on the inside. The kaya is also overly sweet. So if you are looking to get your carbo-hit throughout the day, I would head to yakun and avoid old town... Honestly the saving grace is their white coffee so maybe I'm dumb for not heeding their brand name and getting only their core offering..

Nice vintage looking place with some great coffee and snacks. Good for a quick bite while shopping at the Novena square. Do try the old town salted Caramel hot coffee. It's really good.

Watery eggs & tea served way before the toast. 3 tables permanently “reserved for staff only” yet paying customers limited to 60 min. They should set there priorities right work on service timing and attitude. Overpriced compared to Ya Kun and others!

Can't believe that staff takes up 3 reserved tables for themselves. Better yet, the manager takes a good long nap in front of customers Taken during noon on a Saturday Go figure

Food is average and service is worst. They served frozen processed prawns for the prawn mee (bee hoon). U need to leave within 60mm. There is service charge here. Can be noisy with many family gathering and kids.

Run of the mill food quality, with food tasting like it was freshly microwaved. Nasi lemak was decent though it was overpriced at $7.90++ with hardly any ingredients. Curry chicken taste like it came out of a can and microwaved. Noodles soup didn’t have too much flavour to it. Food is just overpriced - kopi O at $3.70 and ice lemon tea at $5.30 seem too much to pay for considering the kind of establishment this is. One can find better food options in the same building.

Food - very so so, not impressive, the nasi lemark rice has no coconut taste, too wet and salty. Mixing with poppadom is a bit strange. The kopi o again no coffee taste but a bit sour. Service and environment is good - so is buy for comfort but not good food quality.

Overall not bad, but not great either. The brown toast Kaya was yummy. Service is subpar and slow, and bench sets are unusually close the tables, and the tables have heavy duty metal legs, so you are almost guaranteed to hit them or have to climb over them as you try to slide into the bench seat... Very awkward

The food taste is not fantastic, can be better, hainanese chix is quite oily and noodle is quite tasteless.. but this is the only place that has seats probably, during lunch time.

Really maximised their yield on the bread by keeping some of the ends! The scan and order function requires your email address so they can sell it! Service is more charming than expected though.

OLDTOWN Prawn Meehoon Mee The taste of the soup is not too thick and delicious. Compared to the Prawn Mee from Penang Culture, Oldtown version is lighter. Both are tasty. If you prefer heavy taste, then go for Penang Culture version. This restaurant is call OLD TOWN. and Most of the services staff are also "old people". And you know the communication style and skills from old people...is lousy! For food, I think it will suite most of the people. But for services, do not expect so much.

This Is a menu ordering restaurant, food is good but expensive. service is poor, when we made a wrong order, ordered WAN TAN NOODLES SOUP instead of dry, waiter made no effort to change. The white coffee is good, but alas service is poor

Friendly and welcoming staff! Food is amazing. Must try Asam Laksa! My now favourite. Price wise is affordable and okay for now.Ambience is warm and comfortable, with a clean and tidy restaurant. We can see through the kitchen via their kitchen hole and it gives me assurance that the chef/sous chef knows what they are doing and not sitting around. The ground staff is also helpful and always has a smile on her face! Will definitely return!

Wife ordered a bowl of Assam Laksa expecting the same authenticity as what you would expect from a well-established brand like Old Town. Unfortunately, she was extremely disappointed with her bowl. The assam lacked taste, seemed watered down and even the requested prawn paste (to add flavor to the already terrible bowl) was watered down. Expected better from them.

Went for a quick coffee and a few snacks. The usual white coffee, fries, toast and garlic toast. Garlic toast tasted a bit light on the garlic. The rest were great. Service was really good and fast. The place was clean. Ordering and payment were smooth through qr code and mobile phone. Everything was good.

After finished our food, we still have drinks left, yet the staff keep coming to our table and chased us out. And even can lectured my colleague. What type of service is this that the staff can lectured my colleague.

Lively place ☀️ with tasty signature coffee ☕️ Thanks to Ben Lim, Janet and other colleagues for their friendly and hospitable nature 🙏🏻💙 this is an indoor eatery worth visiting if you are working or visiting nearby. Asam Laksa and the various Nasi options are all delectable as well 🤍

Don't come. The food is terrible. The coffee was dilute and tasted bland, the teh tarik tastes and looks like drain water. The curry chee chong fun was a sorry excuse of a dish, and the kaya toast honestly any kopitiam could have done better. We didn't finish our food and left halfway. I doubt even a dog would eat our leftovers. Service was non existent. This is why tipping is better than a 10% flat service charge. I wouldn't have given a single cent.

Coffee and tea are ok, but toast is not great. I do not recommend the french toast with peanut butter - it’s like putting a spoonful of oil into your mouth. Hainanese butter sugar toast is quite nice.

Oldtown White Coffee is a good place to drink coffee and eat local delights. The Coffee is on the strong and sweet side because it's white coffee. Seats are comfortable. Aircon is a bit cold but it's ok.

Novena Sq 2 branch is spacious and nice. Staff is polite and nice. Soft-boiled egg was very watery. Have to ask for a replacement which was a big improvement. The single piece of toast was a little thin. $7 for the whole set is on the expensive side. The black coffee was not very nice. I had better ones elsewhere. Had a better experience in the past.

Egg shell found in soup of Chicken Hor Fun (which have no eggs), informed manager but didn't seemed to be responsive nor interested.

assam laksa taste abit diluted . ingredients are little for a bowl of 10 dollar the chicken hor fun taste like the hospital food next door , very plain with few strip of meat and the prawn are so over boiled the noodles is too soft the coffee taste acceptable

The Ice coffee is decent. Food is decent, pricing is slightly on the high side for the quality served. Customer service is good! My friend CK say the hot coffee’s caffeine is not pronounced. There is a unpleasant aftertaste

The servers are very nice but the food is ಠ益ಠ Chicken hor fun - bland and incredibly overpriced Dry chili pan mee - the sambal is amazingly tasteless, no flavour just spice, I like the noodle texture but overall it was absolutely not worth White coffee - decent I guess

Food only served when I asked to cancel order after 20 mins of waiting in shop for nothing. It wasn't really crowded with many customers. Surprisingly, the food wasn't served hot too. Never expected such poor customer service from OldTown!

I'm not sure how to begin this. Can I just say I was expecting to eat something mind blowing for the price and reputation Old Town holds still over the years. Beautifully presented Nasi Lemak, but didnt finish with a clean plate.

The white coffee no longer that rich, thick white coffee. :C Disappointed. Hor fun also a bit tasteless.

Ordered curry puff and nuggets. Highly disappointing. The potato in the curry puff was cold. How is it the chef/cook can't even fry a simple curry puff. The nuggets were also not at all nice. Very disappointing!
