The one and only Natural History museum in Singapore. This place is packed filled with exhibits, animal models, specimens, and information. The full dinosaur fossils are impressive although all belongs to the Diplodocus family. Natural history enthusiasts can easily spend half a day if they are willing to read all the descriptions of the displays. The description fonts are a tad too small for easy reading. Most children will like this place but probably only for 2 hours at most due to the complexity of the information. Highly recommended to visit at least once with families or friends.

Kids love dinosaur! The three dinosaurs fossil never ceases to impress us regardless of how many times we visit. Great place to spend time with kids and toddlers, where they can learn about wildlife, sea animals and insects. A bonus is its air conditioner so parents can relax too.

Super interesting museum, the place is not big, there are two floors where you can visit. Need to book tickets in advance. Very few people on weekdays. Various animal and plant specimens, which is a good place for education. Recommend!

Very informative and interesting museum. My wife and I expected to be there for less than an hour having looked at the floor plan, which looked small. We were surprised we stayed for over 2 hours. Most of the taxidermy were on the lower side, sometimes bordering humorous. Descriptions and displays were great and easy to understand. If you're into biodiversity, then I'd definitely recommend visiting this place. I had the opportunity to visit during the parasite exhibition and was pretty grossed in a good way. Kudos!

Brought my kids (both below 5) and they thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Small museum but chock full of stuff to see. Staff were really nice too! Dino and whale bones were the highlights but there’s plenty others to see as well! A gem!

Huge space (two storeys) with plenty of information to read about. Plants, fungi, reptiles, mammals, etc. the history is also quite relevant and in Singapore’s context. There is a limited time exhibition “Death by Man” which is quite sad. It showcases death of animals that is mostly a result of human’s selfish/evil actions. And they are in Singapore’s context. Be kinder to animals!

The last time i came was few years, back again with my family and we have spend a good time here looking and understanding the exhibits. My pictures doesn’t justify my enjoyment here, while this is not the biggest or the museum with the most collections however it is definitely a good place with enough specimens for me and my family. The entry is about SGD50 for family of 4. The place is cozy, feels clean and well maintained. We joined the guided tour (free of charge) (in chinese) by a volunteer Uncle. This uncle is knowledgeable and shared many fun facts, there are some jokes or “sayings” or background that can only be understated by locals. As a local, i dont know how some saying comes about, the uncle showed my the light today. Thank you for this experience

Went on a Tuesday afternoon and there was only a couple of people so really recommended to visit on weekdays, specifically mid week! It's been a decade since I came and the exhibits are still kept in pristine condition. It's as majestic as I vaguely remembered especially the huge dinosaur bones in the middle of the museum. Real animals are kept preserved in jars so if you like animal anatomy and dissections, this is gonna be a blast for you. It's paid entry so if you're a student, it's $8 for you while adult fee is $15. There's even a NSman pricing so get it while you're either a student or serving the army!

Had been wanting to visit this museum for a while as I fancied myself an amateur naturalist and finally made some time to go. I must say it lived up to my expectation’s. The signage was informative and the displays were really well done. Favorites were the huge Saltie, the sperm whale skeleton displays. The rest of the place was also awesome. I was glad I finally went and will do so again.

We bought the tickets from Fave which gave 9% disc for kid and 18% for adults. The display is very unique and kids can learned a lot from the diversity of animals and plants. Place is not crowded and staffs are helpful. Recommend for family outings.

This natural history museum doesn't try to be overly fancy in its exhibits, but it does have a good spectrum of animals, wildlife, and plants encountered in the region. Ticket prices are on the high side if you are not an avid fan. Although there is plenty of written information, if you have younger kids, you may have to find creative ways to sustain their interest. The animal displays are well organised. Overall, I found it somewhat interesting, but information could have been presented in a "less academic" manner, e.g, highlight interesting facts and anecdotes upfront.

Singapore’s very own natural history museum. If there’s one word to describe this place, it’ll be “elegant”. Its exhibits are beautifully curated, evoking the atmosphere of an art gallery. While it caters primarily to adults with its refined design, it offers fewer interactive elements for children.

We wanted to see the dinosaur bone that’s the reason we went here. This place is amazing I have never seen a museum like this. Our kids aged 8 and 3 enjoyed every bit of it

Finally Singapore has our own Natural History Museum. Looks smaller scale as compared to overseas version but the specimens are no less impressive. The dinosaurs and Sperm Whale is obviously the centre of the draw. Other interesting facts about specimens and history of nature in this part of the world is also truly fascinating. It is a pity that time slot is limited during this Covid-19 situation. Didnt manage to complete the whole place before closing hours. Will be a nice place to bring the kids to learn more about nature world and start them on a fascinating journey on our world.

A great place to learn about natural history in the Singapore context. Many exhibits and specimens packed in the deceptively "small" (compact) museum. Can easily spend 3 h. Too much to see and learn in one visit. Will be back!

Great place to visit with kids. Not too large to be tiring and not too small. Nicely organised displays, friendly staff. Not too crowded usually, but this should be at the top of your list of museums to visit in Singapore if you have kids.

An exceptional place to visit that showcases a remarkable collection of artifacts. This destination not only offers a visually stunning experience but also immerses visitors in a world of awe-inspiring fossils of animals & dinos, plants, animals and birds and preserves. Prepare to be amazed as you explore the captivating creature on display. Each piece tells a unique story. This kids-friendly place is a treasure trove for enthusiasts and curious minds alike. Price for adult and kid was at $16 and $9 respectively, no queue upon arrival - perfect for a weekday afternoon getaway. Spacious for the kids to roam about. Would be great if the souvenir shop has more variety. We had fun, good times!

Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum is Singapore's first & only natural history museum. The museum has over 500,000 objects & over a million specimens. The collections are exciting for both children & adults. And the museum shop is full with nice products for kids. Good signage throughout the exhibition & helpful staff. The building itself exteriorly is an architectural experience & its surroundings are landscaped with native plants. It’s an iconic seven-story green building with stunning architecture. The museum displays three dinosaurs & it’s fascinating to experience them in their full natural size. They were found in a small town in the US & are believed to be part a family. The reason the History Museum has the three dinosaurs together in Singapore is due to a successful bid for the fossils two years ago for $8 million. A large part of the bill was for Mrs. Della Lee, wife of Lee Foundation Chairman Lee Seng Gee.

A very good place to gather knowledge about nature and history. Good detailing about all the animals and their origins are given. It's an amazing place to know about your favorite animal. I am amazed to see that. One can spent good 2 to 3 hours if interested to read and go through the details. Otherwise an hour is enough. Good exposure for kids to generate new and interesting thoughts.

If this collection had been properly preserved it might have been a unique world-class collection. Instead, in the 1970s, the government gave away much of it and only a bit remains. It’s still an interesting look at what early 19th century naturalists studied but is now mainly dominated by three dinosaur skeletons (yawn) from Wyoming. Outside is an appalling statue of Alfred Wallace and Ali, his very able assistant who is portrayed as a dwarfish sidekick.

The Lee Kong Chian National History Museum is a museum with a collection of over a million different plant and zoological specimens which were collected over south east Asia since 1840, some of which are the best in the world. The viewing gallery comprises of 2 floors, the main exhibit is on the first floor. There are plant and animal specimens and 2 giant dinosaur skeletons. The second floor houses the Singapore collection, which houses all the flora and fauna found in Singapore. Overall, it is a small museum compared to others, but will be satisfying to the natural history lover.

I loved it, a lot of information to learn, took me about 2hrs to walk through all, would be better if they have a designated path, from the start of life to humans so you don't jump from birds to dinosaurs suddenly. Overall worth coming at least once.

One for small kids to early teens at the oldest. The payment devices were not working when I visited so I had to purchase a ticket online via Sistic whilst standing in the Lobby. If you know when you'll be visiting, definitely buy your e-tickets in advance! Small museum in size as above the main floor with the dinosaurs, there is a small area with one display. The exhibition was shut and there was nothing else to see. Due to this, the admission price of $16 was not worth paying for.

A great way of introducing the topic of animal kingdom to children and teenagers. Though it was a lot to take in at one go .. my son really enjoyed his visit here. We actually couldn’t believe that most of these exhibits have been preserved and not just models. A very good job done here. I highly recommend this place for kids 8 and above.

Highly recommended museum in Singapore! Might be hard to access as it is located to the West (not as central) but this is good for all types of visitors, family/wheelchair friendly, perfect for an afternoon out! Visitors would gain a better appreciation for all things nature can offer, with insightful descriptions and even fossils - who would think Singapore has such a display! All in all, 9/10 and would come back again for sure.

The Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum (LKCNHM) is a natural history museum located in Singapore. It is named after Lee Kong Chian, a prominent businessman and philanthropist who donated generously towards the construction of the museum. The museum houses over 2 million specimens from the fields of zoology, paleontology, and biodiversity research, making it one of the largest natural history museums in Southeast Asia. The specimens are organized into 15 different collections, including mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, insects, and fossils. One of the highlights of the museum is the three dinosaur skeletons on display - the Prince, Apollonia and Twinky. The museum also features a large collection of Southeast Asian biodiversity, including over 2,000 species of plants, animals, and fungi found in the region. Visitors can also view specimens of extinct animals like the dodo and the thylacine, as well as a range of preserved animals like butterflies, birds, and mammals. In addition to the exhibits, the museum also offers a range of educational programs and activities for visitors of all ages. These include guided tours, workshops, and talks on topics like wildlife conservation, biodiversity research, and natural history. The museum also has a strong focus on research and conservation, with a team of scientists and researchers working to study and preserve the region's biodiversity. The museum's collections are used for scientific research and education, and the museum also collaborates with local and international organizations on conservation projects.

Do have plenty of time to spare here. Though it looks small in comparison to other Natural History museums of other countries, the vast amount of information here can minimally take you 3 hours to complete. The exhibits here are well curated, with sufficient details of each. The only gripe I have is that the lighting of some exhibits can cast a shadow on the description, thus, you have to adjust to a certain angle for proper reading. This museum does come with an interactive VR experience, however, the app that accommodates this does not support newer android phones. The museum has 2 levels and is also segmented into various categories of wildlife. There is also the mandatory gift shop at the exit. The staff were very polite and helpful. A highly recommended place to visit in Singapore.

Even though it is not a public museum(?), and the area is not so wide there are so many things to be studied, referred. Regarding the fossil of the dinosaurs, there are 1 leg of Triceratops and 3 whole fossils of Diplodocus.

OK museum, well laid out with information and some good replicas. Far too dry and non-interactive for smaller children The taxidermy and preserved specimens are hilarious in some cases as they were arranged in the early 1900s / late 1800s - look out for some superman squirrels and questionable facial expressions! Disappointing for my inner geek that not all the insects were labelled, the shop had sold out of magnets and there wasn't a cafe but good couple hours spent wandering round Foreigner $27 price tag

🌹Day of Trip-Sunday Price: $17 Local Adults and $9 3 years and above children. 🌹Getting there: Via Bus 96 from Clementi Mrt to the Museum is the best. Bus stop is less than 8 mins walk from the museum. 🌹Layout: The museum is very organised, clean and spacious. Level 1 and Level 2. 🌹Interesting: They have a Huge collection of specimens from birds, frogs, insects, fishes, sea shells, reptiles. 🌹Things to Note: Toilet is located outside the museum. Use the restroom before you enter if needed. The other restroom in the museum at level 2 is not open. 🌹The AR app clashed on my android phone multiple times and does not work.

Had an amazing time alone at the Museum. First time seing dinosaur fossils and you can actually touch some of the exposition that are allowed to touch. I think younger to grow up would love to go around. They had a special exposition which touch me a lot from how some of the animal died, but I would only recommend to adult. Have fun there!

With over 2,000 natural history specimens on display, I am totally lost in this amazing experience of nature in Southeast Asia! The museum’s three Diplodocid sauropod fossils were among the largest and heaviest animals to ever walk on land. More than 80% complete, of which two of these skeletons come with skulls – a rarity as far as sauropod dinosaurs fossils are concerned. Try snap a photo during their light shows, An Instagram boomerang will be nice. At the Heritage Gallery, you can take some great photos using portrait modes too. For those who likes outdoors, the phylogenetic garden outside will have sufficient natural sunlight for your photos :)

Has a good collection of Paleo items and a very thought out display. worth spending 2.5 - 3 hours here. The dinosaur collection and the other mammalian, reptilian collection are excellent and displayed in a very educational manner. The plants towards the end was a disappointment (more of hype when you read about it and what you find in reality). IN a nutshell, worth visiting, esp if you have young children.

This was complimentary with ticket purchase. The students really put in a lot of effort to make the game. As for the exhibits, i was really impressed with the quality of the exhibits. The museum is really spacious and we could easily spend hours here. So many things to see.

The admission fee is usually 20 SGD, but half the price is for the promotion to resume after the corona is closed. It's a pity that the interactive exhibition is suspended instead. I had a good 1.5 hours here learning about various animal species. There are two floors to the museum. On the first floor, there are informative exhibits about the various species like fungi, mammals, plants and birds. Right in the centre are also the dinosaur fossils. The second floor provides a more local flavour of biodiversity, by showcasing animal collections from Singapore.

Good place to visit if you have a couple of hours. Went on a weekday and it wasn't crowded. Booked tickets online and there were 3 slots starting 10 am, 1 pm and 4 pm. The dinosaurs are the star attraction and there was some lighting show that was interesting...

There are lots of things on exhibition. But overall it is a bit small and hard to get there. One of the easier way to get there is to take to Kent Ridge MRT and take bus 151 (or D2 if the NUS shuttle bus driver allow you to board the bus). Total time spend is around an hour plus.

Not as big as natural history museums in places like Tokyo or London, but still very interesting and includes a wide selection of exhibits. Took my 5 year old son a d we were both very satisfied. Its a place I'd happily.go back to on my own and spend a few hours.

A good museum for kids 3-10 years old. Unfortunately, some installations are off at the moment due to COVID. Some parts could also use a more didactic approach rather than academic. Presently some sections of the permanent exhibitions, and temporary spaces alike, have too much text content and it feels slightly redundant.

Visited the Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum on the weekend. They are open from wed to Sunday. 3 time slots are available each day, 10am, 1pm and 4pm. Last entry is at 6pm if I didn’t wrongly. This Museum is also easily accessible, there are shuttle bus and the nearest mrt station is kent ridge circle line station. Admission fees are clearly stated on website. They do have a session of guided tour at 1pm. If you enjoyed animals or the natural, I believed you will have enjoyed the museum as much as me. Spent closed to 2 hours in the Museum. I was really amazed by all the mounted bird and mammal specimens displayed in the Museum. The most interesting display has to the the skeleton display of the female sperm whale that was washed up to the shore of Jurong island.

My son loves dinosaurs and animals, and we found out about LKC museum through luck when I keyed in dinosaurs in Singapore. He absolutely loved the place, especially the full sized Apatosaurus skeletons that gives you the feeling of being so tiny, and flying pterosaurs (I think one of them is a Tupandactylus) hung high up. Besides the dinosaur skeletons, there are also many animal stuffings as well as insect specimens. Altogether very comprehensive and it will be a very educational visit for primary schoolers that gives relatable science-subject relatable knowledge.

Very enriching trip!! Although all the interactive exhibits had been turned off, there still plenty of interesting exhibits to keep kids engaged. But I think younger kids will be harder to manage. Do download the app from the QR code first if you don’t want to look for it in the compound. It bring the dinosaurs to live!! Can easily spend 2 hours there for young primary children if we go though everything. Awesome place to spend time with children!!

  • 5/5 Ulla M. 2 years ago on Google
Very nice and beautiful museum! Went with my 6yo, and I "lost" her to another girl the same age also with the camera. This is a place where kids are actually interested in what they are seeing. The staff was very friendly, and the expo is interesting even if due to safety restrictions some of the interactive features are closed.

Small, compact museum with a large collection of taxidermy upstairs alongside the Diplodocus family which light up in iridescent colours to impress! Children liked the bones and we played ‘guess the egg’ or ‘guess the type of insect’ with the displays. Take a break outside, have a snack, and go back in for a second round to get your money’s worth.

  • 5/5 Sid 2 years ago on Google
Love it here, love the 3 original dinosaur's skeleton especially! This museum has alot of specimens which is amazing to view and see. Really good information as well. Spent quite a while here reading and looking through all the specimens. Especially cool to see that some of these specimens are collected and found here in Singapore and there are the old notes for where exactly these specimens are found at in Singapore.

A great place for one who’s into natural history of the earth, plants, animals, etc. The exhibits and the explanation is very comprehensive. The centrepiece is the three skeleton of the dinosaurs, standing at the middle of the building. Do download the AR app and enjoy the animated view when looking at the dinosaurs. The place is not huge but will probably take you approximately two hours to cover the exhibits in brief. For those who are going in depth, you might need at least half a day there.

Really interesting to see the exhibits about nature that surrounds us. The dinosaur bones are a real treat too, but it's easy to miss the pterodactyl hanging from the ceiling though. It's very very quiet and peaceful if you go on weekdays (barring some guided tours for school kids).

  • 5/5 E T. 1 year ago on Google
Lovely experience and my toddlers enjoyed the exhibits was great explaining to them and going through the exhibits! Well done to the team who have planned, preserved and maintain all these natural historic pieces for the musuem. Would be great if kids activities could be planned in the facility as well for more engagement.

“The observer listens to nature: the experimenter questions and forces her to reveal herself” Quoted from the first modern palaeontologist, Georges Cuvier. In this archeological museum, many have learned the importance of palaeontology and its meaning to modern society. Fossils and transparent canopic jars display a variety of deceased, but well-preserved animals of every type. Varying from the exoskeleton of the tiniest insects, to the very skull of the centrally-positioned brachiosaurus presented in the museum (as intended to be the highlight of this museum). Two storeys of up-to-date and informatively written details of every fossil displayed, the curators of this museum have indeed, worked hard and are well-versed in the works of palaeontology and its sister-branches. Atmospherically, the scene maintains a clear, pure and almost serene node of calm. The air runs unpolluted and unblemished, allowing visitors to brisk through the artefacts of old. Temperatures run mildly algid, having guests leaving in relief. The service staff presented themselves warmly, allowing visitors to feel welcomed and elated to be here. In all, visiting this museum has educated me far more than what I already knew. I arrived as a husk of disheveled rumours, and I left as a relic of knowledge.

I can't decide which impresses me more: the preserved specimen or the presentation of the exhibits! This is a place where I could easily spend an entire day. Although it charges entrance fees even for locals, I find the fees quite reasonable considering the experience you'll receive in return!

  • 5/5 Audrey A. 8 months ago on Google

Nestled within the National University of Singapore, the Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum seamlessly combines state-of-the-art exhibits with a rich collection of natural wonders. Upon entering, you are immediately greeted by the imposing skeleton of the Diplodocus, setting the tone for the incredible journey ahead. The museum boasts an extensive range of exhibits, from awe-inspiring dinosaur fossils to meticulously preserved specimens of flora and fauna. The attention to detail in each display is commendable, providing an immersive and informative experience.

A beautiful and enthralling experience. The dinosaur bones were the pièce de résistance of their entire collection, not that the other pieces were not amazing mind you. From Avians to deep sea wild life, their taxidermy was top notch and mesmerizing. I recommend visiting as It's often considered as a "hidden" attraction as it's not as advertised compared to Singapore's other offerings. I heavily, HEAVILY recommend a visit at least once when you're in Singapore
