Feeling peckish for Vegetarian food, decided to visit Whole Earth at Peck Seah Street to see if they were any good, given that they were awarded the Michelin Bib Gourmand Singapore Award 2021. From the onset, the ambiance, service and layout of the restaurant plus the food layout at other tables looked really good. Alas, there was where the good stuff ended and the nightmare of a meal came about. The Olive Brown Rice had little to no flavour to it. The Sweet and Sour Delight had such a tough dough that someone could have lost some teeth. The Enchanted Forrest, with its Monkeyhead Mushrooms, had a weird texture to it that to a first time eater of this type of mushroom definitely did not feel like a Mushroom but more of a scaly-powdery substance. The 2 types of Soup ordered tasted bland. Having had vegetarian food at other places, perhaps such new style vegetarian restaurant is not for everyone, definitely not this party of 4 at least. General Verdict: Poor and weird quality vegetarian food that may not be suitable for all Opening Hours: Daily 11:30am-3pm and 5:30pm-10pm Queue Situation: Weirdly, given the dining experience, this place is always full so a reservation is required if one wishes to partake in a meal here Price: SG$50++ per person Payment Mode: Cash and all Major Credit Cards (Physical and Paywave) Is this worth a try? No Is it worth making a trip just to try it? No Is this worthy of the Michelin Bib Gourmand Singapore Award? No Items Ordered: 1) Item: Seaweed Chips and Pickled Papaya Appetisers Description: Refreshing and crispy Appetisers that helped to whet the appetite Verdict: Acceptable, Provided upon sitting Price: SG$2++ each 2) Item: Signature Olive Brown Rice Description: Healthier Option that had little to no flavour with a couple of burnt grains leading to a burnt taste Verdict: Fail, Don't Waste Time Price: SG$16++ 3) Item: Crispy Golden Oats - Deep Fried Tofu tossed with fragrant oats, curry leaves and chili pads Description: The Fried Tofu were generally tasteless and needed the Fried Oats to give it some flavour Verdict: Acceptable, Order only if you want to try Price: SG$18++ 4) Item: Garden Medley - Lightly sautéed asparagus, lotus root, ladies fingers, shiimeji mushroom and celery Description: A little too lightly sautéed resulting in undercooked ladies fingers Verdict: Acceptable, Order only if you want to try Price: SG$22++ 5) Item: Thai Sweet and Sour Delight - A vegetarian version of the usual Sweet and Sour Meat dish Description: The dough used to create the "delight" was so tough, it can take someone's teeth out that a wish was actually made for Canned Gluten Mock Meat to be used instead Verdict: Fail, Don't Waste Time Price: SG$19++ 6) Item: Enchanted Forrest Description: For a first time eater of Monkeyhead Mushroom, the Mushroom did not have the texture of a mushroom but instead was scaly and powdery which was very off putting Verdict: Fail, Don't Waste Time Price: SG$25++ 7) Item: Double Boiled Nourishing Soup Description: The soup was bland and had a weird aftertaste. Too expensive for the small single serving Verdict: Fail, Don't Waste Time Price: SG$15++ 8) Item: Double-Boiled Snow Pear Soup Description: The soup was so bland that it tasted more like water than the sum components of its ingredients. This fabulous restaurant has never failed to impress me with their outstanding Vegetarian dishes, especially mock and Tofu dishes. My favourite dishes are their “Cheeky Monkey”, “Spice Of Life”, “Harmony Tofu”, “Golden Oyster Mushroom”and “Crispy Mango Tamarind Tofu Roll”, all well-executed in terms of Flavours and Textures.

The restaurant serves vegetarian Peranakan cuisine. All the dishes I sampled were delicious: 1. Sambal kangkong 2. Mala mushroom 3. Penang rendang 4. Enchanted forest 5. Spice of life 6. Signature olive rice 7. Signature X.O. rice #2nd review# (2 weeks later) The dishes I had last night were all impressive, with special mentions for the Penang Rendang, Sambal Broccoli, and Nutty Buah Keluak. The unique tanginess and sourness of the Nutty Buah Keluak surprisingly suited my taste buds, and I loved it. Additionally, the Penang Rendang tasted even better than my first visit. On both occasions, the service was excellent. Based on these experiences, I've upgraded my rating from 4 to 5 stars.

Overrated! Overpriced! The food is too sweet (dish name: love at first bite)and too oily (olive fried rice) Bad taste. The curry is so so. The crispy bean curd with full of breadcrumbs, oily and no crispy at all, also no taste of bean curd. Don’t waste of time and money here.

Quite cool to have local flavours with vegan food. Tried teriyaki mushroom, fried beancurd (with great filling) and salt and pepper eggplant. Portion is large too. Was not able to finish 3 dishes with two of us.

Believe it or not, the XO fried rice was the best! Overall the food was pretty decent. Assam curry was off.... HK Noodles was way too salty...

Good food though a tad bit pricey compared to some other veggie restaurants but I guess that comes with the Michelin Bib Gourmand tag! Spacious restaurant and simple decor. Wait staff is attentive. Food is served quite quickly. Do call ahead for a reservation.

Food is always top notch at this award winning vegetarian restaurant. I recommend the XO fried rice and the enchanted forest. Enchanted forest has a right blend of herbalitious flavour which makes you crave for more.

There is a reason that this is a Michelin Starred restaurant even if it is a vegetarian restaurant. We ordered the olive fried rice, monkey head mushroom, oat tofu. The seasoning were impeccably right. While the food gives you a burst of flavour for every bites taken, it does not weight down on your taste buds. The great flavour lingers shortly in your mouth while gently fades away. This place will convince non vegetarian that vegetarian foods are very good as well.

If you are vegan, make sure u ask them. Some dishes are with eggs and diary. We ordered the yam ring as we are a fan! Really tasty and fresh! Size is also just nice for 2. The crispy golden oats is fried to perfection and the oats fried to perfection with curry leaves and chilli padi. Best with white rice! We also tried the crispy mango tamarind tofu roll. So lovely with the Thai tamarind sauce! We ended up ordering 2 portions! The meesua is fried to perfection! We also had a mala dish but can't remember the name. All the dishes we have ordered were all pleasing to our pallets! You know where to go for your next vegatarian meet up!

One of the luxurious vegetarian restaurants. Strongly recommended by a friend. The dishes are really good and I have no regrets. Love their signature dishes. We can park opposite public car park with ease. Quite crowded on weekdays though. Need reservations.

I had foreign vegetarian friends in town and I originally struggled to find a vegetarian restaurant that offered great food with local flavours, but Whole Earth meets that sweet spot well. Food is well portioned and tasty while staying healthy and nutritious. Honestly, the fact that it’s not meat doesn’t even matter once you taste the food. Overall, solid place to check out in Singapore.

Very decent vegetarian options located at Tanjong Pagar - just 3 mins walk from the MRT. Some call outs are the Olive Fried Rice, Penang Rendang, and Yam Ring. Service was really quick and staff were all attentive. Prices are on the higher end but you pay for good quality dishes after all. Place is spacious and well air-conditioned. Pretty popular location so do book in advance if you are planning to visit!

Good food, not too greasy, right amount of spicy and the portion sizes are decent too. Many people complain it’s too expensive but we paid about $25 - $30 pp after GST and service charge. We had three dishes, the rendang, the sambal king and the deep fried beancurd roll. Served with brown rice. It was enough for 4 people of small/ medium size eaters. There are other great and much cheaper vegetarian places in the vicinity that serve similar food and are equally tasty but they tend to be greasier and/or saltier. I had the Buah Kalak on a previous occasion and found it too sour for my liking so didn’t order this time, it’s too bad because otherwise that would be a stand out for this place as it is the one dish that is not offered in other vegetarian restaurants. There also seemed to be a lot of the nut itself, but sadly the taste was over powered by the tamarind. It’s a nice place to come for a tasty, home style meal. Also the vegan rendang is one of the best. Not too sweet and great texture. The bean curd roll was good for the first few bites but the skin is a bit thicker and chewier than expected. Still good - it’s more like a red bean pancake than Ngor Hiang. Coming back on a third visit - The mala deep friend mushroom thing is a must try as it taste like pork pieces but without the greasy interior. The enchanted forest, give it a miss as it’s totally bland and very expensive. The long beans with olive and tempeh was a surprise, it’s tasty and a nice non-greasy compliment to the richer dishes on offer. This time it was $35pp for 5 dishes and we were so full. Very creative dishes gotta say! Keep up the good work. Ambience still so-so for a restaurant of this price point though, it’s very noisy so it’s a come here for the food place. It’s impossible to hear your friends while dining. Recommend must have: Rendang, mala, olive tempeh, sambal king Should try at least once: Buah Kalak, beancurd roll Give it a Miss: enchanted forest

My very first visit to a vegetarian restaurant. Service was great. They let me in a few minutes earlier than the opening time when they saw me waiting outside. Staff were professional, proactive, and helpful. I appreciated it when the staff told me that the number of dishes I ordered was already a lot, and previously informed me that the dishes I ordered were all mushroom-based and recommended different dishes for variety. Food was tasty, especially the Thai green curry and the rendang. One of our companions was amazed when he was told the "chicken" in the dish he ate was not meat. Portions were sizable and work well for group diners.

I got invited for lunch by work friends to this wonderful vegetarian restaurant. Being a vegetarian, I was delighted to see the vast options in the menu. Each dish we ordered was unique and with distinct aroma and taste. I particularly recommend signature olive rice, Garden Medley, Tempeh Long Beans with Olive to name a few. A very satisfying experience and look forward to next visit.

First food experience in Singapore… and I am so impressed! The food was excellent - portion sizes are generous. Two plates and small noodles was more than enough for two to share and almost finish. Drinks were quenching, and the service was outstanding. Thank you!

Definitely one of the best vegetarian food place I will bring friends from overseas to. My to go is always 🫒 rice which is always amazingly packed with wok hei in every single grain & fried eggplant that is done perfectly crisp on the outside & fluffy within. I have been there a few times, people thought this dish is overrated but after I ordered, this is always the dish that is finished off first 😂 Usually I go for my sweet & sour “meat” but decide to go with this lotus root pocket, sooooo goooood. Enchanted forest which is 🥦& 🍄 is popular but it was not too much to shout about, could be the choice of shroom that make it popular. Do try their sambal chilli, it does cost $2 for it but it goes very well with the rest of the dishes & this is also a place that I don’t ask them to take away the appetizer as they always serve some deep fried seaweed tofu skin & pickles, we were so addicted to it.

The food was decent, but our dining experience fell short. Despite arriving at 9:00 pm within the posted closing time of 10:00 pm on their website, the kitchen closed unexpectedly at 9:10 pm, leaving us with only 10 minutes to order. Attempts to order drinks later and modify our order were denied. The service lacked friendliness and flexibility, contributing to a less-than-ideal atmosphere. Overall, while the food had potential, the rushed service and disappointing ambiance detracted from the overall enjoyment of our visit.

Very good Nyonya and Thai style vegetarian food place. The fried olive brown rice with lot of wok hey but the brown rice is too tough recommend to go for the normal white rice version. The lotus root with honey glaze taste like the non vegetarian version. The fried sambal kangkong also very authentic and comparable to the non vegetarian version. Even the price is on the high side, would recommend to try.

Love this place to the max! Really lives up to their Michelin standard, deserving the 5 stars! For a meat lover like me, I need meat in all my meals, and I must say that I really love every single dish here! There’s strong wok hei in their fried rice! So good that we ordered another Chestnut Fried Rice. And I am already planning to go back again to try their Signature Olive Fried Rice. Among all, Harmonious Tofu is my top pick! Soft and silky, the sauce has petai bits (I really dislike the smell) in it. But I couldn’t even taste it at all until my friend pointed it out. Amazing! For dessert lovers, you have to try their Nonya Golden Pumpkin, a very interesting combination of pumpkin with black glutinous rice and coconut milk.

A very expensive restaurant but the food is extremely delicious. This is likely the most tasty Chinese/Malay vegetarian food I've had. I've been here a few times and the food is always served fresh and hot. I was delighted to see that they have started offering the omnimeat options. (Omnimeat is a plant-based meat that mimics the texture of meat closely). I've tried their yam ring, olive fried rice, sambal kangkong, sawadee larb (the omnimeat item) and pernakan rendang. All of them were excellent which makes me think the asking price is worth it. The staff have always been polite and welcoming and their ambience is quiet and nice.

You can often tell a good place based on their menu. This place is no exception. There's a few things on here I wish I had the time to come back for. The rendang was on par with the best I've had. The olive rice was pretty good, though not as less oily as the menu suggested A bit pricey, but when you consider the quality of the food and the portion size, it was well worth it

Yum! Delicious vegan food, reasonable priced, and great service. Definitely recommend stopping in here if you’re in Singapore. The Rendang was so good and the olive rice was incredible (and I don’t even like olives!) We didn’t book and were lucky to get a table around 7pm on a Saturday so recommend booking or going at a less busy time/day!

Whole Earth should be considered as the best restaurant serving plant-based food in Singapore. The location is in the Tanjong Pagar neighbourhood, just a short walk from the MRT station. They serve incredible vegetarian food. I’d say it’s quite unusual in a meat country such as Singapore. Vegetarian food is hard to find as many eateries only offer a very small number vegetarian food on their menus. (usually pizza, sandwiches or soup). The place is nicely renovated. The interior with its decor is simple & uncluttered. The establishment seems more keen on focusing on the food rather than a flashy interior. I’d suggest to book a table in advance. The service is fast. The menu consists of classic dishes that’s a mix of Peranakan & Thai. The restaurant is Singapore’s first & only plant-based restaurant to be awarded the Michelin Bib Gourmand for 6 years from 2016 - 2022. That, if anything, should make you curious & eager to visit. For you who’s not vegan | vegetarian, don’t let the fact that this is a plant-based restaurant dissuade you from eating here or order food for take away. The quality, the taste, textures & the variety of flavours is second to none.

Was initially skeptical about the hype about this vegetarian restaurant. I have to say they made simple dishes taste good. The broccoli and monkey head was tasty and the olive fried brown rice was thoroughly cooked with the right texture. The salt and pepper eggplant was crunchy and not that oily. Overall, very delicious vegetarian meal.

My second time here and the foods do not disappoint. I'm not a vegetarian but I really enjoyed the food here as they just taste great. The place is crowded and reservation is a must. I have tried other vegetarian restaurants and they usually too small portions or too expensive. The portions and the prices here are just right. No wonder some of the comments says that this could be the best vegetarian restaurant in Singapore.

Olive Fried Rice (brown rice) is flavourful and not oily. Mushroom and broccoli is nicely cooked in a delicious healthy broth. The yummiest thing for me is their snacks and the end drink. Definitely recommend this place.

This place is so yummy. First time we came. We ordered set meal from the menu because we are a big group and have no idea what to choose. Outstanding vegetarian dishes! Out of 5 dishes I ordered, I was particularly amazed by the Penang Rendang and the Nutty Buah Keluak dish. For the rendang, the meat is made out of mushroom. At first glance, it is very similar to beef - as it has the “shreddable” appearance. It actually has a good chew too. The rendang sauce itself is thick, tasty, and has a slightly spicy kick on it. As for the buah keluak dish, the meat is coated in batter and deep fried. It is excellent when paired with the savory and slightly tangy sauce as the batter gave the slight sweetness and crispiness. I personally found the sauce to be quite addictive. There are some buah keluak too, which you can scoop the fillings out using the teaspoon provided. The other dishes are delicious - but not as special as the above two. I tried the mixed vegetable (I can’t recall the specific name). There are tofu, fried beancurd skin, beansprouts, snow pea, carrots, and white cabbage. It is okay. I also tried the balls in sweet-sour sauce (similar to chili crab; which I forgot the exact name too). The balls are delicious and they have a good bite too. The sauce is sweet and slightly spicy. For the carbs, I tried the olive fried rice. It may be seemingly plain but it has a lot of wok hei packed on it. Well done!

Food is tasty but didn't live up to the hype. Ordered nutty Buah keluak which was tasty but small portion, olive rice tasty but not unique, and Enchanted forest. Did reservation, said they would only hold table for 10min. The service staff glared quite unpleasantly at my mother who wanted to check the receipt before payment. Toilet was clean. As we left, I said thank you to the staff before they responded. A cold feeling. Overall decent but not impressionable.

I love the Tom yum soup, sambal king and olive fried rice! But the recommended dish nyonya rendang with mock meat is too salty and dried, it's not taste of rendang.

So disappointed. Was looking forward to a good vegetarian dinner. Ordered takeaway the signature nonya curry $20 plus. Turned out it’s mainly all potatoes. Just 4 very small mock meat balls. Not like the portion I get when I’m eating in the restaurant. Waste of my money.

Good place for vegetarians to try a lot of local dishes. Slightly expensive side. Close to city limits so easy to access and also ample parking around the place. Usually office crowd.

One of the best vegetarian food in Singapore, the food does not taste like vegetarian at all. Like the rendang so much. Pricing on the high side. Recommend to make reservation during busy hour.

A delightful and delicious vegetarian food experience - for all types of eaters. The ambience is comfortably chic. Service is attentive, but not in the way. The rice plates are all yummy, different interesting flavors. The crispy tofu dish with peanuts and vegetables is great. Definitely try the black candelnut dish - it has to be cooked for three days to ensure it is not poisonous. Very unique.

I would say I was pleasantly surprised with the taste. Generally I tend to avoid vegetarian but the rendang here taste just like meat (but it's not meat). I would recommend to try the olive rice as well.

Most amazing vegitarian food place. It was a whole new introduction to the new world as I am a meat lover. I went here on friend's recommendation and I honest felt like I was eating as usual but really good food. The taste was great, the quality was great and I was overblown by the fact vegitarian food can be better than the food I usually have! We will most certainly visit here again and I recommend to anyone to try out food here!

It’s one of the better vegan places we know. It’s also one of those places the family thinks of the moment somebody mentions vegetarian! And why not? The food’s great, and the service just as good! What we also like is when we’re done with our makan, we never leave this place with an icky feeling which often results from eating meats and oily stuff. Everything here is well seasoned, and not excessively strong in any particular flavours. The food is balanced in salty, sweet, and sour! Now the only reason I didn’t give this place a full 5-star score? I think it’s expensive at some 40-50 per head.

One of my favorite vegan restaurants in Singapore. The food is pricey but it's delicious. I have had Peranakan food before and the veganized version tasted the same. I had a hard time believing the Penang Rendang was mushroom and not meat. The menu was limited due to CNY so I will be coming again to try more dishes.

Food & Price: ordered signature olive rice ($15) and penang rendang ($22). Food are great! Olive rice is fragrant and very generous portion; could feed 3-4pax. Penang rendang is good to share between 2-3pax, flavourful to the palette. Pricing is ok for olive rice but slightly ex for rendang. Service: staff were friendly Ambience: suitable for date days, generally quiet restaurant. recommend and will return!

The food was AMAZING 😋 I'm sure it can even satisfy meat lovers. The sambal Kangkong and Thai Sweet and Sour Delight were my favourites. The XO rice was delicious by itself too. The mock meat in the nonya curry was so tender and melt in the mouth. The food was quite pricey though but maybe because it comes with a Michelin Bib Gourmand for 4 years in a row. Will definitely be back though!

My to-go place if i have craving for vegetarian food! One of the best vegetarian restaurant in Singapore. Very good quality food. Price is steep and be expected to spend $40 per pax to eat it.

  • 4/5 Wenqi L. 2 years ago on Google
This is the only vegetarian eatery to receive the Michelin bib gourmand, and for 4 years so far, but I personally do not think it lives up to its name. Taste is subjective so I know many people will disagree, but there are many other vegetarian eateries with better tasting food at a fraction of the price. I've brought 2 groups of non-vegetarians here before, one group loved it, the other thought is was so-so, but both groups left with a hole in our pockets for sure. Nothing actually bad to complain about, just not fantastic, especially for the price, and when there are better options elsewhere.

  • 2/5 Chrissa M. 2 years ago on Google
Had high expectations for this - considering it has over 850 reviews with an average rating of 4.4 stars. I left the restaurant about 30 minutes ago, ordered the nonya curry and steamed white rice - it was highly underwhelming. Tasted like I was eating frozen food that had just been microwaved in the back. I was expecting a burst of flavours, instead I got a burst of disappointment for $28. Wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

Way overpriced.... And I don't see why so many 5-star reviews.. Food was just so-so in taste. I ordered Assam Podaa Vegetables - and man - the stench emanating from it - I was unable to bring it to my mouth.. It was 18$ and I could not get to eat it... I ordered Sweet and Sour Thai food - and it was smelling good (thanks to pineapple) - but guess it was fried unevenly... In the end I did not eat anything - but ended up paying close to a 60$ bill ! (I ordered 3 dishes because I was hungry and wanted to eat something.. I could not get to eat anything though)... Honestly, I could have spent 10-15 dollar and had a great meal in any other restaurant.. I rushed to one other restaurant just to get rid of that smell in my mouth (from Assam Podaa Vegetable). I don't think I will visit the place again. But there were lot of people and looks like they were enjoying their food.. Just that it is not for me..

Not sure what it exactly is but it’s TASTY 👅 - Shiitake w/ Special Stuffing 🍄 S$25: steamed fresh shiitake piled w/ a secret shroom veggie mix, glazed in soy broth. ✨ stuffing is MYSTERIOUS yet packs UMAMI! - Elephant Toes 🐘 S$27: Omni meat, mushroom, vegetables & ginger balls w/ greens. Another secret ball mix, but this had a more pronounced @omnimeat taste! - Buah Keluak ⚫️ S$25: vegan spin on the classic Peranakan dish. You’d know by now that I’m a FAN of these black nuts! (an acquired taste for sure) 🥳 - Tom Yam Soup 🌶 S$11: spicy sour, perfect for a rainy day 🥵 not as authentic as Thai restaurants but good enough. - Assam Pedas Vege 🥦 S$18: another Peranakan dish that looks unassuming but gravy packs SPICE & FLAVOR. 🥰 - Royal Beauty Soup 👑 S$15/bowl: usual double-boiled soup containing nutritious ingredients. ⭐️Follow @foodiebots on Instagram for more!

Always loved the Penang Rendang and Nutty Buah Keluak it’s a must have when my mom and I go. By fair she feels this place serves the best Buah Keluak dish … in her opinion better than some of the Nonya places that we eat at. If u order This two dishes .. eat them with white rice . If you want to order olive rice it would be a pity to have these heavy flavoured dishes with them . Yam ring was nicely done not overkill from the deep frying. Drinks are always refreshing . Make reservations pls . Can get really crowded if u don’t want to wait

One of the best vegetarian restaurants I have dined in. The flavors are amazing; and they are not trying to replicate some ‘meaty’ flavor. We end up ordering a lot more! I personally love the Mala dish - its spicy but not overwhelming; thus the flavor of the fried items still prevails. The petai dish was very good, not too spicy and yet not overwhelmingly petai either. The rendang is the best - clearly retains the rendang taste, but light and not that spicy. ` Service was wonderful, the staff always acknowledge when we raise our hand and there was never that ‘pretend never to see’ moments. Polite and recommends dishes where needed. Recommend this place fully!

Have been wanting to try this restaurant. It's quaint, packed for lunch, service is good. Recommended: Chestnut fried rice and olive fried rice, Penang Rendang, Love At First Bite (monkey head vegetables), the Wolfberry Soup to share, and do not miss the Mala La Zi Gu (spicy fried mushrooms), which I feel is the best dish. Unfortunately some of the ones that we didn't particularly enjoy are the Nyonya curry, fried Honey Lotus Root and the pear aloe vera dessert (too sweet). There are many other dishes we saw and would like to try for future visit.

Delicious, wholesome vegetarian food. I especially liked the Penang style dishes, but perhaps the coconut can be too “lemak” after eating a few bites. The service staff is kind and friendly. They also helped to refill our glasses. One feedback is that on a weekday evening, the restaurant was quite empty, so please don’t try to pack the diners side by side. We prefer to have more space in between diners (other empty tables).
