Compared to the other larger nature parks in Singapore, the trail in this one is probably the most undulating with paths paved with crushed bricks, what seems like old construction materials, mud, and soil. You won’t find even boardwalks or stairs with railings to hold on to. The canopy of trees above you provides some shade, while the collected foliage of leaves on the ground may be slippery at times. A challenge for bikers and hikers who want a physical and close encounter right in the middle of a jungle-like landscape. There are generally two paths for cycling and hiking, so pick the correct one to avoid a potential collision. Bring sufficient water, insect repellent, an umbrella in case it pours, and wear shoes that you’re not too precious about because of the muddy spots. To avoid getting lost (especially when it gets close to sunset), have a map with GPS handy to find your way out of the maze of meandering trails. There is an Observation Tower somewhere in the northern part of the park that you have to climb up to bask in the glorious panoramic views of Mother Nature from a high, slightly swaying vantage point.

Everything is fine except the trail is very close to main road where the car sound is a bit annoying. It might not be a good choice if you're looking for peace and quiet place. After rain need to expect slippery, so be careful. Follow the trail is easy and within 40 minutes you can finish one round.

a very treacherous trail and quite scenic as well. if you are coming to this trail, please take note of these: (hiking) - it is recommended to wear long pants - spray insect repellent when needed - watch your steps if you are trekking (cycling) - before cycling in the trail, make sure your wheel is fully pumped - it is recommended to use mountain bikes than foldable bikes but no road bikes - always watch your surroundings and path as there is a lot of rocks and increases the chance of falling over

Great place for nature lover to hike and immerse into the "forest" atmosphere however the is a lacking of sign board so best to have google map standby. Many opportunities for Nice pictures to be taken.

25 Jan 2022: Visited Chestnut Nature Park again for the Northern Hiking Loop. Part of the trails are shared with bikers and be on the lookout. Go at your own pace to enjoy the walk and the Northern Loop does not form a complete loop back to the car park. 26 Oct 2021: Feeling great to be on the beaten hiking trail and we completed the Chestnut Nature Park (Southern Loop) on a nice quiet Monday morning. Wonderful nature walk with signage to guide you and covered rest area along the way. Toilets and water fountain are near to the car park

A good place to spend a couple of hours on your weekends, the park offers biking and hiking trails, humidity is high owing to dense vegetation, for nature lovers is a feast, as one can witness umpteen plants, fungi, birds and butterflies. The hiking trail is not too long, therefore not tiresome except for the high humidity. The tower point is a nice place to look at the top view of the entire park.

One of the few nature parks which is still natural and rustic. East to spot many birds and small animals. There is carpark with toilets and a vending machine for energy drinks at the entrance. Stay on the designated paths and if you are a nature lover you will enjoy it. Heads up - it is a natural rugged terrain and you will not find paved roads so wear appropriate hiking shoes. Also carry an insect repellent if you are prone to bites

I believe this trail (northern) is more for intermediate as the path is very narrow and “jungly” but it’s very worth it. The view from the observatory was rly nice, can see all the trees from above! Can also spot some SAF helicopter if it’s your lucky day. A bit far from public transport that I had to call in grab.

Love the trail. Gives the really back to nature vibe. There are two trails: northern trail and Southern trail. Based on other people's reviews, I think the northern trail is more manageable and fun. We tried the Southern trail today and it was really like going back to the kampung days.

Wonderful place for a quiet and fresh nature walk or muddy track cycling. I went for a hiking (as its mentioned in the park) lucky to spot quite a few animals in their own habitat monkeys, Flying Lemur, Monitor lizard, Tortoise and squirrels. Hiking Not recommend for old folks or ones with knee pain. walkway is in natural settings. there are 2 circuits to cover Northern loop and southern loop. Both are equally exciting. Keep atleast 3-4 hours to complete both loop. Take enough water. Do climb up the watch tower along Northern loop. Its worth climbing 50+ steps. Happy hiking. Wish you enjoy your close encounter with nature.

Quite a lay back nature park and not too crowded over the weekend. It is quite shady so good to walk around. Not many features compare to Bukit Timah or Dairy Farm, mainly only forest with trees. Popular with mountain bikes people though. They segregated the hiking and bike path so it is quite safe to walk around.

I’m been to more than 30 natural park in SG and honestly this one is one of the most special one. The ways in the park are separated into trails for hiking and for cycling. There’s also a bike park inside with huge bumps, very interesting. Even under the huge sun, you can barely feel the heat because of the heavy leaves and beaches. Really a cool place to explore, but really very far away. Further more, the chestnut nature park is connected with few other parks. So take your full energy to go, otherwise will be a tough hiking. Recommend to all!!

This place is a gem. Loads of walking and mountain biking trails that are kept separate. You can really go out and just walk and walk and walk! It’s awesome! Loads of wildlife too including birds, monkeys and wild boar! My new favorite spot!

One of the best parks in Singapore to experience hike and explore nature. You can complete both southern loop and northern loop to explore whole Chestnut Nature Park. We can come across monkeys, monitor lizards and beautiful plants. It's also good place to experience mountain biking. There is a bike rental shop at Chestnut Nature park point. There are few concrete huts for taking breaks. And if you want bigger views of the park, get on to its observation tower. If it rained previous night, trails will be slippery. Wear appropriate shoes and dresses. During our last visit, we did Zangsa trail at last and went to Singapore Zoo. You can also do it. Follow signage hoisted in every stop. The trails aren't as beaten as that of MacRitchite. Yet they are maintained well.

For those who has never been here, there are mainly two entrances. If you are using public transport, you can arrive via Zhenghua Park underpass the BKE (see photo below). Or, you can walk along the side of the road (Chestnut Ave) to the carpark. I would recommend the former unless you're driving. The trail criss-crossed with MTB. Please be alert not to enter biking trail by accident. Keep a look out for signage if you're not sure. Overall terrain is mostly flat with just a little bit of up/down hill. If you're looking for something more challenging, try trekking to Mandai T15 from the Observation Tower. Or, to Bukit Timah through the Catchment from Chestnut Ave. Stay safe, enjoy, and all the best!

Good place to hike in a most natural environment in Singapore, it's nice & quiet on a weekday. The Authorities should build more hikers only trails in the area. Do not venture into the shared trails for your own safety, the mountain bikers are notoriously fast & reckless!

Chestnet Nature Park is 1 of the friendliest park in SG! Most of the hikers (in the 50s and 60s) were so friendly and energetic. Their vibes made our walk more lovely on a sun morning. Carpark is small if you are driving and seem a popular place for bikers. The hiking trail is approx 5km with mostly uneven path. You may like to bring along a walking stick if you have. There’s a lot of trees and a tower approx 5 storeys high, great view and weather. Even though the park reminded me of MacRitchie but Chestnut has less crowd. The trails are divided into biking, hiking separately. To those to jumped into the wrong lane knowingly, have courtesy to walk your bike next time.

My first time here. It's a good nature trail walk with all the trees. I can see squirrels and monkeys on the trees. Wear a good pair of trekking shoes as the trail is full of small rocks and tree roots. It was slippery for some parts as it was still wet. Overall, the walk is not physically challenging and it nice to enjoy the nature !

There are two loops - Northern and Southern loops. Many interesting fauna and mushroom to spot. Very refreshing and rejuvenating nature to hike. Parking is extremely limited and an issue. Expect parking on the side of the already-narrow road. A biker's haven, many bikers. Good thing they separate the biking trail from the hiking trail. That can ensure some form of safety.

Chestnut Nature Park in Singapore offers a delightful escape into lush greenery. The well-maintained trails provide a serene environment for nature enthusiasts and hikers. With diverse flora and fauna, the park is a haven for birdwatching. The amenities, including informative signages and resting points, enhance the overall experience. However, it's advisable to bring sufficient water and insect repellent. Overall, Chestnut Nature Park is a great spot for a rejuvenating day in nature.

Pleasantly surprised with this less off beaten track. For nearly 1 hour of walk without seeing another hikers except for 1 biker, we were granted tranquility, peace and quiet. Fresh from our hikes in the Apls of Haute Savoie, this was it's continuation much welcomed! Bukit Timah is too much like the busy malls here on weekends and we wanted to avoid that as much as we can. So this trail is a must on your list!

Visited Chestnut Nature Park 2 months ago. Chestnut Nature Park is bisected into north and south by Chestnut Avenue. The Southern Trail is a loop, while the Northern Trail leads to the Observation Tower. The Mandai T15 Trail or aka Gangsa Trail starts from the Observation Tower, and ending at Mandai Road next to the Bird Paradise. Chestnut Nature Park is inaccessible by public transport. But there is a carpark next to Chestnut Point where there are toilets and mountain bike rental.

Really enjoyed hiking in this Park. It has both hiking and biking trails, clearly marked and is an amazing get away in the midst of this bustling city. Trails are well marked and are left natural so it is a great outdoors experience.

Good place to trek for a few hours. The trail here is of gravel and dirt and is mostly unpaved so it will be difficult for people who have any physical limitations. Chestnut Nature Park also has mountain biking trails. Some trails are shared with hikers but some are dedicated biking trails which is great for both groups. You can rent a mountain bike at the park if you want or bring your own. There are a few canopies for shade throughout the trails but there is only one real rest area so bring insect repellant, water, and some snacks with you.

Went mountain biking on the trails! We rented a tier 2 mountain bike at the entrance and it was great! Well maintained and suspension was good. Chestnut park has a "beginner" trail, a pump track and multiple difficult trails. I had only tried the beginner trails, which wasn't that easy 😅 but it was still fun! A great outdoor experience, although a little inaccessible without a car.

There were 2 trails the Northern and the Southern trail. The Southern trail was a loop and it was quiet whereas for the northern trail, there were more people probably due to the presence of the observatory tower towards the end. Overall, it was a good walk to be surrounded by nature.

Nice park and interesting trails. It is good that the hiking and mountain bike trails are clearly separated. The hiking trails are more "natural" than most (in Singapore). They didn't pour gravel to cover the depressions, or try to pave it. Which is very good! However, watch out for the very aggressive insects- mosquitoes or flies, at the Drongo trail (southern hiking trail) Just don't stop, keep walking and they can't land on you.

Off the BKE near Diary Farm. There is a small carpark (which is free). It’s a nice easy hike trail, not too long. There wasn’t much wind, and quite shaded. The path are narrow in some areas. There are some decent uphills. The hike and bike paths are separate and the signs are quite clear.

Very crowded on a public holiday, hiking trail needs to be widened to accommodate the crowd. Public toilet at Chestnut Point is terrible, park users walk in with muddy shoes, causing the floor all wet and sandy. Toilet seats are yellowed and unsightly.

I’ve never done mountain biking before. For a first timer, I thought the experience was really good. The trail had some tough parts cos of the logs and mud but it was fun. I took 45 mins to complete it. It was intense and we sweat a lot haha. Would totally recommend it if you’re a thrill seeker. Getting to the park itself was a hassle. The nearest bus stop is about 15 mins away if you’re walking. Getting to the bicycle rental shop is another 10/15 mins walk.

I did the hike connecting zhenghua nature park as well as dairy farm (Singapore quarry). Chestnut park gives a natural feel as some of the tracks are not paved, which retains the original flavour. It's bochap maintenance in a good way 😁

A great place for hiking . However, do take note of the existence of wild boars. Cooling n refreshing trails within the trees. Look out for rambutans

Saw a snake, many monitor lizards and even a pair of mouse deers. The nature trail really has many wildlife you can expect to see. Go on a weekday for less people and possibly a higher chance of seeing wildlife. Overall hike is not that difficult, it can be completed in 4-6 hours.

It is quite shady but don't go after a rain as the trails can be muddy. It is also a very nature place and good for a hike. There is a toilet so you can change out of your sweaty clothes.

Fabulous venue for mountain biking! It's basically like a holy temple for riders especially during the weekends. Nature at its best with frequent encounter of wildlife.

I like the pump track. The rest is also awesome. The thing I don't like is how muddy the tracks are. But everything else is very good

Easily accessible. Small carpark. Prepare to park ur vehicle along the road side. Nice shady walking routes. Some parts are closed. Easy to medium difficulty. Lots of ppl during weekends.

Loved the observation tower. Many trails to check out. Do rem to refill your water bottle at the carpark. Do check out the northern and southern loop. The fake waterfall has been fenced up. Pity.

Spent the Sunday afternoon hiking at the Chestnut Nature park, quiet just soaking in the sound of nature, the smell of the woods. Just loved it. Saw a little of the wildlife 😅 wild boars, monitor lizard, monkeys and the squirrels. Beautiful clear skies, though warm. Just what I needed to prepare for the week.

You need to drive to get inner to the park and there is a carpark. Toilets and big shelter is available before your hike. Today I finished both southern and northern loops. Is close to expressway so quite noisy. Other than that is very good place for hiking. Take note of small closure. Quite easy to hike but careful don't enter to bike lane.

One of my favourite parks in Singapore. There is a bike park trail inside, where mountain bikers can go show off their stunt. It is probably one of the few places in Singapore with a proper trail. Apart from that, people who are hiking can also enjoy hiking here with dedicated trails (don't venture off the trails as what reviewers have said too!)

Amazing scenery, one of the parks in Singapore that has a separate route for hikers and mountain bikers.
