Went on a weekday afternoon around 3pm+, hence there was no one in the restaurant. Uncle sitting outside the restaurant welcomed us in immediately and took our orders. Short waiting time. The Hainanese pork chop was very authentic, chicken chop was great. Ice lemon tea not too sweet. Uncle served a complimentary dessert towards end of the meal. $27 in total. Good service and reasonably priced. Will be back again.

Oxtail stew at $30 got you a big portion served with potatoes and mix vegetables. It was flavourful and meat was tender. Highly recommend this. Chicken chop a sizeable portion with mushroom sauce was tender and juicy. Chicken pie with an old school taste, reminiscent of Hainanese coffee houses in the 70s, is a must-order. It came with big chunks of tender chicken with melt- in- mouth potato and carrot pieces. We were given complimentary grass jelly for dessert. A lovely surprise! Would like to come back to try the local dishes the next time.

I think this was the coffee house that i used to patronize whenever I went to movies at the now torn down Prince Theatre. The setting now is more towards coffeeshop than coffee house, they may have aircons but it struggle to keep out the temperature outside due to their open entrance concept. The Hainan Pork Chop Rice was well presented and good portion but taste wise not as refine as their price suggest. The add-on 4 course set(drink/soup/toast/desert) for $5 looks value on paper but in reality rather pathetic except for the ice-tea, I shd stick to just ordering the ice-tea for $3. Try to get a seat as inside as possible while the owner-uncle though friendly would by default try to fill up the tables from outer to inner. My table that was near the entrance was very stuffy, it was when i walked in to make payment that I realised it was another world just a few steps in.

Food was great and portions were generous, albeit with a slightly more than average lunch price tag. Uncle was friendly and still continues to bake his pies and cakes even during these times. Will be back again to try the yam cake and chicken pies :) Edit:Set lunches are not available for takeaway. Edit 2: Came back to try the chicken pie and it's as good as what the other reviews praised it to be. Pie was filled with creamy mashed potatoes, mushrooms, carrots and chicken chunks. Flecks of herbs run through the mash to give it an interesting enough flavour while not being too overpowering. Review still stands at 5 stars :)

Food is nice. Old school food. They give free fruit cut and cincau as well. Uncle is patience enough to explain the various pies he is selling too.

Finally visited this long-heard restaurant. Maybe I put a High expectation before visit, thus I found not deserved 5 stars. Food taste a bit Light on the mushroom soup and pork chop, coffee also. However, boss and staff are friendly. Restaurant ambience also quite retro. Worth to visit.

If not for Google Map, I would not have known this place existed as I literally walked part this place numerous times and never noticed its existence. Being a Hainanese, this place struck a chord in me that I felt compelled to pay the place a visit. It’s a very old school place - the deco, the music, the cutlery, the food, and so many other things. It will bring you back to the 70s and 80s. I also find it interesting that they have 187ml wine which fits nicely for a pax to enjoy with the meal.

Prince Coffee House is one of my childhood haunts. Back when it was at Coronation Plaza, we uses to dine here every Sunday after church. When I found out they had closed I was quite upset. To my surprise they had moved to this new location. Took my friend here and she was surprised by how nostalgic all the food tasted. I ordered the grilled chicken chop for old times sake and everything was just as I remembered, absolutely delicious. Right down to the plate and table setting, it threw me back to all those times I was a child. Definitely coming back here again. Also, very happy to see all the staff that worked here when I was a child are still here! 💖 Also, don't forget the $5 set upgrade that includes mushroom soup, drink and chin chow dessert! :D

My hubby brought me here for lunch yesterday. We ordered Set Meals for Hainanese Pork Chop Rice and Grilled Chicken Chop to include a bowl of soup and a drink then we ordered a Chicken Pie to share. The chicken pie is extremely tasty and it is handled personally by the owner himself. It is a must-try dish! 👍🏻 The service staff are the owner and mainly family members of the owner himself. They are friendly. The atmosphere here is nostalgic and the decor here is retro and classic at the same time. Overall rating for their food, service and atmosphere is 5/5 stars.

08 Oct 22’ Recommended through friends; we had our gathering lunch here, I realised from the boss, there were at coronation plaza which I have visited, I still remember my favourite dishes there was; 玉兰鸡 & oyster 🦪 eggs. Especially the 玉兰鸡, need to order at list half a hour in advance. However, they don’t serve this here. I bought their chicken pie ($10) as recommended. 👍 hard to find nowadays. If you don’t know what to choose, the boss here is very helpful in recommending. Especially their stew ox 🐂 tail, love it .

Very very hospital service staff on a rainy Sunday and were sharp eyed to remove cutlery for the kids and baby like knives to prevent accidents as well as provide a baby chair promptly. They even served our dessert and placed them away from the kids to prevent being toppled over. Food was good and homely feel and we bought the cakes to go.

We happened to pass by Prince Coffee House 2 months ago. Tried their Apple tarts and Yam cake. We love all, particularly the Yam cake. Full of ingredients, you hardly find flours. As we love local steamed Yam and carrot cakes. We also ordered their carrot cake, need to order in advance. The carrot cake is equally wonderful and we love that too. The price is very reasonable.

A vintage Hainanese Western Cuisine Restaurant that was established in 1977 lies in the heart of Arab streets, where it has served customers of various backgrounds. The whole vibe had a homey nostalgic blast to the past. They serve a variety of Western and hainanese asian cuisine as well. 💧 Water is not complimentary Here are what we had: ----------- 🐂 Prince's Special Ox Tail Stewed ($32+) The condiments and marinade used for the Ox Tail were seeped into the meat. Deep rich flavours of beef. Meat is tender such that it falls off the bone. Flavourful Gravy was not too thick or watery and coats the oxtail and potatoes, giving them good moisture. Lightly seasoned boiled veggies were given at the side, too. I rate: 4.5/5 🌟 🐖 Grilled Pork Chops ($15+) Contrary to popular opinions, this was too hard for me. 3 thin slices of bone-in pork chops were lightly seasoned with pepper and some herbs and drenched in flavourful gravy. Pork was really tough to cut and was overcooked. Served with halved grilled potato and lightly seasoned boiled vegetables. I rate: 3/5 🌟 🍲 Add on +$5 as a set with mains to get 1 soup (French Onion/ Mushroom Cream), Drink, and dessert. Both soups were only served halfway up the bowl. It's very watery and cheap tasting with stock. Coffee was so bad that I discarded it. Dessert was grass jelly that had no flavour. I rate: 0/5 🌟 🐔 Chicken Pie ($10+) Oh, this was truly a highlight. Didn't expect the pot pie was so huge. It feeds about 4 people and is heavily stuffed with potatoes, flaky chicken cubes, and carrots in creamy white roux. It is topped with a butter flaky pastry on the top. It was gloopy, savoury, rich, and homey. I rate: 4.5/5 🌟

A fun place with lovely, friendly owners. I came at 4:30pm which is an odd time for dinner, but they have continuous service. I really enjoyed the sweet and sour chicken, and brightened up the calmingly bland tofu claypot. I also had fried rice because really, what is “too much” for one person? 🤷🏻‍♀️ The auntie who brought my food suggested I order less next time and then gave me grass jelly for dessert 😆 Feels very homely for a slightly homesick traveller. Will be back!

During CB there was an article about this place and finally here I am. Overall enjoyed my lunch and conversation there. Food was great but service was impressive, friendly and sincerely Ox tail stew was heavenly good. Down side was a bit on the pricey side and French onion was a let down. First impression was it’s gonna be a warm place, apparently I was wrong. It’s actually air condition you just need to be in the deeper part of the restaurant. It was a cosy setting. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 Uncle’s welcome was kind sincere. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 I have to say that the price tags feels kind of high for me. Nonetheless we order 2 french onion soup $4.50 which was a major let down 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼 Comes with garlic bread which was perfection 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 The Hainan pork chop rice was good, crunchy and flavorful but still I feel it couldn’t justify the price tag. 👍🏼👍🏼 The highlight was the Ox tail stew $30, the moment it came, I knew it’s gonna be great! Soft, moist comes with all the Godly yummy words!! I enjoyed it very much. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 Auntie did serve us free desert which was a pleasant surprise. 👍🏼👍🏼 Bought their Yam cake $12 for me it was so so. But uncle pack it with chilli, shallots, fried onions and with lots of 💕.

Near Haji Lane, this nostalgic Hainanese kopitaim bring me back to the 80s with the various stars poster on the wall. First time here, but knowing the Hainanese used to be cooks for the brits back in the days. They have picked up the cooking skills and localised to what we are familiar with, Western meals. We order chicken chop, fish and chips, steak, and ikan that was being recommended. I like the classic chicken chop and steak. The meals are what I have expected it to be. If you are looking for that 80s feeling and craving some western food. Then here with the radio playing vintage songs and the poster might be what you are looking for. Come "chiah".

Service: good (the uncles & aunties are very nice pple), Atmosphere: old school setting, Price: reasonable We order grilled chicken chop lunch set, seafood noodle soup & beef hor fun. The portion for the chicken chop is reasonable in size, it comes with soup, garlic bread, drink and one dessert. The taste reminds you of old sch style western food. Seafood noodles is light on taste, big portion and comes with big & chunky seafood (2x fish slices, 2x prawn & 2x sotong). The portion beef hor fun is slightly bigger than those at zhi char stall. Worth going back again to try othet stuff.

Nostalgic reunion with a coffee house I used to go as a teen when it was at Coronation Plaza. Their cash register survived the moved, as well as their famous Hainanese pork chop, beef hor fun and chicken pie. There are tons of pics here with nice presentation but I chose to show pics of the food before they are finished so you can zoom in on the ingredients instead of just a mass of food. Pork chop taste is like sweet and sour zi char, chicken pie is nice and creamy with chunks of carrots and chicken.

A nostalgic place with authentic hainanese food Pork chop set (3.75) The pork chop was pretty tender and juicy, especially the meat near the bone, it might not be so friendly for those who dont like bones on their meat. The sauce was not overpowering either, with the traditional garlic based sauce. The sides was pretty nice, the veggies was sauted in stock broth and the potatoes was deliciously done. However the soup was a disappointment, no taste at all, too much flour and the soup base was not flavourful enough. The garlic bread was pretty well done, just a tad of sea salt will make this a house favourite. 😊 You could choose barley and lemon tea, I choose barley and to my surprise, it has the silky beancurd skin in it, wish it had abit more beancurd skin 🤣 There was a special treat of dessert, watermelon or glass jelly, their watermelon rocks!! Sweet and juicy.

The lighting of the shop is not very attractive, nor the menu. But the food was really simple and good. I like how everything was done properly and honestly. The hand cut potato wedges was beautifully done, soft and flavoursome on the inside and slightly crispy on the outside. The lemon tea was a lovely homemade flavour from decades ago and very enjoyable. The chicken pie was full of chunky generous filling and puff pastry was very buttery and crispy without being too oily. Will have to go back soon to try the rest of the menu. Thank you!

If you’re a tourist and wanting to know how the average Singaporeans eat, this is the place! It is affordable (all my food cost me SGD$11!), gives a good range of local delights, and the service is just nostalgic old-style singaporean service. The owner of the establishment is friendly (doesn’t speak much english though) and happy to chat if you know some chinese. I felt so comfortable and at home here. Highly recommend. P.S. The ceramic plates are apparently 50 years old!

Those borned in the 80's would probably feel nostalgic seeing the table setting in this eatery. It's the same as one would find when they go into a western restaurant back in those days (think Ponderosa, Sizzlers, etc). Very cozy ambience & the uncle is very friendly & sincere. Beef horfun is really full of wok hei & the beef slices are tender & flavorful. Hainanese Pork Chop is well marinated & crispy, though it's a little bit thin. The ox-tail stew is wonferfully done & the sauce is very addictive. Was offered choice of watermelon cubes or grass jelly at the end of the meal which was a nice surprise. The quality of the food is excellent, comforting & satisfying. The portion might seems small visually but is just sufficient for individual serving. The price point might seems a bit pricey (due to the perceived small portion) but the quality of the food certainly justify it.

Got their steak set lunch - was super delicious and filling!! Find their lunch sets very worth it, especially for the area they are located at. Uncle was super nice, he even gave us a slice of his homemade chicken pie which was so good? The filling was really generous, will come back for it! Also found out the prices of the food haven’t changed much since 2010s which is quite rare these days. Thank you Uncle and Auntie for keeping things affordable!! Also ordered more apple pie from them because my family loved the last one I brought home - the perfect Christmas dessert!!

Been here since the days of my adolescence, since the days when they were in coronation plaza. That unmistakably hainanese sauce drenched over generous portions of chops, creamy mushroom soup of their own unique recipe, and delectable hor fun, gives way into an atmosphere of old time Singapore, and a taste of home. Thank you for watching me grow up.

Nice food! Uncle service is always wonderful price is reasonable! Food portion is big! Will come back again! The grass jelly is not sweet! My intention was to visit an old-school Hainanese Western food but little did I expect that this was such a popular spot for Taiwan and Hong Kong celebrites in the 70s when it was located at Shaw Towers!  Photos of 秦汉,林青霞,林凤娇,周丹薇,成龙,刘文正… and the list goes on! The owner said these stars patronised his cafe after their performance at the National Theatre.  Prince Coffee House has a long and rich history. The uncle/owner told me that I was using the same plate which has been used to serve all his customers for over 40 years! Tried the Hainanese Western pork chop and pork chop rice. Da-pow the famous chicken pie (Makansutra recommended). Will come back for the Oxtail Stew.

It was a impromptu visit for our dinner at this 70s' coffee house when we are exploring the area plus tired and needed a place to rest. Was not expecting much but a good traditional place for my nice coffee. Foods was just average nothing fanciful and coffee was too bland. What makes me happy to give 4 stars was the owner uncle service. He was so nice, friendly, giving us a really warm to heart feeling eating there just like home. He was telling us about the history about the coffee house and I can tell that he is a very happy man with achievement. Try it once, will return not for the foods but for his kindness, friendliness and heartfelt feeling. Thank you for making us feeling home. Serene Heng IG @mommyserene FB @serenehengheng

had the chicken cutlet. it was soooo fresh and the batter so fragrant, I didn't mind it adopting the original taste (tasteless to some so owner gives u salt and pepper to increase intensity of the flavor to your own liking). although the fries were clearly from some frozen pack...it was so good la! even the coffee was good. I mean... how did they make regular filter pot coffee taste this great!???!!!! the meal was so unspeakably delicious that I was emboldened to takeaway the chicken pie. dear gawd it was the best chicken pie I have eaten in my life!!!! Im definitely returning as well as bringing friends over, not to mention buy the pies as gifts!!!!!

Run by hospitable aunties and uncles. Yummy, big portions at reasonable prices (for an establishment in this part of the city). Come here for Chinese food or Hainanese Western food (pork chop, fish & chips, oxtail stew etc). They also have chicken pie but for takeaway only. They give you free grass jelly dessert, even when I did takeaway!

I used to eat in this restaurant when it was in Bukit Timah as a child and had fond memories of the place. We had an ox tail stew, a steak and a Hainanese Pork Chop Rice. All 3 dishes were delicious and the taste authentic to local Hainanese Coffee House cooking. With an additional $4 we had a drink and a soup, garlic bread and a chin chow dessert at the end. Overall it didn't disappoint for its authentic taste and ambience, hence the 5 stars.

Went twice recently and tried Hainanese Pork Chop, Beef Horfun n Oxtail Stew. Bought home both Chicken pie n Apple pie too. The Hainanese Pork Chop was fresh hot and crispy. The sauce had the right balance of sweet and sour. Beef Horfun came with a load of wok hei n it was truly yummy. The Oxtail Stew was a rare gem...meaty with the meat falling off the bone nicely but not too soft, and the sauce was flavorful and also reduced to the thickness which perfectly stays on the meat. The price was steep though one has to understand the kind of preparation work and time behind to make this dish deliciously perfect, and there were 2 huge and 2 small pieces for each plate. Recommended to share between 2. The chicken pie filling was moist but the crust wasn’t as flaky and buttery as I had preferred. As for the Apple pie it’s nicer to eat with ice cream as I found the cookie crust a bit dry.

The owners are very friendly.

This brand has been around since the 70s visited by several celebrities from HK/TW back then. This place serves Western and local food with a nostalgic taste. They've started to sell pies, cakes and yam cakes on a takeaway basis, and it often sells out fast. If you are looking for a no frills local food, this is somewhere you should check out.

Owner of the shop is quite nice, 14 dollar for a chicken chop. 4 dollar for set with mushroom soup and bread. I didn't order extra stuff but he automatically offer me garlic bread free of charge and dessert or fruits. He also gave me free ice water even i didn't ask for it 👍🏻. Apparently this coffee house is like 50 years old. Instead of servicing fries for the chicken chop they gave a healthier option baked potato instead and its quite nice.

Yam cake is crazily delicious, generous with yummy ingredients. Taste amazing steamed or panfried.

This place used to be well known for hainanese pork chop and other grills and traditional hainan food. The pork chop was still as good as ever as were the roast potatoes mixed with the mushroom sauce. Was pleasantly surprised when uncle nudged me to take a free dessert. Chose the grass jelly over the watermelon tho I would have liked and gladly paid for both - together.

A very old restaurant. If u like it, it's retro and vintage. If u don't, it's just old n not upgraded. Yam cake and chicken pie r gd. Stir fry dishes n main menu r average yet v v pricey. $13.50 for a bitter gourd soup?!

Though the interior is not that much impressive, the taste of food is good. I thing that is more important. Prices are affordable. The restaurant will be crowded at lunch time. Quick and friendly service. A good place to go with family. Recommended.

Crispy yet juicy Pork chop. Reasonable price along main road of beach road discovered accidentally. Tasty Sin Chow Fried rice. Onion soup. Eastern & Western dishes. It's a famous shop for many Taiwanese, Hong Kong & Singapore actors & Actresses. Will go back try other dishes.

Love this old fashioned coffee house. They serve the hainanese western food and local delights as well. Must try their beef hor fun, hainanese pork chop. Their set meals are also good. Chicken chop was tender and juicy. They are also famous for their chicken pie and steam yam cake. Failure rubbed business with photos of stars who visited the place in the 70s.

Uncle was warm and friendly. Oxtail was so-so. Love their Hainanese pork chop rice. Portions are big. The aunties can improve her service and attitude though.

😐 This is ecstatically the best looking amongst the PS Cafes. They have a good selection of food and beverages that some might consider pricey. But their cakes and deserts are very good. It’s a great place to chill in the afternoons and also good for sundowners after a long day. It’s always a pleas...
