Great natural park with many shades/trees, a lot of wild lives (monkeys, frogs, insects, lizards etc). There are many information signs explaining the ecosystem of the park. Remember to bring water. Don’t be afraid of the moneys. They are not aggressive at all.

The tree top walking is still close. But there are still plenty of places to roam around. A lot of teenagers train their school cross country race over here as well be careful when eating St the cafeteria as monkeys may evade and snatch your food away! They should put some doors to prevent monkeys from entering the cafeteria.

It is a lovely place to spend your weekend in Singapore. You can have a walk around the reservoir or do some jogging or running, do some of the impressive trails along the reservoir and spend quality time with your loved one being close to nature.

MacRichie Reservior is Singapore's oldest reservoir which was completed in 1868. There are several hiking trails starting from MacRitchie Reservoir to Windsor Nature Park, Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, Lower & Upper Peirce Reserviors etc.

Nice to be out in the woods. Feel, breath and see the greens and nature in 🇸🇬. Trust me, it will change your day. Interact with nature and the 🐒🙈🙊, very playful animals. If you happen to feel very stressful from work, take an hour walk in the Reservoir Bush trails. Study has shown, greens are good for your eyes and mood. It's also good for the body and Mind, keep you fit and healthy mentally and physically. It has certainly helps me to be a better trader and Investor in the stocks market, you will make better decisions. 😊 living ✌

It’s so tranquil here. They have made platforms at some area for easier walking. This is great for older folks. Good to see a number of elder folks walking the trail. Had a good walk. Very peaceful except for those occasion runners whom shouts at people to keep aside. Highly recommended.

This is my favourite place for a weekend getaway! Comparing to all the other hiking routes, this is the only route that will make you forget about you are actually in a city. The place is a piece of gem in the heart of Singapore.

MacRitchie Reservoir is easy to get to as it is located in the centre of Singapore and well-connected by many public bus routes. There are many different hiking trails to choose from and is a good place to spend an afternoon close to nature.

That's one of my fav place ...I came in 1994 for the first time , with some IFS sports teachers, and then that was my training ground every time I wanted to get fit, which was probably happening every 1st January...the place did not change, apart from the car park that was anyway built a while ago (in 1994 it was still a ground open carpark ). It's so peaceful, especially during weekdays, and especially during covid....today the sky is just transparent to be so blue, and the water is a deep emerald color, thanks tontje reflection of the lush trees surrounding the lake. That was a good day to do a few drones shots, and to track some kataks. That's not only one of lung of Singapore, that's also the link of Singapore and, who can forget about traffic and pollution when they enter the lake compounds...

Popular reservoir park, especially with runners during weekend mornings. Nevertheless, the larger number of trails and board walks means it is easy to get away from the crowds and get close to nature. There are plenty of birds to see, though you might need to pause and take the time to search them out in the dense trees.

A great place to engage in nature in a city state. Mature trees, uneven muddy tracks, sound of the high pitch winding insects which you will not be able to sight. We did the Lornie track and enjoyed every moment of it. The track was busy, on a weekday morning with cross country runners & walkers. Mid point rain shelter @ Chemperai Hut. Parking, a cafe serve hot drinks & snacks and toilets with shower facilities.

Impressive trails along the reservoir. Happen to see the kayak competition of polys. You can see lots of monkeys under the trees. Most importantly, it’s quite easy to get to this park, other than other hiking places. Super recommend!

It's a large rustic park built around a reservoir with boardwalks built around it's perimeter. Lots of monkeys ply this area looking for hand outs. Sadly, the entrance has not sense of arrival, just a multistorey car park and a brick road leading to the reservoir.

One of the best hiking places in Singapore where a trail runs through thick forest protecting you from sunlight and in some parts along the reservior's side providing scenic photography place. Recommended to start quite early as it gets quite hot towards noon. Beware of those chicky monkeys though.

You can either have a leisure walk or hiking there ! A free Treetop Walk located at the hill, default as your "Grand Prize" after a 2hrs walk from the entrance (MacRitchir Reservoir bus stop), 1hr only jogging speed all the way up. What a wonderfull experience. Take note no signal/internet while you are in the forest. Please bring enough drinks and beware of the monkeyyy.

A nice experience, we walked almost for 7 km, it was peaceful. Sone points to note Walk or do activities in dry fit or carry and extra wear. Carry water bottle but no food because no monkeys are there. There are no eating places on the site or in between so fill your stomach and go. Tree Top is closed on Monday so go accordingly. Must go if you have time. Loved the experience.

Nature at its very best in the heart of Singapore. Beautiful reservoir park with lake in the centre and forests and beautiful walking trails all around it. Walking trail of around 13km in total that can take almost 4 hours to complete but worth it. Has several spots on the way to stop and explore. Fair bit of harmless wild life along the way too. Best to start early morning around 6-7am. Has a nice food court to enjoy at the end of the trail.

This is by far, my favorite place in Singapore. The variety of trails for different skill levels, the opportunities to watch canoe training, and the scenic zig-zag bridge all sound appealing. The TreeTop walk also seems like a unique experience, showcasing the forest in an urban setting. Just be cautious about the presence of long-tailed macaques and the advice about not bringing plastic bags.

We walked from Windsor Nature Park to TreeTop to MacRitchie, it was a beautiful hike. The trails are clear and only a few muddy parts. As you get close to TreeTop, the path has wooden planks. We started at Windsor Nature Park at 3:45pm and was able to catch the sun beginning to set around 6:15pm at MacRitchie.

I couldn't believe I was in Singapore when I saw this place. You will not find this one on any travel brochure or to do list or places to visit. You need a local person who can guide u , I am fortunate to have a friend in Singapore who took me to this park. Take a nature walk, admire the beauty of Singapore. I had a very nice time. It is humid and quite a walk, so weat comfortable clothes.

Like the nice shady forest trails which are great for jogging and hiking. Will usually do the 11km trail plus the tree top walk to make it complete. The feeling of being away from the hustle and bustle of the city for 2 hours is priceless. Occasionally you may meet some of the inhabitants of the reserves too.

My family and I have always enjoyed coming to Macritchie. There are many different trails to suit everyone’s ability, the young & old. Great place to introduce nature to children. There are parking available at the main entrance. We have found different entrance & exits along the way. I like it that some of the trails are shaded by nature and am always thrill to see the park’s inhabitants. Definitely a park worth visiting again and again.

MacRitchie is one place I'll never get tired of visiting. Love this place for the lush greenery it provides. And the trails are pleasant to walk, with the trees providing enough share. People do their running here too. As far as trails are concerned, one could choose either short or long one leading to bukit timah. Must visit.

Great place to kayak and go on walking trails. If you want to reach the treetop walk, it’s much faster to enter by the Venus carpark entrance to the reserve.

  • 5/5 FIVE-A-DAY 4 years ago on Google
There are several trails of varying distance that you can do, of which the boardwalk is the easiest. Depending on the trail, the walk can take from an hour to several hours. There are fewer people on weekdays but can get very crowded on weekends. It is linked to the treetop walk but the treetop walk only opens at 9am and is one-way, so do note that you can’t turn back but to complete the trail by moving forward only. The park is also connected to Bukit Timah Nature Reserve as well but I haven’t had a chance to try that trail yet. You may want to note that there are monkeys around and its population seemed to have increased over the years. If you do encounter them in big groups, just walk on normally and ignore them and all will be good. Do not try to take photos of them as I had seen them turning aggressive when people do. Other animals that you may spot on a walk there... monitor lizards, otters, the occasional snake and occasional pangolin, fishes etc... you just need to keep your eyes open :) In a nutshell, a beautiful place for walks, served by a relatively huge car park, a cafe and a bistro. And as with most nature reserves, there are actually not many areas that you can get shelter if it rains, so bring an umbrella/poncho as it may come in handy! (If you are into fishing, do note that you may only do so at designated areas.)

Unkon to many who travel to our island. This is one of the last primary rain forest. It is also one of our earliest reservoir from the days of empire. Hiddin trails and there is a secret abandon japanese shinto shrine from the times of occupation. MG Lim Bo Seng. The local war here is also buried here. Filled with joggers and canoeist. You can still see the hidden animals such as snakes and tree frogs. Just need to keep your eyes peeled. Oh yes stay away from the monkeys. They nasty creatures.

Nice park and a lengthy walking trail. Carry water - you will have few rest areas with drinking water available. Wear comfortable shoes- most of the walk would be on wooden planks and dress light as you will sweat a lot during day time. Most of the areas are covered with trees but at someplace you will be exposed to sun, you can take a cap if required. Many people start from entrance and walk till Treetop walk and exit near upper Thompson road. The stretch from ranger station to treetop walk will be inclined and will slow you down. But rest of the trails are flat.

Best park in Singapore. Track variety, greenery, wildlife and fresh air. Full track is roughly 12.5km which you can cover in 3 hours walking. Video shows a monitor lizard calmly swimming in the lake.

Beautiful reservoir with ample parking spots, and it’s not too crowded in the morning. There are numerous maps placed around the place and the tracks are really easy to follow. It is conveniently a 11-13km loop (if you follow the yellow path) with boardwalks in between - it really is very peaceful and covered so it’s not very hot. Would recommend! Lush with different species of plants and you can see the occasional Komodo dragon wading in the reservoir.

Good place to do some walking and running exercise during the weekend, had a good 10km walk along the trail. Sadly TreeTop walk is under maintenance, was unable to go that way. And the park got really dark after 6:30pm. Had to walk out of the reservoir and walked along the road for the last 3km. Hope will able to complete the whole trail next time.

It’s an excellent place for sunrise, sunset and cloudy days, providing beautiful background to the clear water and green canvas of trees. (Translated by Google) The previous generation living in the north had few opportunities to go out or visit. The entertainment in those years was simple, and there were not many leisure attractions. The sightseeing memories that could be squeezed out were mostly day trips during the student period. The Ritchie Reservoir is mostly a must-see. At that time, having the opportunity to travel was a major event that could be discussed with the neighbors for a few days. It was earth-shattering to be able to eat a package of fried rice noodles at the gazebo in Mailizhi, or buy a satay to taste. At that time, there were few things that people were in contact with, and the ability to watch live performances in the pavilion of the pond in Mailizhi was indescribably shocking. There are elegant lotus flowers in this park. What is even more rare is that the protected and intact original ecology can give us a rough understanding of what a tropical rain forest is. There are also trails in the jungle, walking, jogging, whether this is the miracle of the creator or the wiseness of our government, what you can see is enough to make people feel grateful and praised. Take your family, confidant, lover, or beloved pet, this park will give you countless admirations and even unforgettable memories.

Nice place to start exploring the rainforest of Singapore. But it is hot and humid. And can be crowded along its narrow and at times muddy paths. Look out for a durian tree. The day I went, it was full of durians. Look out also for monkeys and monitor lizards.

For all nature lovers. Beautiful scenery with quiet and peaceful surrounding. Love taking a stroll here once in awhile to recharge myself, away from the hustle bustling city and fast paced lifestyle of our economy. Love the board walks! Please come for a visit too!

By far, the most popular park in Singapore, with lovely trails for running and walking. There are various trails of different lengths and durations to complete. Head to the Treetop Walk with your family for bird eye view of The Central Catchment area. You can walk by the shore of the reservoir and then by the Golf Link back to the car park or Mushroom Cafe. You can connect with Bukit Timah Nature Reserve via Rifle Range Road. You also can head to Lornie Road. In the morning, shafts of light rays penetrate through the canopy down to the forest floor, and make opportunities for great pictures. Nearest MRT station is either to Caldecott MRT or Marymount MRT.

Very calm on the weekdays but will not recommend to go during weekends as it is packed of people! Those who are concern of COVID-19 spreading, best to avoid on weekends!!

Great place to go for a really long walk. Visit the nature park, you'll find scenic views that you don't see everyday. I really loved the location so much will definitely visit again.

Navigating comfortably thru the cool, mild misty platform trail, opposed to the adventurous dirt and muddy trail during wet weather.

Amazing views, but cant shake the feeling that this place is quite gloomy and there is moss growing rapidly in a dark damp area with high humidity. Maybe Npark can look unto refurbishing the rest areas, more natural light and airy views

Very scenic and beautiful park facing an equally scenic reservoir that resembles a largr majestic lake. Alot of flora and fauna and monkeys, iguanas and many species of birds can be seen. During the weekends it can be quite crowded and you will see many photo enthusiasts around as well as joggers and hikers. Stay within the paver paths and tracks to avoid getting lost in the forest. Highly recommended.

This is an easily accessible park via nearby mrt and bus, a great place for families to walk and relax. The macritchie reservoir is nice, tranquil and blue, while the surrounding forested areas makes the park a great scenic one. There are canoe/kayak enthusiasts who come here to do bask themselves in their hobby in this great place, while others just chilling at benches around. I would come back next time!

Beautiful place, great for exercising and hiking, especially with its long main trails and detour”y” boardwalks. Longest trail stretches all the way to Windsor Nature Park and TreeTop Walk and you could also go to Bukit Timah Nature Reserve via Rifle Range Road from Jelutong Tower, a must see in the park. Beautiful scenery and a great place for canoeing too. The MacRitchie main trail in the east heading to Windsor is quite crowded, but Chemparai trail (forgot the name oop) in the east and Lornie Trail heading to Jerutong Tower is way more peaceful and ambient. Overall a wonderful place with nature right on your doorstep (or foot in this case..?) that I would definitely recommend. Stunning views of the reservoir too.

Easily one of the best walks and trails in Singapore. Do the full 11 km circle or do one of the smaller walks, walk along the water body or through the hilly ups and downs. There is something for everyone. And it does have come really amazing views.

Nice park near the city center, it’s easy to access by taking bus or MRT. The trail along the reservoir is flat and easy to walk, and you can see the old dam structure from below. However, there are quite a number of monkeys that disturb the visitors near the food stall at the entrance.

Huge and beautiful park right next to a city of 5.5m people. Easily accessible by bus, MRT, or walking. Saw a bunch of turtles. Did the long loop including tree top walk, Jelutong tower, and the shopping center for lunch. Bring good shoes and water. My wife wore sandals and was miserable, but very beautiful park, nice and quiet away from the noise and hustle of the city. Cheers!

Fantastic place to get close to tranquil waters and lush greenery. The large body of water cools the surroundings down. Top tip: lots of monkeys around so please don’t leave things, especially food, exposed or lying around.

Fantastic slice of nature in the concrete jungle of Singapore! :) Various nature trails and walks from a couple of kilometers to above 10km to choose from. I did the shorter boardwalk, which has a nice pavement laid out through the trial, avoiding any potential muddy track situation. The walk was scenic with fabulous views of the serene reservoir, green trees, and cheeky monkeys. The monkeys didn't bother us this time, but it's advised not to bring food, so as not to tempt the monkeys to reach out and grab. Arriving in the evening, the sun was going down, thus it was quite a comfortable temperature for a walk. The air was cooling and refreshing while walking amongst the shady trees. Toilets, showering, and water filling facilities are provided at the bottom/start of the reservoir near the carpark. I look forward to coming back, and attempting the longer walks :)

Amazing natural hike!! Depending upon fitness, one can decide to hike from 7 Kms to 11 Kms.

Beautiful park. Walk around the reservoir is still pretty tame. Terrain if you're headed towards the treetop walk is a bit more hilly and rocky. Experienced a heavy downpour today and the route was pretty much flooded so do prepare boots (recommended) or sandals (not as safe). Not sure if it's cos it's acid rain but I wore trekking shoes today and my feet were quite itchy after getting soaked. Also heads up is that there are 2 gazebos along the way to treetop walk but they are pretty far apart. One is somewhere nearer to the start of the trail, but the other is further down nearer to the fork in the road that leads to the Drongo Trail. Hope that helps you better decide if you want to push through or wait out the rain.

One of my favorite trails to go on a 10-12km hike. The trails are shaded with trees around so its not so hot. Once in a while we’ll see anumals like chicken/roosters, monkeys, tortoise, fish in the lake, etc so the hike is quite interesting. There’s also a ranger station where there’s drinking water fountain available and toilet. Later in the afternoon, it the view near the golf course and the lake can be quite scenic. after the walk, you can sit at the benches and just relax.

Great place to walk / hike even on weekends. There are several trails ranging from an easy 1 hour walk to a few 3-4 hour walks. We went on a Sunday afternoon and the park wasn’t too crowded. Previously, when we went on a Saturday morning there were a lot more people, so if you want to avoid the crowd you may want to choose another time. You can go into the forest-y area if you want to hike more or just walk along the many boardwalks for a great view of the reservoir. If you want to extend your walk the Dairy Farm / Bukit Timah Hill area is not too far away. Pets are not allowed on the trails but you can bring them to the main park area. Activity wise - canoes and kayaks are available for rent. There are many monkeys around. They are not afraid of humans and will snatch food if they see it - they associate plastic bags with food so you probably don’t want to carry those around too. There are 2 entrances. The main one is along Lornie Road. Nearest train station is Caldecott - but it’s about 12 minute walk away. Buses will stop right outside the Park. If you are going to the Treetop Walk you may want to enter via Venus Road. If you’re looking for places to eat after, the immediate area doesn’t have a lot of options. But you can easily get to good food via bus. Or you can just pack a picnic and enjoy a nice meal there.
