Happen to be around Tanjong Pagar area and walk in to this Japan Rail Cafe, didn’t know that it has been in SG for 5 yrs, own by East Japan Railway. Railway station atmosphere/ concept once you step in the cafe, reminding me of Japan ( :< miss Japan), at the same time, there is a small retail area selling exclusive Japanese snack and products. Love the big Japan map hanging in the cafe, allowing you to view all the prefecture. The cafe changes their monthly menu featuring different region/ prefecture food every month, the food look amazing but this time round I try their signature Kaisen Don, thumb up for it, surprisingly good and the condiments enhance the taste even more, lastly I even can pour the soup in to become Ochzuke if I wanted too. Their beef curry and hayashi are their signature too, I will definitely come and try it during my next visit. The staff was friendly and nice even thought I’m able see that they are under staff. There is an outdoor terrace siting too which is suitable for people who like fresh air especially during this covid period. Great experience and will be back again for more.

The service by the tech staff very rude. The dessert too sweet. Coffee not nice. Extremely rude Young staff. The elderly staff that doesn't know how to use the ordering system very nice and friendly. She limited in know how but her manner's are very very good. The technical guy rudely told us off the item only available after 3pm. Not Worth the visit here. First and last time coming here.

Great service, great food and great location. Highly recommend for you to check out the promotions before heading down. they usually run some sort of promotion that changes by the season to the various prefecture around Japan. The aircon is kinda very cold though!

We ordered Watashino curry rice, Kaiser Avocado don and Twin flavoured Crispy Chicken Don. All the meals are nicely presented and taste perfectly well. The environment is very good. It was windy and cooling so we don't feel hot even though we took the outdoor seat. No queue when we reached there around 7pm on Friday night. Value for money considering their is no GST or Service charge. If the portion can be bit larger that will be even greater.

Cosy place for a bite or a drink. Order from the same QR code and can combine into 1 order, but payment at the front counter. I've tried the Royal Milk Tea, and the dash of ice cream is quite refreshing!

Yummy Hafu Hafu bento plate, half curry half hayashi beef stew, with crispy chicken cutlet and crab croquette. Had one side order of mentaiko French fries, which was a bit dry. Totally enjoyed the soft serve ice cream which is from Narita Farm. Service is friendly and helpful, well done.

Place was cosy and offer both indoor and outdoor dining. Nothing unique other than the interior design is partly towards the Japan Rail. Unfortunately the seats are not designed or have the same comfort as the rail in Japan. Prices are reasonable but, as I was just killing time while waiting for meet someone elsewhere, as only fries and iced black coffee. The fries was much better than McDonald’s in my opinion but the portion was too big for 1.

Perfect place to chill with a pint & tori-karaage w/shoe-string fries to pass time watching Sunday people traffic above T.Pagar MRT station.

This month (Jan24'), they are promoting Kawasaki foods. It's nice but slightly higher price compare with other kind of japanese restaurant.

Light airy place with very good portion sizes. Left feeling full and happy. Serving sizes are generous, and food was generally decent for an approximate price of $20~ had the chance to try the kinako mochi as well which was pleasant. Service was prompt, and food was nice. Overall a fuss free option if you’re looking for a nice area. Also! PLENTY OF SEATS. Feels like that would be an important thing to highlight 🤭

3/5 tonkatsu (pork) $19+$2 top up to chage to pork, which is quite pricey, considering IP has cheaper options. (in comparison Plaza Sing katsu goes for under $9). Taste-wise not too bad, it was quite oily and a bit over fried. Hafu hafu option was essentially free - the beef stew gravy comes with bits of beef so the hafu option was quite worth it. They don't go out of their way to accommodate guests with 5pax or more. We ended up having to sit outdoors on high tables. Floor was not level, so half the chairs were wobbly.

I was waiting to have dinner so hopped in this cafe for a drink. To my surprise, they have a corner helping prospective tourists to Japan. They have part time staff to guide customers to better understand how to travel using the JR. They just provide service and they don’t sell any passes. They have both indoor and outdoor settings. For outdoor, they have giant ceiling fans. Of course indoor seatings are much cooler.

A great place to chill after work or weekends. Food is great and it’s nice to take the tables on the outside of the weather is good. Bonus is that JR East has a service there that provides advice on travelling around Japan or help with your Japan holiday itinerary.

I passed by this cafe and I had a pleasant experience here. Bought the melon parfait and the matcha latte and it was nice, not too sweet. The staff were friendly too and the cafe has a nice, pleasant atmosphere. There's a section dedicated to explain about the Japan rail network which I found to be very useful. The staff was very patient and clear in his explanation, and I had helpful insights about Japan and the potential destinations. Overall, I had a nice experience here and would go back.

This place is amazing! I always come back here to do my work or meet my friends! The coffee is so good! It's impossible to get the same coffee anywhere else! There was always a positive attitude shown by the staff toward their customers. The Internet connection is very fast and is unlimited as well. There is no doubt that this is the perfect place to work and chill out during non-peak hours.

Had the Watashino Curry Rice with crispy chicken cutlet and crab cream croquette. The fried stuff were great but the curry was gamey due to the minced beef.

Ordered the Hafu Hafu to try both their hashed beef stew and Japanese curry with minced meat. Definitely preferred the curry. The stew was too sweet for me. The Hamburg was small but nice. Should stick to chicken or pork cutlet. The Crab Croquette was merely a cream filled crispy crust I’d skip. Overall quite shiok lah.

Came back after not visiting for a few years Had their spring special chirashizushi tempura set. Would say its nice but not really worth the price since the portion was pretty small although the tempura was crispy and nice. It did look pretty but the taste was nothing really special. There was a free gift that came along with it which I didnt get. (Didnt know until I saw their post on ig) My friend had the hafu hafu rice which I normally order which she did like. Would probably just stick to their curry rice/hayashi rice if I do come back to visit next time.

Went with a friend there for dinner. The cafe looked nice to chill in with good exhibitions. But the food, particularly the curry rice was expensive and the portion is small. My friend ordered cake and tea and the portion was small too. But service is still good.

Food was good and most wait staff were good and attentive except for a gentleman who was rather rude. We wanted to sit outside where it was less cold but said male wait staff kept convincing us to sit inside as, he explained, that if it rained, we'll get wet and there's no guarantee of seats for us to move in to. After agreeing to sit inside, I just asked for somewhere that was not so cold, somewhere not under direct aircon vent. His reply sounded passive aggressive to me but, I may be wrong: "if you sit inside, everywhere is cold one." I really don't need this tone and attitude. The least he could have done was to suggest some choices. Thankfully, once we were seated, other staff were really very nice and professional and that made our meal more enjoyable. And no, it did not rain.

Really good ambience; relaxing, enjoyable and had a good surrounding view. The cafe encapsulates the essence of a Japanese train station really well and we loved it. The food was nice as well! I had the Kaisen Don and it was enjoyable! Would totally visit again.

my friend and i attended the Inucredible Akita event and had so much fun :) it was a cute and wholesome time learning about Akita prefecture. we learnt about the indigenous peoples’ cultures, local cuisine, and where to see cute akita inus 🐕 we sampled really fresh and tasty edamame and tea while trying our best to make butter mochi 🫛🧈 we got to meet a celebrity- Hachi kun! he danced for us and we took polaroids with him :) the posters for the event were so well designed too. i just love the vibe of JR cafe and would like to go more often! this is not a paid review i legit had a good time hahaha

Second time here and quality of food and service is consistently good. Had the cake platter with kinako coffee today, and was pleasantly surprised by the unique flavors, compared to most cafes' tea sets which usually taste like supermarket bakery cakes.

Love this place as it has a big outdoor area. When the weather permits, I totally recommend to sit outdoors and watch people there. Service is pretty good even during peak hours. Recently this place can be pretty packed during the weekends. Coffee is good. Food is so so, but if you don't mind milder tasting food, you may enjoy it. They serve some Japanese alcohol as well (including some craft beers). I always go home with a brochure of JP travel everytime I visit this place.

Came here for coffee and tea after our lunch. The drip coffee is top notch. The cakes were very light and less sweet which is to our liking. We were served by Ken who is very attentive and good in his job. We will return to try the other food on the menu.

Great food at reasonable pricing with friendly and welcoming service staffs! Restaurant is clean and spacious. Love the decos and the gift shop in the corner. Feels like we're transported back to Japan. The coffee smells really great though i didnt get to try it. Ordered the railway set and it was so good especially the saba fish. Would love to come back to try other dishes and the coffee!

Interesting cafe with Japanese railway station decoration at tanjong pagar Atmosphere was pretty good with an outdoor seating area Had the curry rice with chicken culet and salmon. The portions are decent and food was overall good Overall fine and no real complaints, you order off the iPad so it’s pretty quick/efficient

Such a nice and prominent place the cafe is located. Went on weekend afternoon and there were only 3 tables with customers. Ordering via tablet was simple. The menu was quite clear with enough varieties to choose from. The shop is quite spacious indoor as well as outdoor with neat Japanese theme deco. Ordered a set of coffee with cakes and muchi add-in. The quality of food and coffee was great
